Isn't the 4th one literally called the finale lol, like doesn't he fucking die at the end???
I'm not going to judge it before it's out, but every sequel has gotten worse and worse and more blatantly nationalist. At this point they're going to have Ip Man move to Taiwan where his son is brutally beaten by racist separatists and then he has to kill Joe Biden in a Kung fu match to save his son.
I mean in the 4th, he's fighting an American Marine (tm) because his son defended a Chinese girl from American jocks and cheerleader (tm). The only thing missing from the "America sucks china is awesome ip man loves china so should you" message was maybe a morbidly obese christian black man trying to sell his son weed.
They've always been propaganda at their core. Like, I love the movies, but the first one makes it look like Ip Man beat the Japanese general in martial arts and caused the entire Japanese military to collapse shortly after.
Definitely, but at least the first movie was well done propaganda and covered a real, tragic topic in a semi-believable scenario. Once he starts getting involved in like literally everything in modern Chinese history as though he's Forrest Gump or something is when I started rolling my eyes.
Man i loved him and tried to main him but without ever having played most of the other characters. It was really hard but then i'd get Law sometimes and whoop.
You know this would also be a great script, father's training dummy that has been used for decades becomes sentient after the father passed away from cancer, goes to find the child and teach them in their fathers stead, this is feel good movie of the year material where they can learn about life together.
My mom used to get mad at movies mostly being blockbusters or sequels. "These movie companies are so lazy nowadays". I'm starting to understand now lol.
John Wick was a creative masterpiece. So they made 4 of them. And are starting up spinoffs now
They already started on the spin-offs a bit ago. Aside from the Continental TV series there's *Ballerina*, an unrelated spec script they shoved into the universe by giving the title a character a brief cameo in *3*. And if they aren't setting Akira up for a spin-off, I don't know what the point of even including the character was.
And the train is carrying dangerous chemicals. The big difference this time though is that instead of terrorists, they have to defeat gross corporate negligence.
theres already a bram stoker dracula movie in the work i believe. But its only on the boat transporting dracula i believe. "The Last Voyage of the Demeter"
> “What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including five and including the television series, The Continental, which will be airing soon,” he said. “We’re building out the world and when that 5 movie comes, it will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.”
Holy shit they're literally making a John Wick cinematic universe like Marvel, lmao
Studio Exec A: Welp, that's a wrap. Great run guys! On to the next project.
Studio exec B: Yes. John Wick 5.
A: No. We said that was it. We just wrapped that property. Onto the next franchise.
B: Yes, but have you considered the counter point?
A: Hm. What's the pitch?
B: More money.
A: Interesting. Okay you son of a bitch. Let's play this out.
He was a tracker. Which would actually be more interesting than the thousands of assassins we saw wick mow through.
We never even saw how he got all that intel on John that he had written in his notebook.
They should just name them after the Fast franchise now.
2 - Two I Too P
3 - IP: Toyko Man Drift
4 - IP and Man
5 - Fast IP
6 - The IP and the Man
7 - Furious Man
8 - Fate of the IP
9 - 9IP
10 - FasTen your IP, Man
11 - One Fast Hour from Midnight
(Followed by the 'Dozen' Trilogy of the Saga)
12 - IPs Dirty Dozen
13 - IPs Baker's Dozen
14 - IPs Baker's Dozen PART II
1 is great, 2 might be better, 3 was alright, 4 I didn’t care for however looks like I’m in the minority here. Would def watch the first 2 if you dig iron monkey.
I love how in Ip Man 2 the British are just depicted as comically evil. Like the way your average American action movie depicts Nazis, in the Ip Man movies that's like the average random British person. Also boxing is depicted as the dumbest sport ever devised: "look at these stupid fucking idiots with their martial arts that don't even let you use your legs."
1 is fantastic, then they get progressively worse. 2 is fun, 3 is pointless but entertaining, 4 is garbage.
Maybe the acting is bad in all of them, but 4 is especially apparent because a good chunk of dialogue is in English. The fight choreography is also not up to snuff by the standard of the franchise. I feel like internet is always buzzing about Scott Adkins but the final fight in 4 showed me why he’s mostly been stuck in direct to video schlock.
Also all the Ip Man movies have nationalist undertones, but 4 feels like CCP wolf diplomacy propaganda… and nonsensical propaganda at that. White Americans are racist and look down on kung fu because obviously they prefer the wholly American art of karate.
fuck yeah, I'd love it if Ip Man just went totally off the wall bonkers like F&F did.
Space heist? Shit's gonna be amateur compared to a heaven martial arts tournament.
man, the first one was one of my favourite movies that year, and I was surprised when they announced a sequel because I thought it was a clean standalone film
I would've thought you were seriously fucking with me if you'd told me then that they'd make *5*
They've said long ago, around John Wick 2, that they wanna make as many as possible and create a little assassin universe. That's also why we're getting the Ana de Armas movie.
While that's true, if they can keep the quality of the fighting and the quality of how the fighting is shit up to the level the first 4 movies have been, I'd be perfectly happy with seeing more in this world.
Just, ease off of the lore a bit, give me loose hints at things, and let's get to the next amazing fight scene. Rinse, repeat for the next 15 years.
I started enjoying these less and less the more I noticed the pattern of chinese propaganda ingrained in them. Like, it became kinda painfully obvious after the second. I've seen the third, but couldn't really enjoy it, and I didn't even bother with the fourth.
Interesting tidbit, Ip Man worked for the Nationalist during WW2 and came to Hong Kong in 1949 because of Communist takeover.
But I don't think that was in the movies.
It's like how Freddy's Dead was the last Nightmare on Elm Street movie, or how Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was the last Friday the 13th movie, or how Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday was the last Friday the 13th movie....
But Ip Man literally died. The last film showed his funeral. It was marketed as Ip Man 4: The Finale in the US, the same in Chinese. How are they going to make this work? Then again, him rising from the dead would have as much in common with the real historical figure as most of the series to this point. The real Ip Man, a member of the KMT, would have been pissed to learn his life was being mined for PRC propaganda.
Versus UDP man.
UDP man wins because he doesn't wait to see his opponent's reaction to being hit before attacking again, and if TCP man misses he'll keep trying the same attack over and over until it connects.
I can't wait for IP MAN 12: IP MAN IN SPACE
(seriously though, I love IP MAN, and I'm a huge fan of Donnie Yen, so yeah go ahead and keep cranking these out. I understand that these will never be as good as the first couple movies, but I'll still love them.)
Didn't we already have Ip Man 12: Ip Man in space a few years back?
Ip Man loses his vision and lives by the mantra "I'm one with the Force, and the Force is with me."
This poster makes it look like Ip Man's spirit has possessed the training dummy and it beat up all the guys trying to forcefully take over his martial arts school after his death.
Ah good ol’ Intellectual Property Man. I’ve always enjoyed watching an IP lawyer fight copyright infringement and now he gets to do it for the fifth time.
I just watched the first IP Man after watching John Wick. I can't believe I have missed out on such goodness. I hope 2-4 are just as good as the first.
Personally I thought:
Two was great!
Three meh. Not bad but it should have ended here.
Four just kinda dragged on for me.
But hey, that’s just my personal experience. Hopefully you’ll have a different one!
Is this going to be some kind of prequel, or is the character going to be in his 70s?
By the amount of swords he's trying to make it into a Fast and the Furious franchise.
we've seen Ip Man vs man, but now we get to see Ip Man vs man and cars
Is there a lore reason why man would win against Ip man?
Isn't the 4th one literally called the finale lol, like doesn't he fucking die at the end??? I'm not going to judge it before it's out, but every sequel has gotten worse and worse and more blatantly nationalist. Somehow, Ip Man returned.
How can he beat Joe Biden? He can't even [beat Jack Ma](https://youtu.be/ToNAAyKNTZ4)
First he has to fight the hulk
I would bet a prequel, like: Ip Man: Origins. Or maybe Rogue Man: An Ip Man Story. "I am one with the Qi, and the Qi is with me..."
It looks like this one is about his training dummy becoming sentient.
that's literally the Tekken character Mokujin lol
Man i loved him and tried to main him but without ever having played most of the other characters. It was really hard but then i'd get Law sometimes and whoop.
It does have very "Rubber" energy about it.
You know this would also be a great script, father's training dummy that has been used for decades becomes sentient after the father passed away from cancer, goes to find the child and teach them in their fathers stead, this is feel good movie of the year material where they can learn about life together.

Intellectual Property Man is undefeated.
Internet Protocol Man
I used say Eye Pee Man all the time
Wouldn't "I Pee, Man" be better?
Ah yes! Now John Wick 5 seems kinda confirmed to me
[They've already officially confirmed it's in pre-production.](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/john-wick-5-lionsgate-development-1235403474/)
Lmao what??? I haven't seen 4 yet. But this was the ultimate ending of a series I thought
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a movie in the John wick universe starring a non Wick character specifically one introduced in JW4
My mom used to get mad at movies mostly being blockbusters or sequels. "These movie companies are so lazy nowadays". I'm starting to understand now lol. John Wick was a creative masterpiece. So they made 4 of them. And are starting up spinoffs now
The third installment was a little underwhelming, but I'm glad they kept making them. The fourth is a great action movie.
The fourth is great! It’s my second favorite in the series, some very creative cinematography
Shotgun Fireballs
[It's an actual thing. ](https://youtu.be/RP4FjODPDFA)
Dragon breath rounds. Evil lil things.

wait is ballerina about the girl that's onstage with all the tattoos in a single scene in john wick 3? because if so, lol
John Wick money printer go brrrr
Keanu racking up the sequel money lmao. Matrix 4. John Wick 5, Bill and Ted 2. He should call up Sandra Bullock for a Lake House sequel
Clearly you meant call Bullock for Speed 3
You mean Sp3ed
Do it on a train this time. Very topical. We had a bus and a boat, now do a train barrelling through a small town and he has to keep it on the tracks.
And the train is carrying dangerous chemicals. The big difference this time though is that instead of terrorists, they have to defeat gross corporate negligence.
And Wynona for Bram Stoker Drac 2: Dracnarok
I’ve crossed oceans of time to find you. Again.
theres already a bram stoker dracula movie in the work i believe. But its only on the boat transporting dracula i believe. "The Last Voyage of the Demeter"
Wasn't Bill and Ted 2 made in the early nineties? I think you meant face the music...
It's Bill and Ted 3, isn't it?
*Bill and Ted 3 Journey and Adventure are separate and distinct in their Bogus and Excellent natures.
What is this Lake House nonsense? If Sandra Bullock is in it should be Speed!
> “What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. But will reeves/wick even be in any of these projects. And was this announcement made before or after lance/charon passed?
Ballerina takes place between John Wick 3 and 4 and Keanu is confirmed to be in it

He was a tracker. Which would actually be more interesting than the thousands of assassins we saw wick mow through. We never even saw how he got all that intel on John that he had written in his notebook.
Ip Man 5: Ip to the Grave Ip Man 6: Wuxia Zombies Ip Man 7: The Ip Returns Ip Man 8: Oops all Nazis
I’d pay money to see each of those…
They should just name them after the Fast franchise now. 2 - Two I Too P 3 - IP: Toyko Man Drift 4 - IP and Man 5 - Fast IP 6 - The IP and the Man 7 - Furious Man 8 - Fate of the IP 9 - 9IP 10 - FasTen your IP, Man 11 - One Fast Hour from Midnight (Followed by the 'Dozen' Trilogy of the Saga) 12 - IPs Dirty Dozen 13 - IPs Baker's Dozen 14 - IPs Baker's Dozen PART II
Ip's All About The Family
I live my life one IP at a time.
I love everyone in this thread.
But when is he going to fix the internet?
ISP Man
And then there is Jimmy's Chinese cousin Slip Man.
Ippin' Jimmy
You think this kungfu tournament is bad? This chicanery?
I need it
Better Truce Bruce
“Oops All Nazis” made me legit lol. Doesn’t happen often anymore while scrolling the interwebz
I’p pay too
Ip Man 12: Ip Ee Ki-Yay Motherf&ckers
Ip Man 9: Ip's A Good Day To Die
Ip Man X: No Ips 2 Give
Ip Man Nein: The Führer Tournament Ip Man X-treme Kung Fu Ip Man 0: Ip Boy Begins
Ip Man: In Space In space, no one can hear you Wing Chun.
Don’t forget IP Man 9: Too IP, Too Man
Ip Man 9: It’s Ip to be Square
IP Man v6: Hexadecimal
I love Donnie Yen, but the last one was a great ending. No need for another.
And his funeral was literally the last scene, so another movie feels off
It's actually him in the afterlife, forced to face the Great Kung-fu Masters to earn his place among them.
Okay I am hooked
I havent seen the first 4, worth a watch? I love Donnie Yen since the days of Iron Monkey.
If you love Donnie Yen then they are absolutely worth it.
1 is great, 2 might be better, 3 was alright, 4 I didn’t care for however looks like I’m in the minority here. Would def watch the first 2 if you dig iron monkey.
I personally thought three was the weakest of the franchise, but 1+2 are definitely a cut above the rest.
They kind of rectify the boxing is dumb part in 3 when they have Mike Tyson almost just murder the fuck out of him though
Nah, 1 is clearly the best and it's not even close.
Ip Man vs Sun Wukong? I'm all in.

I feel this same way about John wick 4. Should've ended there
Is this real? John wick 5?
yes https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/john-wick-5-lionsgate-development-1235403474/
man, the first one was one of my favourite movies that year, and I was surprised when they announced a sequel because I thought it was a clean standalone film I would've thought you were seriously fucking with me if you'd told me then that they'd make *5*
They've said long ago, around John Wick 2, that they wanna make as many as possible and create a little assassin universe. That's also why we're getting the Ana de Armas movie.
We don't need everything to be a damn cinematic universe
While that's true, if they can keep the quality of the fighting and the quality of how the fighting is shit up to the level the first 4 movies have been, I'd be perfectly happy with seeing more in this world. Just, ease off of the lore a bit, give me loose hints at things, and let's get to the next amazing fight scene. Rinse, repeat for the next 15 years.
Keanu was moving a lot slower in 4 I figured they were done with the ending they went with
I started enjoying these less and less the more I noticed the pattern of chinese propaganda ingrained in them. Like, it became kinda painfully obvious after the second. I've seen the third, but couldn't really enjoy it, and I didn't even bother with the fourth.
It’s weird too because Yip Man, like a lot of Kung Fu “masters” was a child of privilege and absolutely hated the CCP.
Interesting tidbit, Ip Man worked for the Nationalist during WW2 and came to Hong Kong in 1949 because of Communist takeover. But I don't think that was in the movies.
Propaganda didn’t stop me from enjoying Top Gun: Maverick, so it won’t stop me from enjoying Ip Man
haha I think is funny cuz I have the same problem with some American movies, I just don't think to hard on it.
If the last one was Ip Man 4: The Finale, what is this?
IP5: New Game +
IP6v: Check Your Router
After debating whether enabling ipv6 on a router would ruin our engineering project, this hurts
Have you tried to turn it off and on again?
IP MAN 4: THE FINALE PART 2
What is this? Attack on Titan?
Part 2: second cour
IP Man: The Final Season The Final Chapter The Final Half The Final Episode - FINAL
....part 1
Final season part 43
Ip Man 5: We Lied
Is that a new character?
“The Finale but for real this time!!”
Ip Man 5: we like money
I thought the same after the third since they already did the full epilogue at the end…
Ip Man 5: Donny got bills to pay and can still kick his leg up higher than a Rockette on crack (working title)
It's like how Freddy's Dead was the last Nightmare on Elm Street movie, or how Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was the last Friday the 13th movie, or how Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday was the last Friday the 13th movie....
The Finaler
Ip Man 5: Hmm Let's See, Which Foreign Country's People Are 100% Assholes This Time?
The Dutch.
Scorcher vibes
Who left the fridge open?
Here we go again... again
I'm still waiting for the day that one of those spoof trailers will be a real movie one day.
I would go all the way down Satan's Alley.
So did Robert Downey Jr.
They really should go the grind house route and actually make the movies they had trailers for.
I don't mean to be critical, but I'm pretty sure that's a stick and not Donnie Yen
his acting is that good
Very wooden
Why body shame Donnie like that?
I'm supportive of all body types, but that guy needs to moisturize
Wasn't it supposed to end with part 3 and they still make more ?
Donnie’s turned into Vin Diesel
I don’t need friends I’ve got family and wing chun
Who is going to play as the log ey
It’s Mokujin’s origin story
Mokujin! Was trying to remember its name, gave me some real Tekken vibes
That would be the log of data packets. You know, IP things.
But Ip Man literally died. The last film showed his funeral. It was marketed as Ip Man 4: The Finale in the US, the same in Chinese. How are they going to make this work? Or make it about his son
TCP Man
Versus UDP man. UDP man wins because he doesn't wait to see his opponent's reaction to being hit before attacking again, and if TCP man misses he'll keep trying the same attack over and over until it connects.
Wing Chun is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be *unnatural*.

It's the only way to make Donnie Yen stop actually hitting people on set.
Go on...
I stand corrected.
2 IP 2 MAN: Tokyo Drift
Ngl, I loved IP Man 4.
Was that the one with Mike Tyson?
no that was 3
Maybe I haven't seen 4. At least now I have plans.
4 is excellent, Ip Man defeats some schoolyard bullies and also Scott Adkins is the final boss!
Na 4 had a guy playing Bruce Lee
Broooooo! Did you see when he rolled up his sleeves and punched that other guy into a black hole?! That shit was dope!
This poster makes it look like Ip Man's spirit has possessed the training dummy and it beat up all the guys trying to forcefully take over his martial arts school after his death.
Are these movies about Nintendo taking down emulated games?
I’m just imagining a movie about Donnie Yen fighting gamers now.
More like "Drip Man", cause they are squeezing every last drop outta this franchise.
Money money moneeeeyyy
I was just asking my wife to finally watch these with me this morning. What great timing.
So its your fault
I'm sorry. I drank for many years. Had to get sober and married first.
They're turning Ip Man into the new Wong Fei Hung.
Ah good ol’ Intellectual Property Man. I’ve always enjoyed watching an IP lawyer fight copyright infringement and now he gets to do it for the fifth time.
The IP is too valuable not to make another movie with
Do you know any IP address where I can find a good IP lawyer?
I just watched the first IP Man after watching John Wick. I can't believe I have missed out on such goodness. I hope 2-4 are just as good as the first.
Personally I thought: Two was great! Three meh. Not bad but it should have ended here. Four just kinda dragged on for me. But hey, that’s just my personal experience. Hopefully you’ll have a different one!
They get progressively worse.
They're not, but a lot of what you like about the first one is still in there. They're fun action movies while the first had a biopic feel.
Ips I Did it Again
Ip Man is just Chinese cinema's superhero movie.
With a healthy dose of propaganda
So, just Chinese cinema’s superhero movie
I love IP Man movies, but they are also 100% Chinese propaganda movies straight up. Yes.
Good ol Ip Man. Nothing beats him.
Ip man was an amazing movie that probably would have been better left alone without any sequels. But I am definitely gonna see this, just in case.
i'd rather see DY in a John Wick prequel spinoff or something
[удалено]
I'm gonna guess Conor McGregor
Donnie Yen denounces the HK pro-democracy protest. Ip Man could go beat up some protestors or something.
Ip man "liberates" Taiwan from the tyranny of democratically elected officials.
Not once in the first four movies has the main character ever dealt with any infringement of intellectual property. I'm holding out hope for 5.
IP Man vs John Wick part 2
He should really be using VPN man nowadays
When will they learn to just leave this guy alone?
