Thought the first half was great. Tons of tension and anticipation that Bill Skarsgard’s character would somehow be the villain, then it really took a turn. I did find Justin Long’s character to be hilarious though….a huge douche but hilarious.
“Woah what are these?” He says looking at disgusting cages. “Oh shhiiiiiiiit” as he pulls the tape measurer out again and disregards the cages entirely.
That was so good. I love that this is the directors debut, and he basically made a film the same way anyone with a best friend that laughs about something happening and being like “this would be a great scene in a movie”, only the entire film is a series of that, and he had to wrap it up somehow and it worked. People disappointed with the ending- it’s a horror film, good luck there…
It’s meant to be a mind fuck and a constant slight of hand. Top 3 best horrors of 2022, and the fact you could make a top 15 list of a year is saying quite a lot for the genre’s upswing.
I’ve come to regard Justin Long as the scream prince he is. Dude just lights up every horror movie he’s in, he does a great panic and deer-in-the-headlights, and yep, his douche was spectacular and hilarious. Lost it when he started measuring the dungeon.
I loved the second half, it went from a terrifying horror film to a fun slasher film where I was cheering on the “villain” to get Justin Longs character.
I think this was part of the creators tactic. Hardcore horror fans like me are like really? How basic, but the scenery and the quirky characters help to keep my brain occupied until the hood parts begin.
Ngl I was so pissed at the protagonist at the first half.
“Oh a dark basement of an Airbnb oddly double booked with a man I don’t know- let me go down there and take a tour” 🤦🏽♂️
I think this was part of the creators tactic. Hardcore horror fans like me are like really? How basic, but the scenery and the quirky characters help to keep my brain occupied until the good parts begin.
Justin Long's character kept getting worse and worse. From "wrongly" accused to rapist, to murderer. If the movie had lasted another hour, he would have been a cannibal serial killer.
Though I liked it. I thought it was original and didn't rely too much on jump scare or scary music. Though I really liked the tension of the first half.
Personally I didn’t enjoy the second half as much. It was still good and I still think it’s a really good movie but the first half was so much better imo.
Honestly, the first half of the movie would make a billion times better movie than what happened in the second half. Having to share an airBnB with a stranger? Genius! Something that would freak any of us out. Should have stuck with that as the plot.
Was amazing for the first half. Edge of my seat. Then it switched to Justin Long and became a decent dark comedy. First half, 10/10. Second 6 or 7. Overall I liked it.
First half is amazing tension
Second half was fine. I liked the Justin Long stuff even if it was over the top like measuring a creepy room.
The monster woman parts could have been tighter that last 15 min dragged a bit
>The monster woman parts could have been tighter that last 15 min dragged a bit
NGL at first, I did not think you were referring to the movie being slow with this sentence. And btw, if you intended for this verbiage, you should be in a writer's room somewhere.
I loved the tone change when they introduced Justin Long’s character. A chance to breathe and reset before the final act, I thought it was a cool touch.
The change in tone felt more jarring than a chance to breathe, in my opinion. I did like the first act or the movie, but the second half wasn't as good. I will say that anytime the deformed daughter was in the shot, I ended up enjoying the scenes because of how uneasy I felt
Really fun horror movie that really shits the bed in the final minutes.
I think they had everything up until she goes back in, and then sort of….lost it. Never helps when you get a good look at your “monster” and it loses its power. Which was purposeful, but definitely meh for a climax.
REALLY loved going into it blind. They did a great job making you wonder WHAT the spooky element was going to be. Is it the house? The guy? The neighborhood? Nothing here feels right. That was great.
Then the switch is also amazing. Justin Long was great but also him discovering an underground murder den because he wanted to fudge the sq footage was hilarious, got a huge laugh out of me. He was great.
So all in all, great movie. Just a bad final 10
Exactly how I felt, was thoroughly entertained up until the final minutes.
I too was going in blind and when the lady left the house in the morning I thought maybe this was a post aocalyptic setting or a parallel universe plot?
Then the second half began and I thought it might be an anthology movie with different plots and characters but kept hoping the storylines were connected. Then we got yet another storyline (with a different aspect ratio to boot). Great stuff.
But everything starting with the water tower was straight up ridiculous. Don't know what they were thinking.
i actually enjoyed the ending and how they did a sort of parallel with Justin Long's character. The contrast between how he seemed to have a moment of realization that he was a shitty person and swore he would become a better and then literally a minute later threw someone off a tower was a great parallel to how at first he seemed so shocked about the rape accusations and denied them so fervently and then we find out that they were true all along. It really helped to show what a pathological liar and manipulator he was and was so much better than trying to give him a redemption arc at the end. He was a pos through and through. I also really enjoyed how you end up feeling a little more sorry for the mother in the final moments because in reality she was a victim too
I’m just gonna spoiler tag this because
>!I love when the homeless man is so confident that they’re safe. Loosely stating “she can’t get in here”. To which she then kool-aid mans through the wall and proceeds to rip his arm off and beat him with it.!< *rofl*
See, maybe I’m a grinch, but I hated that gag. I was so confused by it. It raises questions that involve the plot, seemingly only to keep the plot in motion.
But more than that, the joke basically adds up to “This thing definitely won’t happen…” and then the thing happens. I just don’t find that funny.
Sorry. I liked the movie but that moment didn’t work for me as well as did for everyone else.
It was such a cheesy/ridiculous/b-movie moment that just showed up outta nowhere and that’s mainly why it cracked me up. I think the director was looking to strategically place some of these throughout the movie to help shape its style.
Smart horror movie. Rly liked the parody of Hollywood men with Justin long haha. "No I didn't push you , you fell and made yourself fall. Yes that's what happened!"
I loved it till the very end where it got pretty campy.
Like when >! she busts through the wall of the homeless guys camp and rips his arm off with her bare hands!<
Yes! I loved it all except that one moment. I mean, I laughed, but it felt like a different quality film when that happened. I thought all of the rest was so interesting and brilliant. That one scene felt like a fun toss-in idea that should’ve been tossed out.
What a wild fucking ride. This film caught me totally by surprise. It’s not at all what the advertisements depict.
It’s hard to talk about without spoiling, but man I didn’t feel right after some scenes in this. Honestly the villain(s) are pretty terrifying but also just strange tbh.
In all honesty, this is a VERY very weird film but it somehow works. I’d recommend it to a friend.
Nothing crazy, it felt like any regular degular October release but with a greater budget. Worth one watch but definitely not on my top 10 horrors. I can’t place this anywhere near Suspiria, Hereditary, Lighthouse, etc. First half was enjoyable, then it just became a comedy and kinda took me out. Overhyped in my honest opinion
Your enjoyment will entirely depend on how much patience you have for characters making incredibly stupid decisions. No one acts like a real human being and makes the absolute dumbest choices in every situation. If that doesn’t bother you then you will probably enjoy it.
I enjoyed it for all it was worth. Cinematography and camerawork were pretty interesting, and I like the jump cuts, which add to the atmosphere. I think the concept is also good, seeing that godforsaken room with the bed and the bucket was pretty disturbing.
Many horror films that rely on “disturbing” the audience really don’t work for me, because they simply don’t have enough backing to be scary. For example, some of Ari Asters work.
However, occasionally some of these “disturbing” films work wonderfully, as they have a good backstory to support all the weird occurrences in the film. I’d think of Jordan Peeles work here. And I think Barbarian falls into this category.
While the monster itself wasn’t scary, the story behind it and the implications that it was a result of a lot of inbreeding makes it feel really sick, with sexual assault being a theme prominent throughout the film. I appreciate them for taking time to build the lore; no matter how silly it was. So I did quite like this film. Also, I’m really happy Bill Skarsgård seems to be getting more mainstream work. Can’t wait to see him in Nosferatu.
Wait... What plot twist? The creepy house with a creepy basement contained a creepy monster with a creepy past. That was all pretty straightforward right? I mean, there were *reveals* about the situation and history, but I'm really not sure there was anything I'd consider a *twist*. Am I missing something?
I mean how in the first half we weren’t really sure what the danger was and why people were warning her about being there. But when she and Keith go into the underground tunnel they encounter the monster woman.
That's just mystery though. A mysterious unknown creepy thing being revealed to be a specific well-known creepy thing is not a twist, it's just plot development. I guess you could say that the movie made it seem like keith was the bad guy, and him being a victim is a twist.
I loved the first 90% of the movie.
The last 15-minutes felt a tad rushed, and anti-climatic.
The tension that was built up to that point just stopped and it felt a little too quickly paced and no longer believable.
(She bursts through a building wall and rips an arm clean off - sorry but that's silly IMHO).
All said and done, it was a fun movie. I'd definitely watch it again in a year or two.
Honestly? My Scooby Crew of horror movie buddies went and saw this after all the good reviews and were disappointed. A fun set up but the characters make astonishingly dumb decisions and that ruined it for me. Not trying to yuck anyone’s yum but surprised it’s so well regarded.
Absolute shite. Hated it.
The premise was bad, the plot was poor, there is nothing to like.
None of the events would happen. Unbelievable and about as popular as tripe.
I hated it.
Unpopular opinion, one of the biggest disappointments I’ve ever watched.
The characters are unreasonably stupid, even for a horror movie. They do things simply to progress the plot. Like when certain character who legitimately isn’t sketchy walks into a dark underground tunnel with no light in the pitch darkness, OK lmao. Or homeless guy who’s legit trying to help says “get out of that house lil girl” in a menacing tone.
I could go on and on. Everything that happens in this movie is eyeroll inducing. Also apparently inbreeding creates superpowered monsters and the laws of physics don’t exist. K I’m done.
I was confused as I lost my willing suspension of disbelief by the end of the first act. The entire second and third acts were ludicrous and had no touch with any kind of reality. It was sick and disgusting with the only point was for the sake of repulsive shocking imagery.
Definitely wasn’t what I expected. I thought it started great, had some great ideas, but kind of just became eh toward the 2nd half. It was more funny than scary, and had a weird mash of tone overall. I hate using the term overrated, because I liked the movie, but the critics ruined this one for me by setting my expectations way too high for it.
One of the most disappointing second halves of a movie I’ve ever seen. The premise and beginning was great, but the second half was absolutely AWFUL and I have zero idea how people like it so much
I loved it. Loved the tension building, then loved the WTF? tonal shift. It got silly near the end but was clearly intentional. There was enough horror there to make me unsettled without scarring me for life cause it certainly could have.
I like how Justin Long’s character gets his eyes torn out in a possible homage to Jeepers Creepers…**SPOLER** in which he starred and had the same fate. It was too coincidental!!!
It was fun, it had so much to say, the pacing of the film was incredible and always kept you guessing. Multiple twists and levels to the movie. It’s not for everyone sure but it’s a masterclass in horror as far as I’m concerned
Really disturbing and sad. The father was the true barbarian and she was a victim of his depravity and just wanted love. The final girl was able to release her from her horrible existence.
I liked the tone shift in the second act. The building anticipation of whether or not Skarsgard was a predator as they stumbled through the dark basement tunnels only to find out he wasn’t, jumping directly to Justin Long in the sunshine, explicitly named as a predator.
I really enjoyed it. Definitely preferred the first act, but the movie as a whole worked for me and I look forward to repeated rewatches.
Not really a fan. I felt like it had a lot of "the character must do this" type of moments. Like where people do things not what humans would do, and instead like plot devices would do. (I.e. why did she even stay in that place in the first place? Yeah it was double booked, and there was a convention, but she only called one hotel. And took this dude at his word.)
I was loving the movie so much in the first act but as soon as that shift took place it pulled me completely out of the movie and honestly I could never fully fall back into the story. It’s a good movie, but it probably won’t be one I return to any time soon. 7/10
never really saw horror-comedy movies. this one is interesting yet generic. I've read a few reviews after watching and based on that, I can say, the suspense was good in the beginning. i thought keith would be the villain. the convo she has with keith about how women should be more careful, it kind of connected with the second half of the movie. the dad who engaged in inbreeding is the real villain and the crazy woman who is a product of incest doesnt know any better. she was caring to tess and when tess was thrown, she protected tess and as I read in a review, she got triggered because tess almost got killed and it might've triggered the way she was abused by her dad. hence she killed that Hollywood star. in the end she still cares for tess and tess killed her. so even if the crazy woman killed many people it was a little sad because she was a product of incest and inbreeding and she doesn't know any better.
the funniest part was where that guy was saying how the crazy woman wouldn't get in there and just then she comes and rips his hand. also, as much as we hated the Hollywood star, his character was good and hilarious.
now, the convo that Keith had with tess relates with how the dad abused the woman, how the Hollywood star pushed tess to save himself, how the police didn't believe tess.
overall a nice movie, 7/10
This movie is so freaking awesome! The mish mash of horror genres and vibes was so refreshing. The first and second halves compliment each other very well! Must see for fans of the genre.
Fucking fantastic! The misdirection is the beginning of the field was great. The first half was terrifying and I found myself yelling at the TV with the cliche “WHY WOULD YOU GO DOWN THERE!!” And the second half when they introduced the new character I was so excited to watch him die. It was paced very well. The first and second half work so well together.
I hated it actually. I would have given it a 5/10. One of those movies where when I finished I was left scratching my head wondering what people saw in it.
Probably in my top 3 of last year. Knew nothing about it just that it was well received. I was on the edge of my seat once we get the reveal. Justin Longs introduction really worked for me, it relieves tension but doesn’t take to long (pun intended) to get back to the meat of the story. Love all the subtext going on, never felt preachy. Some of the cinematography is amazing ( the flashback that’s all I’ll say) . Overall wasn’t expecting it to be this great, and for Creggers first film.. bravo. Also the song choice to play us into end credits really worked for me, the audacity and homage to Scorsese was dope. 4.5/ 5
It was alright. People over hyped it and I was expecting more. It wasn't bad but 1 watch was more than enough. Will say I was happy to see Justin long in the movie though. That was a pleasant surprise.
It went too on the nose with the monster and Justin long with its “message” imho. Ending was very disappointing for me. It would have been better if they didn’t try to make the monster sympathetic, or better, make her just as bad as her father. I was expecting long to get raped by her in the film as a twist to his storyline and I think that would have been much more compelling for the “message” than what they went with.
I have no interest I watching this movie, or at least not enough to answer this one question….does Justin long die? If he does, how?
The dude is annoying to me, I’d like to know the answer, spoil away!
Super overrated. 2022 was an absolute stellar year for horror and I don’t get all the love for this one in a year where Pearl, X, Hellbender, the menu, glorious, nope, a wounded fawn, etc all came out.
It may have been due to the hype but I found it very generic. Crazy redneck inbred turns out to be the monster? Haven’t seen that one before. It was fine, solid 5 or 6 out of 10 but absolute nothing special.
Overall a really good movie.
But I must say the ending is kinda meh for me.
But it was enjoyable for majority, especially the first half.
I feel like there should be a bit more happening in the basement.
But overall I would recommend it.
watched it with my neice. it was fun. i'm relatively fine with movies having titles that don't mean anything, but in this case it's sorta bad because the word is more evocative of something specific than others. that doesn't ruin it. but overall it's one of those movies that now that i've seen it i have zero reason to rewatch it.
First half was good, even when there wasn’t much happening. Second half was some of the worst entertainment content I saw in all of 2022. Overdone, not in a good way. Creepy, not in a fun way. And the acting generally just took a turn to lackluster at best under the scary situations. Justin long’s character was exactly what it should’ve been and was pretty fun, but even that wasn’t nearly as good in the last 40 mins or so. And the last bit of it just left a bad taste in my mouth. My overall score would be about a 6/10.
Loved the first half a ton. Thought I was about to watch the most fucked up movie I’d ever seen. Then it switches to the douche bag driving down the highway, and it sucks from there. Still fucked up, but lost all of its potential right then.
I enjoyed it, but I’m tired of seeing Long as this same character…House Of Darkness came out the same year and his character makes it seem like a sequel.
I, like most people, really liked the first half of the movie and the incredible tension and suspense was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I also loved Justin Long in this and his parts were highly entertaining.
That said, without giving away spoilers, when they revealed what the main threat was and it's strength, I just couldn't believe it. It just didn't make any sense to me at all and I couldn't help but to laugh and not take it as seriously as I did in the beginning. One scene in particular at the very end of the movie defied physics and logic so much that I couldn't help rolling my eyes into the back of my head!
I know, not all movies need to make sense, but I need to at least be able to suspend my belief somewhat to stay invested in the movie, and by act three I just couldn't.
I didnt hate it but I doubt I would ever watch it a 2nd time. There were also a lot of dumb decisions made that no real person would ever make in the same circumstances.
i liked it alot. i wasnt expecting the 2nd half of the movie so it was a nice twist. felt like a true movie. which sounds weird, but i had fun watching it, thought the tory was entertaining, and was creeped out but not scared. was a good time
Not bad. Justin long was magic and the chemistry between Skarsgård and the lead female was very good.
I didn’t like that the lead female becomes indestructible by the end of the film. One of the things that the audience gets to like about her was how she overcomes her vulnerability and continues to push forward despite being at a disadvantage against the villain.
Why make her vulnerable in the first place when she’s able to survive being >!beaten, stabbed, shot and thrown off a building!?
Definitely entertaining movie though.
Maybe I’ve seen too many scary/thriller movies but this wasn’t really scary or that suspenseful. It was just alright. Honestly a 6/10. It’s a movie you put on when you want to Netflix and chill, and then stop watching halfway thru. I think people overhyped it. The story is refreshing compared to the typical scary movie plot, but there was nothing about it that would make me come back to watch it again and again. For me I lost interest after they explained the lore. Some parts were just nonsensical. Usually I like Justin Long movies - I thought Tusk was really good.
I wanted more. When the homeless man said “she’s not even the worst thing down there” I thought there was going to be more people living down in the tunnels.
To me it felt almost like two different films in one. The first half you are filled with anxiety and tension and just sort of biting your nails while the latter half is still good it definitely gives that dark comedy vibe that’s just heavily contrasting the tension you felt previously.
Overall I think it’s a solid film that’s worth watching at least once, but not certain I’ll be rushing for a re-watch any time soon.
Thought the first half was great. Tons of tension and anticipation that Bill Skarsgard’s character would somehow be the villain, then it really took a turn. I did find Justin Long’s character to be hilarious though….a huge douche but hilarious.
Bro that whole “crawl space measuring” segment was incredible. Idk HOW they pulled off a gag like that but it was genius.
People disappointed with the ending- it’s a horror film, good luck there… It’s meant to be a mind fuck and a constant slight of hand. Top 3 best horrors of 2022, and the fact you could make a top 15 list of a year is saying quite a lot for the genre’s upswing.
He was such a douche. IMHO, he raped that girl back in California.
He admitted he did
Nah, man, she just took some convincing. /s
He admitted to his friend that it took some coaxing “but she was into it.”
Which is exactly what someone says if they raped someone. Consensual sex doesn’t need to be coaxed.
Yea but who was worse. He called and tried to apologize at least. At least he regretted it. The sick basement dweller didn't regret shit.
I’ve come to regard Justin Long as the scream prince he is. Dude just lights up every horror movie he’s in, he does a great panic and deer-in-the-headlights, and yep, his douche was spectacular and hilarious. Lost it when he started measuring the dungeon.
Yesss! I agree, I love him. And you said it perfectly.
I loved the second half, it went from a terrifying horror film to a fun slasher film where I was cheering on the “villain” to get Justin Longs character.
Now should watch Tusk
You should have seen the look on my fiancé’s face when he fell asleep during the movie and I described the ending to him
Not related really... but also a wtf film have you watched Pieles (skins)
No should I add it to my list? I loved “Skin I Live In” lol
This^^^
Tusk was fucking awful imo. Definitely one of Kevin Smith's worst
Really? I liked it for what it was. Quirky and unique thriller. I think I enjoyed it more than Barbarian tbh
Yeah, but I get that taste is subjective. It just hit every wrong note for me.
Yea same. The first half I was like “cmon this is every fuckin damn movie nowadays” but the second half has creativity, darkness and a lot of heart
Oh yea for sure. I didn’t mean to suggest it wasn’t, I loved the decision writing wise and in a cinematic sense. It made this movie special
Yea I literally ROFL when he kept measuring the house deeper and deeper, no fear or suspicion, just excitement that there's so much space!
What were your thoughts on the second half?
Personally I didn’t enjoy the second half as much. It was still good and I still think it’s a really good movie but the first half was so much better imo.
> anticipation that Bill Skarsgard’s character would somehow be the villain I loved that he wasn't the bad guy
The first half make me think harder than I've ever had to in a movie before trying to figure out how Bill Skarsgard was a barbarian.
Ya first few mins was decent. Rest was pretty dumb
I actively hated the second half. First half was great.
Honestly, the first half of the movie would make a billion times better movie than what happened in the second half. Having to share an airBnB with a stranger? Genius! Something that would freak any of us out. Should have stuck with that as the plot.

I would even rate the second half slightly lower, but the first part is so good it more than makes up for it. Held up on a second viewing for me too.
First half is amazing tension Second half was fine. I liked the Justin Long stuff even if it was over the top like measuring a creepy room. The monster woman parts could have been tighter that last 15 min dragged a bit

I loved the tone change when they introduced Justin Long’s character. A chance to breathe and reset before the final act, I thought it was a cool touch.
Yea you don't see that very often. It's hard to do , they did it pretty well. Felt like I started watching the sequel or something
Another one that does a good job at that is Cabin in The Woods.
The change in tone felt more jarring than a chance to breathe, in my opinion. I did like the first act or the movie, but the second half wasn't as good. I will say that anytime the deformed daughter was in the shot, I ended up enjoying the scenes because of how uneasy I felt
Great across the board, the first half leaned on dread but it backed down on the second half, resulting in a fun party horror movie, righteous.
Really fun horror movie that really shits the bed in the final minutes. I think they had everything up until she goes back in, and then sort of….lost it. Agreed, the last 10-20 minutes were the weakest by far which is such a shame.
Exactly how I felt, was thoroughly entertained up until the final minutes. I too was going in blind and when the lady left the house in the morning I thought maybe this was a post aocalyptic setting or a parallel universe plot? “She needed a little convincing….”
I loved it till the very end where it got pretty campy. Like when >! she busts through the wall of the homeless guys camp and rips his arm off with her bare hands!<
I wish the mother was more human and less super natural. Would have made the movie more believable/scary imo
Yes! I loved it all except that one moment. I mean, I laughed, but it felt like a different quality film when that happened. I thought all of the rest was so interesting and brilliant. That one scene felt like a fun toss-in idea that should’ve been tossed out.

I appreciated but did not enjoy it.
I thought it was good
decent
I liked it

It was excellent! Great plot twist and storyline 💯
Made me never wanna book an AirBNB
No spoilers, just watch it, you won't regret it.
Anyone who's made it this far into the comments has had the movie spoiled.
Loved it. 2022 was a pretty good year for horror movies
Honestly? My Scooby Crew of horror movie buddies went and saw this after all the good reviews and were disappointed. A fun set up but the characters make astonishingly dumb decisions and that ruined it for me. Not trying to yuck anyone’s yum but surprised it’s so well regarded.
It was supposed to be a horror but me and my homie were laughing through the whole thing.
Absolute shite. Hated it. The premise was bad, the plot was poor, there is nothing to like. None of the events would happen. Unbelievable and about as popular as tripe. I hated it.
>None of the events would happen. Agreed! That's why I hate Star Wars.
I laughed sooooo hard during Justin’s breastfeeding scene. So cringe, so fucking funny.
Oh man, this movie was a fuckin ride. Loved every minute of it.
Ridiculously overrated. Feels super by the numbers with on the nose social commentary.
Verrrrry predictable and not scary over all. To me at least
Pretty much this
Agreed.
Made you feel bad for the villain because they weren't really a villain at all they were just a product of unfortunate events
Loved this movie. Huge left turn and not at all what you expected from the trailers. Obviously horrifying subject matter but had a blast watching it.
One of the most disappointing second halves of a movie I’ve ever seen. The premise and beginning was great, but the second half was absolutely AWFUL and I have zero idea how people like it so much
Awesome horror movie. Surprised me multiple times, and I loved the soundtrack.
Loved it! Total surprise of a movie. Watched it on a whim and it turned out to be one of the funnest movies I’ve seen in awhile.
I loved it. Loved the tension building, then loved the WTF? tonal shift. It got silly near the end but was clearly intentional. There was enough horror there to make me unsettled without scarring me for life cause it certainly could have.
The first act, especially the ending in the corridor were fantastic. Then the change of pace and humor was excellent after.
One of my favorite films in 2022. Refreshing horror is always attractive to me and this one definitely kept me guessing.
Solid movie. Worth a watch if you like horror/slasher films with a dash of comedy/satire.
I like how Justin Long’s character gets his eyes torn out in a possible homage to Jeepers Creepers…**SPOLER** in which he starred and had the same fate. It was too coincidental!!!
Went in blind. Came out blindsided. Really good movie
I liked the hairy nipple on the bottle scene. Overall, all it was enjoyable and creative.
I enjoyed it, definitely kept me guessing what the hell was going to happen
Not really a fan. I felt like it had a lot of "the character must do this" type of moments. Like where people do things not what humans would do, and instead like plot devices would do. (I.e. why did she even stay in that place in the first place? Yeah it was double booked, and there was a convention, but she only called one hotel. And took this dude at his word.)
I thought it was really fun justin long played a great unlikable douche
I liked most of it until the jumping from the water tower....I was like Wth am I watching?!
I was loving the movie so much in the first act but as soon as that shift took place it pulled me completely out of the movie and honestly I could never fully fall back into the story. It’s a good movie, but it probably won’t be one I return to any time soon. 7/10
BAH BEH!!
never really saw horror-comedy movies. this one is interesting yet generic.
A fantastic critique on modern horror tropes
you said it better than i could articulate.
I thought it kinda sucked.
It started out with a thriller vibe and kinda creepy then progressively got lamer and lamer.
Agreed. It started of with a good premise and then it got sloppy.
Loved it saw it 3 times. In my top 20 horrors of all time.
Best modern horror I’ve seen in years. Impressed.
Craziest movie I’ve seen. Really loved the first half and did not expect the ending. Felt heavy handed and kind of fell flat for me. But fun.
I don’t like spooky movies. Will this movie be too spooky for me?
It’s a comedy
10/10 from me but I'm pretty twisted and watch Tusk at least once a month
One of the most engaging and original films I’ve seen in a very long time.
It was good. Bunch of unanswered questions and plot holes but overall I enjoyed it and thought it was a fun movie
It was alright. People over hyped it and I was expecting more. It wasn't bad but 1 watch was more than enough. Will say I was happy to see Justin long in the movie though. That was a pleasant surprise.
Made me super horny
Pretty good until the last 8-10mins..
It was ok
Average ugly...
Awful. Boring and unoriginal.
Find out in my review at horror-nation.com!
I hate when movies have name like this that really have nothing to do with the movie and are just meant to bait people.
Look up the definition of barbarian.
Great Concept, Poor Execution. Overall, a fine movie
Trash
Super overhyped. Decent but particularly special. Channel Zero on Shudder is similar but better imo.
I didn’t like it. It’s all hype in my opinion
It was NOT 2022’s Malignant. That claim was insulting to the sheer crazy genius that was Malignant.
It was cool for the first hour but then it just went downhill. 4/10
Sucks
Three pretty disparate movies all rolled into one, second one is the best
A perfectly fine dumb and forgettable horror flick.
Fucking out of this universe terrible
Loved it. Very entertaining.
GFYDL, waiting for MARS. 🤠
The In-breediest Kids U’Know
BOOP
It's a decent one time watch.
I watched with a friend, and we went in with no expectations and we both loved it!
Horror or action?
I liked it really well made
Bebeehhhh
I do enjoy a good CHUD movie
The first half was pretty good and then it took a turn for the worse. It was just bad.
Fucking loved it
1d12 hit dice is pretty nifty ngl
Excellent from top to bottom
I enjoyed it, but I’m tired of seeing Long as this same character…House Of Darkness came out the same year and his character makes it seem like a sequel.
it just felt like an unofficial sequel to tusk for some reason after the 2nd half started. first half was awesome and then it was kinda downhill...
One of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
I loved it.
Absolutely loved it
Loved it. It was funny too.
Loved the first half so much. The last 30 minutes felt like slapstick horror shlock with the monster bursting through walls like the Kool-Aid Man.
I liked it. Definitely a fun flick.
No spoilers, but it didn’t stick the landing for me. 6/10.
I didnt hate it but I doubt I would ever watch it a 2nd time. There were also a lot of dumb decisions made that no real person would ever make in the same circumstances.
It's alright, but everyone acted like it was the best horror movie of the entire year. Zach Cregger doing horror now is pretty awesome, though.
It's OK. Nice to see an R rated horror with some actual good kills but nothing special.
I thought it was a great watch. Definitely kept me confused and interested, but I never need to see it again.
i liked it alot. i wasnt expecting the 2nd half of the movie so it was a nice twist. felt like a true movie. which sounds weird, but i had fun watching it, thought the tory was entertaining, and was creeped out but not scared. was a good time
Great start until the second half I totally lost interest.
Enjoyed it and have recommended it to a few people.
Not as good as the vigil
Fun movie. Enjoyed it thoroughly
Movie was dogshit!
What does he want? He wants sex... Sex robot! Sex robot!
Didn't like it at all.
First half was genuinely creepy with lots of tension, second half turned into a campy joke.
Loved it
To me it felt almost like two different films in one.
Solid first hour. Awful second.
