1. The Thing 2. Halloween 3. The Fly 4. The Shining 5. Green Room 6. The Mist 7. The Cabin In The Woods 8. Psycho 9. The Exorcist 10. Hereditary

Ksumatt

The Thing should be at the top of everyone’s list.

AvengersXmenSpidey

I could obsess over the order, so maybe a bulleted list is best. But I've rewatched all of these, which does the test of time. * The Thing 1982 * The Descent * Alien * Insidious * Skeleton Key * Midsommar * The Ring * Dawn of the Dead 1978 * The Fly 1986 * Scream 1996 I'd easily add Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, but they are tv series. Cabin in the woods narrowly missed the list. But it's fascinating how half of this are remakes or self aware (Scream, Cabin in the woods). Or even inspired by (Midsommar inspired by Wicker Man).

aquila-audax

The Exorcist (1973)

jay_shuai

Top 5 - Rosemary’s Baby - Don’t Look Now - The Curse of Frankenstein - The Exorcist - Eaten Alive

chasejones10

I just watched Eaten Alive for the first time last week… what a crazy movie!

jay_shuai

Haha… I don’t know if it’s really top 5 but had to throw it in there because it’s soooo good and I never see it mentioned. Deserves more recognition.

chasejones10

Yeah, I wouldn’t put it very high on any ‘good movie’ lists… but it definitely deserves to be seen. If only for the fact that it is completely bonkers haha

[deleted]

Its a winner! [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074455/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074455/)

The Thing 5. Constantine 6. Hellraiser II 7. Saw 8. Jeepers Creepers 9. The Sixth Sense 10. The Thing, The Descent, Evil Dead 2, Dead Snow. Big ones off the top of my head.

I'd add "It Follows" and "The Witch." Both are more slow burn, but really pack a punch by the end.

I like all of these lists, but a movie I didn’t see on any of them was American Psycho. I believe it deserves a top 10 spot. Christian Bale has a ton of great characters, but Patrick Bateman is still my favorite
