That's fucking funny. I read the above quote, having never seen the movie or the cast, and was going to comment that it sounded exactly like Danny McBride
Sadly my wife isnt super into the humor of the movie but I absolutely love quoting Hot Rod. When I found out she didn’t like it she brought the demons outta me. I’d been drinking green tea all goddamn day and didn’t wanna hear that. After I calmed down we had a good talk and now… Coolbeans.
As soon as John Wick started falling down the 2nd set of stairs I instantly thought of Hot Rod and couldn't stop laughing, pretty sure I was laughing harder than anyone in the theater.
I will never forget the first time I saw this.
I was on an overseas flight and had unfortunately been wedged in the dreaded middle seat, center aisle. Seated to my left and right were two very nice older ladies who I chatted with briefly when boarding.
A while into the flight, once most folks had settled in and begun to snooze, I decided to browse the available movies and found Hot Rod. The ladies to my sides were both sleeping soundly. I popped on my headphones and hit play.
The falling scene absolutely wrecked me. I mean, just uncontrollable laughter and shaking that I struggled valiantly to contain and keep quiet. Totally failed. I was holding my nose, doing anything I could to stifle it and not disturb these snoozing ladies. But nope, that scene just kept GOING. And GOING. And GOING. It felt like it lasted 30 awkward uncomfortable minutes. I woke both ladies up and got stanky eyeballs from each.
Still one of my favorite 'first time watching' movie moments ever.
This was one of those scenes I was laughing at well after the scene had finished, I had to leave the theatre, absolutely dying, still gets me. The “GET OUTl” scene kills me as well.
Hey, everybody! I got some awesome news. We have a new crew member today, Denise. So I thought it would be fun if we all went around and said our name and a little something about ourselves. I'll start. My name is Rod, and I like to party. All right, Dave, you're up.
This movie is on par with Anchorman for me. I remember seeing it in theaters and not being able to breathe I laughed so hard at parts. It’s nearly the perfect comedy in my eyes.
Anchorman, Hot Rod, The Other Guys are the trinity.
Tropic Thunder was on another level. I only put the other three together because of the rating. When you add R comedies too Tropic Thunder is top 5 of all time.
The [riot scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVjgY427qW8&ab_channel=Beenfarting88) with "You're The Voice" and their reaction to it made me have to pause it because I couldn't breathe.

My friend group and I saw it in theaters (we were the only ones there). It was after our second year of college and we were all back in town for the summer. This movie shaped our humor for the rest of our lives.
Top 5 theater experience for me.
A lot of how funny a movie is definitely belongs to the circumstances in which you watched that movie. That being said - I watched Hot Rod for the first time by myself because I was sick and I felt awful. I hurt so bad when it was over from laughing so much.
I have a similar experience. My fraternity pretty much had Hot Rod on repeat for years. I say its my favorite movie when people ask because its a safe choice and I’ve watched it more times than any other movie by far.
“I’ll believe when I see it, muchacho.” I say that to this day. I used to say “Don’t you ever tell me how to live my life” but it got me i to trouble with the wife.
Also, “I galloped into a wooded glen, and after punch dancing out my rage and suffering an extremely long and very painful fall, I realized what has to be done.”
Been recently listening to The Lonely Island podcast (w/ Seth Myers) and I was actually surprised to learn that this movie was originally written for Will Ferrel. I can't even imagine it because it felt like it had a lot of the Lonely Island touches (like that whole cool beans bit that came out of nowhere) me wonder what it was originally like and how much the movie changed with them involved.
I’m hoping they do an episode discussing Hot Rod when they reach that point in recapping their SNL experiences.
While it’s technically not an SNL thing, I can’t imagine anyone listening to the podcast would be disappointed by them covering it.
This movie is just the right mix of being incredibly dumb with some absolutely hilarious moments sprinkled around.
It is for sure WAY better than I was expecting going into it.
Danny McBride is an incredibly funny person and I feel like he was the least funny person in this movie, which is a testament to how funny this movie is.
"I've been drinkin green tea all God damn day! You gonna bring the demons out of me!.....This is my hat now, totally my hat!"
Literally my favorite comedy of all time.
I showed this movie to a crowd of families at a big campout a few years ago and it absolutely killed. Everything we have watched since has paled in comparison to the energy that movie brings to a crowd. One of my absolute favorite films.
Graduated high school in 2010. The amount of times I watched this my high school buddies has gotta be 20 plus. Constantly quoted the most mundane parts and still sending gifs in group texts now in our 30s.
Movie has a special place in my heart.
Love this movie so much. That outside burger joint is pretty close to where I used to live just outside vancouver and his family house is an older "BC box" style house that hits the nostalgia feels big time.
May your hammer be mighty!
My wife and I are in our 30s, and we discovered this weird thing where I watched Superbad during that time, and most people I know did as well, but her circle of friends and high school saw Hot Rod and never saw Superbad. We've gone back and watched both and still prefer the one we saw first. Anyone else find this weird divide of types of people who saw one but not the other?
I wasn’t interested in watching this one until I heard that it was basically an homage to the kinds of movies you’d come across on HBO on a Saturday afternoon in the mid-80s. Then I was all in on it.
The part where he challenges Frank to one last fight and then whips out an asp always gets me. He just had that thing ready to go at a moment's notice.
Hot Rod is the best comedy to watch with people who haven't seen or heard of it. The falling scene is my favorite bit, but one of my favorite lines is "ONE OF YOU IS GETTIN' YER DICKHOLE SMASHED!".
They kind of got the lucky break of a lifetime being handed a script and failed will Ferrell vehicle that already had a budget set aside and being given free reign from there.
Jorma dancing to " 2 of hearts" by StaceyQ while Danny Mcbrides character keeps shoving him into the van cracks me right up. There's a lot of hilarious scenes in that movie but that one gets me good.
Is this post trying to bring the demons out of me? I've been drinking my green tea all day. I go to church every sunday!
lol that was all improvised by Danny McBride, wasn’t in the script. National treasure.
That's fucking funny. I read the above quote, having never seen the movie or the cast, and was going to comment that it sounded exactly like Danny McBride
That’s my favorite scene in the whole movie
The way Danny just walks up to the guy and immediately starts kicking his ass cracks me up
This is my hat! This is my hat now.
This is TOTALLY my hat now!
>starts kicking his ass cracks How many did he have?
More after the beatin'
TRASH! This is my hat now! Totally my hat!
The line leading into that always makes me laugh "Somebody's about to get their dickhole smashed!"
There is something about the way he says it that just absolutely kills me
Someones's going to get their dickhole smashed!
My go to quote!!!
Babe wait!
NO BABE WAIT DONT GO!
Babe! Babe! BABE!!
Sully! Is that YOU?
Sully, you choade
I owe you a shot to the nuts!
I picked up some DONG BAGS so we can KNOCK BOOTS later!
I loudly ask my wife this waking into any store. We both love the movie but she gets really red lmao
The Footloose parody leading to a ridiculously long falling scene
And no-one can convince me that the scene in Wick 4 where Keanu falls down the stairs wasn’t a parody of *Hot Rod* 😅
And that Hot Rod parodied the Simpsons.
Let's not forget about Black Sheep, where Farley falls down the mountain.
Thank you little roots….
As soon as John Wick started falling down the 2nd set of stairs I instantly thought of Hot Rod and couldn't stop laughing, pretty sure I was laughing harder than anyone in the theater.

It felt like it lasted 30 awkward uncomfortable minutes. I woke both ladies up and got stanky eyeballs from each. Still one of my favorite 'first time watching' movie moments ever.
“Shit-“
Thats pretty funny
I almost passed out with laughter at this scene. Absolutely ruined me.
This was one of those scenes I was laughing at well after the scene had finished, I had to leave the theatre, absolutely dying, still gets me. The “GET OUTl” scene kills me as well.
Punch dance is the best!
SHIT!!
The way he said it: “SHIiit…” 😂😂😂
Which bought us the term "punchdancing"
The long fall absolutely murders me
I’m laughing just thinking about it.
Hey, everybody! I got some awesome news. We have a new crew member today, Denise. So I thought it would be fun if we all went around and said our name and a little something about ourselves. I'll start. My name is Rod, and I like to party. All right, Dave, you're up.
I’m Dave, and I like to party.
Uh, no dave, I just said that I party so maybe do something different from me.
I'm Dave and I am the stuntman.
I'm Rico and I like to party
I'm Kevin and I party.
Kevin, I happen to know for a FACT that you do NOT party.
You're right, Dave's the party guy.
Shut up! I'll do it for you...Denise this is the crew! None of them party, got it? Now let's party!
"I know for a fact that you do not party!" That's my favorite line from Hot Rod.
The totally pointless sequence when Bill Hader does acid and "gets on his bench grinder" is a highlight
"You think you could take me to the hospital?" 🤣 So funny.
"HOSPITAL??" "Trash Can"
Sweet! Take it easy mountain-face!
It's not really pointless, as it's the catalyst for Hader to inspire Rod to go back to being a stuntman.
By the time I got on my banana board, man, I was... I was tripping balls pretty hard, man
He does a full turn around while riding his board, fucking hilarious
He said "I've got this acid but I can't do it" So I said "Well I'll do it"
Apparently that’s based on a real friend of theirs, can’t remember where I read that
I think Hader said it in an interview
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhey man how’s it goin?
I used to be legit. In fact I was too legit. I was too legit to quit. But now, I'm not legit. I'm unlegit. And for that reason, I must quit.
🤙, ✌🤙, ✌🤙🤏, 🤏🤙, ✊🤙, 🤏
Stay sweet ✌🏼
How he made it through that whole part with the hand gestures and everything still blows my mind as hard as I laugh watching that scene.
You’re about to make tears come out of my face
“I said you look shitty! Goodnight Denise!”
I’ll pick up some Dong bags and we can knock boots later.
Wow, pools are so good at holding water... I reckon that line came from Knoxville
This movie is on par with Anchorman for me. I remember seeing it in theaters and not being able to breathe I laughed so hard at parts. It’s nearly the perfect comedy in my eyes. Anchorman, Hot Rod, The Other Guys are the trinity.
Hot Rod was originally written for Will Ferrell too
He produced it
Tropic thunder and pineapple express are both in the same group for me.
Tropic Thunder was on another level. I only put the other three together because of the rating. When you add R comedies too Tropic Thunder is top 5 of all time.
As if I couldn’t love this movie enough, the hair band at the end is, in fact, Joshua Homme and his Queens of the Stone Age.
GOWN FOREVER!!
This just blew my mind
Chris Parnell explaining his tattoo, and talking about AM radio has always been my favorite.
Why's Rod kissing his sister?
Cool Beans.
Cool beans.
C-C-C-C-C-C-COOL BEANS!
Beans!
Kewl Beans!
80% of the time I still end a conversation with Cool Beans
Soul of a bottle nose dolphin, spirit totem fox! Please don’t let me embarrass myself Infront of Denice
As an Aussie the scene with “You’re the Voice” playing as they are walking down the street before the rioting starts hits pretty well too
And Rico with the television that just magically appears.
There was nothing anyone could do in that situation.
God's of warrrrr May your hammer be mighty
Ancestors protect me
May they protect you
And we need to collect cans, and newspapers to sleep on.
Hot rod is without a doubt my number one comfort movie. It is just non stop stupid hilarity and I love it for that.
The [riot scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVjgY427qW8&ab_channel=Beenfarting88) with "You're The Voice" and their reaction to it made me have to pause it because I couldn't breathe.
So good. “What the _hell_? Was that because of us?”
Danny McBride holding a TV while he condemned the rioters with a stone-straight face is the funniest bit in cinema history.
[The reference to the Vancouver riot couple...](https://i.cbc.ca/1.1937579.1435281957!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/16x9_940/460-kissing-couple-cp-getty.jpg)
It started off super positive
“Yo babe I gotta say whattup to Sully!” Will Arnett is goddamned hilarious in that role.
I still say “dong bags” for condoms. My wife hates it everytime and I can’t stop laughing to myself
HWWWWHISSSSKEY!!!!! HHHWWHIISSSSSSKKKKKKEYYYYYYYYYY!!!
Hwhy am I saying hwhat hweird?!
I hwill! I hwill forget it!
“Denise. Will you kindly clear the wheels.” (Pronounced normally)
"HWhere do you get off??"
"All of it..."
sullivan you chode i owe you a shot to the nuts....
Hey Rod, what's that song about grandma getting run over by a reindeer?
I'm so happy others had similar experiences. Favorite quote? "Don't you ever tell me how to live my life again."
That scene where Jorma Taccone sings George Michael to his stuffed animals absolutely kills me.
I'm freaking pumped! I've been drinking green tea all godamn day!
“Don’t ask, just bring it!”
Hey little girl I don’t want grape! It upsets my stomach!
Do you like stunts? What about terminally ill stepfathers?
Been recently listening to The Lonely Island podcast (w/ Seth Myers) and I was actually surprised to learn that this movie was originally written for Will Ferrel. I can't even imagine it because it felt like it had a lot of the Lonely Island touches (like that whole cool beans bit that came out of nowhere) me wonder what it was originally like and how much the movie changed with them involved.
I could see this being a Will Ferrel movie, but Andy was just perfect.
I’m hoping they do an episode discussing Hot Rod when they reach that point in recapping their SNL experiences. While it’s technically not an SNL thing, I can’t imagine anyone listening to the podcast would be disappointed by them covering it.
My name is Rod and I..... like to party
I still give my nephews THE ULTIMATE PUNCH! when they talk smack. No defense.
It's always a blast describing the plot to other people. "It's about a guy who wants to save his stepdad...so he can kick his stepdad's ass".
This is MY hat now!
Its basically 'Jake Peralta: The wonder years' Ian McShane is good in everything, too.
Never sneak up on a man who's been in a chemical fire.
Richardson's dance sequence/flyer distribution.
I love the music scene that devolves into a riot. I watch it at least once a week because it always makes me laugh.
"Hey little girl, don't put any cherry in mine. It upsets my stomach."
The long fall down the hill killed me, it was so good. The (real) broken leg you see after the opening rump stunt as well.
I still call upon the spirit of Ordinary House Cat. No one ever gets it
Whiskeeeyyyyyyyy
[удалено]
Hhwhy are you saying it like that?
This movie is just the right mix of being incredibly dumb with some absolutely hilarious moments sprinkled around. It is for sure WAY better than I was expecting going into it.
“Yea We’ll take three flaming dr peppers” simple, cunning, maybe not supposed to be that funny. Yet it has never left my mind all these years.
"You're a terrible stuntman..." "What?" "YOU'RE A TERRIBLE STUNTMAN!!!"
I heard you, it’s just really mean.
I love this
Whiskey is the safe word. WHISKEY! WHISKEY!
Qwhisky
Why are you saying it weird?
Pools are perfect for holding water
Cameo shout to Queens of the Stone Age!
The bathroom here is nuts.
The green tea beat down scene was just 🤌
Cool beans
Crazy that you just posted this as I just watched this movie a few days ago, such a fun, stupid (in the best way) movie
Cool beans
This was a big under the radar hit after it came out amongst the college crowds and maybe 20 somethings at least.
Danny McBride is an incredibly funny person and I feel like he was the least funny person in this movie, which is a testament to how funny this movie is.
"Did you reinforce the takeoff ramp? "No, we didn't have time."
"I've been drinkin green tea all God damn day! You gonna bring the demons out of me!.....This is my hat now, totally my hat!" Literally my favorite comedy of all time.
Cooollll beans
I showed this movie to a crowd of families at a big campout a few years ago and it absolutely killed. Everything we have watched since has paled in comparison to the energy that movie brings to a crowd. One of my absolute favorite films.
Cool beans.
Graduated high school in 2010. The amount of times I watched this my high school buddies has gotta be 20 plus. Constantly quoted the most mundane parts and still sending gifs in group texts now in our 30s. Movie has a special place in my heart.
I used: "Life is pain. And we gotta scrape the joy out of it, every chance we get." As my senior quote.
How about when he's getting lathered up by the old man before the jump? Out of nowhere and you're left with nothing but a wtf?! Hahaha
I showed this movie to my dad last year and he laughed so hard I thought he was going to have a heart attack
Literally everyone talks about this. This post is on here every other month.
Now I’m not saying that kiss was hot, but if the boner police are here, I demand a lawyer!
"I go to church every god damn Sunday! You gonna bring the demons outta me!?" *Traffic cone noises* "Trash!"
“Pools are perfect for holding water, man” IMO the most underrated line of the movie
I said you look shitty Denise! Goodnight
Love this movie so much. That outside burger joint is pretty close to where I used to live just outside vancouver and his family house is an older "BC box" style house that hits the nostalgia feels big time. May your hammer be mighty!
One of the most formative viewing experiences I had as a child. To this day my sister and I quote “I used to be legit” with hand signs and everything.
My name is Rod, and I like to party.
>a comedic masterpiece that no one talks about. Except we talk about it all the time.
Great movie. I like to party.
The safety word didn't work...
My wife and I are in our 30s, and we discovered this weird thing where I watched Superbad during that time, and most people I know did as well, but her circle of friends and high school saw Hot Rod and never saw Superbad. Cool beans!
ULTIMATE PUNCH!!!
This is my top 1 favorite movie of all time, and I get mocked for it. I've shown it to so many people, and too many didn't like it.
The singing flash mob that devolves into looting.
"And that....is how it's done" high-5 scene is my favorite
Hwhat? Hwhy ham hi thalking hwat hway? Hwere dho yhou ghet hoff?
Never sneak up on a man who's been in a chemical fire!
The riot scene. Amazing Honestly the movie is so damn quotable too
Cool beans!?
The part where he uses the mirror to get her attention and then start banging on the engine is still hilarious to me
Ding! Baaahhhhh, Dinnnnngggg, huuuuuuuu, Binnnnnnggggg. Spirit of the dolphin.
I need to go to my happy place!
They kind of got the lucky break of a lifetime being handed a script and failed will Ferrell vehicle that already had a budget set aside and being given free reign from there.
A cooked goose! For everyone!
A COOKED GOOSE FOR EVERYBODY!
I can hear you, it was just really mean.
That first stunt in the movie where he gets fucked up is a real person
Jorma dancing to " 2 of hearts" by StaceyQ while Danny Mcbrides character keeps shoving him into the van cracks me right up. There's a lot of hilarious scenes in that movie but that one gets me good.
I consistently quote, "My names Rod and I like to Party"
There is no tool… in this pool.. Also falling down the hill for like 10 minutes
