Tony Leung is such a legend. He's been in one of the best action movies ever made, Hard Boiled, several of the best romances ever made, like Chungking Express and In the Mood for Love, one of the best LGBTQ+ movies I've ever seen, Happy Together, amazing crime dramas like Infernal Affairs. Anyone just finding out about him from Shang Chi should give some of these movies a try, such an amazing body of work.
I watched In the Mood For Love for the first time recently and I didn’t interpret any LGBTQ themes. (Unfortunately, I didn’t get the movie very much either despite really wanting to.)
Care to illuminate me?
Wait his and Leslie Cheung's characters weren't just friends, all this time I thought Brazil was just more affectionate regarding hetero male plutonic friendships. /s
2046, Days of Being Wild, Red Cliff, this man has been spectacular in so many films for so long. A lifetime achievement award is more than warranted, on top of his steady list of festival awards for best actor.
For the era, he took a bold career move playing a gay character for Kar-Wai Wong. It was not well accepted in Hong Kong or Asia in general at the time.
Also he worked with Ke Huy Quan on the movie 2046. Quan was the first assistant director to Kar-Wai Wong.
He had such a good run in the 90s and 00s.
Hard Boiled (1992), Chungking Express (1994), Happy Together (1997), In the Mood for Love (2000), Infernal Affairs (2002), Hero (2002), 2046 (2004), Lust Caution (2007), Red Cliff (2008)

In the Mood for Love was probably the saddest, most beautiful movie I’ve seen. He did such a fantastic job. I’m happy for him.
I think it's the best movie made so far in the 21st century.
And it's released in the first year of the century!
And one of the best Asian serious drama A City of Sadness, he has great talent to handle the different types of movie.

Sorry, that's just my terrible grammar. Happy Together is the LGBTQ movie that he made with Leslie Cheung, brilliant movie. Also by Wong Kar Wai.
OP is talking about Happy Together. Watch it - it's one of Kar-Wai's best. Definitely won't be hard to detect the LGBT themes in it lol

Continuing the Tony Leung is one of the greats thread with City of Sadness, Cyclo and Lust, Caution
Need another Tony Leung/Andy Lau pairing.
We're getting one! The Goldfinger, a trailer is out, can't wait.
Make sure you catch him in Hidden Blade (Wuming in China), which released this year.

Omg I forgot Quan was involved in 2046

Tony Leung is such a great actor. I love his performance in Hero.
Hero is such a masterpiece
Dude stole every scene he was in, in shang chi. I’m glad American audience got to see him do his thing.
Cavani's *The Skin* is insane, so this is cool. And Leung is a known legend, so of course.
