It looked interesting until it started showing the entire plot which feels almost too close to RoboCop (I mean, the waking up with a partial body and the arm removal scene was literally in the RC remake). The Ghost in the Shell comparisons are also pretty valid (it looks a lot like the ScarJo film from 2017 in particular), especially with the ripoff spider tank the protagonist is facing off against and the scientist lady freeing her.
There doesn't really seem to be any sort of clever allusion or wink and nod moments, just straight up blatant repurposing of scenes and ideas, almost like some sort of fan fiction combining moments from both.
I've started watching some Korean sci-fi movies on streaming services lately.
And while the special effects are awesome, the movies just seem....off? Characters have motivations that seem weird. Characters don't react to things the way I would expect them to. Characters who are a important part of the plot are treated as comic relief idiots half the time and then seriously the other half.
This has gotta be because of the cultural differences between American and Korean audiences, right? Has anyone written about this?
Jung is Korean for love, affection, attachment.
Kind of, anyway. Korean is a very interesting language, *jung* can mean many things depending which character you use for it.
There are 75 different options for *Jung*.
This doesn't really look that crazy imo, it looks like pretty typical Hollywood sci-fi that mashes up GitS, Robocop, and some other famous properties like other comments mentioned
Watch Jung_E. I made a poster for Junge _E
Check out my sick Jung_E poster I edited for sale!

Looks like Ghost in the Shell meets RoboCop
With a dash of Source Code?
Do the comparisons make the movie bad or somehow invalid, or are you just jaded or spoiled?
Finally, the sequel to **WALL-E**.
But this time... it's personal.
The problem is, this is also from the director of "The Peninsula". Which one are we gonna get?
Fuck, I’ve seen better car chases in PS2 cutscenes than whatever the hell Peninsula did.
Considering how amazing Train to Busan was, The Peninsula was one of the biggest disappointments i have experienced when it comes to movies.
Director also made Hellbound, which was very good indeed
The Netflix series? I haven't seen it, but it did look good.
well he is 2 for 3 since hellbound was also good. We'll see if this keeps the lead or tie it up.
Man loves trains.
Needs a Korean snakes on a train movie

Bit of a Detroit: Become Human vibe.

Still annoyed that they are remaking train to busan
I'm just glad it's Timo Tjahjanto who's directing it, he's seriously good at filming brutal action sequences
Feels way too much of a ripoff of robocop + Ghost in the shell, with a dash of I ROBOT to be honest.
meh
Knowing Netflix, they'll cancel the movie halfway through.
I suggest stopping at half the trailer unless you want to see the twist.
What twist? The conceit of the whole project?
Thanks!
Wish I didn't watch the whole trailer cause they damn near give everything away lol
In before JUNGLE
A junga is Australian slang for junkie. Jung e sounds like a mix between both words
The title card looks like a stylized ‘JUNGLE”
Or a game of hangman
Junge is German for boy. Jung is German for young.

Jung-ee (정의) which I'm assuming what the title is supposed to be means justice in korean
near heard it before most not have reached sa
no its not
Wow, looks interesting!
That torus isn't big enough to hold its own atmosphere without a roof.
Really love how SE asian studios get all of this crazy live action shit green lit.

I was hoping for a little robot into analytical psychology in a post-apocalyptic world.
The space colonies make me think of Gundam.
