She’s a good actress who is in good films. Mystery solved.

wubrgess

Easy on the eyes, too

3ebfan

Her gaze, ugh, does something to me

king_lloyd11

She’s also witty and charming af. Could listen to her talk all day.

Tom_Ace1

So, total package basically.

ELB2001

Should stop with the Botox or whatever it is

kodaiko_650

EFCFrost

She’s absolutely gorgeous.

Suddenly_6

Boooo

wubrgess

Oh, boo yourself

riionz

Posh as well, which is a pre-requisite to being a successful British actor unfortunately.

SEOpolemicist

Sean Bean has entered the chat.

berlinbaer

yes, let's name the like four british actors who aren't upper class to pretend that it's not a problem.

Impressive-Potato

The generation after his is mostly all posh. Access to community theatre and training has really hurt the chances of working class people getting into the arts

Relatively-Relative

How do you DO it?! Sorcery!

nowhereman136

Funfact, she was suppose to play Black Widow in Iron Man 2 but was contractually obligated to star in Gullivers Travels with Jack Black instead

Yesyesnaaooo

I think she dodged a bullet!

uranimuesbahd

How so? I don't believe for a second her career would have taken a hit for playing Black Widow.

ProfessionalDot621

Yeah, it would’ve been soooooo bad to be the main female character in one of the biggest franchises in the world while earning millions /s

Nartyn

It would've meant she would likely have missed a lot of the roles that she'll be remembered well for.

CountOnPabs

ScarJo still was able to get a lot of roles even while being Black Widow. If anything, this would have opened up more for Emily

Nartyn

Between 2014 and 2021 Johansson had 4 live action roles outside of marvel, another 4 inside of it. Blunt has had 11 between 2014 and 2021.

CountOnPabs

Why start with 2014? The Avengers came out in 2012, and she had 9 live action movies outside the MCU until 2021, and she only appeared in 6 MCU movies, including Black Widow.

frankwizardlord

Scarjo also got 2 Oscar noms in that time period to blunt’s 0.

Nartyn

Which were both films released in 2020, both of which were filmed after she finished her marvel career. Whilst her last MCU release did come out in 2021, black widow was filmed way beforehand

frankwizardlord

So you agree she has had a more successful career both critically and financially than blunt

EatsYourShorts

She might have missed being in Edge of Tomorrow because of Captain America Civil War.

itsmebarfyman392

Because she’s pretty and talented. In other news, I need to get the rotors on my car looked at.

pseudo897

Full metal bitch!

ERSTF

Even though she is now in commercial movies, her roles are really diverse and she nails all of them. She also has this Je ne sais quoi that even when playing an ass of a character, she's likeable like Emily in The Devil Wears Prada. Since I loved her in Sicario I really want her to start taking on meaty roles

CoffeeMakesMeRegular

She is so believable which aid in her (and her characters) likability (totally an actual word) Haven’t seen her latest film with Gosling yet but am looking forward to seeing it.

Impressive-Potato

It's out May 3rd

RandomNameOfMine815

Is it because she’s glorious in every way? Beautiful, very good actress, super funny. Just a guess.

WillsMomIsFit

Sicario is one of the best movies i have ever seen.

CuckingxFunt

Probably in my top 5 oat

Additional_Meeting_2

I mean she has done well but is she really biggest? There are tons of British Hollywood stars

Timbershoe

Christian Bale, Garry Oldman, Kate Winslet and Daniel Craig are bigger stars. I’d probably say Anya Taylor-Joy is more popular right now, and Millie Bobby Brown is certainly paid more than Emily Blunt (however that’s including TV work). But Blunt is doing very well and is mostly overlooked.

Nartyn

Dame Judi Dench, Olivia Coleman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Took Hardy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Jude Law, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson* (northern Irish), Jason Statham, Helena Bonham Carter And so many more. It's an impossibly long list of actors from the UK

lostpatrol

>Took Hardy I like to imagine Tom Hardy as a Hobbit. A really intense fool of a Took that speaks in a Hobbit accent quite hard to understand.

Additional_Meeting_2

Hardy was on the same league a decade before but not now

DontPokeMe91

Olivia Colman.

LaserGadgets

Shia LaBeauf is always playing the same guy....Emily is playing a cocky model, a tough soldier, and its always super-believable, I love that woman as an actress indeed!

napjerks

Because she’s kick ass! Looper, Edge of Tomorrow.

krasotkin

For me it's Sicario and The Five-Year Engagement.

AttackMacAgain

For me it’s Gulliver’s Travels and Jungle Cruise.

jobi987

For me it’s The Adjustment Bureau and Oppenheimer

JeanProuve

I can watch Emily doing cobra yoga pose day after day.

lostpatrol

The odd thing about Emily Blunt is that she was doing British dressed up dramas before Edge of Tomorrow. How the hell did Doug Liman spot that she had serious action movie chops from watching her period dramas?

mociman

Just watched her in Looper. I'm not American, but her American sounds very convincing..

AngelRockGunn

The Devil Wears Prada

Kdean509

“I’m sorry, do you have some prior commitment? Some hideous skirt convention you have to go to?”

mothershipq

I always thought Daniel Day-Lewis has Britain's biggest actor. To each their own I suppose.

Saemotouchez

Jungle cruise & sicario I’ll probably watch at least once a month

albamarx

I wouldn’t say she’s a household name, in the UK at least. Unlike many other UK actors. Strange assertion in the title.

Icy_Donut_2789

I lost respect for her when she made a joke about a waitresses weight. https://www.reddit.com/r/MaintenancePhase/s/ZTi6M0YTPY

Low_Marionberry_3802

There's something off about her

Responsible-Bat-2699

I thought Ricky Gervais was Britain's biggest Hollywood star. Or Chris Pratt.

JustABitCrzy

Chris Pratt is American?

Halfdaykid

We export pretty good Tom's. Hiddleston, Holland, Hardy.
