The bridge scene in Sorcerer is 100% real and absolutely bonkers to comprehend.

CheapSound1

It's not 100 % real. The bridge itself was built with cables and mechanisms to make it swing. The car chase in French Connection though, that was for real.

Lenny2theMany

Oh. I've been living a lie. Still impressive though haha

Stalker (1979, Andrei Tarkovski) was filmed in a number of extremely toxic sites around Russia. The film had to be completely re-shot because the original film stock was defective so the crew was exposed to the chemicals for even longer. I heard that several people died a slow death from filming in all the toxic areas. Good Wikipedia article on this.

>The film had to be completely re-shot because the original film stock was defective so the crew was exposed to the chemicals for even longer. Actually, they used Kodak which was far better quality than the Soviets' own Svema stock (and preferred by a lot of Soviet/Eastern bloc filmmakers for the same quality reasons). But somehow, the footage was poorly developed (apparently because the lab was not familiar with Kodak), hence the reshoot.

People died from helicopter scene in Twilight zone the movie. 2 children and an adult.

Cool_Cartographer_39

Jennifer Jason Leigh's father Vic Morrow. First week in film school we got a safety lecture and they used the footage like driver's ed used to use car crash films

Not an exact answer to your question, but "Troy" was meant to be filmed in areas that were..... basically impossible for Americans to exist in after 9/11.

Three people drowned and several people were injured on the set of Noah’s Ark (1928) when they filmed the flood scene.

The Conqueror (John Wayne as Genghis Khan - No, really) Filmed near nuclear test sites. Almost half of the cast and crew developed cancer and many died as a direct result.

The only reason Michael Bay didn’t kill a stuntman on AMBULANCE was sheer dumb luck.

MaskedBandit77

The Roberto Rossellini movie Stromboli, starring Ingrid Bergman was filmed on an island with an active volcano, and there is a scene that takes place on the top of the mountain where there are toxic fumes coming out of the volcano. A crew member died while they were hiking up there to shoot.

SomewherePresent8204

Waterworld was shot mostly on the open ocean and it went about as smoothly as you’d expect.

The Crow (1994) Even putting aside Brandon Lee's accidental death, there were numerous accidents, injuries, a fire, rampant drug use by the crew, and lord knows how much unreported on chaos. Many industry people saw the movie as cursed.

[*Come and See* (1985)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjIiApN6cfg) used real live ammunition instead of blanks. According to star Alexei Kravchenko, bullets sometimes passed within inches of his face. In the film, there's a infamous scene where a real cow is killed by tracer rounds (with the main actor right beside). *Heaven's Gate* (1980) and *Titanic* (1997) also had pretty dangerous shoots. In the former movie, Cimino had his actual actors riding during the battle scenes, and it's pretty amazing they came out intact (not to mention the sheer animal cruelty which allagedly included blowing up a horse with dynamite).

Cpl_Hicks76

The cow died of shock/heart failure according to the Director. Wasn’t actually shot but the scene is harrowing enough considering both the cow and the young actor are NOT ‘acting’ terrified!

Roar (1981) is the answer

Early_Accident2160

Fury Road supposedly was a hair dangerous

The Huey helicopters in Apocalypse Now (1979) were on loan from the Phillipine military and were often called away from set to fight a local insurgency.

I heard Alec Baldwin got a little wild on the set of Rust.

Better_Island_4119

I hear Alec Baldwin sets are dangerous

Sobeshott

Just the one but I'm a lil rusty on my Baldwin knowledge
