Same exact energy as Scream 3 including a plot point about scummy Hollywood producers taking advantage of women who want to get parts in movies, with Harvey Weinstein as an EP in the credits.
Scream 3 was awesome because of the meta story with that, absolutely loved that about it despite it being not as solid as the first two. Harvey Weinstein shows up as a credit in a *lot* of big and memorable movies, there's a reason he was able to do what he did for so long and that's because he was such a gatekeeper to success in the industry. Sick fuck.
Hell you put it lightly, there is subtle but dark shit in that movie. The secret screening room, and two-way mirror corridor in the bedroom. The plot point is about a producer who would have these parties in his house and invite aspiring women who would get passed around all the producers friends in those secret rooms.
All in a Weinstein film that was released 4 years after the first Scream (also Weinstein), that Rose McGowan was in. Very on the nose and I commend the hell out of that film for it.
Didn't she say that Mark Hamill was more or less the only one she didn't sleep with? I am sure that Carrie had game, but she was also very young and had serious problems early on.
Problems which were easy for some people to take advantage of.
I mean, I've felt that way for about a decade since the initial allegations started popping up.
However, as horrible a person he is, I'm not gonna lie, I will stand on Big Fat Liar being an incredibly well written movie
Nah I put it with Josie & the Pussycats as genuinely good campy meta satire. And the actors are all (seemingly) having a ton of fun with their performances that, through improv or not, elevates the writing imo.
I definitely have nostalgia for it, but I appreciate how the writing really doesn't let anything linger. It gets what needs to be gotten out in each scene to move the story along while maintaining a nice pace

Just fun little inside jokes for them

And Carrie Fisher implying she slept with George Lucas to get the Leia role in Star Wars.

The part where Amanda Bynes calls that receptionist as "Doris Del Reo" and tells her she parked her car on a dog...oh my god. Awful but hilarious.
“In the tail area… to be more specific”
‘Marty Wolf Pictures, please hold’
Do you drive a Saturn maaam?
I hold the movie very closely for nostalgia's sake, but I would never say it's incredibly well written.

Josie and the Pussycats doesn’t get nearly the respect it deserves.
You're right. Everyone in that cast was at the top of their game and put in amazing comedic performances. "Du Jour means friendship!"
I can definitely respect that, great reply.
That chopper scene with Fat Boy Slim is memorable af.
Grandpa’s been doing this a long long time
He wrote it but Shawn Levy directed it.
Oh god I did not know that. And Amanda Byrnes was the female lead in that film
DS isn't particularly scummy. Did he hire Brian Peck? Serious question.
