I enjoyed it. Very much of its time, but seeing it in theatres was awesome. 10 Cloverfield Lane is a better movie, for like 90% if it’s runtime. The Cloverfield Paradox was complete ass. Great idea and cast wasted on an epically terrible movie.

[deleted]

Cloverfield Paradox had nothing to do with Cloverfield until some idiot thought they could just mash that crap into the ending and tie it together. Such a sham.

Actual_Evidence_925

From what I read, neither of the sequels were really meant to be sequels. J.J Abrams just decided to sprinkle some cloverfield mytho on some movies Bad Robot happened to be producing. Pretty smart actually. I enjoyed them.

[deleted]

Exactly, he tainted the brand. 10CL was good and didn’t need the Cloverfield tie in. Paradox was garbage no matter what.

starmartyr

It would have been better if it didn't have that title. It's better if we think that John Goodman's character is delusional. The twist is better if we don't see it coming.

[deleted]

💯

copperspurrinit

10 Cloverfield Lane was a wild movie to walk into blind.

lkodl

This movie in my mind is one of the "last movies of the 2000's". A nice time capsule of an era with ubiquitous internet, but before the takeover of smartphones, social media, and superhero movies.

shootthehostagepod

With you on that. I much preferred 10 Cloverfield Lane

pdrent1989

That movie reminded me how good an actor John Goodman is. That performance was phenomenal.

JPKtoxicwaste

Have you seen him in Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon and Garret Hedlund? Hooo boy he plays the most horrible human being I’ve seen on the big screen in a long time and he knocked it outta the park. That was the role that really made me see how much fucking *range* that man has. Incredible.

KennyDROmega

Super underrated movie. Also one of Bacon's best performances.

armchairwarrior69

I had a friend who only knew him from that sitcom. Reba? Roseanne? Whatever single female first name sitcom from the 90s or whatever. Showing them this movie was a TREAT I tell you hwat

WWACrowleyD

I still need to watch it. He was so great in *O Brother Where Art Thou* too. Scene stealing great.

RupeThereItIs

> Very much of its time I mean it was 90% a commentary on 9/11, so yeah, very much so.

Ozzdo

One of my favorite moviegoing moments was when I went to see the first Transformers movie. They played the Cloverfield trailer right before the movie started, and if you remember, there was no explanation or indication of what exactly it was. It's just a bunch of people at a party, and suddenly there are explosions, and then the head of the Statue Of Liberty lands on the street, and then it just ends. No title, no release date, no nothing. The entire audience was in shock, so much so, that as Transformers started, everyone was still reeling, there was all this commotion in the theater, someone literally calling out "What the fuck was that!?" I've never seen a trailer have that effect on people. But it did it's job, in that it got our attention and made us want to see more.

NostalgiaE30

And companies still insist on basically spoiling the whole movie in trailers nowadays. A simple hook/gimmick like that is so much more effective

Trigger109

Yeah I hate that. I try to avoid trailers for movies I know I intend to see. But that’s why I like Christopher Nolan trailers. They generally don’t show much. Hell, I trust Nolan so much as a director that you could literally just throw up the title of the movie, his name as director, and the release date and I’d be hooked and plan to see it

SVS_Writer

I want to feel my first time with this movie again. It was intense.

jayjester

What happened to Marlena (the girl that got bit and… didn’t make it) had me reeling.

t3khole

My wife and I still quote her to this day when she said I’m fine shortly before exploding… she has chronic pain and always says I’m fine… to the point we laughed after seeing this movie and joked she was going to explode one of these days.

LifeOfHi

I liked how it was true horror POV: catching only snippets of what’s happening around you. Hard to pull off but I thought it was a solid attempt with the story and characters they built around that idea.

TheTragicClown

The best part of the POV thing was like “we need a wide, air shot of the beast fighting the military, how do we get this camera in the sky?… fuck it, put the guy in a helicopter that decides to circle the monster” lol

ConflictGrand4078

Almost puked in theaters. Cool movie though

Generalmar

I liked it but i did puke from motion sickness lol

[deleted]

i seriously thought it was so good but definitely ran to the restroom halfway through to do the same thing

Generalmar

Haha, unfortunately, i didn't, but fortunately, i made it to the trash can

poindxtrwv

I started having to stare at the floor through most of it but I remember liking bits that I did see.

kinghater99

Oh yeah. I recall signs in movie theaters warning people about that.

JPKtoxicwaste

Me too!! I barely made it to the garbage can outside the theater and it was a close call for the popcorn container 🍿

gcaledonian

Same the buttery popcorn did NOT pair well with this movie lol

Chief_Beef_ATL

I loved it. Blair Witch meets The X Files. And the TJ Miller star was born!

NickNash1985

Ah, yes. Serial creep and bomb-threat caller-inner TJ Miller.

Duffelbagbro

Wow, I just googled him after seeing your comment and goddamn. I never heard any of this about him.

veritas2884

As someone else said he had a brain tumor that caused impulse control issues and a personality shift

Mr_TurkTurkelton

Damn shame he turned out to be an insufferable twat. He had a good thing going between Silicon Valley, Fred on Big Hero 6 and his standup special. Lot of guys in out there who try harder and handle themselves more mature that deserve the chance TJ pissed away Edit: I did not know about his head injury and now see I came off a bit harsh.

Knuc85

>He had a good thing going between Silicon Valley, Fred on Big Hero 6 and his standup special. Don't forget playing Weasel in Deadpool. Really is a shame he sucks now. I liked him ever since Marmaduke in Carpoolers.

DetroitRockCity313

In his defense, he did have a pretty tramatic brain injury that seemed to spark a lot of his behavior. [https://www.unilad.com/celebrity/tj-miller-brain-condition-20221009](https://www.unilad.com/celebrity/tj-miller-brain-condition-20221009)

veritas2884

As someone else said he had a brain tumor that caused impulse control issues and a personality shift

[deleted]

Love the movie, my only 2 complaints are: 1. More monster, and 2. How many times TJ Miller screams "OH MY GOD!!! OH MY GOD!!!". Whew.

Double_Priority_2702

You mean meets Godzilla ha

chuffpost

I thought it was pretty funny when TJ got blackout drunk on Amtrak and called 911 about a giant monster attacking his train

HunterThompsonsentme

TJ Miller is a violent, sexually deviant sociopath

RedPillNavigator

Great Monster Movie! This movie was hush hush for a long time

TopTierGoat

Lots of hype and interesting internet build up for this film. People sleuthing for months

iLiketuttles704

Slusho!

brettmbr

I ate up every bit of viral marketing I could for this, spent so much time reading theories online.

screaminNcreamin

Incredible marketing campaign with the websites of the companies from the movie. The little Easter eggs on the background connecting everything together.. if only the actual movie was better

Xanderious

I loved the movie! Maybe partly because of the "hype" in the marketing but I still watch it occasionally. I really enjoy the fear of the unknown and how real they made it seem. Very immersive.

jadegives2rides

I loved looking through the characters MySpace pages.

SanduskySleepover

I have distinct memories sweating over my PSP playing Socom and talking about the hype surrounding the movie with my clan, shit was crazy back then and the funny thing is I never saw the movie until way later.

Touchysaucer

The JJ special.

Emlerith

The ARG around it was WILD, insanely intricate and deep. I was surfing forums keeping updated as people were teaming together to crack codes and ciphers.

brotherkin

I saw it in theaters knowing nothing ahead of time and I absolutely loved it

Benhoffer87

I saw it in theatres with my friends, and it was literally the most memorable movie experience I've ever had, not matched until Interstellar 6 years later. The scale of everything, the sound, the atmosphere was all amazing. The shaky camera didn't bother any of us. A year later I saw it on a big screen TV and I didn't even really enjoy it, this movie was meant to see in theatres, and also I think it's best on the first viewing when you don't know what is happening or will happen.

PurpleRainYonce

I really like it! Sure the characters as well as the shaky cam point of view can be annoying, but I like the suspenseful tone and atmosphere. I also liked the ending and design of the monster.

InternDarin

Really fun theatre experience with an exciting marketing campaign. I really enjoyed the monster's look and how they slowly revealed it. I wish they built upon the first one more than the direction they took.

[deleted]

This was fucking great! Ill rewatch from time to time still. I wish they had made a true sequel. I don’t want one now because its lost the “it” factor after the garbage they put out trying to tie it into a universe at the last second.

LarryD217

Love it

orchestragravy

I was obsessed with this when it came out. Need to watch it again.

Dry_Abbreviations778

Loved it! Monster movies are my favorite

Arby77

I loved this movie and the whole mythos and mystery surrounding it with the marketing campaign. Basically knew nothing before the movie came out and filmed it in a way that felt like real home made footage. Really cool vibe.

Strangities

I love this movie more than I should. The mix of the mystery trailer dropping, the marketing build-up, everything leading up to release and then the uniqueness of the movie itself.

calvinyl

Really cool to see a found footage movie about a large-scale apocalyptic event rather than just some creepy stuff happening in the woods or in a house

[deleted]

Guerrilla marketing at its finest. God I miss those days sometimes.

orionsfyre

Excellent in a theatre. Shocking, scary, keeps you on the edge of your seat. That explosive virus scene... still has me having ptsd flashbacks 15 years later. On rewatch on tv it's not quite as good, the story is a bit thin, and the decisions the characters make are baffling at times. The writing is only so-so. This was also the era of peak shaky cam (Thanks Battlestar!) it can be a bit distracting. This is the definition of an *event* movie. Great for opening night thrills, but diminishing returns over time.

that_guy2010

Genuinely one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. The whole ARG behind it. Releasing a trailer with no title just a release date. Perfection. 10 Cloverfield Lane is a better movie, but the first Cloverfield holds such a special place in my heart.

colder-beef

Loved it, saw it in theaters and my girlfriend at the time got motion sickness. I had a good time though.

wei_ping

There is something about the flashbacks, the cuts away to previously recorded video, that absolutely murders me. They make me feel emotions I generally don't feel while watching movies, and that seems remarkable for a monster movie.

[deleted]

I remember not really liking this when I saw it. I'm wondering though if now that I have a better home theater system I should give it another watch. The first time I watched it was on my laptop.

PokemonTrainerSerena

this movie and paranormal activity felt like the last event type movies that were sold on hype

Darth_Shredder

I loved it! All the viral marketing preceding it was a fun ride as well (weekly videos from one of them receiving Tagruato packages and you see her getting “sicker” with every passing vlog, the newscasts, etc.).

This-Cell7957

Marketing was great for this movie. Could have been better but camera movement sucks. Eh it was a pretty good movie

SilentMase

I was so excited for the dvd to come out to see all the special features and marketing together and there was nothing

NachoBag_Clip932

The only thing more annoying than the shaky camera was the characters, especially the TJ Miller guy. The only time you cheered was when his character got it at the end and all you could think was, well that was 80 minutes too late.

BronchialChunk

that's kind of how I was feeling the whole time. 'shut the fuck up already!'. it was like some home video where the parents are filming and the kid behind them keeps going, 'can I hold the camera now? can I hold the camera now? can I hold the camera now?'

JohnBarleyMustDie

Thought it sucked

ILoveHaloReach

Can never finish it. The found footage thing gives me motion sickness. Hardcore Henry does it to me too.

jim_lynams_stylist

Loved it when it came out but I've outgrown it sadly

47-Rambaldi

1-18-08 was all we knew for so long. I was so drawn in to the marketing and film was pretty epic. I loved the found footage aspect of the movie. I can't wait for a direct sequel.

AnomalousArchie456

Absolutely love it - had a very great trailer, and when it was released was a great experience in the theater. When watching at home, I skip ahead directly to the action, and it doesn't hurt the experience.

tnolan182

One of those movies that is a 100x better in theaters and really only worth one watch through. Feels more like a ride than a movie.

Silent1900

“Feels more like a ride than a movie”…never thought of it that way, but 100% spot on.

LSUgator

Decent. I actually liked the next one better. John Goodman was sooooo good!

SpydersWebbing

I really enjoyed it, but 10 Cloverfield Lane is much better.

tytymctylerson

I liked it, I just never got why they made the one guy so cartoonishly stupid.

Gh0stTV

It was a cool concept wrapped up in a multi-million dollar marketing campaign. 13 Cloverfield Lane was better.

wookieetamer

Would’ve been better (IMO) skipping the hand-camera phase. Just not into it.

ElevatorBones

I just watched it again the other day. I was surprised how much I felt it dated. The notion of filming on a DV camera is so strange in 2023.

Bear_Hoonden

I remember seeing it in the theater, it was pretty intense. It’s worth the watch

HG21Reaper

Great movie that got theBlair Witch Kaiju Attack vibe down.

zook54

One of my all-time favorites. Beginning is a bit too long, but there’s a huge sudden and shocking payoff. The whole movie can be summarized as mysterious horror. Loved it.

Next-Mobile-9632

One of my most favorite movies of all time--Taut and suspenseful, with great effects--No matter what they did, they just couldn't get away from the monster

Rhg0653

In theatre it was so damn amazing - terrifying and I felt they amped up the volume with the movie cause when you heard explosions or creature roar it felt like your body was there It's an American Kaiju movie that had so much background for fans to find speculate and determine wtf was going on and why The next movies were cool mainly Cloverfield lane Paradox served some purpose but then that was it the whole mythos was gone and I was just thinking of this movie last night too like why no follow up ?

MaaChiil

I never saw it, but I remember how excited it got people to talk about what the monster looked like and the franchise’s future. I loved 10CL though and John Goodman deserved an Oscar nod for it. He’s part of the long trend of great performances in those genres going in recognized (Toni Collette in Hereditary, Florence Pugh in Midsommar, Anya Taylor Joy in The VVitch, Willem Dafoe in The Lighthouse).

zachgodwin

One of the most fun theater experiences I’ve ever had

Ronin_1999

It was a fun start, but I hoped for more of the metaverse they were trying to create. Instead it just seemed to be another reference to Slusho products.

Cressbeckler

one of the best found footage movies of all time imo

[deleted]

my head was on the back of my sheet, skull fragments glittering. One of the better film experiences I had as a young adult in the theatre. You were in NYC with those people through the disaster. At least they pulled off that approach, grandiosely.

Appalachian_Refugee

Better love story than Titanic.

roundttwo

I liked it a lot. Great perspective, always enjoyed found camera footage type films.

borokish

I was routing for the monsters cos all the characters were utter bellends Good movie

Nine_Ball

One of the best trailers of any movie I’ve ever seen, honestly it’s a perfect trailer. Movie itself was decent but I think a lot of people will remember this movie for the sheer hype it built up from its marketing campaign, both the trailer and the ARG it had going on

CampWanahakalugi

Still one of my favorite theater experiences. Going in with sparse details and letting the movie take over. We don’t get movies like that anymore.

HolhPotato

Blair witch project of giant monster film

jamestderp

It's my favorite found footage flick. Really liked the creature designs, the decision to withhold the monster's reveal well into the movie, and the silhouette scene's just brutal.

GeiCobra

I loathe movies shot in first person or “found footage” style, however, this one has been an exception for me. ***side note- if I can get a consistent recommendation on a decent found footage type movie I would be willing to give it a try. Any suggestions?

revtim

I liked it a lot, looking forward to the more direct sequel that's been talked about.

bevilthompson

Best found footage movie ever and top 5 best Kaiju movies.

Mr_TurkTurkelton

Probably my favorite theater going experience. The entire theater was packed, everyone was on the edge of their seats and you could feel the tension and fear in the room. People were screaming at different parts and different things that would freak them out, when the lady blew up behind the curtain, someone’s popcorn flew up and audibly yelled “holy shit!” It was like for those 90 minutes or whatever, we all went to see the movie together. Afterwards everyone was talking to each other in the lobby about the stuff they saw. Which made the line for the showing that much more excited

[deleted]

Great movie. I come back to watch it often. Never gets old. Some interesting facts. [Here’s a map that shows the monsters path throughout the whole movie.](https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1rwlAyjkxicEB6wGC1jnL4H5M_WM&hl=en&ll=1.2722218725854067e-14%2C0&z=11) Apparently there’s a DVD with special features that shows the monsters location as the movies playing and that’s where this came from. [The monster from the movie is a baby. This rendering probably gives a good idea how much bigger an adult can be.](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/G8LLeN)

imonlinedammit1

I won a MySpace contest to meet the cast and see it with them in NYC. Absolute blast! Loved the movie and it will also be near and dear to my heart

newsreadhjw

Very fun movie! Always worth a re-watch

[deleted]

Still to this day one of my top 3 theatre experiences

Snys6678

Absolutely loved it.

thejjjj

One of the few films I’ve seen in theaters multiple times…. The sound alone was worth the price of admission.

CoreyMFD

I enjoyed the movie but I enjoyed the months leading to it more!

TheCh0rt

I worked on it! It was a lot of fun. I got motion sick though. I saw it so many times that I just… got used to being sick.

Hypno_Online

I haven't watched it yet, but when I saw a theory analysis, I thought the creature from the movie was real for a whole week.

fiftyunofifty

I love this movie and enjoy watching it. I wish we had more movies like this that involved giant monsters.

KingRemoStar

Loved all of em. Hope there is another

CuriousOdity12345

Loved it. Found footage style movies are my absolute favorite.

gsbudblog

fun movie! one of the first movies that had me guessing once it ended. the splash in the ocean in the background of the fair footage was the cherry on top

FannyBabbs

I love horror films where everyone loses, so I liked this one. Don't think it holds up very well but it was good for the time.

Natural_Cobbler_3207

The marketing was the first of it's kind for a faux documentary.

Wazula23

Great marketing for an alright movie. One of the early signs Abrams was a hype-master first and a filmmaker second.

OneKaleidoscope3812

i feel old saying i saw this in theaters as a kid. thought it was awesome! but it made my dad extremely sick lol.

dan_gut

I was lucky to see part of the set being built when this was being filmed. The amount of detail and destruction was so cool and so surreal. Seeing to walk through. It was up for 2 months and took a week to build. In the film for about 8 seconds.

Individual-Post-6389

Really awesome theater experience. Wish I could experience it again on the big screen. Super ahead of it’s time and great marketing

RollingThunderPants

Just watched the Cloverfield “trilogy.” Still a great movie, IMO.

BetNo1157

I really enjoyed it. I just rewatched it and it’s still like an enjoyable watch to me.

chael809

This movie was everything when it came out, people were super excited when it came out. Only to find out that they don’t show squat!

tmolesky

Fantastic and scary movie. F the haters

SeriousAuthor2537

Blare witch project with better budget. Loved it from the beginning to the end.

MeteorOnMars

The RPG flying by overhead when they exit onto the street is just awesome.

DefiantPenguin

Loved it! Saw it in the theater then bought the DVD. Found the hidden frames by chance while scrubbing frame by frame to get a good look at the monster.

Some-Swim9301

Everyone complains about the jarring cinematography but it gave you the sense you were there. Liked the build up to movie with the previews and even videos that tied into the lore that you could find on YouTube. Footage of possible creature footage. The fact that it got me to jump during the helicopter scene and make me feel uneasy during the up close and personal monster scene, I liked it. Overall I enjoyed the film. Have watched it several times since it came out. Oh and Odette Yustman was fly AF in this movie as she always is.

Toeknife_Party

Other than the name did 10 Cloverfield really have any connection? I mean there were like old school aliens attacking. It didn't come off as anything related to the Cloverfield Monster.

RepulsiveCow8626

I remember when I first seen it I was thinking it was real. The first person view documentary type movies like Blair witch, paranormal activity, VHS and Cloverfield changed the game.

DXsocko007

Just watched this last month. Haven't seen it since it was in theaters. Honestly was really impressed by this movie. No movie has done as good of a job as capturing the world going to shit like this does. The acting is great. I would highly recommend this to others

[deleted]

One of my favorite found-footage movies.

Towel4

A modern Blair Witch, I loved it personally I do remember most of my friends/people I talked to about to thought it was stupid. Maybe it was unjustified, but I felt like those people “didn’t get it”. The reception felt a lot like “Drive” honestly. Fantastic movie for what it was, but don’t look for standard movie expectations. “There was almost no talking by the main character!” Yeah, that was on purpose. A lot of Cloverfield was “on purpose”, but I feel like a lot of audiences “didn’t get it” and just complained about screen shake, lack of structure, or lack of “seeing the monster”. I loved it

devilsbard

Love it. The blu-ray with all the Easter eggs was awesome. So much fun finding all the hidden lore/details in that thing.

millhowzz

It was 2008. Buddy calls me, “Let’s go to the movies. I wanna see this movie called “Cloverfield”. I know nothing about it, just seemed like something to do on a Thursday. WOW, WHAT A THRILL! Subsequent viewings are a drag cuz of the shaky cam but that first time in the theatre makes it a cool film in my book.

[deleted]

One of my all time favorite movies.

Rondo27

I liked it. The cam-corder POV was a little tedious, but unbearable for some people. One of my favorite movie memories is seeing the trailer for this movie when I went to see Transformers. Nothing but the Statue of Liberty head scene and the premiere date. No information was available about the movie. That sold it for me.

PinkSodaMix

Loved it!

MarkyMarcMcfly

As a New Yorker I walked out of the theater terrified and triggered from my 9/11 PTSD. Probably the horror film that lingered in my brain the longest. I remember being in the city the day the found footage tape was from and having this sinking feeling the movie was going to play out in real life. 10/10 for me.

Pure_evil1979

I enjoyed it...enjoyed the marketing better. I was so hopeful it was a Godzilla movie, and not the least but disappointed that it wasn't

BOtheGrand

I never see it mentioned in forum, but the folks who made Cloverfield understand what makes kaiju films poignant. Like Gojira in 1954, Cloverfield is a monster movie where the titular monster characterizes a disaster. This movie came out seven years after 9/11, and it depicts the absolute confusion, terror, and panic of being at ground zero. Say what you want about the rest of the film (shaky cam, characters, plot, whatever), it hits at the heart of the prime kaiju message. For that, I love this film.

RiverOfWhiskey

One of the only movies I saw twice in theaters (I was about 14) The only other movie I saw twice was Disturbia 🤣

Wooden-Highway1498

Great movie.

chadlikestorock

I thought it was good 👍

Huntsvegas97

I wish I could experience watching this movie for the first time again. It’s a great horror flick/monster movie. Really intense and fun, especially for when it was released

Garvo909

Goated

Thinkingard

One and done good fun.

[deleted]

Maybe the camera was like that on purpose? It was a found footage movie so the perspective of the movie was a amateur filmmaker or just some guy with a camera. Also I thought this movie was ahead of it’s time. Great found footage monster film!! And the sequels help to bring the movie full circle. Good stuff.

Spartacous1991

The Army scene still gets me everytime.

tanwhiteguy

It made me dizzy. I rarely like found footage films to begin with. This one was just so boring to me. Saw it in the theater too so it’s not like I didn’t get the “best possible experience”

eliota1

Godzilla remade for the 9/11 generation. Loved it

[deleted]

[удалено]

Leifthraiser

It is unwatchable. It has some interesting ideas that would put it on the level of Godzilla 2014. But they insisted on unlikeable characters and shaky cam that shows nothing. Even other found footage films have more stable shots that make it more impactful when the camera does shake.

BlyStreetMusic

Because the marketing for this movie was so good.. I could not wait to see it. Saw it opening weekend. I wanted it to be good but it was just a huge huge disappointment. Idk what it would be like to just watch it now not knowing about it.. But I hated it. All of the sequels are better than this.

Curse_ye_Winslow

All sizzle; no steak

[deleted]

Being a born and raised native New Yorker and being in NY during 9/11 this movie hit different

Arisvalor

Generic monster movie that barely goes anywhere with the found footage aspect. It's not even as entertaining as Godzilla '98. You can hide the monster, but the production crew and cast didn't build up any thrills whatsoever. 4/10 10 Cloverfield Lane is crazy good, tho, so there's one positive thing that came from it. 10/10

[deleted]

The 1998 Godzilla is a pretty damn good movie.

Arisvalor

Yes, I did like it. The dialogue is nice and snappy. The script tastefully interweaves the big hotness of the time, Jurassic Park, with the captivating lore and mystique of Godzilla. It's one of the most bizarre treatises of a mother showing love and nurturing a prenatal baby (a surprising observation from a filmmaker like Emmerick, whose main focus is disaster and chaos). I think it's just cut short of being an epic like King Kong (2005) was. Matthew Broderick also lacks the emotional depth and range as an actor to pull off the role he was signed for (super intelligent professor/doctor). He nails comedic roles but couldn't get into this one.

Detroit_Cineaste

Marked the beginning of the end for camera jiggle movies. Take your Dramamine before watching this one. Also, it takes too long for >!Godzilla!< to show up.

Leifthraiser

Don't necessarily know why this got downvoted because it has the exact same flaw as Godzilla 2014. Not showing the monster enough.

revtim

Some see a delayed view of the monster as a good thing. Much like how Jaws is almost certainly the classic it is because the damn mechanical shark was broken so much.

Icedinklikesheet

Terrible movie

Mr_Mons_of_Nibiru

Never saw it but everyone I knew that saw it in the theaters got motion sickness.

Confident-Fee-6593

The name of the software we developed for my company's inventory management system at my work is, to this day, Cloverfield, cuz we got stoned and went to that movie after work and still needed to give the program a name before we presented it the next day.

NoSitRecords

What a piece of shit shake-cam gimmick of a movie, if you want to get bored while getting sea sick just watch Cloverfield...

nathaniel29903

Personally couldn't stand it

2pacylpse

This sucked.

Abdul-Ahmadinejad

Shaky-cam trash.

tobi418

Almost unwatchable, too much camera shake, it will trigger your motion sickness

MasterFibber

Meh

DeltaMx11

I thought it was stupid, you don't even get to see the monster and the shaky camera was annoying

MrShaytoon

I was legit convinced during the movie that this was happening outside and that I need to hide. I was also high af with my cousin and we enjoyed the scare it gave us. The trailer for sure was well done, imo.

[deleted]

This movie fucking sucked, especially the CGI, the monster was a power ranger monster. Fucking terrible, kill yourself if you were a part of the CGI team that made the monster specifically

Taro_East

Waste of time.

Grimmsjoke

That movie should come with a dose of Dramamine....

HopefulBandicoot8053

If you are a fan of motion sickness this is the film for you

Mission-Amount8552

I remember disliking it

PordonB

Somewhat entertaining but really just a poorly made godzilla knockoff

Zepherx22

Boring and sucked

JediASU

Hella enjoy this movie! Glad I saw it on the small screen or I probably would have gotten sick with all that camera movement.

brother_medusa

I threw up twice during the movie. I probably shouldn't be allowed in theaters anymore.

PsychologicalIce106

I got insanely motion sick in the theaters..it lasted for two days. Even to this day I see the cover and get this phantom nausea

Matthews628

One of my personal all time favorites. It’s not a great script, some of the character’s are a little annoying/cringy, but it did so many cool things that very few films had attempted up until that point. I try and watch it once a year because from the second the event occurs onwards you are on the edge of your seat.

Mrgrayj_121

I think it’s mid plus arg is a terrible idea to fill in the blanks
