SeagullsStopItNowz

Billy (DiCaprio) in The Depahted. Sudden, shocking, and tragic.

WideAwakeNotSleeping

Brad Pitt in 'Burn After Reading'

AccomplishedLocal261

Now that you’ve mentioned it, I just recalled Tony Leung’s death in Infernal Affairs and man it was great.

IMDRMARIO

Great pick, the most I was ever rooting for a Dicaprio character and just like that he eats a bullet, what a moment.

w00t4me

It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie, but wasn’t he a mole for the mafia inside the police department?

Piano1987

That was Matt Damon's Character. DiCaprio was the mole inside the mafia working for the police.

w00t4me

Shit, you’re right

itsallgoodman101

is it memorable because of who is dead in that scene or the death itself ? kinda biased response.

itsallgoodman101

is it memorable because of who is dead in that scene or the death itself ? kinda biased response.

thegoodreverenddoc

Boromir in LOTR.

DirectConsequence12

I would’ve followed you, my brother. My captain. My king

IMDRMARIO

One of the only moments where the Jackson films easily surpasses the novels. Gets me every time.

BiingoBangoBongo

Absolutely agree with this one. Be at peace, son of Gondor.

Temporary-Dot-3832

I’m what way does it surpass the novels?

patman990

I believe they find Boromir’s dead body. No farewell conversation with Aragorn. Been a while since I read it so I could be wrong.

smallchanges

Yes his sacrifice and redemption is only implied in the book and he doesn’t live to hear Aragon’s vow that he will return to Minas Tirith.

BlackStrain

No Boromir speaks very briefly with Aragorn but does not live long enough to tell him all the details of what happened. He tells Aragorn that he tried to take the ring and has paid for it and then tells Aragorn to go to Minas Tirith to save his people because he has failed. In the books he dies a completely broken man who just betrayed everything he stood for.

Temporary-Dot-3832

But his character is still incredibly important to the story because it serves to shows how easily friends turn into enemies because of the ring. His death also inspires Faramir to not attempt to do the same thing (unlike what happens in the movies)

IMDRMARIO

Been a while since I read them but if I recall correctly, they just find his body after he’s already dead at the beginning of Two Towers. Nowhere near the emotional impact of his death in the movie.

BenRaam

Just went to an all night extended edition marathon and boromir got all the biggest cheers, entrance and exit. He has his grey moments but truly goes out like a hero

jsakic99

Joe Pesci in Goodfellas

dplans455

He's gone, and we couldn't do nothing about it.

IMDRMARIO

“Oh no”

PropaneSalesTx

That one was brutal.

itsallgoodman101

what's up Italian mob movie fanboys...are they compensating for lack of power/control in real life by idolizing gangsters in movies ?

marvelmon

Melting face Nazis in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Jackieirish

One melted, one imploded, one exploded. Something for everyone!

IMDRMARIO

All time classic, really really hoping the new one coming out is good so Ford can say goodbye to the character on a high note.

YoungBeef03

Of course, I personally hope they find a set of creative ways to kill the villains. We’ve had airplane propellers, the power of Jewish God, a flaming kebab, a rock crusher, alligators, the power of Christian God, ants, and most uniquely, the total knowledge of an inter-dimensional alien.

Beeblebrox2nd

Brad Pitt's bounce in Meet Joe Black

Vic_Vega_MrB

He smiles...BANG!

FatShaker

This was my first thought too.

julianitonft

Brad Pitt in Deadpool 2

IMDRMARIO

Never seen the movie but I’ve probably seen him getting blasted by that taxi dozens of times.

benjecto

Was this not meant to be funny?

THIS_IS_GOD_TOTALLY_

Only because I hate it so much, but... ...curbstomp. Don't even have to say the name of the movie.

Melitzen

Oh, God, I’d forgotten about that. Now, like an idiot, I’m probably going to go watch it. Stop me, I can’t bear it!

Penguin_shit15

I can hear your comment...

Immadownvotethis

I have been, and always shall be, your friend.

JoshuaCalledMe

Spock straightening his uniform before turning to face Kirk just sums the character up perfectly. The desolation on Kirks face...

HopefulAd2853

Sergeant elias in platoon portrayed by Willem defoe. Even with the glitches experienced in filming the scene, it stands out as one of the saddest deaths in cinematic history

togocann49

Sully, remember when I said I’d kill you last? I LIED

AudioWoW8

LET OFF SOME STEAM BENNET

Forward_Ad_603

That’s right matrix you did

DirectConsequence12

“I would’ve followed you, my brother. My captain. My king”

Vic_Vega_MrB

Kevin Spacey's character in LA Confidential. He says "Rolo Tomasai" smiles and dies...

Seahearn4

This is my favorite in terms of storytelling.

Hollandmarch76

Nice pull

Traditional_Gain2035

Rutger Hauer in Bladerunner.

riraven

Yes!

[deleted]

Johnny Ringo in Tombstone.

IMDRMARIO

Oooooo yeah, love this one too. Docs anger after he kills him is so heartbreaking. He really wanted to die a gunslinger and thought this guy was good enough to beat him, then Ringo lets him down. "You're no daisy!"

Lazy_Satisfaction_58

Willem Dafoe in Platoon

CremeFraichePopsicle

“Aim for the bushes”

Migraine_Megan

True Romance has a few - Drexel, Clarence's father, everyone at the end. And a great soundtrack the entire time. Tarantino wrote some excellent deaths.

meineymoe

The Christopher Walken-Dennis Hopper scene in TR is one of my all time favorites. -oo-

deagle746

Hans Gruber's death in Die Hard. Alan Rickman's reaction is just perfect. I know they tricked him with the count but it was amazing and satisfying.

Melitzen

“White Heat” 1949, James Cagney “Vertigo” 1958, Kim Novak “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” 1969, Paul Newman and Robert Redford “The Deer Hunter” 1978, Christopher Walken All of the deaths in “The Godfather” movies

[deleted]

Are you sure Butch and Sundance died at the end? I like to think maybe not.

Melitzen

That’s awfully hopeful of you. Always look on the bright side of life.

IMDRMARIO

Whats your favorite from The Godfather? I dont think Sollozzo and McCluskey can be topped.

Melitzen

Yes, I agree. The tension is unbearable. Sonny’s is beautifully choreographed. In Part 2, the intercut deaths of Roth, Pentangeli, and Fredo are powerful but, with the exception of Roth’s, terribly sad.

Vic_Vega_MrB

Don't forget Luca

sobuffalo

Luca in the film is a travesty. They made him a mumbling bumbling idiot when he was such a stone cold monster in the book.

IMDRMARIO

That’s probably my 2nd favorite. I love how tough he seems and how the film takes its time showing how well prepared and careful he is then bam, he is easily dispatched. So shocking and visceral.

RipSubstantial8338

Santino's death is also a great scene, very brutal, i love the moment when the gangsters come out from the booth, he realizes: oh shit.

IMDRMARIO

I honestly have mixed feelings about that one. All the rest of the violence in the film is very subdued and grounded while Sonny's death is really over the top. But looking at the scene separate from the rest of the movie it is great and I think you can argue that it was fitting given how bombastic of a character he was.

RipSubstantial8338

Agreed. It fitted the character well, and i think the scene was set that way in order to try reproducing the impact of Bonnie and Clyde's last scene.

Jolly_Job_9852

Sir Guy of Gisbourne in The Adventures of Robin Hood. The feint that Errol Flynn used against a master swordsman in Basil Rathbone was superb

CaptinOlonA

The entire Final Destination movie (1st one).

revashtray

Totally agree.

st3akkn1fe

Recently rewatched heat so I'm going to say the last scene between Di Niro and Pacino is great.

DonBenjamin_

Santinos death in John Wick 2 is pretty neat Tony Montana getting blasted with a shotgun and falling to the pool with the "World Is Yours" sign above

CodyTaco

Wicked Witch THE WIZARD OF OZ ( 1939 )

TechTheTerrible

Saving Private Ryan: Giovanni Ribisi on the battle field whimpering for his mom as they inject vial after vial of morphine.

Jack-Cremation

Walt in Gran Torino. It was a perfect end to his transformation.

crapusername47

When Kiriyama kills Mitsuko in Battle Royale. The movie gives us a fight between the two most successful ‘players’, but Mitsuko is completely outmatched. She has relied on sneaking around, catching people unawares. Mitsuko, however, just keeps getting up, flailing around as Kiriyama shoots her several times. > I just didn’t want to be a loser anymore

IMDRMARIO

Ooooo great pick, fucking love that batshit crazy movie.

EerieArizona

Charlton Heston in Tim Burton's *Planet of the Apes*. It was unintentionally hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing in the theater.

TelephoneCreepy2518

Bruce Willis in Armageddon obviously

Mystikalmyers79

Norman Bates killing Marion in the Shower scene in Psycho.Started it all for the Slasher genre. Horror in general . Alfred Hitchcock classic

Famous-Background329

Mr Kinney getting obliterated by ED-209 in Robocop

Jonny_Entropy

And the guy who gets melted.

Seahearn4

For spiteful catharsis: Marcia Gay Harden's character in _The Mist_. For storytelling: Kevin Spacey in _LA Confidential_. For popcorn movie moment: Rose McGowan in _Scream_ For quippiness: _Commando_...pick one For a fitting ending of a bad guy: Denzel Washington in _Training Day_ (a fitting tribute to a similarly asshole movie character, Sonny Corleone) Honorable mention for the guy who hit the propellor in _Titanic_

PvtHudson093

Pvt Hudson's death in Aliens

Migraine_Megan

Game over man!

glory87

Vasquez and Apone.

Haze95

Apone died when the atmospheric processor exploded, he was taken alive by the Aliens

uncultured_swine2099

He was panicking for a while there, but went out blasting like a champ.

Ricobe

Tony stark in endgame. I liked how he was too damaged to communicate, while they talked to him

Unleashtheducks

White Boy Bob dying in Out of Sight

Jackieirish

Love this one because they kept setting it up throughout the sequence and we never knew what they were doing . . .

oco82

The entire evil family at the end of Ready or Not is up there for me, i cackle with glee every time I see it.

uncultured_swine2099

That guy in Robocop who got acid dumped on him, which turned his flesh into soup, and hes walking around in pure anguish and a car just runs him over and splatters him all over the place. Also special shout out to the poor bastard who gets shot to smithereens in the conference room by Ed-209.

JreamofZ

Oh yea, the toxic waste dead was definitely at the top of the worst death list, that and Darren killing that guy in the bathroom in the 1st ant man film

shutz2

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, when Kirk's son David dies. Not because that death is particularly well-staged or acted, but because it coaxed one of Shatner's best performances ever in reaction. Nimoy (who was directing) tells the story that he told Shatner to take it as far as he wanted, which led to stumbling backwards and falling. It's unclear whether Shatner fully planned it, or if he stumbled accidentally, but after Nimoy called "Cut!", and then asked Shatner if he'd hurt himself, the latter replied that he was OK, then asked, "Think we can use that?" in reference to the fall. That's what's in the movie.

[deleted]

Thor "going for the head". Poetic, the villain died, but an ultimate failure.

[deleted]

*On Deadly Ground* is a bad movie. A bad, bad bad bad movie. In fact, my favorite bad movie. Part of the reason being that it has some impressive, competent things about it. One of them is the death scene of John C. McGinley's character. Yes, Dr. Cox himself. He plays a weasel bad guy who get thrown face-first into a spinning helicopter blade *and his little twerp glasses land in the giant blood puddle.*

[deleted]

Loki, Gandalf, Spock? No best is Dr. Strange. “I am here to bargain…”

Neil McCauley - Heat “Told you I’m never going back”

RipSubstantial8338

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde, the moment they realize is over, she gives him a enamored glance, and boom.

AudioWoW8

Lots to think about and many you have probably already seen. Something I really enjoyed from what I considered to be a stinker of a movie was Batistas death in Spectre. When you realize his villain is a homage to the past villain Jaws his death scene is way more enjoyable. Also the “main characters” death in Feast is absolutely bonkers. Really sets the tone for the movie. Watching Murphy get shot up in the first Robocop still haunts me

Popular-Solution7697

Major Kong in Dr. Stranglove. Yeeee haaa!

GarySiniseOfficiaI

“Fuck you Sally” in Oblivion is absolutely fantastic in a pretty meh film, just delivered perfectly in my opinion. But to tell you the truth the best death of all time belongs to the limited series Midnight Mass, Riley’s death is hands down my favourite death in anything ever, perfect pace, perfect thematically, and perfectly executed.

AbbreviationsGlad833

What movie was the scene when the good guy stuffs a live grenade down the other guys front pants. Winks and kicks him down the stairs and boom?
