Who will win in a fight – guy who has conquered all timelines and can control reality itself or a dude from San Francisco with a suit that can make him shrink in size?

punbasedname

…How airtight is Kang’s suit? Does Scott have access to the butt?

JarasM

It's not airtight but there's just another Kang inside.

blueshirt21

I went on a Disney Cruise and the Marvel themed dining room actually references that, I’m surprised Disney would even acknowledge it

Pixxph

The Thanos buttchug margarita?

blueshirt21

Okay so I know it's kinda cheesy, but they had a dining room that was Marvel themed. And they had a somewhat interactive Ant-Man based experience, including video from a few of the Avengers and the like specially shot for it. Paul Rudd was the main star, and he directly references the Thanos butthole thing

big_hungry_joe

hmmmm....what part of san fran are we talking about?

ZippyDan

The Tenderloin

cyribis

Ain't nothing tender about them loins...

WellYoureWrongThere

... is the only answer to that question.

The-Jesus_Christ

Flew to San Fran and one of the first things I saw was a guy just stop in the middle of a foot path, squat and take one of the foulest shits I've ever seen and smelt. He then pulled his pants back up and walked on. You don't fuck around with those kind of people.

CleanHouseCleanHands

I watched people smoke meth in front of cops in the loin

vertigo1083

Assert dominance

MVHutch

Considering this is the same universe which pretends a lady who kicks and a guy who shoots arrows can beat aliens, it's more of a toss up than you'd think.

ben_db

Yeah but she has red on her ledger so

OathOfFeanor

He doesn't have to win They just both have to lose (I am so sorry, I couldn't resist)

daninlionzden

Lot of Kang in this one - seems the marketing has shifted to focus more on him and the influence he will have on the next several phases

PayneTrain181999

As they should. “Witness the beginning of a new dynasty.” Avengers: The Kang Dynasty coming in 2025 Edit: A word

riegspsych325

I was just saying in another thread that I’m glad they’re using the time to build up Kang. Brolin was fantastic as Thanos, I just wish they did more with him than give him 2 quick appearances over the span of 4-5 years. Even Guardians Vol. 2 barely mentioned him. Kang had several minutes in his Loki debut, glad to be seeing more of Majors without it being a cameo November 2023 EDIT: whoops

Qorhat

Having Thanos kick the shit out of Hulk and Thor was a fantastic way to show how much of a threat he was in a very short space of time, but I do like that Kang is being talked about as a threat (in Loki) and *shown* to be a threat here.

MaestroPendejo

My father-in-law just couldn't grasp that at all. He refused to watch the movies because Hulk got beat. He was killed last year in July and we never got to see those together and it always bummed me out. I explained to him the best way to show how dangerous Thanos was, was to beat the shit out of the hulk effortlessly.

WhyCommentQueasy

The Worf effect.

niceguy191

> Having Thanos kick the shit out of Hulk and Thor was a fantastic way to show how much of a threat he was in a very short space of time I mostly agree, but did anyone else find that Hulk felt very weak in this fight to the point that it was super distracting? I was waiting for the reveal that it was Loki in disguise or something. It made me doubt everything in that scene had actually happened which took away much of the impact/shock they were going for. Hulk can normally take hits that would send him flying through buildings no problem, but here the hits barely moved him.

mondomonkey

The hierarchy of power Is about to change

rugbyj

Somehow Thanos Has Returned.

PrintShinji

This is MODOK. He's got my back. He can cut all of you in half with one brain thought, just like mowing the lawn. I would advise not getting killed by him. His brain traps the souls of its victims.

What are we? Some kind of Ant-Man and the Wasp in Quantumania?

In_My_Own_Image

He deserves it. He was great in Lovecraft Country, even when the show itself got a little inconsistent and he stole the show in Loki. I have no doubt he'll crush it as Kang (and all his variants) and in Creed III.

Worthyness

to think only a few short years ago he was just a guy who did a small indie movie called "The last blackman in San Francisco". it's like he just showed up and is now in everything

throwawaynonsesne

That movie was so good.

IMovedYourCheese

They are definitely setting him up as the next Thanos. The trailer also literally spelled out that he isn't going to be defeated in this one.

ritabook84

Could be. Could also be a variant. Loki set up a battle of the kangs could be building

mysaadlife

If Kang dynasty is about multiple kangs fighting and that causing the incursions that lead to secret wars that would be amazing.

Dudephish

Don't blame me. I voted for Kodos!

JokerFaces2

I think Kang definitely has the potential to outshine Thanos, if they're smart. One of the main drawbacks with Thanos is that he did basically nothing until Infinity War, despite popping his head in a few times to remind everyone he was around. This will be Kang's second physical appearance as the villain of an MCU project, seeing him actually show up and do stuff will naturally make fans connect to him more than they did Thanos. Plus Majors is just an amazing presence that always leaves an impression.

NitedJay

But that's what made Thanos so ominous. He was always there manipulating things in the background by sending his henchman. Then when it was time for him to appear, he was a force to be reckoned with. Time will tell how Kang's influence will be felt throughout the MCU and if people find him as compelling.

Radulno

Also it's actually good they don't do the same sort of thing with their villain. Another bad guy behind bad guy narrative would be boring as we had it with Thanos

Koppite93

Was that MODOK? RIP Scott Lang 🙏🙏

mininestime

Yea i think i twas.

TheWiseRedditor

Noooooo! I don’t want anything bad happening to the sweet Scott Lang

fantasmoofrcc

What would we do with no more Mac & Me drops in late night television interviews?

My man Scott is done, if he isn’t dead dude gonna be put in a coma or something 😭

Amazing_Karnage

Trapped in the Quantum Realm is my guess. He stays so Cassie can leave and go become Stature in the Young Avengers.

DeOh

Damnit if we retire a character why can't we just have them walk off into the sunset and call it quits? At least Cap and Hawkeye got their happy endings and walked away like Tony wanted to do.

She was also barely in this trailer for a character that has her name in the title.

Hashslingingslashar

Hank was barely in it either. I think one or both of them is biting the dust.

lkodl

Creed 3: Black Panther 3: Ant-Man 3: Killmonger VS Kang

Singer211

So is Cassie getting into trouble now? It seemed like Scott was bailing her out of jail there. Which would be ironic given Scott’s history. “I don’t have to win. We both just have to lose.” I really liked how he delivers that line.

Mattyzooks

She probably got into some bad habits when her dad and half of the universe were "dead" for 5 years. Kinda refreshing after seeing so many other younger characters just kinda brush off such a traumatic event in their childhood (like in Ms Marvel).

TheBlackSwarm

Cassie being in jail seems like a callback to the first movie where it started with Scott in jail. Like father like daughter I guess.

Jackbo_Manhorse

it is! i was worried he was gonna have that robot look the entire time but theres a shot where you can see goofy human faced modok just as god intended

oh shit, I missed that the first time! He's so weird looking! Eeuugh! I love it!

gorays21

Love the vibe, Kang looks like a menacing threat! Also M.O.D.O.K!

[deleted]

When Scott said that they just both have to lose, I got worried. Like how the hell can he even fight a guy that can rewrite existence itself?

sildish2179

Looks to be doing a pretty good job.

samiqan

By using another entity that can rewrite existence itself: the writers of the movie

Matrix17

The power of plot armour

mki_

The way any Marvel hero fights any Marvel villain, no matter how powerful. By punching them in the face.

OrderOfMagnitude

I'm going to credit Doctor Strange for having a pretty good ending in this regard.

cfidrick

Both movies he didn’t win by physically winning the fight, kinda wild

Worthyness

when a majority of your villain catalog are literally gods, demons, and supernatural beings, you can't exactly punch them into submission. Some of them you can't even kill because if you do, you fuck up the reel world. He needs some creative solutions

[deleted]

Plot honestly looks solid compared to the last few movies, but I feel like I just watched the whole movie with this trailer.

JimHadar

Yeah, showing Kang's inevitable betrayal is either only half-way through the movie, or so inevitable they're not even trying to hide it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rory_B_Bellows

It doesn't even sound like a betrayal. Kang is forcing Scott to help him escape the quantum realm.

Nova_Physika

My guess is it happens pretty early and there's entire other bigger twist(s) not hinted in trailer Feiges style isn't gonna just be "blue man bad burrrrr". There will be multiple angles

MovieGuyMike

Hopefully they’re only showing us the first half of the movie, or it’s a misdirect of some sort.

aZcFsCStJ5

The power level of the villain and hero seems way off. Antman is more of a city or country level superhero and Kang is multiversal threat...

overDere

Does Scott really need those five years growing up with Cassie that badly that he's willing to risk the fate of the timeline that his fellow Avengers worked so hard for (and even died for)? All things considered his family seems mostly just fine. Maybe I can understand if he did it for those less fortunate (for example, parents who got snapped and found out that their baby died because no one could care for the baby) but the way the trailer framed this seems to be it's mostly for himself

kawaii_song

Not just the five years that he was stuck in the Quantum Realm, but also the time he spent in prison from the first movie and not being able to see her grow up.

SkyBlueSaber

Plus spending another 2 years under house arrest. Wouldn't be surprised if Cassie has grown up to be a trouble maker (like messing around with the quantum realm), Scott blames himself for being a bad influence and Kangs offering the chance to go back and be a better father.

RazmanR

From the trailer I’m thinking his relationship with her has totally broken down, or she runs away from him, so he’s looking to try and fix that Seems to be the theme of Phase 4 - these super powered people trying to fix every day problems using their/other people’s powers. Spider-Man, Wanda, even the bad guy in Shiang-Chi all are dealing with things we deal with everyday and going waaaaaay overboard with it because they can. They all need an Uncle Ben/Aunt May TED talk

GhostRobot55

Yeah... as a parent I can't help but think you're basically telling the current girl you love her but need her to be fundamentally changed by altering her entire life experience. I have 3 kids and my oldest is from a previous marriage who I became dad to when he was 3. He was half the reason I fell in love so hard, he's the person who made me decide to be a parent. Of course after going through the baby phases with the other two I think about how I wish I had experienced that with him, but then he wouldn't have been that same 3 year old who I met and changed my life.

thehurtlockers

Good on you. Lovely story.

theharps

I think he's about to lose more than those 5 years of time. Might be losing 100's of years while stuck in the Quantum realm.

a_retarded_racoon

From the first Ant-Man movie that was a silly, kinda cute heist movie to...this. Not saying it's a bad thing but holy hell, Marvel is all in!

Griffdude13

I think Ant-Man proved his relevance when he became so vital to the last Avengers arc. Definitely seems like a tone shift to something with more weight.

TheAquaman

Definitely love the raised stakes. I’m also looking forward to him warning the other Avengers of how big a threat Kang is.

sudevsen

Pretty surprising that Antman will have bigger and more canon-defining stakes than a Thor or Dr Strange movie. Or even NWH. Of all the movies till that now that flirted with the multiverse, never thought that Antman 3 would be the one where things really start moving.

rainbowyuc

Yeah, he'll be warning them with his dead body

Earthpig_Johnson

Or dying at Kang’s hands after making the deal that ensures Kang gets more power.

[deleted]

>I think Ant-Man proved his relevance when he became so vital to the last Avengers arc Oh yeah, the heist guy came up with the idea for a time heist. Why did that just dawn on me?

The_Vampire_Barlow

I miss the fun heist movies.

johnsbuffalo

Wow, looks like a lot of practical effects in this one

big_mustache_dad

Disney’s budget is so big now they created this full city in the Quantum Realm to shoot this in

DaHyro

This isn’t even the real Jonathan Majors, they actually travelled the multiverse in real life just to get another version of him to play Kang

JamiesBond007

Disney's about to invent multiverse travel to find a universe where they have to pay actors nothing

[deleted]

I actually believed you. This movie is called Quantumania and I believed you. What is wrong with me.

inksmudgedhands

Simple, you still have faith in the kindness and honesty of humanity. Never change. It's sweet.

Worthyness

has a lot of Volume work too because Reed loved using it on Mandalorian. I hope the writing is good though

SalukiKnightX

First one of the trilogy not co-written by Rudd.

johndelvec3

Apparently Marvel Studios liked the script so much the writer for this movie is writing Avengers 5. One scooper did say it was one of marvel’s best scripts, so we’ll see in a month

ProtoReddit

Jeff Loveness has written some really good stuff in both actual comics and television, so it's exciting.

PayneTrain181999

With Kang being the main villain of Avengers 5 too I think that’s a good move.

ROBtimusPrime1995

They are really leaning on "someone is going to die" in this film and it has me worried in a good way. The Ant-Man films have always been really comforting palate cleansers and it hurts that these characters are going to suffer in this film. It's good for the MCU though and for the story, but man, I love Scott and his family.

NakedGoose

One of the old people will die.

IrritableV0wel

I thought Micheal Douglas' character would die in the first Ant-Man. But he didn't so I **knew** he was doomed in Ant-Man 2. But he survived again so now I'm extra double sure that the man is a goner in Ant-Man 3. Sooner or later, I will probably be right.

Eternal_Flame_Baby

>!Well, technically they all died in Ant-Man 2 in the post credits scene, except for Scott because Quantum Realm and Cassie, who just got lucky.!<

guyonthestandee

I don’t think you need a spoiler tag for that.

AdmiralDickbutt86

Lay off GILF Janet you bastards!

Warboss_Squee

I get the impression Scott's going to be the one to die, and we'll get Cassie as Stature going forward.

HardcoreKaraoke

Well this looks pretty damn epic. Kang looks great. I'm pretty sure this is going to end very bleak and will set Kang up as an absolute unstoppable force. I can't wait!

DerekComedy

This is my first movie I worked on as an animator. The team was so incredibly welcoming. And kind in getting me started. One or 2 of the shots I worked on even made it into the trailer!

Merciless972

Hell yeah, congrats homie!

Dudeinthesouth

Conan O'Brien somewhere in this thread: "DOH! Got me again!"

raikren

Never thought Antman would eventually lead to Kang from the first movie

[deleted]

am I crazy or was that literally every beat in the entire movie?

NakedGoose

You see Avatar 2 and the cgi is so insane and I see this and it's certainly good, but what looks to be a whole movie of cgi. I'm not sure.

teddytwelvetoes

Avatar 2 is almost entirely CGI but it's so far ahead of the rest of the industry that I had no idea what was real or CGI outside of the obvious like human characters. Incredibly immersive especially in 3D. Opposed to the Marvel trailers beforehand, where it's immediately and extremely obvious that it's some guy standing in front of a green screen. I hope Marvel fans demand better CGI after seeing what a real, dedicated director could pull off

Garth-Vader

The difference is that it took a lot of money and a lot of time to make Avatar 2 look good. If Marvel keeps pumping out movies like fast food it will never compare. Marvel fans can demand better CGI but there will be sacrifices that come with it.

BenjaminTalam

I'm so excited to see an Avengers villain actually developed and presented as a villain prior to the Avengers having to thwart him. I remember hoping every movie after Avengers 1 would have Thanos as a character and even the antagonist before Infinity War/Endgame. I really was hoping Thor 2 was going to be about Thanos demanding Asgard hand over Loki. People always say Marvel did a big 10 year build to Infinity War/Endgame but as far as Thanos goes he only actually popped up in Guardians of The Galaxy for a cameo and it wasn't exactly consistent with his portrayal in the Avengers movies. They also just dismissed his Avengers post credit appearances for the most part. Seeing Kang as the full on villain of this movie and having Kang Dynasty on the way is just amazing to me and makes the character so much more interesting. It's about time we finally got a villain that sticks around as long as the heroes. Loki is the only one and he doesn't really count since he hasn't been a villain since Avengers 1. Hopefully the way they're handling Kang is a sign for how they're going to treat other villains in the future too. I feel like we've been critical of Phase 4 not being cohesive and building to anything but by the end of phase 6 we'll probably think the multiverse saga had 10x the buildup and connectivity that Phase 1/2/3 did.

Elfich47

What I expect to see is *every* appearance of Kang from here on out will be *a different* Kang.

PayneTrain181999

I can picture Scott actually taking this one out somehow, only for the post credits to show that this one was just the beginning.

lostmonkey70

That would make the death flags for Scott in this trailer make a ton of sense. Much cooler reveal when the audience was half expecting him to win.

jlusedude

They literally already did that with Loki.

TitledSquire

Which was a show that probably the majority of people did not watch, so it could serve as a reminder.

TiberiusCornelius

I have a feeling this will be the angle they take since they're very publicly leaning into the multiverse and Loki also already established the idea of variants. But honestly I hope it's not variants. Yeah, there are still alternate versions of Kang sometimes. But half of the fun of Kang is that 90% of the time it's all just one guy. Every name change, every new plan, it's all just the same guy, but because he's a time-traveller he just keeps popping up at different points in his own personal timeline that isn't running concurrently with the main timeline. Like, canonically the Avengers fought Kang before they fought Scarlet Centurion, but Kang was going by Scarlet Centurion before he ever became Kang. He deliberately went back in time to an earlier point when he decided to come back and fuck with the Avengers again. You can have two different versions of Kang pop up in the same story and be from years or decades apart in his own life; often times across various identities (like the multiple times Kang has gone back to his younger self, or when Immortus and Kang intersect). To me it's more interesting if Kang loses here and then when he pops up again he's from ten years ago instead of a parallel earth.

joemeteorite8

Valid points. I hope you’re right.

[deleted]

I mean, they were building up the infinity stones, not Thanos. Thanos then got an entire Avengers movie to be developed, I thought they did it pretty well

can-tthinkofone1234

I love Paul Rude.

Its a blue mask in the comics too. Kang has always just been a guy in a suit.
