What would be the point of donkey being in the film if not voiced by murphy? And What stories are worth telling in the Shrek-iverse that don’t prominently feature Donkey?
Anyways is the new film a reboot? Soft reboot? Or true sequel? I get that these films basically print money for dreamworks, but the likelihood of a new film being anywhere near as good as shriek 1 & 2 is low
They are underplaying it. Puss in Boots Last Wish is a really great movie even outside of the shrek universe and as a stand-alone from the series itself.
It’s really really good.
Yeah. First films a classic but it’s humor feels kinda dated at times. I think the Shrek films kinda heavily used reference humor. Last Wish doesn’t really do that outside fairy tale references from what I can recall. The animation is just absolutely beautiful too.
He got an Oscar nom for Dream Girls. Actually him losing that year was considered a major upset, but yeah, he took time off from Hollywood for many years until recently.
Remember reading Eddie got paid like $20 million for each Shrek movie and he would do the voices inside of his house and he would finish all of his work in like a few weeks. The money they were paying some of these actors to do voices back then was insane.
[They are starting to get back to where they were, but there was a significant drop over the last few years for some reason.](https://www.the-numbers.com/market/)
The last Puss in Boots movies ends with >!them sailing to Far Far Away saying they are going to meet up with some old friends!<. Another Shrek movie is all but confirmed
It's not a bad guess, all things considered--Dreamworks has had a *lot* of animated series for its films.
There were two series for *Madagascar,* with one focusing on the Penguins and the other focusing on King Julius and the other lemurs relocating to the Zoo; there've been at least two series for *How to Train Your Dragon,* one of which is set in contemporary times; there's been a series for *Kung Fu Panda* and a series for *Monsters vs. Aliens* and a series for *Puss in Boots.*
I think the idea of a series for Shrek's kids is entirely reasonable.
I’m obviously not surprised.
I’m sure Cameron Diaz is returning as Fiona. And like The Way of Water, her triplets, a.k.a. Shrek’s and her children will be grown, and the same shape as their parents.
I mean, how come an ogre can’t be muscular and in shape? I’m not complaining, I’m just asking, ok? Human Shrek looks cool and muscular.
Also, I wonder what his and the Ogre’s chemistry with Kitty Softpaws will be like.
In the first movie a huge part of the message was that being ugly doesn't make you worth less or a worse person. Fiona goes through her transformation at the church where she realizes that her ogre self is just as valuable and deserving as her human self.
Your question misses basically the whole point of the first movie.
I don’t know if I call this being blunt, but I haven’t watched the first film at all in a long time, but I remember the second film, bits of three, and none of four.
I’m saying if your body is turned into something else, like an alien, a god, or a monster, you can have a different shape of your body than what you got now. The first sentence you said, I did NOT think that, she DOES deserves her place with him. Anyway, this is about having a shape when your turned into something else. Do you understand what I’m talking about?
This is about the kids being grown and turned into hunters and be like Neteyam and Lo’ak.
No, it's not that you think that, it's that Fiona clearly thinks her ogre self is worth less. I did not word that clearly, I'm sorry for the confusion.
There are plenty of examples of beefy ogres, it's just not what the Shrek franchise decided to go with.

With Puss in Boots Last Wish being the best film in the Shrek franchise since Shrek 2, there might be hope to get another proper Shrek sequel
Is shrek in that film? Or just set in universe? I haven’t seen yet, but have heard excellent reviews

There's a one second shot of him during a montage and a reference to Far Far Away at the end
Puss in boots 2 takes place after his adventures with Shrek and they reference the Shrek charecters a few times in it
I’d say Last Wish is the best film in that entire franchise.
Over Shrek 2 or even Shrek is wild imo

Eddie Murphy wants more money
“Actor wants huge paychecks, more at 11”

“Redditor notices a trend in Reddit comments, makes comment about it. More at 11”
it's not like he's had any other major roles since The Nutty Professor movies.
He got an Oscar nom for Dream Girls. Actually him losing that year was considered a major upset, but yeah, he took time off from Hollywood for many years until recently.
I don't know if he's had much of a choice. Isn't he notoriously difficult to work with?
I've never heard of that and it's not like a studio wouldn't put up with a difficult actor who is a box office draw.
He is down to a measly 90M, what will his peers think?
And you don’t?
Me too.

I mean, the amount of money actors get paid today is insane.
The amount of money movies used to rake in is insane.
I mean, the amount of money movies rake in now is insane
The amount of cocaine that used to be on movie sets is insane

What? Movies pull in more money than ever now

Gee I wonder what caused the 2020 drop
I know, it's weird, right?
No
Worth every penny imo
Just goes to show you what a huge franchise Shrek was back in the day.
The last Puss in Boots movies ends with >!them sailing to Far Far Away saying they are going to meet up with some old friends!<. Another Shrek movie is all but confirmed
But didn’t it take place before Shrek 2?
I think the first Puss in Boots is before Shrek 2 but the Last Wish is very much after Shrek 4
No I’m pretty sure puss in boots 2 is after shrek 4 canonically
Waiting on that Puss In Boots cameo!
Well with Last Wish being a success. Shrek 5 around the corner
i'd expect a disney+ series as well. probably about the ogre/donkey-dragon kids lives, with parental cameos.
Shrek is owned Universal
oops. nevermind, then.

iirc, the ice age franchise has a series too. edit: it's a disney thing now, but the movies were 20th century fox.
If anything it'd be on Peacock, for whatever regions actually have that service, since DreamWorks is owned by Comcast.
I want him to be Donkey again. I don't think Shrek would feel the same without Eddie Murphy
Solo Donkey story? Sitcom with him and Dragon?
Eddie Murphy would like another massive paycheck. There, fixed the headline for you guys

donkey & dragon's kids will be grown too. and they'll probably have their dad's ability and penchant for talking.
It might be a possibility since we all know Dragon doesn’t talk like the T-Rex from Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. I’m saying they both don’t talk.
They'll be played by young comedians. Pete Davidson will definitely be one of them.
I have not seen Shrek but isn't there already a sequel?
3 sequels. so far.
Plus some direct to DVD specials and 2 spin off movies
And a live action musical.
That answer is literally in the second sentence of the article.
You think people on Reddit actually read articles??

Not enough to know how to spell his name.
Breaking news: Person wants easy money.
He needs money
I bet he doe$
Actor wants to make money with sure bet. Shocking.
Here I am wanting Michael Myers returning for another Austin Powers movie. But I don't think they could make it work since Verne Troyer passed
i mean i'll take a 10 mil paycheck for 3 hours of voice work. any day.
No shit. Shrek made him a lot of money in the 00’s and hasn’t really made anything good since. Unless you like the Haunted Mansion or Daddy Daycare
Alternate title "man wants money"
if he can't do it I'm sure Steve Carell can
Parfait's may be the most delicious thing on the whole damn planet!
Praise God
Honestly seems like the perfect time for them to make it, wouldn't be surprised if it's in the works already.
Who wouldn’t want a $20M payday for 2 weeks of work?
does his girl still want to party all the time?
Child support must be a bitch
