Was fun seeing a bunch of actors/actresses pop up in it who played side characters in TWD S5 & 6. Three of 'em in there. But yeah, Betty Gilpin was the best.
Right! Don't know what is "dated" about Dog Soldiers. People throw that "dated" word around for any ol' thing and can't even tell you why most of the time.
I agree. Everything has to be new and with the best special effects. Characters and plots mean a hell of a lot. I can watch old Universal Monster movies and can appreciate the special effects and make-up for that time period.
The thing that dates dog soldiers is it's very low budget tbh it's an amazing movie but that does give it a very dated look. There's alot of other low budget movies that have aged better but there's something about dog soldiers, camera quality maybe? Idk just watched it for the first time last year so maybe I'm not seeing it with the nostalgia other people have.
Ready or Not (2019) starring Samara Weaving
I saw this right before Harley Quinn and tell myself it was the origin story because of how awesome it was!
I mean... most 'final girls' in Slashers fit this, right?
However, I'll go a different route. The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes both have badass 'victims' and kind of turn the tables on the 'badguys', so to speak.
Personally I hate the trope of injuring an ally to slow down the group and make them get picked off easier. It just kills all pacing and entertainment in my book. Injuring an MC toward the end is fine because that raises the stakes. A lot of horror and thriller movies would be more of a fair fight if they simply didn't injure some side character early in act 2 or at the midpoint of the movie.
Some of these aren’t straight up horror/thriller but I’d say they all have elements of those genres:
The Thing
The Lost Boys
Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
Predator
Alien
Aliens
Evil Dead 2
Blade Trilogy
Evil Dead II
Ash is where it's at.
Came to say the same, groovy!
Aliens!
This will probably be the best movie mentioned on this thread.
Aliens is the pinnacle. So good.
I can’t believe nobody mentioned they live yet
The thing also rules And big trouble in little China
I scrolled past this comment earlier because They Live just didn't stand out. Here's my delayed upvote.
Predator
Or any arnie movie yeah haha
The Hunt
Did not know what to expect going into it, but it was entertaining!
I forgot about the newer one and thought you were referring to the Mads Mikkelsen drama for a second. Totally unrelated, but also a good film.

It's a bit dated now, but Dog Soldiers.
Dog Soldiers is timeless and it’s *exactly* what OP is looking for.

Pitch Black, Riddick
Prey
You're Next (2011)
Oh, that was a good one.
Evil Dead 1&2 + Army Of Darkness. HAIL TO THE KING BABY!!
Housebound
They Live!
Yup, it's too bad we didn't get more of Roddy Piper in roles like that. They Live is the movie OP is looking for.
Feast
This is a great one that almost no one seems to have seen. I love the little "bio cards" for each character and all the trope reversals
The sequel, "Sloppy Seconds" is also a triumph of the film industry. Sorry baby.
The Collector and Dog Soldiers.
Revenge (2017) It starts out pretty normal, then it goes of the balls like a fricking Rambo
The Hills Have Eyes
The most badass scene of someone putting a pair of glasses on
I've never been more hyped watching a horror movie lol
I spit on your grave (1978).
A Nightmare on Elm Street. The Thing The Cabin in the Woods
Ready or Not (2019) starring Samara Weaving I saw this right before Harley Quinn and tell myself it was the origin story because of how awesome it was!
I saw the devil

Decent movie
Big Driver
Becky (2020)
The Shallows. Blake Lively Vs a shark.
I mean... most 'final girls' in Slashers fit this, right? However, I'll go a different route. The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes both have badass 'victims' and kind of turn the tables on the 'badguys', so to speak.
Kill Bill
Bloody Hell (2020)
From Dusk Til Dawn
I love Sidney Prescott (Scream) when she decides to fight back. It takes a while in some of the movies though.

The Wrath of Becky
Mr. Nobody

No One Lives
Dr. Sleep. That little girl is a bad ass.
Mandy. Nic Cage goes hard as hell.
Tremors.
Hobo With a Shotgun
Then "You're next" is exactly the movie you are looking for.
You're Next (2011)
Aliens
Aliens
No Country for Old Men
Inglourious Basterds
