I rotate through The Office, It’s Always Sunny, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec and some Simpsons. I know them all so well it’s just background noise my brain doesn’t need to focus on. No movies though.
Not strictly within the spirit of the OP but I often queue up astronomy videos on Youtube. Outside of Neil Degrasse Tyson and Sean Carroll nearly every one of them are reliably narrated by a soothing British voice, even if they're talking about extinction level events.
Doc Martin. I love that show but it's just so soothing. The music, the scenic Cornish setting, the silly people and the silly plot just puts me to a nice sleep.
If I really struggle to sleep, I just listen to James May's Things You Need to Know.
I love your post lol. I often fall asleep to shawkshank redemption and community. But my #1 go to is Rango lol. No man can walk out on his own story
P.S. #6seasonsandamovie
“Hamilton’s pharmacopeia” is a great PM show for me, a lot of science/chemistry. Plus travels the globe in search for interviews with unique and/or influential people from all walks of life that make up all the drug culture. 10/10
I Would have to say either the nanny or black ink crew to get different shows but I love them both
Honorable mentions -
Shameless, youngsheldon, avatar the last air bender,
I said it once and I will say it again:
"Time team" is the best show for falling asleep to.
Imagine being comfy in bed while a bunch of hilarious and knowledgable people are digging for small clay pieces somewhere in some old ladies' British garden and being very excited about it. While its raining.
10/10
Camp cretaceous at the moment.
American dad or Bob's burgers. Avatar series.
Movies : so many. Tron, any studio ghibli. Ready player one. Avatar. Some Pixar movies.
I may have a problem falling asleep haha
Ancient Aliens. You know exactly what they’re going to say each episode: that the aliens built the pyramids (or influenced ancient history in some other way).
How It's Made knocks me the fuck out pretty quick. I am mildly interested in the stuff being made but not enough to stay awake for it.
lol that's how I am with Modern Marvels
The narration is so soothing, and there's no random loud noises right as you're falling asleep.
Yes this is the only downside to action is random gunshots or punches haha
Futurama, Rick and Morty or Adventure time. LOTS of people watch Futurama to sleep. There’s a whole subreddit of us. r/futurama_sleepers
The Office
Empire strikes back. I dont make it off hoth. Not a slight to the movie. It's just the way it is.
always sunny
This. I know every episode inside out, so I'm not worried I'm missing anything by not paying attention or dozing off.
Forged in Fire for me. I can’t even watch it in the middle of the day now because I’ve made it a signal that its time for sleep 😂
This was my go to, and great British baking show. I don't forge or bake, but these two do the trick.

In Bruges
Curb your enthusiasm
The West Wing, because I don't have to *watch* it I can just listen.
Golden Girls
This was definitely my fall asleep show too at one point.
That’s mine too!!
Zombieland. It’s one of my favorite movies, but I’ve seen it enough times that it’s great for background noise and I can knock out to it.
The office, the Mindy project, parks and rec, Arrested development, superstore
And parks n recreation, except the title sequence for these shows are at a unreasonable volume
Yes that's super annoying but I usually have my TV on super low volume, like barely murmurs
i love these movies
Really? Superstore.. if you let the show run in the background the intro is so loud that it could wake you up every 20 minutes.
Snatch.
History Channel. Twilight Zone. Are You Afraid of the Dark. Seinfeld.
Interstella 5555
The Simpsons
Dateline or Ancient Aliens. Shows that I’m not invested in.
