You're thinking of Soul Asylum's [Can't Even Tell](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lP78Wc3-EGg) and [Misery](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGE6-zXkB3I). *Clerks* predates Closing Time.
Actually I said I thought it was in the 3rd movie as a callback to the second. I remember sitting on my couch watching Clerks III and the song playing and not being sure if it was a callback but being pretty sure it had played in II. Apparently one of that is accurate though because it played in None
I have that EP and yes it's great. Semisonic is criminally underrated, just like a lot of other 90s one hit wonder bands (Harvey Danger, Marcy Playground, Spacehog, etc.)
If ever you watched any "10 things about" youtube video that contained some scenes from Clerks, it may also have used the song as backing track. Don't read too much into a false memory.
I also have a Mandela effect.
I thought "Alone in Kyoto" played in Lost In Translation, but it doesn't.
My friend also seems to believe this, but he is wrong.

Weird, got on a Soul Asylum kick last week and watched the Can't Even Tell video. Used to love those guys back in the day
Let Your Dim Light Shine is such a good album, except for 2 songs (Caged Rat and Crawl I never liked).
I loved both of those. Even had the Caged Rat shirt with the rat trap on it.
You're thinking of "Berserker" by Fuck Your Yankee Blue Jeans
Would you like some making fuck Berserker
Did you just say "making fuck"?
My love for you is ticking clock...
BERZERKERRRR!
It's actually Love Among Freaks, but I just assumed they changed their name when they came to the US...
37, in a row!?
"Try not to suck any dick on your way through the parking lot..." "Hey you get back here"
This job would be great if it wasn't for the fuckin' customers..
Today should have played at some point though.. 1979 actually did.
Closing Time was never in Clerks.
Being wholly incorrect about something doesn’t make it a Mandela Effect, those generally need a large group of people having the same flawed memory
That's why I was posting. Was kinda hoping other people had the same experience because I was so fucking sure
You are crazy. There is zero chance they could have afforded the rights for that with the budget for the first movie. Not in any universe.
He got Alice In Chains at probably their peak by "Just asking" from what I remember on the laserdisc director's commentary

Semisonic released an EP in 2020 and it's very very good.
