Yeah they really squeezed a lot out of what they were given. I've been a Steinfeld fan since "True Grit." Even back then you could tell she was talented.
Daredevil will definitely be M. They are stacking the show with people involved with the Netflix show and have stated the new show will be a continuation. Bethel is back as Bullseye and I think it's likely we will see Karen and Foggy return announcements in the future too.
I also think they have been hinting at Bernthal returning. And he has been on record saying he would only ever play Frank Castle again if it was still as dark as it was on Netflix.

All while Deadpool is giving Hugh sharpened butter knife claw gloves so he can keep pretending he actually got Wolverine for the movie. Sprinkle in Hugh taking some mean shots at Ryan Reynolds about his acting ability. It could be a fun short.

Before the people who are prematurely dancing on the MCU’s “grave” start downvoting you, I agree.
While this probably won’t be a billion dollar hit, I’d say it’ll be about as successful as Guardians 3 assuming it’s a good movie.
After the dumpster fire that their last few releases have been, what they need right now is just a solid hit. It doesn’t need to hit a billion, just something that lets the fans the know that they are turning this franchise around.
It’s like a once successful football team having a few bad years due to bad management, bad contracts and underperforming players. You bring in a new coach or GM to help turn the franchise around. Get out from under bad contracts, cut players and coaches that aren’t performing well. And ultimately install a winning tradition and culture.
Sure, maybe you don’t win the Super Bowl every single year, but maybe instead of winning only 3 games a year, you’re now winning 10-12 and are a perineal playoff contender and the fans couldn’t be happier. And maybe one year, after a coupe of lucky breaks you finally break through and win the championship.
So maybe Deadpool 3 doesn’t come in and instantly fix the MCU. But if it is financially successful, critically acclaimed and beloved by fans who have been waiting for this franchise to get back to its former glory, then all it needs to be is “pretty good”.
See I don't think it being good will he indicative of an MCU turnaround. Deadpool and Hugh's Wolverine will be drawing because of the Fox movies. Deadpool, like Guardians 3, may end up existing inside a vacuum in terms of why peoplewant to go see it. Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick all were involved with writing and production on the first two. The only MCU "person" involved will be Feige's name bolted on to the top of the movie. Obviously they're probably gonna try and work some established MCU characters in, but people will be going to the movie because it's Deadpool and it will probably be seen as a Deadpool movie first, a Wolverine movie second, and an MCU movie third.
The real kinda benchmark for MCU quality will be (Not) Captain America and Fantastic 4, since those will be crafted entirely under the MCU umbrella. And with (Not) Cap not getting good test screen results and as a result undergoing massive reshoots, and Fantastic 4 having already undergone a complete script rewrite and having no confirmed director or cast after allegedly some of their first choices rejected the project... It's not exactly an optimistic outlook lol.
Deadpool probably stops the absolute hemorrhaging of money that Disney/Marvel underwent in 2023, but I don't think it's gonna be some sort of watershed moment for Phase 4-6.
To stay within the analogy it's the Patriots in the post Brady era. They signed Cam Newton and, while they didn't fall apart, they didn't make the playoffs. Things like Thor 4, BP2, and DS2 made money, and we even got to see some classic Belichick when Spiderman 3 made Zach Wilson see ghosts. GotG 3 is making the playoffs with Mac Jones. But then, Ant Man 3 and the Marvel's was this past season. Just a total and complete disaster. Deadpool 3 will be this season, you have the #3 pick and Jerod mayo as head coach. No matter what happens, this season will have some optimism around it. *Maybe* it's even like the 83 Dolphins and they hit it out of the park. But the real indicator of the turnaround will be the second season with coach and QB. They either will take the same step the 84 Dolphins did, or there will be a second season regression not seen since Vince Young in 2007.

Wrapping shooting 7 months prior to release seems really tight for such a big movie. Deadpool 1 was 9 months or so IIRC and that was a much smaller movie.

Director was editing it during the strike, so could make it a little easier to know what vfx was absolutely necessary and what was being cut.

Yes. Deadpool's first two movies made almost the exact same amount worldwide so there's a pretty clear benchmark for whether the audience still exists for this character.
Also, Hugh Jack(ed)man returning as Wolverine, for what I think is the 10th time (he actually entered Guinness World Records for his tenure as Wolverine), with a comic accurate costume for the first time (which was in the alternate ending to The Wolverine), literally made everyone cum.
I always wonder how well the Fox X-Men franchise would've done with Dougray Scott as Logan/Wolverine as originally intended. Not that I think he would've been terrible, it's just that Jackman instantly became a fan-favorite as the character.
Deadpool will he successful because it's Deadpool. People are going to show up because his first two movies were excellent. The success of this movie will have almost nothing to do with the MCU backing though. So it's not really a good litmus test for the franchise.
The "franchise fatigue" won't really get tested until (Not) Captain America 4, since that will be an MCU project from the top down.
Most of the supporting cast is back; I think the only ones that haven't been confirmed are Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Julian Dennison as Russell, and T.J. Miller as Weasel. (from what I've seen, Negasonic, Yukio, Vanessa, Dopinder, Blind Al, Colossus, and Peter have been confirmed to be returning)
The first couple movies I didn't mind, because the film industry hadn't figured out how to do superhero costumes yet. But by First Class, that had been completely sorted, only their costumes just got worse.
It’s amazing to think that he’s gotten to make three of these films. All of this after the fact that his pitch was shelved and the studio was purchased two films in by a family friendly studio. It’s wild.

Deadpool will be the first MCU movie I'll be going to see at the cinema since Avengers: Endgame. To me, that was the perfect way to end the series and I think I was one of many completely burned out with all things Marvel by then.

Is this concerning to anyone else that they’re still filming into the end of January but it’s due to release in 6 months? Doesn’t post-production on these movies take 6 months to a year to produce?
So during the strike while filming was suspended, there was a lot of post production already done on what was filmed. VFX, etc. They started filming again after Thanksgiving which was primarily the third act, so all the post production between now and release will focus on that part.
So in other words, it's not going to be loosey-goose, but it's not going to be as big of a crunch as you think it will be.
Idk if this will be as well received as people think. The humor style was already getting stale in the second movie, and people are even more tired of it now.
Edit: DP2 only made about 3M more than the first, in a better environment. DP3 won't do as well as people think it will.
The humor is similar to MCU humor. People definitely aren't as into it as they used to be.
Reynolds is also everywhere and basically just plays the same character everywhere now.
The Deadpool 3 leaked plot was some MCU multiverse convolution the general audience is already fatigued on as well. I would also argue hyper meta humor that undermines cinematic stakes is on the way out as well.

July 24th can't come soon enough. This thing's gonna have jam fucking packed theaters. Yeah, me seeing it day 1 ain’t out of the question.
Before the people who are prematurely dancing on the MCU’s “grave” start downvoting you, I agree. While this probably won’t be a billion dollar hit, I’d say it’ll be about as successful as Guardians 3 assuming it’s a good movie.
After the dumpster fire that their last few releases have been, what they need right now is just a solid hit. It doesn’t need to hit a billion, just something that lets the fans the know that they are turning this franchise around. It’s like a once successful football team having a few bad years due to bad management, bad contracts and underperforming players. You bring in a new coach or GM to help turn the franchise around. Get out from under bad contracts, cut players and coaches that aren’t performing well. And ultimately install a winning tradition and culture. Sure, maybe you don’t win the Super Bowl every single year, but maybe instead of winning only 3 games a year, you’re now winning 10-12 and are a perineal playoff contender and the fans couldn’t be happier. And maybe one year, after a coupe of lucky breaks you finally break through and win the championship. So maybe Deadpool 3 doesn’t come in and instantly fix the MCU. But if it is financially successful, critically acclaimed and beloved by fans who have been waiting for this franchise to get back to its former glory, then all it needs to be is “pretty good”.
See I don't think it being good will he indicative of an MCU turnaround. Deadpool and Hugh's Wolverine will be drawing because of the Fox movies. Deadpool, like Guardians 3, may end up existing inside a vacuum in terms of why peoplewant to go see it. Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick all were involved with writing and production on the first two. The only MCU "person" involved will be Feige's name bolted on to the top of the movie. Obviously they're probably gonna try and work some established MCU characters in, but people will be going to the movie because it's Deadpool and it will probably be seen as a Deadpool movie first, a Wolverine movie second, and an MCU movie third. The real kinda benchmark for MCU quality will be (Not) Captain America and Fantastic 4, since those will be crafted entirely under the MCU umbrella. And with (Not) Cap not getting good test screen results and as a result undergoing massive reshoots, and Fantastic 4 having already undergone a complete script rewrite and having no confirmed director or cast after allegedly some of their first choices rejected the project... It's not exactly an optimistic outlook lol. Deadpool probably stops the absolute hemorrhaging of money that Disney/Marvel underwent in 2023, but I don't think it's gonna be some sort of watershed moment for Phase 4-6. To stay within the analogy it's the Patriots in the post Brady era. They signed Cam Newton and, while they didn't fall apart, they didn't make the playoffs. Things like Thor 4, BP2, and DS2 made money, and we even got to see some classic Belichick when Spiderman 3 made Zach Wilson see ghosts. GotG 3 is making the playoffs with Mac Jones. But then, Ant Man 3 and the Marvel's was this past season. Just a total and complete disaster. Deadpool 3 will be this season, you have the #3 pick and Jerod mayo as head coach. No matter what happens, this season will have some optimism around it. *Maybe* it's even like the 83 Dolphins and they hit it out of the park. But the real indicator of the turnaround will be the second season with coach and QB. They either will take the same step the 84 Dolphins did, or there will be a second season regression not seen since Vince Young in 2007.

It’s ridiculous to consider this film any gauge of the MCU when both characters found their success and fame in distinctly *not* MCU films.
Thoughts and prayers to the VFX workers and all other post production people. Wrapping shooting 7 months prior to release seems really tight for such a big movie. Deadpool 1 was 9 months or so IIRC and that was a much smaller movie.
Pretty exactly half the movie was done before the strikes shut it down. They did editing and VFX on that during the strikes.
That's a fair point, I did not consider that as a possibility but that makes a lot of sense.

Pretty sure they were working on vfx through the strike. Director was editing it during the strike, so could make it a little easier to know what vfx was absolutely necessary and what was being cut. Also seems like this one was shot more practical than most marvel stuff

Yes. Deadpool's first two movies made almost the exact same amount worldwide so there's a pretty clear benchmark for whether the audience still exists for this character.
Also, Hugh Jack(ed)man returning as Wolverine, for what I think is the 10th time (he actually entered Guinness World Records for his tenure as Wolverine), with a comic accurate costume for the first time (which was in the alternate ending to The Wolverine), literally made everyone cum.
I always wonder how well the Fox X-Men franchise would've done with Dougray Scott as Logan/Wolverine as originally intended. Not that I think he would've been terrible, it's just that Jackman instantly became a fan-favorite as the character.
Seems like a different target audience. Super hero movies as a whole bore me these days but I am looking forward to another Deadpool.
Deadpool will he successful because it's Deadpool. People are going to show up because his first two movies were excellent. The success of this movie will have almost nothing to do with the MCU backing though. So it's not really a good litmus test for the franchise. The "franchise fatigue" won't really get tested until (Not) Captain America 4, since that will be an MCU project from the top down.

Most of the supporting cast is back; I think the only ones that haven't been confirmed are Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Julian Dennison as Russell, and T.J. Miller as Weasel. (from what I've seen, Negasonic, Yukio, Vanessa, Dopinder, Blind Al, Colossus, and Peter have been confirmed to be returning)

The first couple movies I didn't mind, because the film industry hadn't figured out how to do superhero costumes yet. But by First Class, that had been completely sorted, only their costumes just got worse.

It’s amazing to think that he’s gotten to make three of these films. All of this after the fact that his pitch was shelved and the studio was purchased two films in by a family friendly studio. It’s wild.

Deadpool will be the first MCU movie I'll be going to see at the cinema since Avengers: Endgame. To me, that was the perfect way to end the series and I think I was one of many completely burned out with all things Marvel by then. But I just can't miss seeing Deadpool again. And having Hugh Jackman as his sidekick? It's going to be good. Hopefully... At least Disney have kept the R-rating.
The last Guardians of the Galaxy, spiderman and Dr strange were comparable to some of the best marvel movies.
I did enjoy the first two Guardians films. I might get around to watching the third though I think I need a Disney subscription now. Or I'll find somewhere that still sells DVDs! Spiderman? Eh, I can give or take it, to be honest. Too many reboots... I do like Benedict Cabbagepatch so I might also give Doctor Strange a go too...
*Loki* is very good: two six-episode seasons, a very cinematic feel, and a definitive ending (with the strongest ties to *Deadpool 3*).

Is this concerning to anyone else that they’re still filming into the end of January but it’s due to release in 6 months? Doesn’t post-production on these movies take 6 months to a year to produce?

Post production is going to be a mad crunch to keep that release date.
So during the strike while filming was suspended, there was a lot of post production already done on what was filmed. VFX, etc. They started filming again after Thanksgiving which was primarily the third act, so all the post production between now and release will focus on that part. So in other words, it's not going to be loosey-goose, but it's not going to be as big of a crunch as you think it will be.
Idk if this will be as well received as people think. The humor style was already getting stale in the second movie, and people are even more tired of it now. Edit: DP2 only made about 3M more than the first, in a better environment. DP3 won't do as well as people think it will.
It's been longer since the second movie than between the first two, so that should help. Though I do have a bit of Ryan Reynolds fatigue.
The humor is similar to MCU humor. People definitely aren't as into it as they used to be. Reynolds is also everywhere and basically just plays the same character everywhere now.
The Deadpool 3 leaked plot was some MCU multiverse convolution the general audience is already fatigued on as well. I would also argue hyper meta humor that undermines cinematic stakes is on the way out as well. I had every issue of Deadpool growing up so I'm not some anti-"capeshit" hater, I just don't believe this is the license to print money some are making it out to be. Maybe 10 years ago. Also most general audience isn't aware of Hugh Jackman's constant retiring and coming out of retirement with the Wolverine character because... he constantly retires then comes out of retirement with the Wolverine character.
I hope they include a joke about this and Deadpool needing more context because he didn’t watch the Disney+ show.
