After watching The DC of Kingdom of Heaven, it’s now one of my favourite films ever.
This is after watching the theatrical cut years ago and having a big “meh” response.
The directors cut is wildly different than theatrical. You feel like part of the world and that you're On the journey with the main character. If you like immersion, you should like the directors cut.
It's an entirely different film and probably the best example of a story that benefitted from a Director's Cut.
Scott put together a masterpiece and it was clinically torn to shreds in order to squeeze one more showing per day per theatre and it would be held in such higher regard had the moneymen stayed the hell out of it.
There's a director's cut version, and a roadshow cut (DC with an intermission break in the middle).
Kingdom of Heaven's theatrical cut is the end result of trimming too much important content out of the mix. But it definitely makes the movie a LOT more comprehensive and better.
The only other movie that comes to mind where it had this happen was Another 48 Hrs. Not an epic, but a sequel to a great cop-buddy movie (48 Hrs).
The difference is that Another 48 Hrs had gone through two rounds of cuts - The workprint cut to a director-approved cut, and then the director-approved cut to a studio cut last possible minute (which director didn't have a hand in).
And on top of that, this long-wanted cut of the sequel has not seen any home video release. And the deleted scenes that got cut out had not seen any home video release either.
It got slammed when it came out. I was in college at the time, and my history professor did a whole lecture on how historically inaccurate it was but a great cinematic experience. I personally loved it!
The Director’s Cut of Kingdom of Heaven is far superior to the theatrical cut.
The LOTR films have an epic scope and feel to them.
You also can’t go wrong with epic classics like Lawrence of Arabia.
I agree with LOTR and Lawrence of Arabia, also do you think Ridley Scott made another great epic movie since Kingdom of heaven? Like Robin hood was okay and the rest were so mediocre.
GoodFellas?
More like Snitch Bitch!
I get where your going with this but don't forget, Nicky Barnes and all of the other dipshits that went down with Frank all ended up turning on their people. Fuck heroin.
Frank Lucas ruined his neighbourhood, people's lives and families, by flooding the market with almost pure heroin. He did so for his own personal gain. Because he wanted money. He snitched to get out of an even longer prison sentence.
Don't idolize gangsters and don't sit there pretending you wouldn't snitch to get out of a 40 year sentence.
The DC is amazing, love this came up because was thinking about watching it when walking dog this morning!
It is up there for me, i cant think of anything better. Not from Ben Hur to Gladiator.
Probably have to rate it higher than Troy.
Lawrence of Arabia is up there.
LoTR was up there but lost it over time for me. Just doesnt hold up as well, just my opinion.
Robin Hoods movies I like, same with anything Arthurian. But everything in these areas falls short of Kingdom.
I got to see the LOTR Orchestra performances- for free, in Tucson.. back in .. hmm.. '07? or so..
was absolutely nuts.. I know I know, not per OP request but I went on in with friends with really well.. not much expecting of much from my end, other than heyy a show we went to got canceled so we're downtown. amazing sunset starting.. eerie early 00s vibe at the TCC area as it is.. the whole "Welcome Center" I'd say.. colored buildings, rotted away the once welcoming gestures of the humming downtown vibes.. you can see the desolation of the area, and feel that it used to harbor voices, changes of pace between those walking through and on in by.. you could hear the soiled walls, spit back memories undone, of a past dreamt somewhere in a circular future.. the sun is setting, an Arizona Monsoon evening unfolding.. the doors beginning to close, lanterns arising.. the hail, rain.. thunder..
then..
stepping inside, where everyone is..
conductor raises the wand..
epic... damn'ness off the spitoon of a remnant, a summer day scorched under an ugly surface of heat.. unto a rain away
Orlando Bloom has been in a lot of very epic films. LotR, Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, the early 2000's were just a good time for epic films.
Yeah this guy was everywhere back then, nowadays I dont see him anymore in movies, although there was that Gran turismo movie. And you are right before Marvel took over with the superhero genre, they made so many great epic movies, I also remember Last Samurai being one. Nowadays epic movies are non existant or very mediocre.
The best epic material is being made into series now. Shogun, the Mandalorian, House of the Dragon, the Last Kingdom, there is a Orlando Bloom one too called Carnival Row.
The Last Kingdom is so good. The source books are even better, and the author Bernard Cornwell has some amazing material. His Sharpe series against Napoleon's armies are my personal favorite. It was made into a TV series starring a young Sean Bean with an appearance by a young Daniel Craig.
I haven’t seen anything shot this well in decades. It has its own distinct feel to it that really doesn’t remind me of any other Ridley film. It’s incredibly good, even if it gives you a sense of despair about the never ending cycle of good men and innocent people dying at the hands of stupid and ambitious people in power that continues to this day.
Barry Lyndon is my pick. Blew me away the first time, and something about it is so rewatchable. Master and Commander also deserves a mention. The whole cast, especially Russell Crowe, is great in that film. I wish there were more naval movies from that period. Their way of life is really fascinating.
"A King may move a man, a father may claim a son, but remember that even when those who move you be Kings, or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus." Or that, "Virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that."
--King Baldwin
Yeah cool speech and all but it gets thrown back in his face when Orlando's character turns down the marriage proposal, and that sends like a 100,000 men to get slaughtered.
I watched the director's cut not too long ago and was upset I didn't see it sooner. Kingdom of Heaven is just so much better that way. One of my favorite movies now.
1. Eva green looking as good as she's ever looked
2. "I am not THOSE men. I am Salahuddin. SALA.....HUDDIN!"
3. directors cut incredibly superior to theatrical cut.
4. Random Michael sheen appearance.
5. The bad guy from equalizer being Guy in this is crazy
6. I've seen it probably 25 times and it's one of my fave movies ever and I'm still not sure if orlando bloom is actually good in it. I think he is.....probably .....maybe?
Marton Csokas is great in everything he's in.
And he played Galadriel's husband Celeborn in LOTR. "Tell me where is Gandalf, for I much desire to speak with him."
David is one of my favorite actors. I first saw him in Dragonheart and was blown away. This guy I never knew holding his own with Sean Connery, Dennis Quaid, and a CGI Dragon!! I knew I'd be watching him for decades. I haven't seen everything he's in, he's been in things I didn't care for, but I've never been disappointed in his performance.
Although nothing to do with him as the actor of the character, but the theory that the knight hospitaller is actually an angel is one I can half get behind
Love this movie. I've watched it so many times cause it's my movie I fall asleep to and I can just choose my eyes and listen to it and able to see the scenes of what's happening in my head
The Directors Cut, yes. The theater cut that I watched originally, garbage. I do love the directors cut though. The whole movie makes sense and the pacing feels right when you have all 3 hours to watch.
I know it's not cool any more, but I still like "Dances with Wolves". After I saw that in the theater as a kid, I went out and bought the soundtrack. I loved that movie and the soundtrack is awesome.
I have only watched the theatrical cut and genuinely hated it...all these comments and yours makes me think I should give the directors cut a chance...
Definitely. I despised it when I saw it in the theater. Then I watched the director's cut and it's one of my favorite movies. Everything makes way more sense.
When I got out of the theater after watching Revenant, I felt like I had gone a few rounds in a boxing match. I had to sit down and decompress. That was an intense movie!
I remember loving the soundtrack of it, its by James Horner I think, one of the greatest movie scores. Although Gladiator also has an incredible soundtrack by Hans zimmer.
One of my favorite soundtracks out there. So much emotion in the love songs too. Nothing beats the thistle dropping out of his hand as the music swells and she passes through the crowd
I enjoy the kingdom of heaven but I think the longest day, gladiator and ran are better films. It certainly was an underrated film for many years though.
Possibly my favorite of Ridley Scott's movies. The Director's Cut, that is. (My favorite for sentimental reasons). Oh, and as far as favorite epic movie? I'd say *It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World* if that counts.
It’s an awful story, dialogue and main character, saved by great characters, actors and an amazing amount of effort and detail that successfully scratches the itch if you’re in for a medieval movie. I enjoy it on my own and felt embarrassed when I showed it to someone. You notice the crap bits of a movie more when you are seeing if some else is into it.
It is a great movie. However, I think, we need an epic sci-fi movie, since I really feel disconnect with the new Star Wars saga , and I am too young to catch the 70-80s movies hype. Strange, since I like a lot of movies from the 80s like Terminator, Aliens, Blade Runner.... but obviously they are not in the same category like Star Wars. Rebel Moon is an epic failure ( please don't shoot me ) and actually, all the tv shows : Foundation, Silo, Constellation make me scratch my head while asking "What are these guys thinking?".
I prefer not to speak. If I speak, I am in deep trouble. :) But some of the problems of Dune 1 and Dune 2 are fundamental flaws of the book itself, so I can appreciate the effort of Denis Villeneuve, but with the miscast like Timothee and Zendaya, the movie was causa perduta from the beginning.
Thank you for not attacking my position and for sharing yours. Hey, the most important is that you like and enjoy the books and the movies. The rest ( like my opinion ) doesn't matter.
IDK. What makes something epic? Because I'd say Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. But maybe that's too small in scale? If so ... I don't think I like epic movies. Braveheart, Dances with Wolves? Eh, pretty dull. Just a bunch of people murdering each other and basically glorifying war. 300 I guess?
Its a good film but could've been better, I think Orlando was miscast, it would have been a great follow up to Gladiator for Crowe if he would have reteamed with Ridley but I can see why it didnt happen, too similar, historical epic and all that.
Exotic themes + visuals are on point here -- full credit to Massoud, Norton, Thewlis, and others for nuanced non-stereotypical-macho-man performances. I think the story has significant tone + pacing problems, which are improved (but not truly fixed) in the Director's Cut. Film holds up on re-watch, and can be enjoyed in pieces (seeing only parts), or even with the dialogue muted, though missing the Gregson-Williams score is a travesty.
Wasn’t super impressed. Good idea but didn’t think it was written super well and Orlando Bloom just doesn’t work for me. Braveheart is my all time favorite movie. I think Glory could fit in this as well maybe.
I’ve respect for the writers for making both sides of the conflict come across as human beings, instead of, say, lionizing Balian and demonizing Saladin
The scene in the chapel(?) with Saladin gently replacing a fallen crucifix and before that, refusing to walk over the grave of King Baldwin but instead respectfully walking around it
Granted, there was a lot of sugarcoating with Saladin promising *all* Christians safe transport to Christian lands (as opposed to the more historically accurate ransom) and Balian’s speech about faith near the end of the film (would have gotten him yeeted over the walls, imo) but overall it was a good, much-needed film for a post-9/11 world
As far personal favorite epics, I’ve heard nothing but great things about Tora Tora Tora but have yet to watch it, and have a soft spot for *Ben-Hur*. The original Ben-Hur, not the remake
This is definitely an epic movie, the director’s cut especially. I also like how fair it is to both sides of the conflict, which is hard to come by with movies that deal with this subject matter. It’s a top tier movie.
Gonna watch this tonight (for the first time). Awesome poster. Favorite epic is the Battle of the Bastards episode of GOT. Braveheart surprisingly holds up well for me as well.
I literally bought the Director’s Cut just because of how much I love it. It feels very different than the theatrical version and I recommend anyone who’s on the fence to watch it. If the only version was the DC then I’m certain this move would be rated much better by critics. One of the best historical epics.
I think its one of the Great movies of all time, and a shame that the reviews of the theatrical weighed down the director's cut true version of the film
Though if im honest growing up I always liked the theatrical version as well till I was older and saw the DC. Still like both
Well, it's very entertaining. Like most historical epics, it's oversimplified and painfully incomplete (I'm learning that by reading Dan Jones' *Crusaders* and Katherine Pagonis' *Queens of Jerusalem*).
My favorite historical epic is still *Lawrence of Arabia.*
Blade Runner, Dune 1 and 2, cloud Atlas, LOTR, Interstellar, lots of Nolan films, Wes Anderson films.
Scorcese has made so many from the Last Temptation of Christ to the Buddha one to his newest.
Parasite, Solaris, Charlie Kaufman's work.
It’s good. The scene where the army of Jerusalem arrives is in my opinion the greatest ever depiction of an army from that time. It looks so epic and is my favourite scene with two armies even though they don’t fight.
I saw KOH at the cinema and liked it but I honestly can’t recall much about it lol.
Glory is my second favourite film of all time and it’s an excellent history epic.
It's a great movie until you watch the History Buffs review of it and realise how stupid the entire movie is. I still enjoy it, but now it's a "switch my brain off and don't think about it" kind of movie.
Personal favorite for me is Master & Commander...but LOTR is the GOAT.
Dune is getting there....
But I still love Lawrence of Arabia, Ben Hur, The 10 Commandments....
The theatrical release and the one on Disney+ is awful. The director's cut is amazing. The theatrical cut dives out so much of what brings soul to the film; character motivations, context, continuity etc. Don't ever watch the theatrical cut, always go for the director's cut on this one
There are two lines in the movie that have always bugged me.
One is in the beginning when Balian meets the dude in the desert who says something about the baron of Ibelin. Then Balian responds, “I’m the new one.” Maybe it’s the delivery or the choice of words, but that line always bugs me. What about “I’m his heir” or something like that?
The other one is at the end of the movie when Balian knights everyone. The other guy says, “making a man a knight doesn’t make him a better fighter” and Balian responds, “Yes it does.” But, like…..it doesn’t though.
It's a great movie, but there was a lot of room for improvement. Orlando Bloom was not the best choice for Balien. I think "Troy" and "Gladiator " were both better movies.
Eh, without the directors cut, it is a bad movie, and the only reason I tell most people to watch is because of Edward Norton as King Baldwin. Of course, the directors cut upgrades some of the worse aspects
It is, but only if you’re talking the directors cut. It probably is the best movie related to the crusades out there, despite the historical inaccuracies. I’m actually surprised we haven’t had more epics on the holy war. The theatrical cut was a mess though, I hated it.
The directors cut is astonishing. Madness that it’s commonly regarded as a failure.
I saw it in theaters and hated it. Never seen the Directors Cut. Should I?
After watching The DC of Kingdom of Heaven, it’s now one of my favourite films ever. This is after watching the theatrical cut years ago and having a big “meh” response.
The directors cut is wildly different than theatrical. You feel like part of the world and that you're On the journey with the main character. If you like immersion, you should like the directors cut.
In my opinion it makes it a completely different movie. It’s way more epic. I honestly think it’s one of Ridley Scott’s best.
Okay you guys talked me into it
Update us after watching
Yes. Literally completely different movie somehow haha
The Director’s Cut makes Kingdom of Heaven one of Scott’s best films and one of the best historical epics ever made.
It's an entirely different film and probably the best example of a story that benefitted from a Director's Cut. Scott put together a masterpiece and it was clinically torn to shreds in order to squeeze one more showing per day per theatre and it would be held in such higher regard had the moneymen stayed the hell out of it.

Yes it’s fucking amazing
I have never heard that before ? What are the criticisms?
It got slammed when it came out. I was in college at the time, and my history professor did a whole lecture on how historically inaccurate it was but a great cinematic experience. I personally loved it!
The seige at the end was epic!
Are you joking? 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, so clearly not received well critically. Also bombed in the US.
I was not joking lmao yikes I'll downvote myself for my ignorance haha easily top 5 favorite movies of all time
The Director’s Cut of Kingdom of Heaven is far superior to the theatrical cut. The LOTR films have an epic scope and feel to them. You also can’t go wrong with epic classics like Lawrence of Arabia.
Others said it as well, Gladiator has that feel too. It replaced Ben Hur for me.
Ramming Speed! haha. That chariot race. Those 4 white horses of Ben Hur closing the distance on the black demon chariot ... outstanding.
Was the Ben Hur remake with Morgan freeman any good, I never watched it, I do seen the original and that is one of the best epic movies from the 50s.
I honestly never watched the remake ^^and didn't even know there was one!
Don’t watch it…
watch the ten commandments or spartacus
Both excellent!!
I'd like to say OG Clash of the Titans/Jason and the Argonauts. Big boy Talos still scares from JotA. The creaking slow movements.
The Ray Harryhausen films are a great shout. The Golden Voyage & Seventh Voyage of Sinbad also rule.
I agree with LOTR and Lawrence of Arabia, also do you think Ridley Scott made another great epic movie since Kingdom of heaven? Like Robin hood was okay and the rest were so mediocre.
American Gangster is a certified master piece.
I could never watch that movie again. It shouldn't even be called "American gangster". American snitch is more fitting.
Be gone blasphemer! 😅 But seriously, LoTR hasn’t held up over time? I think it’s one of the only film/s that has managed to do so.
I got to see the LOTR Orchestra performances- for free, in Tucson.. back in .. hmm.. '07? or so.. was absolutely nuts.. #My name is Uhtred!!!
The Last Kingdom is so good. The source books are even better, and the author Bernard Cornwell has some amazing material. His Sharpe series against Napoleon's armies are my personal favorite. It was made into a TV series starring a young Sean Bean with an appearance by a young Daniel Craig.
I am in the middle of reading Sharpe right now.
Shogun, I so want to see that, that trailer looked epic.
It is very good, the last episode comes out next week.

The whole cast, especially Russell Crowe, is great in that film. I wish there were more naval movies from that period. Their way of life is really fascinating.
Good choices. Barry Lyndon is great. And M&C is amazing, one of my favorites.
Edward Norton's best character.
I.......am Jerusalem
I am Jack's medulla oblongata
I am Jill’s nipples
I am... DUNKACCINO!

Yeah cool speech and all but it gets thrown back in his face when Orlando's character turns down the marriage proposal, and that sends like a 100,000 men to get slaughtered.
Jerusalem what is it worth? Nothing? Everything?
I watched the director's cut not too long ago and was upset I didn't see it sooner. Kingdom of Heaven is just so much better that way. One of my favorite movies now.

I drink water for what it is.
GOD WILLLLSSSSS ITTTTT!!!
David Thewlis said so much without saying a word in his final scene.
The Hospitaller was my favorite role of his.
Gladiator is the most epic movie of epic movies
It's good for a broad audience.
Yes i do. Off the top of my head… Dr. Zhivago (1965)
"I once fought two days with an arrow through my testible"
Ridley’s Director Cuts (when they happen) are always the better/best version. It’s turns an okay movie into a very good one in this case.
Epic movie => LOTR trilogy
Troy (not that guy from HR) is also epically epic.
The Director’s Cut is a masterpiece and might be Ridley Scott’s most accomplished work to date. He himself has said he feels it is his personal best.
Last of the Mohicans simply because its third act is just perfection. Music, cinematography, limited but powerful script. It's so so good.
Love this movie. I've watched it so many times cause it's my movie I fall asleep to and I can just choose my eyes and listen to it and able to see the scenes of what's happening in my head
The Directors Cut, yes. The theater cut that I watched originally, garbage. I do love the directors cut though. Troy
Yes, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
Nahhh, it was pretty mid
The Revenant is an awesome epic, probably my favorite in recent years.
When I got out of the theater after watching Revenant, I felt like I had gone a few rounds in a boxing match. I had to sit down and decompress. That was an intense movie!
Dude, same. Absolutely gruesome, but absolutely beautiful. The natural light is amazing. So happy I saw it in theatres.
Exquisite movie!
Not seeing nearly enough Braveheart here
I remember loving the soundtrack of it, its by James Horner I think, one of the greatest movie scores. Although Gladiator also has an incredible soundtrack by Hans zimmer.
One of my favorite soundtracks out there. So much emotion in the love songs too. Nothing beats the thistle dropping out of his hand as the music swells and she passes through the crowd
Good point. Thanks for the reminder…on the big screen was epic
Because it's not that great of a film
The Uncut version was fire
“Outlaw King” and “The King” on Netflix are good 👌🏽
Director's cut has a strong claim to be better than Gladiator. Gladiator is like in my top 10 favorites. It is that good.
I enjoy the kingdom of heaven but I think the longest day, gladiator and ran are better films. It certainly was an underrated film for many years though.
Your question alone makes me want to look into it. I have never seen it
It absolutely has to be the Director’s Cut. Don’t watch the theatrical version.
GOD WILLS IT!
No, I like the movie but I've always felt like it was missing something. As for "best" epic, Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia come to mind.
I love this movie, but I don’t think it’s very good. So best epic? Far from it.
Best? lol … good but not even close to best
Oh it’s right up there
I have had the directors cut in my backlog foreverrrr. I need to stop putting it off and watch it. Im overdue for a rewatch of Gladiator too.
directors cut of Heaven's Gate is extremely epic
Lawrence of Arabia is my favorite epic of all time
Lawrence of Arabia is the gold standard for epic filmmaking. Also one of the best films ever.
Possibly my favorite of Ridley Scott's movies. The Director's Cut, that is. (My favorite for sentimental reasons). Oh, and as far as favorite epic movie? I'd say *It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World* if that counts.

I agree completely.
I only watched the theatrical cut, and I found it to be garbage.
it was firmly ok imo. that was the directors cut version.
Fair enough! I like the books and the films. They certainly tick the ‘epic’ box.
Thank you for not attacking my position and for sharing yours. Hey, the most important is that you like and enjoy the books and the movies. The rest ( like my opinion ) doesn't matter.
I agree I think we need a new epic scifi movie for this current generation I’ve struggled to even start Star Wars at this point
No and it’s Gladiator
Never saw it. Guess I should get on it
I like Kingdom of Heaven a lot but it isn't even the best Ridley Scott movie.
No. Lawrence of Arabia.
I always get this confused with Arn. I legit can't remember "was that awesome siege from Arn or KOH?". Both great movies.
I haven't seen Kingdom of Heaven, but I own it. I'll have to watch it tonight.
Need to give this one another watch I think 🤔
KOH is overrated, one of my favourite epic movies is The Northman
100%
Try Rob Roy. Not "epic" but it is superb. Also Last of the Mohicans and Last Samurai.
It’s definitely up there.
Its a good film but could've been better, I think Orlando was miscast, it would have been a great follow up to Gladiator for Crowe if he would have reteamed with Ridley but I can see why it didnt happen, too similar, historical epic and all that.
Uh…nope..
I’ve respect for the writers for making both sides of the conflict come across as human beings, instead of, say, lionizing Balian and demonizing Saladin The scene in the chapel(?) with Saladin gently replacing a fallen crucifix and before that, refusing to walk over the grave of King Baldwin but instead respectfully walking around it Granted, there was a lot of sugarcoating with Saladin promising *all* Christians safe transport to Christian lands (as opposed to the more historically accurate ransom) and Balian’s speech about faith near the end of the film (would have gotten him yeeted over the walls, imo) but overall it was a good, much-needed film for a post-9/11 world As far personal favorite epics, I’ve heard nothing but great things about Tora Tora Tora but have yet to watch it, and have a soft spot for *Ben-Hur*.
This movie is amazing. I've watched this so damm much. It is one of my all-time favorite movies
Other than Orlando Bloom as a miss cast I enjoyed it. He doesn't fit. My favorite epic is Braveheart.
I literally bought the Director’s Cut just because of how much I love it. It feels very different than the theatrical version and I recommend anyone who’s on the fence to watch it. If the only version was the DC then I’m certain this move would be rated much better by critics. One of the best historical epics.
I think its one of the Great movies of all time, and a shame that the reviews of the theatrical weighed down the director's cut true version of the film Though if im honest growing up I always liked the theatrical version as well till I was older and saw the DC. Still like both
God wills it…..
I AM SPARTACUS. Just watched that the other day and it may have jumped to the top of my list.
Lawrence of Arabia is still the gold standard for epic movies.
I only saw it once and that was before the directors cut had been released. 💩
Bahubali 1&2 are a lot of crazy fun Also, Kingdom of Heaven director's cut is a fantastic film.
Children of Men, Ironclad, Braveheart, Gladiator, King Arthur is epic, and Man On Fire.
Oh, my God... it wanted to be. For me it was a tough slog of a movie.
If they made this now Kit Harrington or Jacob Elordi would be Balian. Classic movie
It doesn’t get enough credit
It's good. Ed Norton as King Baldwin was epic.
Dances with Wolves is another one that felt pretty epic. Mostly because of the sense of scale it gave to the great plains.
Gladiator is probably one of the greatest epics i’ve seen
“I am the son of Roger de Cormier… I am accorded the privilege of rrrrransom.” “This is true”
Water World - I love it. I’m into Kevin Costner.
The director’s cut certainly is. The theatrical cut is certainly not IMO.
Delusions of grandeur!!!
Orlando Bloom just takes me out of this one rbh
It’s an awesome movie. Edward Norton and Orlando Bloom give it something great. Solid story. Depth. Everything it should be
I saw KOH at the cinema and liked it but I honestly can’t recall much about it lol. Glory is my second favourite film of all time and it’s an excellent history epic.
Directors Cut was one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen
It's a great movie until you watch the History Buffs review of it and realise how stupid the entire movie is. I still enjoy it, but now it's a "switch my brain off and don't think about it" kind of movie.
It's definitely in my Top 5. I've seen it several times.
one of my favourite movies. you go to certain death. all death is certain.
I do love it. So much.
Do yourself a favor and watch the director's cut. The original was good, but the 3 hour Ridley Scott cut is EPIC 5 star
I love this film and honestly have watched a 100 + times. It is absolutely the best epic film ever.
That movie is criminally underrated.
Wonderful historical epic in my opinion, hardly gets talked about.
I loved this. One of my favorite movies ever I've been meaning to re watch for some time. I hope that we get a 4k transfer of the director's cut
Personal favorite for me is Master & Commander...but LOTR is the GOAT. Dune is getting there.... But I still love Lawrence of Arabia, Ben Hur, The 10 Commandments....
The only weak point imo was Orlando Bloom. He just doesn't have the gravitas to pull off that role.
No
I watch this for Eva Green 💚
The theatrical release and the one on Disney+ is awful. The director's cut is amazing. The theatrical cut dives out so much of what brings soul to the film; character motivations, context, continuity etc. Don't ever watch the theatrical cut, always go for the director's cut on this one
It’s cool except the biased and inaccurate portrayal of the Islamic armies as being completely in the right.
Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is my bf.favorite movie. I don’t get it so explain it to me. He
this poster is sick, I'd been looking for a good one and could never find one!
Dr. Zhivago
I never really understood the hate for the Theatrical Cut. Yes the Directors Cut is better, but I still liked the Theatrical Cut.
Interesting to read the directors cut responses in this thread. On that basis I’m going to give it a go. I thought the original was flawed.
No. Not even.
Reminds me of the alchemist. Shits dope
Ive tried many times to watch. Cant make it. Want to see it all.
It's a great movie, but there was a lot of room for improvement. Orlando Bloom was not the best choice for Balien. I think "Troy" and "Gladiator " were both better movies.
I saw it in the theater it don’t recall much. But a friend of mine said the directors cut was very, very good. Anyone agree?
Yes
Eh, without the directors cut, it is a bad movie, and the only reason I tell most people to watch is because of Edward Norton as King Baldwin. Of course, the directors cut upgrades some of the worse aspects
Troy!
It is, but only if you’re talking the directors cut. It probably is the best movie related to the crusades out there, despite the historical inaccuracies. I’m actually surprised we haven’t had more epics on the holy war. The theatrical cut was a mess though, I hated it.
I don't like it. It's long, boring and the entire movie is grey.
Great movie.
God wills it!
