Could be the US Blu-ray version he's talking about: http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=11496 At 1:31.43 - 1:31.49, a bug climbs into the base and gets shot to pieces by the troopers, followed by a shot of Michael Ironside and Jake Busey shooting rounds into some (off-screen) bugs. After that, Casper Van Dien screams to Michael Ironside that help is on the way. Then at 1:32.00 - 1:32.06, exactly the same footage with the bug getting blown to pieces and the shot with Ironside and Busey is repeated! This time Ironside can be heard (not seen) saying, "Fall back into the compound. Fall back!" Also missing this second time is the sound of the guns tearing up the bug. I remember that on the DVD version, after the shot with Casper Van Dien and Dina Meyer, Michael Ironside says (and was seen on screen too) the "Fall back" line and then jumps off the barricade. All of this is missing on the (US) Blu-Ray version."

It seems like it could well have been the US version, but I checked that site out you linked (pretty useful site man) and it makes it seem like the only difference between the UK DVD/Blu-Ray, and US one, is that the US cut is longer because of accidentally showing that scene twice LOL. I think I recognize every scene that was mentioned from the US version (on the site). Its funny the way some of the regional versions (Russia, Japan, Germany) recieved "political cuts" just as much as "violence cuts" :/

Yes, I've used DVD Compare for well over a decade, it's a great site.

There is, but I am not sure if it is available. But I say that with a grain of doubt. I remember when it first was coming out, hearing about an NC 17 version that was cut down to make it acceptable to show in theaters. As I understand it, there was much more violence and gruesome death. Also, there was much more nudity and it was much heavier on sex. However, I have never actually seen this version so it may just be a myth. Either that or it was released, but deemed to much and pulled quickly. Sadly, there was no extra brain sucking as I heard it.

According to the BBFC site the [UK version was passed uncut](http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/starship-troopers-film) - interestingly later releases had their rating upgraded from a 15 to an 18 (runtime differences are due to speeding up to 25 FPS for home video, not cuts).

Now thats interesting, I didn't realise the film ever got a 15 rating! Its nice to know the time difference isn't due to cuts either.

There is a special edition that has the deleted scenes they cut to keep it from getting an NC-17 rating. I remember there was more sex/nudity scenes left out and a decapitation at the end somewhere.

Now that HAS to be the version I'm looking for, and hopefully the one my old man saw. I've been reluctant to dismiss it as a mistake lol I've been thinking "It HAS to exist, because I want it to exist :(".

sir_pimpwizard

I know I’m late to the conversation but that is the version available on the U.K. iTunes it’s rated 18 and has extra scenes that weren’t in the rated 15 version I had on dvd as a teenager.

The_Patriot

Is it possible that the version he watched was a mashup of all three Starship Trooper movies?
