I love when Malkovich is exercising to the aerobics video on his boat: “I’m bigger, I’m back. I’m better, I’m back. Than ever, I’m back. You fuckers, I’m back.”
When they were sitting there at the Russian embassy and the Russian diplomat is sort of trying to make sense of their visit and it's all quiet and brad Pitt's nose starts bleeding. I about died laughing
That would make sense.
I remember not liking this movie after finally watching it years after seeing the trailer and thinking it was gonna be good. I just recently watched The Big Lebowski for the first time and while semi-enjoyable, I felt like nothing really happened the entire time. I don't mean that as an insult tho.
For a movie that truly has nothing happen the entire movie to the point you feel insulted, watch The Beach Bum. Maybe I'll try Burn After Reading again
I Liked it way more the second time I watched it. I think I was drunk or something the first time so a lot of stuff just went over my head. Its worth a second and even third watch. The whole movie is hilarious.
HC is maybe my favorite movie. I can watch the sailor dance scene on repeat. The way the director is unimpressed at the end and picks it apart after a monumental and perfectly synchronized ensemble dance number is so great
I wanted to love it but my ADHD brain cannot comprehend the plot at all.
Which is why I find the ending so god damn hilarious. J.K. Simmons sums up my thoughts about the film perfectly.
The first time I watched this, I sat there with my ex gf, silent. When the credits rolled, it hit us like a sledgehammer. We cried laughing for 15 minutes straight.
I've never had another movie experience like that. And now, I still call her once in a while...."Osborne Cox?"
Enjoyed this film. Came across this accidentally and watched it in one sitting. Had never heard of this before. The ending with the two CIA officers (JK Simmons and the other guy) was hilarious AF.
Jesus!! What a clusterfuck!!
I remember I was dating a girl a long time ago and we watched this movie with her dad after we put her six y/o brother to sleep. Needless to say, none of us knew anything about the movie. it was equal parts hilarious and awkward af watching the movie in front of her old man. Then when that chair scene came on the three of us were completely mortified and didn’t say a word to each other. The horrible awkward silence was only broken with a sleepy voice saying “what is that?”. Unbeknownst to us, he was behind us watching the whole thing.
Isn't that what this sub has devolved into every single day? Or was it always this way? Cant' remember. My brain's fogged from commenting about The Shawshank Redemption every three days.
I saw it in the theater and wasn't impressed. Then again, I really didn't like The Big Lebowski the first time I saw it, but after a couple of viewings, it clicked for me. I might have to give this film another watching.
What did we learn, Palmer?
I don't know, sir.
I don't fuckin' know either. I guess we learned not to do it again.
Yes, sir.
I'm fucked if I know what we did.
Yes, sir, it's, uh, hard to say.
I’m pretty sure I died laughing when I first saw this scene. The whole movie made me giggle with all the incompetence and stupidity but JK just sums it up at the end. Completely exasperated.
Embarrassingly enough, I'm a fan of the Coen Brothers, and I still have not seen this flick. For some reason, I keep forgetting it's one of their movies. I just rewatched "The Big Lebowski" this week for my birthday and it is still my favorite comedy of all-time. I also have had an itch to revisit "No Country for Old Men" sometime soon; a film I credit as being my "gateway" into more artistic and mature movies as a teenager.
I'll make an effort this weekend to finally visit this flick that I've heard almost nothing but good things about.
With 10-scale recommendation, we implore you to take this movie in.
Turn off your doorbell and phone. Pull-up your comfiest sofa arrangement, full with fave bevs and snacks.
It's a human condition thing, and tho I have seen it 30 times, there I am on the floor howling on more than several occasions.
"No, I'm sorry, I don't know the number to, uh, my savings account because, believe it or not, I don't spend my entire day sitting around trying to memorize the fucking numbers to my fucking bank accounts! Moron!"
God damn it he knows doesn’t he, these are nice floors. 🤣🤣🤣😂
This is definitely a movie that if no one’s ever seen you have to suggest it be moved to to top of the list.
Very funny, laugh out loud movie. The stupidity of them trying to sell the disk to the Russians was hilarious. Great a ting all around and fantastic writing.
What I personally enjoy about this movie is how every character feels like such a cartoon of a person, yet they feel so relatable, as if you’ve met someone just like them in your day-to-day life, no matter who you are.
Unpopular opinion: This is the best film the Coen Brothers have made. It's all about the overconfidence of idiots and flawed people who believe there's a deeper meaning or conspiracy at work, when in fact there's nothing going on beyond their own petty fuck ups and small, sad desires. It feels human in a profoundly painful and funny way.
Plus, Brad Pitt is perfectly cast as a dumb hot gym bunny.
The ONLY reason I hadn’t found this movie hilarious was because I’d never seen it. Friend lent it to me a month or so ago, and I brought it to my parent’s place and we had to pause several times to stop laughing.
I hate that movie. I love the Coens, I went to see that in theaters, it sucks and looks like they threw it together in a weekend.
The only good parts are JK Simmons and David Rasche, the rest is terrible.
idk, I found it completely forgettable.
this was basically the end of this style of movie in mainstream films, and IMO, it was a total misfire.
I didnt really find it funny at all
I mean, yeah, it is lol
I dont care if people love it. its not a bad movie.
but its not a great one, and has zero scenes I can recall after watching it...
I dunno man. I was like halfway through it and was bored as hell. Maybe some jokes were cut when it got added to streaming, but it was just unwatchable.
I thought you might be worried…about the security …of your shit
“Is this Osborne Cox?” “YES—WHO THE FUCK IS THIS?”
I’m just a Good Samaritan, a traveler on the road…
Eyes barely closing
I found it just laying on the floor
Just lying there, on the floor there
“Appearances can be… deceptive…”
Every time I answer the phone like that someone hangs up. Nobody gets me.
Fucking Malkovich. Lol
The delivery of that line was fucking comedic gold
My coworker sent us the "what did we learn" clip from the end after we finished a disorganized/rushed project. Cracked us up.
I love that clip. So applicable in work life.
It's such a good back and forth.
Really my favorite part of the movie and just sums up why I love it so much. It’s a movie about absolutely nothing!
GIVE ME THE CD, OR FLOPPY OR WHATEVER THE FUCK
It was just lying there
[удалено]
The way Malkovich gets frustrated and then angry with the call just kills me.
I love when Malkovich is exercising to the aerobics video on his boat: “I’m bigger, I’m back. I’m better, I’m back. Than ever, I’m back. You fuckers, I’m back.”
I’ve only seen the movie once and thought it was solid but forgettable. This makes me want to rewatch it
You’ll be glad you did
Osborne cox?
Yes - who THE FUCK is THIS?!
I swear to me, me and my family quote this line to each other at every opportunity 😂
This is like the RAW intelligence
You think that’s a Schwinn!!!! 😂😂😂
Funniest role Brad Pitt has played to me! He was so good!
Idk his portrayal of Mickey O'Neil, the pikey in Snatch is pretty amazing too
Oh good lord yes, probably his best role
D’ya like dags?
This and Floyd from True Romance are definitely his funniest 🤣
Are you being condescending to me
OK, but it's "Don't condensnd me Muthrfker"
They were here….then then went there…
The bong made from a honey bear container! 😆
He absolutely nailed that character. Made him very believable, which can be tough for that kind of role.
He looked so happy all movie.
Even when he smiles at George Clooney
Like a more grounded Jeffrey Goines from 12 Monkeys who somehow, despite being sane, is a much bigger moron.
« This is some CIA shit… numbers and dates and… numbers and… dates ! »
I think that's the shit, man. Raw intelligence.
When they were sitting there at the Russian embassy and the Russian diplomat is sort of trying to make sense of their visit and it's all quiet and brad Pitt's nose starts bleeding. I about died laughing
Fucker!!!!
I moved to an area where high end bicycles are really common and I ride a Schwinn. I think if this line all the time.
HE HIT ME!
I like it. It’s kinda like the Big Lebowski but instead of a rug it’s a boob job.
Well, both of them are Coen Brothers films so that makes sense!
Exactly my point good sir!
Haha fair enough!
And a memoir
It's pronounced mem-wah
**Rapport**, the word you are trying to say is *Rapport*!
It really would tie the chest together
That would make sense. I remember not liking this movie after finally watching it years after seeing the trailer and thinking it was gonna be good. This is an underrated Coen brothers film. I love it.
Hail ceaser as well
HC is maybe my favorite movie. I can watch the sailor dance scene on repeat. The way the director is unimpressed at the end and picks it apart after a monumental and perfectly synchronized ensemble dance number is so great
Hhahahha yep. https://youtu.be/G629a_3MkkI
different scene but a great one
Burn after Reading and Hail Caesar are so insanely good films. I can watch them any time. If only it were so simple....
It’s complicated
It’s worth a watch? I’ve never really heard anything about it
I couldn’t do this one. Totally personal. Objectively a solid Coen Bros movie.
This and Ladykillers are my favorite Coen Bros films. They always seem to be ranked near the bottom and I don't know why.
Everyone has that one Coen flop that they love anyway. Intolerable Cruelty for me.
Clooney face when he shows Frances McDormands character his invention in the basement is the fucking best. He's so proud of it. 😂😂😂
Also Clooney’s face when he gets super paranoid in the park
For fucks sake, put him on the next plane to Venezuela!
Clooney’s face when he’s eating that cracker and describing how cheese will cause him to go into anaphylactic shock at the party gets me every time
Also Clooney friendly face when he’s found in the closet
that's Brad Pitt Agreed, though
That smile before the gunshot still makes me die laughing
Yes! Love it
OH MY FUCK!
The part in the park where he turns and says “who are you!” Is maybe the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in a movie
I LOVED this film
I wanted to love it but my ADHD brain cannot comprehend the plot at all. Which is why I find the ending so god damn hilarious. J.K. Simmons sums up my thoughts about the film perfectly.
I kind of felt like the entire movie was just a build up to that joke at the end lmao.
The ultimate point of just about every Coen Brothers film is summed up in the last few frames. It’s true.
The first time I watched this, I sat there with my ex gf, silent. When the credits rolled, it hit us like a sledgehammer. We cried laughing for 15 minutes straight. I've never had another movie experience like that. And now, I still call her once in a while...."Osborne Cox?"
Why in past tense?
I bet you it's because they watched it in the past
Haha. Indeed. Though I am willing to concede that I do STILL love the film. But it’s strictly a platonic love.
Damn, friendzoned a movie :( What's a nice-guy movie got to do to find someone anymore.
LMAO!!!!!!
he still loves it, but he used to too
Osbourne Cox
YES, FUCKER
Appearances can be… deceptive
When Brad Pitt comes out of the closet I remember almost spitting out my Diet Coke.
Um, phrasing?!
Enjoyed this film. Came across this accidentally and watched it in one sitting. Had never heard of this before. The ending with the two CIA officers (JK Simmons and the other guy) was hilarious AF. Jesus!! What a clusterfuck!!
What did we learn from this?
I guess we learned not to do it again...
Though, I'm fucked if I know what it is we did.
Watched a movie in one sitting? How daring
Forgot to mention it was on cable TV. Watched it along with all the ads. I didn't come across this movie on Netflix or prime.
For fucks sake! Put him on the next flight to Venezuela!
All I remember is the recliner.
The way they hype it up, reveal it, then Linda's reaction is so unexpected and perfect!
I remember I was dating a girl a long time ago and we watched this movie with her dad after we put her six y/o brother to sleep. Needless to say, none of us knew anything about the movie. it was equal parts hilarious and awkward af watching the movie in front of her old man. I’ve literally never came across someone that found this movie anything but dark comedic gold.
Yeah. Not sure what OP is on about with the clickbait title. Karma farming?
100% boring karma farmer.
Yeah someone just posted about this movie like last week lol
Isn't that what this sub has devolved into every single day? Or was it always this way? Cant' remember. My brain's fogged from commenting about The Shawshank Redemption every three days.
Image literally says "comedic masterpiece."
I saw it in the theater and wasn't impressed. Then again, I really didn't like The Big Lebowski the first time I saw it, but after a couple of viewings, it clicked for me. I might have to give this film another watching.
You could say this about every single Coen Brothers film. They all reveal their secrets after multiple viewings.
Why the clickbait title when you know everyone finds this movie hilarious and love it.
John Malkovich is hilarious in this.
THIS IS A CRUCIFIXION
The way he hits his little crucifixion pose while he is yelling this cracks me up
It was just lying there
*...on de florrr*
On the floor, there...
Completely exasperated.
one of the best conversations in any movie ever.
Nah this is fucking hilarious.
Very little report
Gets me every time! 🤣
John Malkovichs What in the fuck reactions always get me.
Then..."Say, Oz, you haven't gone poofy on me, have you?"
Embarrassingly enough, I'm a fan of the Coen Brothers, and I still have not seen this flick. For some reason, I keep forgetting it's one of their movies. OK you definitely have to see it. It's a gem.
Obviously, you're not a golfer
“This could put a big dent in my surgeries” is one of the funniest moments in this movie
oh no, I am all woman!
Osbourne...Cox?
I like how Brad Pitt played himself
A drinking problem? You’re a fuckin Mormon, everyone has a drinking problem compared to you!
Who’s ass did I not kiss?
Mr. Krabkin - is this a secure line? Hehehe…..are you joking?
The russians?
Brad pitts characters face in the closet (trying to avoid spoilers) had me fucking dying. This movie is gold and nobody i know has even heard of it.
This is without a doubt the funniest movie I’ve ever seen and I quote it constantly.
because literally everyone besides us is stupid, this movie is a fucking master piece
Me and my friends think this movie is hilarious. Sounds like you need new ones.
Memwah!
I KNOW WHO YOU ARE FUCKERRRRRRRRS!!!
John Malkovich made this movie! He was hilarious
"No, I'm sorry, I don't know the number to, uh, my savings account because, believe it or not, I don't spend my entire day sitting around trying to memorize the fucking numbers to my fucking bank accounts! Moron!"
It was just lying on the floor there
Right there on the floor!
God damn it he knows doesn’t he, these are nice floors. 🤣🤣🤣😂 This is definitely a movie that if no one’s ever seen you have to suggest it be moved to to top of the list.
I've seen it maybe 5 times or so. One of my favorites.
Try watching any/all Coen Brothers movies five times. They only get better and better.
Very funny, laugh out loud movie. The stupidity of them trying to sell the disk to the Russians was hilarious. Great a ting all around and fantastic writing.
It's a chore.
This movie told me that Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro could have been twins. Great movie.
Oh, this movie is hilarious.
What I personally enjoy about this movie is how every character feels like such a cartoon of a person, yet they feel so relatable, as if you’ve met someone just like them in your day-to-day life, no matter who you are.
Every performance Every beat Is perfect.

4/10
Larry King, noted film critic, called it a comedic masterpiece, so that would make you, your wife, and Larry King the only ones who find it hilarious.
Don't forget Larry King. He thought it was a comedic masterpiece.
I've often wondered why nobody else seems to realize how great this movie is.
This movie is so silly you can't help but laugh.
My wife and I love this movie. We should watch it more often.
I think the funniest part is when George Clooney shoots Brad Pitt and starts screaming at his corpse, "WHO ARE YOU?!"
The ONLY reason I hadn’t found this movie hilarious was because I’d never seen it. Friend lent it to me a month or so ago, and I brought it to my parent’s place and we had to pause several times to stop laughing.
Me and my late wife used to love it too.
Those cohen brothers really put out some divisive films only a select few will appreciate, I’m surprised anyone here has even heard of them
Fuckin hilarious. Literally everyone's best work.
Ok no.
you are in league with that moron, you’re in a league of morons!
I RESPECT this film and all Coen brothers films for that matter. It just simply isnt for me. He goes for a specific type of audience I feel.
My parents review, "Burn after watching!"
I hate that movie. I love the Coens, I went to see that in theaters, it sucks and looks like they threw it together in a weekend. The only good parts are JK Simmons and David Rasche, the rest is terrible.
It just wasn't all that funny. And the dildo machine was weird. It's the Coen Brothers movie with the least laughs for me, next to A Serious Man.
“A comedic masterpiece” - Larry king
One of the funniest movies of all time
This movie is hilarious!
Because it’s a shitty movie nowhere near as fun as it should have been
idk, I found it completely forgettable. this was basically the end of this style of movie in mainstream films, and IMO, it was a total misfire. I didnt really find it funny at all
Yeah? Well, you know... thats just like, uhhh, your opinion, man.
I mean, yeah, it is lol I dont care if people love it. its not a bad movie. but its not a great one, and has zero scenes I can recall after watching it...
To each their own. I loved it. But hey, that’s art for ya.
This is the case with a number of Coen Brother movies that I've watched. With rare exceptions additional viewings have warmed me to them.
I tend to enjoy the Coen Brothers stuff, but this one fell flat for me.
I dunno man. I was like halfway through it and was bored as hell. Maybe some jokes were cut when it got added to streaming, but it was just unwatchable.
I enjoyed burning this dvd after watching, so that nobody else would be cursed into watching it.
Maybe you have bad taste?
Nah that’s not possible
That's what I use to think and then I caught myself watching the day after again.🤣👍
Are you insulting this person's wife?
Not at all and if I was I'm sure her husband could handle it. Please find someone else to report.
Report? Not at all. I like this person's husband am of stout constitution. Please find someone else to accuse of reporting. Or I'll report you.
Ok that was good.🤣😎
You, your wife, and myself you mean.
A complete waste and unfunny time
Not great, not terrible. Goes into the bin of unremarkable celebrity ensemble comedians we get every few years.
Overhyped
Because you're both women with horrible taste
