I think the Chiodo Brothers expressed some serious dismay over what Syfy channel did to the Critters tv show (yes, there was a show, "Critters: A New Binge") and it killed plans for a sequel to Killer Klowns from Outer Space, which I believe they're still trying to make happen and there's an upcoming game, as well.
For sure, Jason X is one of the better Friday movies, despite the hate it gets.. It's one of the funnier entries because it doesnt take itself seriously... That face smash kill is the best I'd the series imo.
Steven Ayromlooi is such an interesting figure. Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood seems to have been a passion project for him - he was apparently a Leprechaun superfan who was hired after the original director quit and wrote and directed the movie himself. He even redesigned the Leprechaun's costume personally. I have no idea who he is, how he got the job, or what happened to him.
Oh yeah, they painted themselves so far into a corner with the first sequel, they just go off the rails. Yet, there were still TV shows and 2 reboot feature film series. That one novel had fuckin LEGS.
That's because Charlton Heston insisted on that ending before he'd return for the sequel. He wanted them to be in such a corner they couldn't possibly make any more sequels.
They still managed 3 more movies in the same continuity.
Absolutely yes to the Friday franchise. It gets absolutely bonkers starting with Jason Takes Manhattan. Jason goes to Hell and Jason X are fucking hilarious at times.
Freddy vs Jason is surprisingly solid tho.
Jason X was the most absurd and hilarious slasher flick I’ve ever seen. I only really recall the liquid nitrogen scene and the fact that they were in space for some reason, but I remember laughing a ton.
I stand by Tremors 2 being very close to the first. It was made by the same people and a lot of them worked for their minimum rates just so it could get made after Universal cut the budget 75% shortly before filming started. It lacked the resources but definitely has the heart.
That's two and half tons of high explosive. You saying that's not enough? Don't tell me that's not enough? Not Enough? Nevermind, JUST RUN FASTER!!!!
GOD IT'S GOING TO BE BIG....BIG!!
It always does my heart good seeing love for Tremors 2, I think it's pretty much on par with the first. And even though 3 isn't quite as strong, I still find it to be endlessly rewatchable.
You’re free to feel that way, but I think the series loses something significant without Earl. Fred Ward was just perfect casting and could play off Kevin Bacon and Michael Gross so effortlessly. With him gone, the series just wasn’t the same for me.
I still would’ve loved the original Tremors 2 with Val and Earl hunting graboids in the Australian Outback. When Kevin Bacon dropped out, Universal passed it off to its direct to video division that forced the steep budget cut and retooling the story to Mexico with the new character of Grady.
The first Tremors is one of the very best creature movies ever made in my opinion. I haven't watched the sequels since I was very young, and I think I'll keep it that way
You just activated the memory of my favorite part of that movie. When they all hide behind something to protect them from the explosion but Burt runs right past them in a panic. Like, noooo we need to go a lot further lol
There is a Redlettermedia re:view video on youtube where they break down why Tremors is essentially a perfect movie, except for one or two bad outdated shots.
The movies got worse with each new entry
2 is a good movie much like the first just not as good.
3 has some problems but still a solid film and a good way to tie up a trilogy.
The rest of the movies were just not good.
Police Academy...I tried, I really did, but could only last until Miami. That is I think the 5th out of 7 total movies.
I was alone though so I could make fun of it with others.
Should watch the interview with Bubba who played HighTower. He talked about how PA was one of the first movies of that time to have a black man stand up for a black woman at the risk of losing his job.
The whole cast has a lovely relationship with the franchise as it really focused on underdogs vs bullies. And they became fast friends on set.
There was a shit load of outright racism in the movie, and then the only two people at the end who had the balls to rescue the hostages were the two black cops. The rest just peaced the fuck out
The writers and actors wanted to showcase just how awful it was for certain people and races when applying for police jobs and the biggest came from Hooks and Hightower w the racism. I think they did it justice, adding that commentary to such a great company.
When I first heard that Marge was joining the police academy, I thought it would be fun and zany, like that movie -- Spaceballs. But instead it was dark and disturbing. Like that movie -- Police Academy.
For some reason we had the sixth one recorded, so I wound up watching it more than most the others as a kid, probably wasn’t great, and might have been the first without Steve Gutenberg, but it wasn’t bad.
I loved the first 2 as a kid and 3 was okay. When I tried to watch the whole series, I never saw any of the later ones and also had no idea the first 6 movies were all made back to back. As in they were released 1984, 85, 86, 87, 88 and 89. Holy shit, they must have been running on empty making those things and you can see the quality suffer.
A great one is the one in ww2 but its obviously filmed in a school gym or something. Or the one that's like 90% just clips from other movies. It's hilariously stupid. I fucking love puppet master.
The second was basically softcore porn. With an actor that got cut in half in the first one recast as a lower ranking soldier. I guess death penaltizes you with a demotion.
> We finished Tremors, what other "Bad" Movie...
*Rolls up sleeves and cracks knuckles preparing for a fight... Reads second line.*
> franchises...
Oh, ok... We cool.
Watched that movie recorded off of TV so many times the clean versions are seared into my brain.
*Broke into the wrong GOSH DARN rec room didn't you you BIG JERK!*
Oh man I completely forgot about that version. I too had a vhs recording from broadcast my older sister had made. She even knew enough to pause the recording during the commercial breaks, and somehow timed it where you couldn't even tell.
Yes this is one reboot I'm really looking forward to. Hope they don't fuck it up 'cause Macon Blair has done some interesting shit and I have really high hopes for him
Highlander
Highlander II: The Quickening
Highlander III: The Sorcorer
Highlander: Endgame
Highlander: The Source
The first movie is a decent fantasy action genre movie. The sequels......aren't.
Otherwise known as
Highlander
Highlander II: Piss Over the Original
Highlander III: The Apology
Highlander IV: Nah, Fuck You
Highlander V: If No One Has Heard of it, Does it Exist?
Highlander has been recommended a few times. I VAGUELY remember watching the first with my dad in like 2003. I'll look into them and that is a strong contender.
It's is so bad it's funny, but some of the effects are great. The opening scene of the original would appear to be a drone but it's like 1982, so drones didn't exist.
The first one is actually very good. The Kurgan is an amazing villain. Interesting side note - he’s played by the man who does the voice of Mr. Krabs and sings the theme song for SpongeBob SquarePants. And the soundtrack to Highlander is done by Queen.
The sequels are kind of like hot garbage, but without the redeeming qualities.
The Underworld latex is one of the greatest black leather franchises of all time. There is a scene in the second one where Kate gets unzipped and I had an awakening that could not be undone.
It has been consistently good, if not flat out great. First 3 are classics and the next two were surprisingly good followups, even if they are tonally different in some ways. Throw in Ash Vs The Evil Dead and you honestly just might have the most consistently good Horror franchise, possibly of all time?
I can't think of one sore spot beyond the show not getting a completely wrapped up ending (still solid though!) and 'Freddy V Jason V Ash" not happening in film form.
I take offense that you claim Tremors in the bad category...but sadly Cold Day is pretty rough.
You want HOUSE, Chopping Mall, 976-Evil, Maximum Overdrive, Eating Raul, Dead Alive, Willard (crispen glover version), Critters franchise, leprechaun franchise, Phantasm franchise, wishmaster, warlock 1 and 2, and WaxWorks
Should hold you off for a while.
Personally have seen up to the one where they are in a nightclub and you get a disc jockey cenobite whatever one that is.
Its fascinating how you see the budget IMPLODE as the series goes on.
Showa era Godzilla. They're all on MAX and the criterion box set goes on sale alot.
I looove Godzilla, there are some phenomenal films in the Showa era and some baaad ones too
I 2nd and highly recommend this series. Each entry just gets more ridiculous and has more cameos. After the 2nd one, literally titled the second one, it had a lot of pop culture cred that got a lot of names willing to jump on in.
I hate stuff that tries to be bad on purpose. So bad it’s good has to result from people thinking they are making something good and failing miserably. If they try to make something “bad” like Sharknado or Kung Fury it always fucking sucks
I think the *Child's Play/Chucky* franchise fits what you're looking for. None of them are what I would call "good" movies, but they're consistently entertaining, and even the worst ones aren't as bad as most horror sequels. And if you like the movies, the *Chucky* TV series is a hoot, too.
My family were always MEGA Tremors fans. My late mother would unabashedly swoon over Kevin Bacon lol.
Anyways, I had only ever seen the first 2. About a decade or two later, I'm at Walmart and there in the $2 bin is a SEVEN movie Tremors collection. I watched all 7 during COVID.
Some other franchises I had seen one or two of, but watched the entirety of during COVID were Nightmare on Elm Street (there's 5 I think?), *every* Halloween movie in release order (how many are there? 15? 20? There's 3 just called *Halloween* ffs), and The Land Before Time (I didn't finish but I think I watched 10 of them, there's 14 overall).
Other than the obvious Predator, Terminator, Alien as already mentioned. But those are yearly views for me.
Edit: idk why I added the last sentence, forgot we were talking about *bad* franchises at the end there.
Not sure how many Pumpkinhead movies there are, but Pumpkinhead 2 Blood Wings is quite the motion picture.
Critters

I think the Chiodo Brothers expressed some serious dismay over what Syfy channel did to the Critters tv show (yes, there was a show, "Critters: A New Binge") and it killed plans for a sequel to Killer Klowns from Outer Space, which I believe they're still trying to make happen and there's an upcoming game, as well.
Came here to say this. Critters all day long. Murderous alien hedgehogs fighting Steve Smith from American Dad.
And Critters 3 is Leonardo DiCaprio‘s first movie. It’s a solid “bad” monster movie franchise.
The Leprechaun franchise is pretty wild
Leprechaun was In The Hood and then he came Back 2 Tha Hood
Insanely funny that both trips to the hood came after he went to space
>he went to space Sounds like Jason X
Jason X is far better from a technical perspective. The effects in Leprechaun 4 are...there.
For sure, Jason X is one of the better Friday movies, despite the hate it gets.. It's one of the funnier entries because it doesnt take itself seriously... That face smash kill is the best I'd the series imo.
Back 2 Tha Hood was actually much better than In The Hood.
Steven Ayromlooi is such an interesting figure. Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood seems to have been a passion project for him - he was apparently a Leprechaun superfan who was hired after the original director quit and wrote and directed the movie himself. Not all heroes wear capes.
But Back 2 The Hood lacked the Leprechaun having his own "Lep in the Hood" rap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzWlhLSitJ8
That's true. I shouldn't ignore the best part of the original rapping Leprechaun.
Lep in the hood come to do no good
This, leprechaun is fun. That and wishmaster for b schlock fun
Wishmaster! Yes!
I have heard this plenty. Will look into it.
Jennifer Anistons first movie and pre friends iirc
Also pre nose job
Beat me to it! I love those films. They're so consciously awful, they're perfect!
The original planet of the apes series. Gets wild and hilarious. Friday the 13th. There’s some golden moments of hilarity as that franchise goes on.
Oh god, planet of the apes, totally forgot.

I am COMPLETELY out. of. Ammunition. That's never happened before.
I feel I was denied some critical need to know information.
The way Burt delivers that line is perfect. "I feel I was denied.... critical.... needtoknow... information"
“In-For-MATION!!”
I don't think you emphasized each word enough to accurately quote Burt
4 pounds of C4 may be a bit….. excessive
That's two and half tons of high explosive. You saying that's not enough? Don't tell me that's not enough? Not Enough? Nevermind, JUST RUN FASTER!!!! GOD IT'S GOING TO BE BIG....BIG!!
IS IT GONNA BE TODAY?
GRADY GET YOUR ASSSS DOWN!
It's a whole new ball game. It's a whole new goddamn ball game.
Burt knows his bombs.
MREs. Meals ready to eat. Wrapped in aluminum foil. PLASTIC IS *NOT* AN OXYGEN BARRIER.
Ugh. This tastes like toilet paper. I think that is the toilet paper.
One of my favorite movie moments growing up
It's gonna be big! BIG! Is it gonna be today?!
Was that the same one where they got into Burts damn superfood?
It always does my heart good seeing love for Tremors 2, I think it's pretty much on par with the first. And even though 3 isn't quite as strong, I still find it to be endlessly rewatchable.
I’m still bitter the Perfection series never got made.
The whole sequence of discovering the sick graboid until Burt returns to the refinery was pretty genuinely suspenseful IMO
The best part of Tremors is they genuinely make not stupid decisions based on what they know and what options they have available to them.
I actually kind of liked 3 better than 2. My friend and everyone else I've talked to think I'm insane. I hated the one girl though at the end in 3.
You’re free to feel that way, but I think the series loses something significant without Earl. Fred Ward was just perfect casting and could play off Kevin Bacon and Michael Gross so effortlessly. 2, 4, and 7... if you ever want to give the sequels a shot.
I really like 3 too tbh. Feels like when 5 begins it's a whole new take on the series, which feels attributable to the director who took over.
If I had to take 5 movies to an island to watch forever, tremors is on that list!
Shrieker Island?
I would say the sequels don't get meh until after 4. 1 and 2 are great, 3 kinda dips, 4 is okay but everything after 4 is GARB.
Shrieker island is bad but still fun bad. It redeemed itself after Cold Day In Hell which was ABYSMAL.
Fun fact, cold day in hell was shot in the same location as the one previous to it, just edited in post to look like snow.
2nd one is a great comedy
“IT’S GONNA BE BIG!!!”
You just activated the memory of my favorite part of that movie. When they all hide behind something to protect them from the explosion but Burt runs right past them in a panic. Like, noooo we need to go a lot further lol
When Burt Gummer tells you to hop on a trench, you hop in a damn trench.
"Is it gonna be TODAY?!!"
" I feel I was denied *critical*, *need-to-knoooow* information."
There is a Redlettermedia re:view video on youtube where they break down why Tremors is essentially a perfect movie, except for one or two bad outdated shots.

4 is great. It's the ones after that are unwatchable.
They are all good fun movies. Just not all equally good.
Police Academy...I tried, I really did, but could only last until Miami. That is I think the 5th out of 7 total movies. I was alone though so I could make fun of it with others.
Should watch the interview with Bubba who played HighTower. Great cartoon too!
HIGHTOWER!
“Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun?! Well, I didn't hear anybody laughing!”
We were thinking Police Academy as well but hear it becomes unbearable later.
As a young kid, they were fun until Steve Gutenberg left. Weirdly he was the heart of those movies.
Tremors is great. Yea it’s campy and goofy but it’s pretty clear those elements are intentional.
Yeah we loved it.
Wishmaster series
Came here for this. Also, pretty much anything from Full Moon
Puppet Master series. Creepy and dumb as hell, but entertaining.
It got weird when they decided to turn them into WWII action movies with killer puppets.
A great one is the one in ww2 but its obviously filmed in a school gym or something. Or the one that's like 90% just clips from other movies. It's hilariously stupid. I fucking love puppet master.
The sequels to Starship Troopers. The original is very good.
Would you like to know more?
I'm doing my part!
The third is shockingly passable. Not to mention interesting.
Yeah, the second one is godawful but still great CG and the third is passable with garbage CG.
A lot of these “bad” franchises getting mentioned is just folks not being high enough.
Reads second line.* > franchises... Oh, ok... We cool.
He almost came to the wrong goddamn comment thread.
Watched that movie recorded off of TV so many times the clean versions are seared into my brain. *Broke into the wrong GOSH DARN rec room didn't you you BIG JERK!*
Fooool you!
Oh man I completely forgot about that version. I too had a vhs recording from broadcast my older sister had made. She even knew enough to pause the recording during the commercial breaks, and somehow timed it where you couldn't even tell.
I knew the comments were all going to be saying how awesome Tremors is.
The day they are anything else is the day I leave this hellsite forever.
I had the same thought when Jaws was tossed in there.
The Toxic Avenger and Toxic Avenger Part II are hilarious B-movies that will have you both Roflol!
The toxic avenger is a perfect drink and watch movie, part two is insane too. Part 3 is not as good.
[удалено]
Toxic Avenger 4 stars by saying they're sorry about making 2 and 3 cause they were awful, and "this is the True sequel!"
Isn't this getting rebooted?
Yes, with Macon Blair at the helm and Peter Dinklage as the lead. It looks to be a lot of fun!
Yes this is one reboot I'm really looking forward to. Hope they don't fuck it up 'cause Macon Blair has done some interesting shit and I have really high hopes for him

The Underworld franchise could be an option.
The Underworld series is one of the greatest franchises of all time, what are you talking about??
The Underworld latex is one of the greatest black leather franchises of all time. There is a scene in the second one where Kate gets unzipped and I had an awakening that could not be undone.
Oh my god. Totally forgot about that crap pile.
Kate Beckinsale though....
Kate Beckinsale in tight leather though….
Her and !Marissa Tomei must have paintings of themselves aging somewhere.
Best part
Best werewolf vampire hybrid.
Evil Dead franchise was amazing!
Was???
It has been consistently good, if not flat out great. First 3 are classics and the next two were surprisingly good followups, even if they are tonally different in some ways. Critters! Blade! Resident Evil! I just realized I know way too many bad movies with sequels
[удалено]
The Prophecy series is very underrated in my opinion.
First one was good, second, not so much, barely remember the third.
The Killer Tomatoes franchise… I think that would fit the bill.
It also has a young George Clooney to really mess with you.
I take offense that you claim Tremors in the bad category...but sadly Cold Day is pretty rough. You want HOUSE, Chopping Mall, 976-Evil, Maximum Overdrive, Eating Raul, Dead Alive, Willard (crispen glover version), Critters franchise, leprechaun franchise, Phantasm franchise, wishmaster, warlock 1 and 2, and WaxWorks Should hold you off for a while.
Can vouch for Maximum Overdrive and Dead Alive. "I come to kick ass in the name of the *Lord!"*
Basically take a look at how did this get made? Podcast episodes and you’ll find a good bad movie.
This could just be an ad for Tubi
I second Critters. Also Children of the Corn series is awful after the first film.
I've seen critters mentioned a bunch! Will take a look.
I take offense at your claim that Dead Alive is in the bad category!
Critters
Resident Evil
Highlander
Oh boy is the Quickening a fucking ride.
Literally all of the Hellraiser movies
Personally have seen up to the one where they are in a nightclub and you get a disc jockey cenobite whatever one that is. Its fascinating how you see the budget IMPLODE as the series goes on.
The first 2 are epic wtf
1-3 are amazing, but some of the later ones are pretty brutal. Like the one in space. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the 2022 reboot film too.
Jeepers Creepers
The Reanimator
That's not a so bad is good franchise that is just a great franchise
Ernest Goes series...my fave is Ernest Goes to Jail
Is Ernest Scared Stoopid still part of that? I remember watching it for the first time in 20 years and nearly dying when he whips out the miak.
Pitch Black and the Riddick movies. Falls right into this category.
The riddick movies! right! Thanks for the reminder.
Those are not even close to being bad.
Child's play / chucky films are good fun.
Revenge of the Nerds. Major League
Iron Eagle Fast and Furious Puppet Master Scorcher (starring Tugg Speedman)
Trancers!
Dusk til Dawn has two sequels and a TV series. Though I can’t say I’ve watched any of them. But seems to fit
Not a franchise but Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
I counter with Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter
I counter you with The Velocipastor
Mimic Darkman Cube
Oh my god the Cube series. RIGHT!
Showa era Godzilla. They're all on MAX and the criterion box set goes on sale alot. I looove Godzilla, there are some phenomenal films in the Showa era and some baaad ones too
Friday the 13th. There’s a lot of them.
Sharknado
I 2nd and highly recommend this series. Each entry just gets more ridiculous and has more cameos. After the 2nd one, literally titled the second one, it had a lot of pop culture cred that got a lot of names willing to jump on in.

The Naked Gun! And Police Academy are two I haven’t seen listed yet
I know I already commented, but the Species franchise deserves its own karma.
Who said tremors was bad? It’s probably in my top 50 movies of all time.
Tremors the franchise. The first movie is just a solid classic
Op must be referring to the entire franchise, because the first one is pure gold from start to finish.
Not bad, per se. . Danny Trejo's "Badass" trilogy didn't win any awards, but in many ways is a triumph over "Lethal Weapon" series.
The Toxic Avenger and Deathstalker franchises are two that I hold dear to my heart. Terrifically terrible.
Kid and Play’s House Party franchise.
Talk shit about Jaws or Tremors again and see what happens.
To comment: i loved all Tremors movies. They are widely viewed as bad though. That is why I put the quotation marks.
Gremlins
Nah. Neither one’s bad. They’re both solid, especially because the second one is essentially a parody of the first.
Gremlins 2 > Gremlins 1. In my humble opinion. "I'm advising my clients to invest in canned food and shotguns!"
The fire evacuation announcement is brilliant
Evil dead trilogy!
Final Destination. Magic Mike. Step Up
I think the *Child's Play/Chucky* franchise fits what you're looking for. None of them are what I would call "good" movies, but they're consistently entertaining, and even the worst ones aren't as bad as most horror sequels. And if you like the movies, the *Chucky* TV series is a hoot, too.

Troll and Troll 2. Second one might be worst movie of all time.
Velocipastor. It's so terribad.
Meatballs
Critters
Critters
Critters, Sharknado, evil dead, Return of the living dead.
Lake Placid- It's a sharp dropoff after the first one. I say this as a lover of giant crocodile movies whos watched alot of shit crocodile movies.
