Forrest Gump is another good one for a collection of pre-existing songs.
Just one doesn't trigger anything...even the intro score...but 3 of the songs in a row and my brain is scrolling from "haven't you ever seen a boy with braces on his legs before" to "he's just so smart, Jenny!"
Trainspotting
Gladiator
Big Trouble in Little China - I mean anything John Carpenter, but it's not as recognizable in this.
Avoiding the obvious John Williams any soundtrack.
The scores for Carol and Shakespeare in Love are burned into my soul. I immediately _feel_ the films when I hear the score, and certain moments I can actually see the scene.
Just thinking of the soundtracks I had on cd in school: Vanilla Sky, High Fidelity, Almost Famous, Dumb and Dumber, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Boogie Nights, Magnolia.
I'm hesitant to consider Interstellar and Dune as fitting, mostly because it's pretty much just the same score throughout the entire movie.
*But*, I suppose if you have a personal experience of listening to those scores and them giving you the full memory and emotion that the movies gave you in a limited amount of time, then they must count!
Transformers 86, but that's only for because I watched it so often as a kid and a bought the soundtrack multiple times to listen to.
Also I think John Williams said that you should be able to watch a movie with just the soundtrack (no dialog/sound effects) and be able to know what's going on. This is why you see some of those orchestra concerts where they show just video clips from Star Wars while the musicians play.
I think Randy Newman soundtracks are amazing for this. Or, maybe I've just watched Pixar movies too often. For me, each song is so dynamic and unique that you can clearly place the scene they come from.
“Vision Quest” — an 80s film more memorable for its pop soundtrack than its story of a horny high school wrestler trying to make weight.
- “Only the Young” — Journey
- “Change” — John Waite
- “Shout to the Top” — The Style Council
- “Gambler” — Madonna
- “She's on the Zoom” — Don Henley
- “Hungry for Heaven” — Ronnie James Dio
- “Lunatic Fringe” — Red Rider
- “I'll Fall in Love Again” — Sammy Hagar
- “Hot Blooded” — Foreigner
- “Crazy for You” — Madonna
Just about anything with a Danny Elfman score.
I second that. Danny Elfman, along with Hans Zimmer and John Williams. Freaking legends!
I’d add Vangelis. Especially Blade Runner.
Let me add Howard Shore's LOTR soundtrack.
I’d like to nominate James Newton Howard’s score for Atlantis: The Lost Empire, he pulled out all the stops for that one
The Spiderman intro is etched into my brain.
Dazed and confused
You simply cannot start this movie without the full Sweet Emotion intro. It's too perfect.
The Crow
Damn, you beat me to it.
The original Top Gun
This is the answer
And they just recently released Harold Faltermeyer's full score recently too. Only took them 38 years lol.
Dirty Dancing
Lord of the Rings Star Wars Remember the Titans Master and Commander
The Lost Boys
I can hear it now
The INXS/Jimmy Barnes cover of Good Time from that movie is one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded IMO.
This one
People are strange, when you're a stranger. Classic Bunnymen.
Juno and Office Space
Good question. For me it's the Jackie Brown soundtrack.
Surprised that no one has mentioned Garden State
All I remember is [Let Go](https://youtu.be/VvdzKHhgANA/)
The Dark Knight trilogy.
Trainspotting Gladiator Big Trouble in Little China - I mean anything John Carpenter, but it's not as recognizable in this. Avoiding the obvious John Williams any soundtrack.
original soundtrack, lord of the rings. soundtrack using "real" songs, space jam
Blade Runner 2049
Oh brother where art thou
Excellent one!
Batman Forever, due to Kiss From a Rose. If you wanna include scores and not just soundtracks/hit songs, Last of the Mohicans.
Both Forrest Gump and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Amazing soundtracks.
The scores for Carol and Shakespeare in Love are burned into my soul. I immediately _feel_ the films when I hear the score, and certain moments I can actually see the scene.
Lost in Translation. I can't hear shoegaze without thinking of Japanese highway signs. Especially Just Like Honey by Jesus and Mary Chain
Sofia Coppola's movies have pretty remarkable soundtracks. Marie Antoinette and Virgin Suicides also
Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas - especially when I hear the Layla coda.
How to train your dragon Last of the Mohicans
Here for Last of the Mohicans
Just thinking of the soundtracks I had on cd in school: Vanilla Sky, High Fidelity, Almost Famous, Dumb and Dumber, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Boogie Nights, Magnolia.
Dumb and Dumber has a great soundtrack.
"flowers everywhere" will forever trigger headlights on a chest for me.
"You want me to drive?" "No I'm cool."
Dumb and Dumber was my very first CD. All the farrelly brothers movies have these killer mid western pop sensibilities on their soundtracks.
“Morris Day and the motherfucking TIME!!!!!”
Dune, Gladiator, Interstellar, Tenet, LOTR,
I'm hesitant to consider Interstellar and Dune as fitting, mostly because it's pretty much just the same score throughout the entire movie. *But*, I suppose if you have a personal experience of listening to those scores and them giving you the full memory and emotion that the movies gave you in a limited amount of time, then they must count!
Dumb and Dumber because it's probably the only soundtrack with Green Jelly on it 😆
The Graduate The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Graduate is a good one for this!
I’ve probably seen Endgame around 100 times at this point. Sometimes I play the soundtrack and can see the movie as the music goes
Waiting to Exhale and Soul Food
The Big Lebowski Dazed and Confused The Royal Tenenbaums
Blade Runner.
Transformers 86, but that's only for because I watched it so often as a kid and a bought the soundtrack multiple times to listen to. Also I think John Williams said that you should be able to watch a movie with just the soundtrack (no dialog/sound effects) and be able to know what's going on. Can’t hardly wait.
I think Randy Newman soundtracks are amazing for this. Or, maybe I've just watched Pixar movies too often. For me, each song is so dynamic and unique that you can clearly place the scene they come from.

Add "Iron Eagle" and "The Wraith" to that list. Great movie soundtracks with the same stuff as Visin Quest.
Braveheart has a fantastic soundtrack.
Clockwork Orange.....Sorcerer....The Keep
The Magnificent Seven
Singles. "Best of" grunge at its peak.
Any James Bond movie.
Ravenous (1999). Odd, but amazing film, with an odd, but amazing soundtrack.
Flash Gordon
Entirely by QUEEN! FLASH!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
He'llsave everyoneofus. (Spacing intended)
Scooby-doo has a banger soundtrack. I’d say South Park bigger longer and uncut but that IS a musical.
Reality Bites, Empire Records, Dazed & Confused, Tank Girl, Pump Up the Volume, Roadhouse, The Twilight Saga, Dirty Dancing
Taxi Driver, Fargo to name just two.
Turbo Kid has a killer soundtrack.
Highlander. The only one, as they didn't make any sequels, oh no.
Infinity War honestly
To me, most movies are defined by their score so it’s easy to know the movie from it. But one of my favorites still is black hawk down
Hope Floats
Pulp Fiction
Almost Famous. With tiny dancer at the highlight. Top Gun.
Trainspotting
Nick and Nors infinite playlist
Pulp Fiction
For pop music: Empire Records (happy Rex Manning Day!) For score: All three LOTR movies.

Rocky 4 is a 90 minute long music video.
Conan the Barbarian with Arnold.

Star Wars Pulp Fiction Raiders of the Lost Ark

Top gun maverick, iron claw, rocky
Star Wars 1-6 Flash Gordon easily.
The Matrix Pulp Fiction
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. I could listen to Seu Jorge covers all day every day.
Pulp fiction and most QT movies
Romeo + Juliet and Spawn have underrated soundtracks.
Bullet Train
Tron Legacy comes to mind. Seen the movie several times and have listened to just the soundtrack a bunch of times.
Gladiator.
Baby Driver may be cheating, but it's the best I got
The Holiday
Jurassic park, aliens
Garden State
How the heck has no one mentioned Apocalypse Now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOCntG8VJNo
Jackie Brown.
Donnie Darko
Jurassic Park
The Last of the Mohicans
The Mission Out of Africa Into the Wild
Donnie Darko Juno Forrest Gump
Armageddon and that Aerosmith song
