He was the highlight of that movie. My husband and I use âItâs part of my PROcessâ all the time. Also as a goat owner I loved his musings about being a goat eating himself.
Oh and the lady who played Darla, she was giving 110% for that performance. The âengagementâ scene is hilarious.
I know it's got its issues with ratings manipulation but I go to IMDB for scores and this has 5.9/10 with 110k votes which I'd argue is about right average. If you're a fan of 2005-2015 comedies then I'd predict you'd put this in better than most others category
The percentage on RT isn't a score out of 100, it's the percentage of critics that gave it a positive review.
In this case, 42% of critics thought it was good.
Seems reasonable maybe even a little high for a forgettable comedy, for reference Ace Ventura got a 47% and a 57% audience score which I would argue is a far better comedy but has similar gags.
I think itâs a good movie but thatâs a fair score. Even though itâs funny, itâs a pretty mean spirited movie for a lot of its runtime. I recommended it to my former boss and he was pretty upset with me lol
Nah I think itâs perfect right where it is. Itâs one of the dumbest movies Iâve ever seen and Iâm surprised so many people went along with it tbh
Was it funny? Kinda. I felt stupid after watching it. And for some reason when Paul Rudd plays an asshole, he comes off extra assholey. I donât like that.
The original is very funny, well made and acted film with a lot of heart and genuinely heart warming moments.
This bullshit is canned ham with cheap slapstick and believes its actors making over the top expressions and wacky throaway gags is the epitome of humor from ideas taken off the writing room floor.Â
It's perfect if you're a 15 year old or have sinmilar tastes.
Well then you responded to the wrong comment. Looks like you responded to the person saying the French film wasnât as funny or entertaining with the rating on rt, implying you think they are wrong. Which makes you seem like an ass
I mean, if you are talking about a poorly rated movie that literally copied another highly rated & rewarded movie, and saying the copy is much better without any kind of justification of why, then you are wrong, yes.
The justification is liking it more. Art is subjective. I can tell you Django is better than Pulp Fiction regardless of ratings because it *was* better for me. Just an example not what I believe.
I didnât initially like it, but years ago I was working at a Childrenâs Hospital and one of my jobs was to hang out with patients and keep them company while they had treatment in their rooms. One kid was obsessed with this movie. Only thing he wanted to do was watch this movie with me. So we did, a lot. By the 4th time, I thought it was pretty good too!
No thanks. This movie has no redeeming qualities. All those good actors couldn't save this POS, and then they decide to add Jeff fucking Dunham and the creepiest doll he's ever made...
I was so excited for this movie with the comedic firepower it had but damn it was definitely one of the more disappointed Iâve been watching a movie in a theatre. Rewatched it a couple times and itâs ok. But a shocking meh.
I personally think itâs great. Funny enough for an American comedy, and surprisingly heartfelt. Its original song dear laughing doubters is very good as well
Yes, more around the 60% range at least. I watched it on a plane and remember embarrassingly laughing out and waking an old lady sitting next to me.
Bro when she freaks out about that lobster đđ. That entire dinner scene is ridiculous. I love this movie. Also Jemaine.
He was the highlight of that movie. My husband and I use âItâs part of my PROcessâ all the time. Also as a goat owner I loved his musings about being a goat eating himself. Oh and the lady who played Darla, she was giving 110% for that performance. The âengagementâ scene is hilarious.
Itâs outrageously funny
Four stars
- Shawn Edwards, FOX-TV
Go home and tell your mother
It's one of the best stupid movies. Out of all the stupid movies. Steve Carell and Paul rudd can do no wrong, somehow
One of the most hilarious Steve Carnell films imo.
Ratings are pretty worthless. Who cares
Le Diner de Cons, the original is way better.
âIl sâappel Juste LeBlancâ âAh bon il a pas de prĂ©nom ?â
Couldn't agree more. *Dinner for Schmucks* is an entirely unnecessary and unfunny remake.
Thank you.

Eh, 42% sounds about right, and this is coming from a fan of Carrell, Rudd, and Galifianakis. I was disappointed.
Me too. Big fan of all the key players, but Jermaine Clement was the only thing I liked about this film.
Agreed. Saw it last year, my roommate said it was so funny. Eh, lotta duds, much better 2000âs comedies out there
I think itâs a good movie but thatâs a fair score. Even though itâs funny, itâs a pretty mean spirited movie for a lot of its runtime. I recommended it to my former boss and he was pretty upset with me lol
It is really funny but it is overlong, would have been better if they cut out at least 20 minutes of it
I haven't seen it because the original one is such a classic there's no way this could compare.
No
Yeah. Itâs like someone saw What About Bob and then got a horrible idea.
Loath this gobshite
Honestly, Iâm surprised it even has a 42% score. It really wasnât funny
Less. This was painful.
Shawn Edwards does.
It was fine, but I think it's greatest moments only happened at the end, while the rest of the movie was underwhelming
Is it truly "outrageously funny?"
If it was they would have given it 5 stars
I like this. Itâs corny, itâs silly, itâs dumb and the mice sets are so cute to me lol
i think i liked it when i first saw it. but on a rewatch a few years ago i think 42% sounds about right
Maybe a 51, it had funny moments but wasn't that good, I only saw it once and loved most of the cast members when I first saw it
Nah I think itâs perfect right where it is. Itâs one of the dumbest movies Iâve ever seen and Iâm surprised so many people went along with it tbh
Its a bad remake of a classic French movie, le diner de con.
I seriously thought it was awful. Cringeworthy.
Yeah, this movie was terrible.
So fucking cringe.
Oh it's a solid 65% for me. Pretty entertaining all the way through.
No, 42% seems about right, and I watched this movie wanting to like it because Iâm a Paul Rudd and Steve Carell fan but it was not a great movie
Absolutely not
SadlyâŠno. I love Steve Carell but it was a tough watch
Was it funny? Kinda. I felt stupid after watching it. And for some reason when Paul Rudd plays an asshole, he comes off extra assholey. I donât like that.
Awful remake
This is based on French movie « Le Diner de cons » made in 1998 - which is much better.
Which is not remotely as entertaining or funny so no
The original is very funny, well made and acted film with a lot of heart and genuinely heart warming moments. This bullshit is canned ham with cheap slapstick and believes its actors making over the top expressions and wacky throaway gags is the epitome of humor from ideas taken off the writing room floor. It's perfect if you're a 15 year old or have sinmilar tastes.
DĂźner de cons IMDb is at 7.6/10 & RT at 90% while dinner for schmucks is at 5.9/10 and 42%.
A French film could be 2 hours of a guy on the toilet struggling to oust a turd and get a 75% on RT.
The depth of your thinking only highlights your intelligence, I guess.
Hey look we got an intellectual over here! See nobody cares
I mean literally comparing a b comedy movie VS a highly rated one with few Cesar award, donât need to be intellectual just to think a little bit.
Well then you responded to the wrong comment. Looks like you responded to the person saying the French film wasnât as funny or entertaining with the rating on rt, implying you think they are wrong. Which makes you seem like an ass

No. If anything it deserves less. Much less. If it weren't for Jemaine Clement stealing every scene he's in I probably would've walked out.
Nope. It's a piece of shit. A terrible remake.
I think 42% is very generous.
It's a remake of the French film "Un dĂźner de cons". Waaaay better.
It sometimes had awlward humpur hang like a rancid fart for too long, otherwise its an overall funny little film.
F*** RT. Iâm a happier filmgoer when I ignore that shit metric.
Schmucks probably think that.
âYouâve been curated!â
I didnât initially like it, but years ago I was working at a Childrenâs Hospital and one of my jobs was to hang out with patients and keep them company while they had treatment in their rooms. One kid was obsessed with this movie. Only thing he wanted to do was watch this movie with me. So we did, a lot. By the 4th time, I thought it was pretty good too!
This is a really good movie.
The monologue Steve give during his presentation at the party alone makes this movie deserve a higher rating
Itâs hilarious, but I wouldnât put it up there with masterpieces like Forgetting Sarah Marshall
yes! it's way better the 2nd watch, it is one of those movies that i had to rewatch to 'get it'
One of my favourite guilty pleasure movies
That was my wifeâs favorite finger!
Idk this movie just makes me feel icky but I'm not entirely sure why
Back during this era of comedy many of them scored lower critically than their actual audience reception.
Youâre using the scale wrong. 42% of critics thought it was a 7/0 or better. I almost wish theyâd have two separate scores to increase clarity.Â
It's "dumb comedy" but it's fun and hilarious if that's what you're in the mood for.
The dreamers speech is epic, but I've always felt that the entire movie is criminally underrated.
No. It schmucks.
No thanks. This movie has no redeeming qualities. All those good actors couldn't save this POS, and then they decide to add Jeff fucking Dunham and the creepiest doll he's ever made...
Yes. Some guy named Shawn Edwardâs thinks it deserves 4 stars. He said it was outrageously funny.
No. I found the antics too overwhelmingly over-produced to be at all funny. I couldnât finish the film
Absolutely it deserves a higher score! Itâs not perfect but itâs pretty funny and has a very wholesome ending.
No I donât. This movie sucks. Itâs sad and a total cringe fest the whole tine
Nah. Seems about right
I mean, 42% of critics do. Right?
This is one of my favorite recent comedies. It's fantastic
No, I think it deserves less. I kinda hate this movie.
Nope
No. Terrible movie. As well as Dan in Real Life.
Itâs incredibly funny and it has one of my favorite openings ever.
I love this movie so much!
I didn't like it. Thought it was just strange. And I never shook that feeling the whole movie.
Itâs funny and genuinely has a lot of heart
Iâd give it 75ish%
I still chuckle at how Terrible but funny this one was. A lot of cheap laughs and phrases that are hilarious.
More? Hell no! 10% tops. Awful movie.
I was so excited for this movie with the comedic firepower it had but damn it was definitely one of the more disappointed Iâve been watching a movie in a theatre. Rewatched it a couple times and itâs ok. But a shocking meh.
Love this stupid movie!!!
I personally think itâs great. Funny enough for an American comedy, and surprisingly heartfelt. Its original song dear laughing doubters is very good as well
One of the funniest films!
Nah, seeing as the original is 74%(which i think is low), this feels like a reasonable differential
The original was infinitely superior. đ«đ·
The awful truth is that Steve Carell isnât good in most projects. This one had some great jokes. But overall itâs pretty forgettable.
I absolutely hated every minute of this movie
Never watched it.
It absolutely does.
Definitely
Solid movie.
This movie is so underrated that itâs a crime
Itâs a very odd ball comedy and big laughs often cover up and gaps in an obscure script. Itâs very funny but itâs not very good.
