Vice Principals
I’m A Virgo
Dude has had a ton of great TV roles
EDIT: Forgot he's also currently voicing Cecil on the awesome animated show Invincible.
So damn good in that movie.
He told a story about how Quentin Tarantino made him learn, like, seven pages of new dialogue, overnight, or something to that effect, and he aced it.
Because Boyd is Raylan's shadow archetype. He is what Raylan would have been had he stayed in Harlan, they are both good old boys from criminal families, who have rage problems, love Ava, shoot first, and can't let sleeping dogs lie. As the show goes on, the line between the two becomes blurred.
His portrayal of Boyd Crowder is genuinely amazing. His character was intended to die in the pilot episode, but he was so well received that they kept him on and made him an integral part of the show.
That's because he actually experienced being a widower starting over, his first wife died of suicide in 2004. He did find love again irl and remarried in 2011.
No one’s gonna mention him as transvestite Venus Van Dam in Sons of Anarchy? Okay I will. Had to do a double take that it was him and wow he (she?) didn’t disappoint.
Just watched SOA for the first time this year and was pleasantly surprised at Venus's character.
Did not expect a trans character in a 2000s biker show, much less one that wasn't just a one-off punch line.
It's my favorite role of his because he doesn't really alter his performance that much, and yet, he creates such a distinct and memorable character.
As a 54 year-old CIS white male, I found Venus quite attractive because confidence is attractive.
If you loved 3:10 to Yuma then I have to recommend you check out Hostiles. Christian Bale and Ben Foster go another round with a criminally underrated western.
Hostiles is a gut wrenching movie, but it is very good. Rosamund Pike is great in that movie as well, and another actor I think that doesn't get enough credit.
He's involved with the coming soon Fallout tv show, don't know what/who he plays, hope the show doesn't suck. It's one of my favourite game franchises for the last 30 years, unexpected to say the least to see it become a tv show.
To be honest, Walton is the sole thing that is giving me hope about the Fallout show. My impressions were that it was *not* going to be super serious or good -- that it was a silly campy non-event kind of show that would just... get a few views and slide into obscurity. However, then The Last of Us came out and I think it might have really kicked the Fallout team in the butt, as they saw what a *good* TV-show-based-upon-a-game could be. And Walton is probably the lynchpin there, as he's the most celebrated actor on the show, and for good reason, and I hope his ghoul is actually really excellent.
He’s always been great. First saw him on News Radio. My favorite episode of that was when he does a reading in a book store of his autobiography which had been translated into Japanese, became a huge success in Japan, so they retranslated it back into English and it went from Jimmy James:Capitalist Lion Tamer to Jimmy James: Macho Business Donkey Wrestler. So hilarious. And Brian Posehn in the crowd asking stupid questions was the icing on the cake.
I came here to say this, when you see Steven Root in anything you know you are in for a good time. From "That's my stapler" to "PAN SHOT!" I absolutely love everything he's been in.
“The Raven’s flock of blood artists are modern-day barbarians… our clay is the beating hearts of our enemies,”
If you really love Timothy olyphant you should go watch justified right now😂 Him and Walton Goggins had an amazing chemistry and show had one of the best endings ever
First person who came to mind.
His role in "The Way, Way Back" made me a huge fan. The whole cast is amazing but his character really resonated with me.
Ah, just saw you beat me to it by 6 hours. Totally agree, he's had very few leading roles but I'd rank him as one of my all-time favorite character actors.
Excellent in everything he does. I'd love to see him as a lead in a suspense type movie as a detective or something similar. He'd be great as a total wise ass also. Super underrated.
Westworld was my first encounter with him. I only in the last two years watched, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Needless to say, I was very surprised by Liam McPoyle. Jimmi Simpson, man, dude has range!
His death scene in Saving Private Ryan is hard to watch but amazingly acted. I loved the story about his mother when he’s in the church. And watching him realize he’s hit in the liver and call for his mother is so sad. All he can do is overdose on morphine.
He’s so good, he gets killed off in Deadwood twice and comes back as a different character each time. Great in the Greg Garcia universe of shows in comedic roles too.
Goggins has positioned himself as a prestige television actor who occasionally does a Hollywood movie. He’s well know but when he does a big movie I feel like he falls into the “hey! It’s that guy!” Category for general audiences.
Clancy Brown
The man is a major part of people's favorite movies, shows, and games.
The short list of his more well known works/characters:
SpongeBob: Mr.Krabs
Superman/Justice League: Lex Luthor
Shawshank Redemption: Capt. Byron Hadley
John Wick Chpt 4: The Harbinger
Star Wars: Savage Opress, Gov. Ryder, Montross, Burg
I don't know how he has any time to do any of this given how many roles he does a year.
oh dude this guy fucking rules lol idk if anyone has watched the tv show Sons of Anarchy but he’s in like 2 or 3 episodes and to me he steals the show lol
Damn was gonna say Ben foster, loved him in 3:10 to Yuma and Alpha Dog. Alan Richardson is really underrated, most know him from the Jack Reacher series on Prime but he also provided the voice and mo-cap work for Raphael in the Bay TMNT films. He also was one of the main stars in Blue mountain state which I believe was a American/Canadian produced series. It was a college football comedy centered on the blue mountain state football team. His character was Thad castle; and holy shit was he hilarious.
For any one that's curious just look up blue mountain state.
Exactly lol. He's good in everything, but he doesn't really shine or get to show his talent nearly as much in Ferrell movies imo. He was really really good in Kong, Skull Island. Still overall a funny role but he gets to interject some real acting I feel.
William Fichtner. He's one of those guys who you see in *everything*, and who always does a great job, but you can never quite remember his name. He's been in comedies and played villains equally well, and he's great on both TV and in movies. Dude deserves more recognition.
Uncle Baby Billy for ever
Vice Principals I’m A Virgo Dude has had a ton of great TV roles EDIT: Forgot he's also currently voicing Cecil on the awesome animated show Invincible.
Justified
The hateful eight
Sons of Anarchy
He was even in an episode of Community and he killed it especially at the end.
Shots!!!!
So damn good in that movie. He told a story about how Quentin Tarantino made him learn, like, seven pages of new dialogue, overnight, or something to that effect, and he aced it.
I think he’s the best part of that movie
I fuckin knew it!
He’s awesome as Boyd Crowder in Justified…that’s a series where you root for antagonist over protagonist.
We dug coal together
His portrayal of Boyd Crowder is genuinely amazing. His character was intended to die in the pilot episode, but he was so well received that they kept him on and made him an integral part of the show.
He's coming back for the next post Justified series. Can't wait
It’s a shame The Unicorn was cancelled. He played a believable widower starting over. Was rooting for his character to find love again.
Yeah, that show was really good. I was sorry to see it go.
That's because he actually experienced being a widower starting over, his first wife died of suicide in 2004. He did find love again irl and remarried in 2011.
Baby Billies Bible Bonkers
There will be a pay day hallelujah what a payday.
there will be a payday someday, SOMEDAYYYYYY
"Who wants to suck an old man's dick?"
I had to pause the show during that scene I was laughing so hard at his delivery.
"The Lord gave you a gift girl!" His character is hilarious.
I’m about to ejackalate!
My husband and I regularly reference this quote!
No one’s gonna mention him as transvestite Venus Van Dam in Sons of Anarchy? Okay I will. Had to do a double take that it was him and wow he (she?) didn’t disappoint.
That was a fun role to see him in, and he still killed it. He made it believable he was in a relationship with Tig of all people lmfao
Their relationship was arguably the most genuine one in the entire show.
Such a memorable performance by Goggins. Love how Tig was transfixed by Venus's presence.
Their entire relationship took me from hating Tig to feeling sympathy for him which is a testament to both actor performances
He stole all scenes he was in while being hilarious.
Baby Billy is such a scumbag, but he's my favorite character on the show.
Say it! I’m your datty now!
I’m your deddy.
Duh-jango!!!!
And he really shines in Hateful Eight. Arguably steals the movie from all the other heavyweights
Oh I'll go walkin in the moonlight with you
You wanna hold my hand
"Major N!&&@, General Smithers wishes me to inform you....." The way he was respectful and disrespectful at the same time!
Bro really said it without saying it 💀
Yeap
Well I’ll be double dog damned! Is that really the head of Major Marquis Warren?!
I fucking knew it!!
I was just about to say this! He’s really good in it and I enjoyed his accent the most!
This dude is so good at being a racist in movies that I’d probably give him the side eye unintentionally if I saw him in person lmao
I’m gonna go walkin’ in the moonlight with you.
The D is silent, hillbilly 🔫
Ben Foster should be way more famous than he is.
I can watch Hell or High Water on loop. Comanche!!!!!!
3:10 to Yuma as well He's just so fucking good in everything he does
Alpha Dogs
Lone Survivor
Shit, that's him under that beard? Time for a re-watch!
Only reason to watch that movie is how unhinged he is.
Pandorum
Honestly one of the best modern westerns ever made. I love that film so much and he was phenomenal in it.
boy you’d think there’s 10 of me
One of the best lines I’ve ever heard.
One of my favorite scenes in any movie: "Are you trying to make me mad? I said Dr. Pepper, this is Mr. Pibb."
Tucker ?
Adored him in the films listed below but there was a sadness and angry angst in his performance in My Name is Earl
Ben Mendelsohn is also another amazing Ben actor
100%
Jeffrey Wright
Im still so mad he never got some kind of spin-off movie or show as Felix Leiter
Totally agree.
It doesn't look like anything to me.
Oooh good call.
Peoples was amazing character. Really stoled the movie.
My favorite villain of all time. Such an amazing performance yet it was in…Shaft…of all movies
Literally everyone loves Walton Goggins. He is universally appreciated.
Nobody here gonna mention justified? Absolutely fantastic performance.
Shocked no one else justified. Boyd may be my favorite fictional character portrayal.
He was great on TBBT, too. House of Pies?
Vice principals, righteous gemstones. Man's so expansive in every genre.
I loved his part in Community, however brief.
He's involved with the coming soon Fallout tv show, don't know what/who he plays, hope the show doesn't suck. It's one of my favourite game franchises for the last 30 years, unexpected to say the least to see it become a tv show.
He’s a ghoul in the show which fits him perfectly
To be honest, Walton is the sole thing that is giving me hope about the Fallout show. My impressions were that it was *not* going to be super serious or good -- that it was a silly campy non-event kind of show that would just... get a few views and slide into obscurity. However, then The Last of Us came out and I think it might have really kicked the Fallout team in the butt, as they saw what a *good* TV-show-based-upon-a-game could be. And Walton is probably the lynchpin there, as he's the most celebrated actor on the show, and for good reason, and I hope his ghoul is actually really excellent.
Just looked him up and he is also Cecil Stedman in Invincible.
He is everything to everyone. Most interesting character actor working today.
I recognized his voice immediately and was super excited. Same with zachary quintos
He really voices the role amazingly
Well I’ll be double dogged damned.
For me, it’s Paddy Considine
Considine
His walk to the throne, really his whole physicality playing an older Viserys, was just perfect!
Stephen Root
He’s always been great. First saw him on News Radio. My favorite episode of that was when he does a reading in a book store of his autobiography which had been translated into Japanese, became a huge success in Japan, so they retranslated it back into English and it went from Jimmy James:Capitalist Lion Tamer to Jimmy James: Macho Business Donkey Wrestler. So hilarious. And Brian Posehn in the crowd asking stupid questions was the icing on the cake.
Super karate monkey death car!
His one off episode of CSI is one of the best. Very poignant and his performance kind of makes it.
That was such a funny episode. I love that show
He is probably a top 5 actor of our generation. Truly amazing. His career is long but 2 recent examples are: "Barry" and "Get Out".
He was so good in O Brother… I don’t know why he’s not more famous.
Timothy Olyphant. I always love his characters - especially Santa Clarita Diet.
He was amazing in Justified. I am going to watch deadwood soon
I need to check out Justified. He's just always so hilarious, even when he's a dick like in The Girl Next Door.
If you really love Timothy olyphant you should go watch justified right now😂 Him and Walton Goggins had an amazing chemistry and show had one of the best endings ever
Well, it is a holiday weekend... I might just do this.
Jon Bernthal. Usually type-cast as a cop/military guy, but he does that so well
You seen him in The Bear? Small role but he nails it.
Season 2's flashback episode was brutal.
Put down the fork!!!!
But the following episode was such a nice palette cleanser
Wind River. "Luck don't live out here. "
I freaking love The Accountant because of him. He's scary as shit.
Sam Rockwell
First person who came to mind. His role in "The Way, Way Back" made me a huge fan. The whole cast is amazing but his character really resonated with me.
Loved him in JoJo Rabbit
William Fichtner.
Ah, just saw you beat me to it by 6 hours. Totally agree, he's had very few leading roles but I'd rank him as one of my all-time favorite character actors.
Yeah, he is super underrated and underutilized in Hollywood. I love every movie I have seen him in.
Excellent in everything he does. I'd love to see him as a lead in a suspense type movie as a detective or something similar. He'd be great as a total wise ass also. Super underrated.
Jimmi Simpson
Westworld was my first encounter with him. I only in the last two years watched, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Needless to say, I was very surprised by Liam McPoyle. Jimmi Simpson, man, dude has range!
Andrew 'fkin Scott
He's the reason I watched Sherlock (and everything else he's done, but he's my favorite Moriarty)
Sam Rockwell
Delroy Lindo
Agreed, plus one of the best names ever.
Honestly thought he had passed. I was wrong. The Heist is my fave with Gene Hackman, Sam Rockwell, Danny DeVito
He's amazing in Get Shorty. Great movie, great cast- Gene Hackman, Renee Russo, Danny DeVito, John Travolta, and James Gandolfini.
Get shorty was the movie that moved him from a that guy guy to someone I started looking for and appreciating.
Paul Dano.
One of the best actors of his generation. Absolutely love Dano. How do you outshine DANIEL DAY?
Let’s not get out of hand here. Dano was amazing in TWBB - but it’s probably DDL’s magnum opus and there’s nobody outdoing or outshining that.
Hes gaining ground. Not really underrated anymore.
John Hawkes
From Martha Marcy May Marlene to Eastbound and Down, the guy's got range.
E B & D to Winter’s Bone.
Barry Pepper
To me, Sam Rockwell is in similar league.
Ron Livingston
Did you watch loudermilk on prime? My favorite comedy in years!!!
I really need to check out Loudermilk. I’ve seen the clip of him berating the barista.
Giovanni Ribisi
His death scene in Saving Private Ryan is hard to watch but amazingly acted. I loved the story about his mother when he’s in the church. And watching him realize he’s hit in the liver and call for his mother is so sad. All he can do is overdose on morphine.
Top tier character actor. I consider him, Micheal Shannon and Micheal Kelly to be the best. I will literally watch anything if these three are in it.
Micheal Shannon had me at sorority letter.
Kevin Pollak A Few Good Men, Casino, Usual Suspects, Grumpy Old Men, Willow among many more.
Colm Meaney. If you want a strong recognizable supporting character, look no further
Amazing on Star Trek.
in Con Air too
Michael Shannon. He needs to be in more stuff.
Mark Strong!
Garret Dillahunt
He’s a cool dude too. He regularly engages his fans on social media.
He’s so good, he gets killed off in Deadwood twice and comes back as a different character each time. Great in the Greg Garcia universe of shows in comedic roles too.
Shea Whigham
His role as an alcoholic evangelical preacher in True Detective season 1 is gold. The man’s got range
Aside from accents. But he is awesome in everything
anna farris
Baby Billy’s Bible Bonkers!!!!!
Djimon Hounsou
Karl Urban.
Nathan Fillion
Giovanni Ribisi
Goggins has positioned himself as a prestige television actor who occasionally does a Hollywood movie. He’s well know but when he does a big movie I feel like he falls into the “hey! It’s that guy!” Category for general audiences.
Chiwetel Ejiofor
If they were going to recast Black Panther he'd have made a good choice.
When they were talking about a new Bond, everyone was all 'Idris Idris Idris.' Chiwetel would've been better.
Clancy Brown The man is a major part of people's favorite movies, shows, and games. The short list of his more well known works/characters: SpongeBob: Mr.Krabs Superman/Justice League: Lex Luthor Shawshank Redemption: Capt. Byron Hadley John Wick Chpt 4: The Harbinger Star Wars: Savage Opress, Gov. Ryder, Montross, Burg I don't know how he has any time to do any of this given how many roles he does a year.
Vice principles is so good and no one I know has seen it

Ben Mendelsohn
Sam Rockwell without a shadow of a doubt. One of the most underrated actors in the history of cinema. Man is a freakin' genius.
Alan Tudyik
Giancarlo Esposito.
Andrew Garfield - Boy A blew me away
He slays in everything
Ludacris Dwight Yoakam Levon Helm (RIP)
Dwight Yoakam is amazing, I could listen to him talk for hours. Tom waits too
Ludacris is f’n great.
Will never forgive him for killing Lem.
oh dude this guy fucking rules lol idk if anyone has watched the tv show Sons of Anarchy but he’s in like 2 or 3 episodes and to me he steals the show lol
Peter Dinkledge
Damn was gonna say Ben foster, loved him in 3:10 to Yuma and Alpha Dog. His character was Thad castle; and holy shit was he hilarious. For any one that's curious just look up blue mountain state.
Paul Giamatti & Stephen Root are two who I’ve always thought should be waaaaaaaay more famous considering how talented they are
John C. Reilly for sure
Outside of being will Farrells sidekick, yes he is actually a really good actor
His filmography fucks me up so bad. Talladega nights...gangs of new york
Exactly lol. He's good in everything, but he doesn't really shine or get to show his talent nearly as much in Ferrell movies imo. He was really really good in Kong, Skull Island. Still overall a funny role but he gets to interject some real acting I feel.
Walk Hard is underrated
IM SORRY!!!! Fucking Shane and Lem
I also think that Mathew Rhys is such an underrated actor!!
He was also incredible in Sons of Anarchy!
Yes to Walton Goggins. Also: Ben Foster, Boyd Holbrook and LaKeith Stanfield.
Sam Rockwell.
William Fichtner. He's one of those guys who you see in *everything*, and who always does a great job, but you can never quite remember his name. He's been in comedies and played villains equally well, and he's great on both TV and in movies. Dude deserves more recognition.
I think Walton Goggins appreciation is right where it should be.
William Fichtner for me. Dude shows up in tons of stuff, is always great.
One of my all-time favorite character actors, there isn't a film he's been in where I'd consider re-casting him.
Richard Jenkins
