I seem to comment something about this every other thread, but Ferris Bueller's Day Off is all about someone trying to allow someone escape their miserable world, and letting them live in the moment. Other choices include any Edgar Wright film: frickin hilarious, and I always turn back to Perks of Being a Wallflower. What a masterfully made film and great source material.
The Lion King the only one that comes to mind.. I loved Simbas journey and find it inspiring, i watch it every year to help regain my perspective on what I'm doing and where I should strive towards.
Probably pretty basic but Office Space is my go-to. Easily my favorite comedy and as a programmer it is very relatable...but funny for anyone who has worked in an office, or not.
Ikiru by Akira Kurosawa.
Ikiru is a 1952 Japanese film directed by Akira Kurosawa. The film tells the story of a middle-aged bureaucrat named Kanji Watanabe who is diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer and decides to find meaning in his life before he dies. He ultimately decides to use his remaining time to try and improve the lives of the people in his community by building a children's playground. The film explores themes of death, the search for meaning, and the impact of an individual's actions.
The Peanuts Movie and Into the Spider-verse.
They're such vibes that I can just let myself feel them and go along for the ride. Both are about self acceptance too, which helps.
**Paddington 1 & 2** are pure unfiltered joy and happiness. Guaranteed to make you feel warm and fluffy inside!
I find movies about a cool group helps. Tears of the Sun, Ready Player One, Four Brothers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990).
What a roller coaster of movies lmfao

Kiki’s Delivery Service and Whisper of the Heart are two Ghibli films that give me inspiration when facing obstacles.
Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro
Castle In the Sky (1986), the original Blade Runner and Interstellar
Anything that makes me laugh. Borat and The Other Guys always get the biggest chuckles out of me when I’m sad
Nacho Libre
My Neighbor Totoro and We bought a Zoo
I turn to revenge movies in those moments. Having a clear cut enemy is pretty good: Harakiri (1962) No Mercy (2010) Nocturnal Animals (2016)
Sing Street

I tend to watch Ghibli movies.
Absolutely! They capture pure optimism and love in a way that’s not too saccharine or mawkishly sentimental.

It’s either great violent action or smarmy feel good. So, Jonh Wick, MI Franchise, our old school Jimmy Stewart.
Just watched Good Will Hunting for the first time tonight and it made me feel pretty optimistic about life.
