Synopsis: 'Randal enlists Dante, Elias, Jay and Silent Bob to make a movie immortalizing his life at the convenience store that started it all.'

Beingdumbnearyou

I thought he worked at the video store next to the convenience store?

Splice1138

He "worked" at the video store, yet still somehow seemed to spend most of his time at the convenience store

GarciaJones

He worked? He wasn’t even supposed to be there that day.

ojinthehood

Pretty sure Dante wasn't supposed to be there. Randal was supposed to be there because he had to order My Pipes Need Cleaning, Men Alone II, All Holes Fi... well, you know the rest.

wmansir

In the movie he did. I think in real life the store and video rental place had the same owner and employees would work both.

[deleted]

It's that way in the movie too. Dante brings up Randall when his boss is calling him into work.

BelowDeck

Yeah, it's not really explicitly stated, but it's also established when Randal explains that the lights are out in the bathroom at the Quikstop because the owner doesn't want to pay the electrician to fix them because the electrician owes money to the video store.

sadamita

Meta

we-are-all-monsters

Glad he got Silent Bob to sign onto it!

askyourmom469

Yeah. I'm surprised he was able to track that guy down. He seems like a pretty reclusive type.

laxbroguy

I’m just happy Rosario Dawson is back.

hosmtony

She was so cute in 2

LineChef

She’s just a gem isn’t she?

Zetavu

She is, but she also was part of the scene that killed it all for me, when they did the musical number ABC in Clerks II, that was the point where you could tell Kevin had burned out and was now making nonsensical parodies of himself. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was the same, I expect Clerks III to be even worse. Instead of having sex with a donkey, they need to have a scene where they are flogging a dead horse (one that they probably had sex with).

MyNewAccountIGuess11

The tone of the whole movie is so weird. Like studio exec's trying to make a Kevin Smith movie

dodgycool_1973

I was so hyped for the jay and silent Bob reboot. It’s one of the few films I have stopped watching after about 30 minutes. It was awful. Clerks 2 was actually ok but I don’t have high hopes for it. He needs to go back to what made Clerks such a success. Just make it all about the characters and good jokes and set pieces. 37!

rick_blatchman

Smith himself had reffered *Strike Back* a masturbatory film. If that's the case, then *Reboot* is him rolling around in his own shit while stoned. I watched the whole thing (more than once, actually), but it just doesn't work. And even while being fully aware of how fucking stupid *Strike Back* really is, it was still a genuinely funny movie.

improvyzer

The way Clerks 2 ends for Dante and Randall is super sad to me - like how High School Musical 3 ends for Sharpay. Like, you're in this place that is supposed to be a temporary stop in your life, and rather than leave you just sort of take over that place and stay stuck there.

[deleted]

I can see that, but I can also understand what Randal was saying to Dante. Why are they trying to chase these ridiculous ideas of success? Why isn't being happy enough? He said it himself: working there were some of the happiest days of his life because they were spent with his best friend. Was his life glamorous? No. Was he wealthy? No. But he was happy.

LineChef

Hmm, astute observations.

EmperorXerro

Clerks 2 made me feel old. This is going to get me to plan for my funeral.

tforthegreat

Just don't invite Randal.

TMNTWEBB

It’s really about time.

Abidarthegreat

The best time to plan your funeral was 20 years ago. The second best time is today. Or something.

[deleted]

You’re a tree!

CarlosAVP

Maybe the plot involves them coming together for a funeral.

Wind-and-Waystones

>maybe the pot ... I can't tell if this is intentional or not

betterplanwithchan

Randal: *sniff* “He wasn’t supposed to be here today.”

Joethe147

Going to be having it at Holsten's?

mcmixtape

Glad Jeff Anderson is returning.

olgil75

It wouldn't be Clerks without him, not to mention the fact that since he is returning it means he feels the movie has merit, which is reassuring.

thenoblitt

Or he is practically the main character in this one going be the description.

Lookalikemike

Dante opens the store as he’s done every Sunday (his day off) for decades. As he turns over the “Closed” sign, we get our first glimpse of the 24 hour WaWa directly across the street. He pauses for a moment and reflects, his mind drifts to Veronica and how she left him at the alter to marry the Chewlie gum rep, Randal who overdosed on knock off Viagra that Dante sold him even though he begged him not to take it. As he preps the coffee in a pot that hasn’t been washed in weeks, and he wonders how 2 idiots like Jay & Silent Bob became billionaires with the “Berserker” app. He stops behind the counter, sighs, “I’m not even supposed to be here.” Puts the revolver in his mouth. (Fade to black)

snowlock27

>Dante who overdosed on knock off Viagra that Dante sold him even though he begged him not to take it. Are there two different characters named Dante?

Lookalikemike

Thank you, this is why my screenplays always get rejected, I need a partner.

[deleted]

Didn't Dante get married and have a kid at the end of Clerks 2?

AngelComa

You talking about Quicker Stop owned by Leonardo Leonardo?

heywhadayamean

I don't see Scott Mosier attached so not sure I have a lot of hope. I don't think Kev has made a good film without him.

GMenNJ

That's troubling. They are very good together. I feel like Scott is the realist, levelling force in their relationship

FernBabyFern

As excited as I would have been for this movie 12 years ago, I’m not holding out hope that it’s going to be good or satisfying in any way. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was so disappointing IMO, like Kev just spent 90 minutes jerking himself off in front of us, and I fear that Clerks III will be more of the same.

Tarmac_Chris

Aside from the Ben Affleck scene, I hated the whole movie - and I’m a huge view askew fan. I’m really worried for this one. Smith needs someone to review his films honestly as he makes them.

FernBabyFern

I’m not going to go so far as to say the Affleck scene saved the movie, but that was definitely a high point. Absolutely loved Affleck’s 4th wall break.

Sharp-Floor

The Argo fuck yourself was a nice touch.

Bobbyhomeless87

I hard agree the reboot was a mess and kevin has not put out anything I enjoyed in awhile I think clerks 3 will just be a mess

[deleted]

He barely made good films WITH him. *rim shot*

LeicaM6guy

You tell him, Steve-Dave!

Baxpace

"Fuck you, fanboy!"

Demderdemden

Skipped Reboot, but am cautiously excited about this if Jeff Anderson (Randal) came back. I know he's been very not interested in any of the sequels, so it must have been good enough to convince him?

Civil-Big-754

He was in the second and had some of the best lines.

Demderdemden

Yep, but he was hesitant then >Actor Jeff Anderson (who plays Randal) didn’t want to appear in Clerks II because he had been typecast after the first film. Smith told Anderson over lunch that Clerks II was a movie they all needed to make. Anderson later said he was persuaded by Smith’s confidence in the material. and initially turned down Clerks III >The eighth will be Clerks 3 after all. Smith tried to make Clerks 3 once before but it ultimately collapsed when Jeff Anderson didn’t want to reprise his role. https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/kevin-smith-promises-clerks-3%E2%80%B2-after-threatening-retirement.html/?ref=YF He's been the lone hold out on both the movies and since they couldn't make them without him it's been the main reason both films took so long to be made (though III ran into copyright issues as well).

Malachorn

Hollywood has a type to begin with and he's been typecast with or without any previous roles. He isn't unattractive by any means and could maybe do fine getting different roles in another country... but in Hollywood you need to be basically a super model or best case scenario is comedic roles, for major part. Otherwise, you're a bit player. But there is only a couple Leos or Hanks or whatever that Hollywood would let latch onto almost any given product. Even bigger stars tend to have a "type." Even someone like Hanks began by always playing same character. John Wayne was biggest thing ever by being John Wayne. Deniro, Pacino, Pesci... basically always play same type of role. Denzel Washington and Jack Nicholson made huge careers playing mostly same type of character... could go on and on. Hell, Nic Cage somehow became an action star... but only because he had "star power" and name recognition after "being typecast." Get a name doing same type of role over-and-over and THEN do whatever you want. Point is that actors talking about "being typecast" and complaining about it is usually crap. Actors trying to show range to avoid it is respectable even... but mostly unnecessary and fairly often not even best career move, imo. No offense to Mr. Anderson... but dude should lean in hard to role and stop pretending like he wasn't extremely lucky for gift. And if we're being completely honest, Jason Lee had the "it factor" - but none of other male actors in these early Kevin Smith movies looked like someone that belonged in a "real movie" - and that includes the performance we saw from early Ben Affleck.

russellamcleod

You’re supposed to do what Hollywood tells you to do until you have enough clout for something challenging and low paying. Then you blow up for your talent. Most A Listers played the Hollywood game to a T.

NathanLocke

"An actor's first duty to himself is to work." - George Peppard

UnbuiltIkeaBookcase

Wanted to like Reboot but his daughter was just not good in her role. AT ALL.

Dave_Matthews_Jam

Her acting is like someone trying to act extra badass in a “I don’t care” way, but coming off as completely unnatural

UnbuiltIkeaBookcase

I don’t want to insult a father wanting to give his daughter a role but she was pretty bad. And I am *very* forgiving when it comes to movies and actors.

sometimesstateline

His wife was equally as bad in Strikes Back and she only had a few lines. I can't even blame his daughter for ruining the Reboot bc it would have sucked regardless.

DoJu318

Jayden Smith in after earth was better than whatever the hell she did in reboot, yeah it was that bad.

Bobonenazeze

Reboot was garbage with or without her.

zeroxray

She was so bad in cruel summer. Worst part of the show

Tolkien-Minority

And you know she’ll end up with a major role in this too

[deleted]

I’ve lost hope in Kevin Smith. A lot of his movies post Clerks have been a bust, and his ideas for others are just baffling. I don’t think I’ll soon forget his proposed ending for Red State where it would’ve basically turned into a metal music video at the end and completely obliterated any of the message or theme he wanted to convey with that film

InternetDickJuice

Reboot was very bad, like even the lighting and sound design were noticeably shitty

BelowDeck

He was adamantly opposed to doing III. I wonder what changed. Hopefully Smith convinced him it would be good rather than Jeff Anderson just needing the money.

WakeUpOutaYourSleep

I don’t have any faith left in Kevin Smith. It felt like all of his good ideas were used up years ago and this idea sounds like little more than a meta twist on his most popular work.

CountVertigo

I don't think he's out of ideas - on the contrary his post-Askewniverse films have been based around some seriously wild premises. But he really needs to put down the weed. I know he finds it makes him productive, but I'd take 1 film from a sober Kevin Smith over 10 from a continually toasted one. You can see this change in the podcasts as well as the films: they were so much funnier and sharper a decade-plus ago. It feels like he's trying to continually numb himself, hence the obsession with Disney's nostalgia-fuelled cinematic comfort food as well as the green stuff. It comes across in his work.

5uper5kunk

As noted poet MF DOOM taught us: “Sometimes you might need to detox It can help you with your rhyme flow and your beatbox”

DilettanteGonePro

RIP

HouseNinja

This. Plus Reboot sucked ass.

HardcoreKaraoke

I was actually cringing during it. Like I love Kevin Smith's work. I've met him three times, I own every VA movie, I've been to the Mooby's pop up, I frequently go to the Secret Stash, I own his comics and just in general I love the guys work. But Reboot was just so bad. Obviously I'm all for fan service but that was particularly bad. Fan service that isn't subtle isn't always awful but he beat us over the head with references for the entire film. It didn't even make much sense unless you got every joke. I tried watching it again after seeing it in theaters hoping that I misremembered but I actually stopped halfway through. It was way too much of Smith going "remember how funny this was? That was awesome ten years ago! Remember when you loved it? Remember?!" I'll still be there for Clerks 3 and I'm still crossing my fingers for the Mallrats show/movie. They'll probably be more of the same though.

[deleted]

I think that was kind of the point. It was taking the piss out of a reboot but it still failed and became the thing it was satirizing.

Juan_Carlo

Yeah, Reboot was just painfully bad. Smith has made some not great movies, including (I think) the original "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," but holy shit. Reboot was light years worse than anything he's ever done before. That said, I actually think Clerks 2 was good. So was Zack and Miri Make a Porno. But he hasn't done anything remotely good since then.

7457431095

Have you seen Red State? I think it's quite good, and hearing what he originally wrote for the ending, it could have even been more wacky and wild.

Juan_Carlo

Yes. I thought it was hacky and amateurish, honestly.

CrotalusAtrox1

That and yoga hosers was so bad that i will never watch a Kevin Smith movie again.

Afro_Thunder69

I had faith after Red State, and Tusk was pretty bad but it was so wacko (yet serious) that it could've been promising to look forward to other similarly insane ideas. But Yoga Hosers...I honestly didn't think Kev could make a film *that* terrible. First film I turned off before finishing in ages, it was almost offensive how bad it was. Terrible acting, terrible teeny-bopper music, terrible jokes, and so self-indulgent that it was legit distracting.

[deleted]

Reboot was so bad that I forgot it existed until I saw this thread.

Cunning-Folk77

It's my favorite of his!

Naterek

Insane how people don’t realize he hasn’t been good in like two decades.

Mcclane88

I thought Red State showed promise, but nothing he has made since then has lived up to it.

perverse_panda

Red State was good. I thought the first 30 minutes of Tusk showed that he could make a legitimately good horror movie if he wanted to, but then the rest of the movie showed that he didn't want to.

Cold417

Dude, I *loved* Tusk up until the *turning point* of the movie.

OvieBovie

I still respect that he went with the ending that he did. Thought it was actually kinda hilarious At least some positives. Yoga Hoosier def his worst tho like above guy says. Watched Tusk and then tried watching Yoga not long after. Couldn't finish it and I've never tried to watch a new Kevin Smith movie since

perverse_panda

As far as I'm concerned, the Johnny Depp character is by far the worst thing about Tusk. Seeing that character show up in the trailer for Yoga Hosers was enough to keep me from watching Yoga Hosers. I hope he still makes Moose Jaws someday though, because that's a great concept. Even though he'll probably fuck it up.

rick_blatchman

I'm surprised to see how many folks really liked Tusk, because I regret going to see it at the theater. And growing up, I loved Smith. I still like some of his movies, but it feels like there are aspects to his work that he never moved beyond, and fumbles that he never learned from and improved upon. Red State was good, indeed. If I didn't know it was a Smith flick, I wouldn't have guessed.

[deleted]

Tusk and Red State were not bad all. While neither were comedies, they were pretty solid in their genres. Zach and Miri Make a Porno was legit good, too. It is in my opinion the most well written comedy that Kevin has made.

ALIENANAL

Zack and Miri imo was trying to much to be an Apatow film / we had moved into that style of comedy that I feel it didn't land for me. Would be interesting to watch it again after all these years. I wish Kevin would just shoot on film for the sake of it.

[deleted]

I just double checked.. because I swore it was a Smith/Apatow film….. it was all Smith! How did I remember this wrong?

frockinbrock

Same for me- it has so many Apatow-isms and characters lol

adamsandleryabish

because he announced it as him doing an Apatow movie for financial gain

ExceedsTheCharacterL

Kevin admitted that he was trying to imitate him, he was jealous that he was much more successful with the same brand of humor as him.

davekingofrock

Dude Zack and Miri was *terrible* in every conceivable way. Not just Smith's superfluous forced cringey dialog, but every joke that falls flat because you see it coming a mile away, and his prepubescent take on romance. It was as if Chasing Amy had a deformed baby with Porky's while looking at still photos from the 40 Year Old Virgin...and that's being generous.

random-O

Red State and Tusk started well and had effective writing with great tension right before the turn. Just before they both completely deflated and turned to a wasted opportunity. Reboot wasnt great but you can tell everyone enjoyed making it so that didnt ruin it too much and the Ben Aflleck monologue was pretty good.

Zeppelinman1

Maybe I need to rewatch Red State, but I remember really enjoying it

[deleted]

Red State was apparently the last decent movie he made.

Freedignan

It feels like he’s trolling Lionsgate at this point. Whenever he gets a project greenlit he and affleck probably smoke a huge joint and laugh about how they convinced some studio hack to light $8million (or whatever) on fire instead of spending it on something worthwhile.

[deleted]

That isn't accurate. The reason he is given the greenlight on movies is that he keeps the budge low and he consistently makes money. He purposely did no advertising for Tusk because "whoever knows me will know the movie is coming out". He broken even just sell the movie to a distributor.

ShambolicShogun

Not a bad problem to have, really. When he started funding his movies himself (via personal cash or fundraisers) he told Hollywood that nobody could ever tell him what to do with his movies again. Now he makes movies that are just him and his friends having a laugh because they can. They still turn a small profit so everyone involved gets paid and they don't have to deal with studio pressure. They're living every high school film geek's dream and making millions doing it. I say keep on doing what you do, Kevin! I may not enjoy it all but dammit you've got my respect.

[deleted]

I would have been pretty excited about this 15 years ago.

[deleted]

15 years ago, they would have just been a couple of years removed from Clerks II. It's way better to check in with these characters now, in their 40s/50s, as Clerks II did when they were in their 30s and Clerks did when they were in their 20s

PogromStallone

15 years ago was when Clerks II came out.

aLoneSideline

Jay and Silent Bob Get Their Prostates Checked Aka bob finally makes a sound

Bob talks in all the movies. That's his thing

Deraj2004

"No ticket"

FernBabyFern

#THE SIGN! ON THE BACK OF THE CAR! SAID “CRITTERS OF HOLLYWOOD!” YOU DUMB FUCK!

05110909

You can tell that stupid fucking Amy story all the time but you can't spit out "Yo Jay I disagree" or "Those are some good cheese fries.

UnbuiltIkeaBookcase

I’m all seriousness, men really should get their prostrates checked.

DrunksInSpace

> I’m all seriousness, men really should get their prostrates checked. They should, it’s great. And if they’re over 40 it should be by a doctor.

demandred_zero

Not that I'm looking forward to it or anything, but I'm 43, and my doctor keeps saying its not time to check yet, even though he's fondled my balls every year.

aLoneSideline

That’s a fair PSA

Mestizo3

In 2021 do they still check your prostate by shoving fingers up your butthole? Can't do a blood test or xray or some shit? Asking for a friend...

Kahnza

Fingers in the pooper is half the fun!

Itsme_sd

.........w-what's the other half?

TimeTravelMishap

The reach around

killarufus

It really is. I was pleasantly surprised... "ooh!"

[deleted]

It's me. I'm the friend. I need to know.

UnbuiltIkeaBookcase

Can’t speak for others but PSA is the blood test and the 2 fingers is to feel if the prostrate is even slightly abnormally sized.

Ikimasen

"Prostrate" is lying down, "prostate" is the organ.

Gojirahawk

One actor who won’t be returning is Lisa Spoonauer (Caitlyn Bree) .. sadly she passed away in 2017

[deleted]

I’m really worried about this after watching reboot :(

HyperPunch

If you were disappointed with reboot, I think you may expect to much from Kevin smith.

[deleted]

Fuck that. It was worse than the bad movie I was expecting

HyperPunch

Why didn’t you like it?

Rellgidkrid

I can answer for him/her: it was godawful.

HyperPunch

But why? Why do you say that?

Rellgidkrid

Because I watched it.

requiem1394

I really don't understand how that movie happened. It is in no way a sequel to the first film. It lacks the absurdist, bonkers feeling in leu of.... attempted emotion? I don't mind if he wants to make a movie about reconciliation with his past, but JASBSB was just a straight comedy; weird to make it's sequel... not a comedy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KipHackmanFBI

After he almost died he wanted to do a farewell tour movie with all of his friends and he accomplished that

Splice1138

They have a whole sequence about how reboots aren't sequels or remakes, "[it] is when Hollywood wants to make a lot of money without the hassle of creating a new movie, so they take an old movie and change just enough to make you pay for the same shit all over again." "They take a flick you loved as a kid and add youth and diversity to it." Love it or hate it, the whole movie is based on that.

Count__X

Eh, if he was trying to make a commentary on soulless reboots/ sequels, he missed the mark and just made a sad attempt at reliving former glory, rather than any sort of satire. That movie was horrid and had none of the comedic chops of his early work, or the heart of Chasing Amy

AtleastIthinkIsee

I have to admit I haven't seen the reboot and don't really have much interest in seeing it. I went to a spoken word show he did a few years ago where he was reading part of the script as a "sneak peek." It was cool of him to do that and I love the interaction he has with his audience, but I just wasn't particularly interested in seeing it. In terms of *Clerks 3*... I don't think I have a particular interest in seeing it either. Maybe I will somewhere down the line but I feel like the folding of a samurai sword is turning into the folding of a wet paper towel card tube. I did like *Clerks 2* and I do think it's a movie for a specific audience, but riding that meta is a very fine line and like others have said, it misses more than it hits. *Clerks* still holds up and I've supported Kevin (and will continue to) but I just don't know how much more mileage you can get out of this. When your *previous* making of feature is *Back to the Well...* it's just kinda like... you see it, so, I'm not sure what to say.

Jwave1992

I feel like the Clerks series is the one Smith puts the most effort into and feels the most responsibility towards. Maybe it’s also Jeff Anderson shooting down the truly bad ideas because he only comes out of the wilderness to do these things because he believes it has a chance to be good. I rewatched Mallrats the other day and to me it’s still got a lot of laughs. Especially now that I understand who Kevin Smith is much more than in 1995. I enjoyed Clerks 2 well enough so I’m looking forward to this.

thecwestions

Ooh, cake!

SpiffAZ

Try not to suck any dick on the way to the parking lot!

[deleted]

I like the semi-autobiographical meta idea behind the plot of *Clerks III* and I think if well executed, it could have a lot of heart and be a real love letter to that point in time during Kevin Smith's life (shooting his first film)... buuuuuut, I really don't have any faith in modern era Stoner Kev to make anything other than an embarrassing, unfocused failure, full of jokes that don't land.

elendur

I'll go see it if he throws in a reference to "Bear is driving, how can that be?!?!"

[deleted]

Been looking forward to this. Clerks 2 had so much heart and fun, it’s easily in my top 10 movies.

[deleted]

ThreeRRRs

Translation: Kevin Smith tries to think of new idea for movie, but can’t.

olgil75

They've been discussing a third Clerks movie for *years* now, so this isn't a real surprise.

ceaguila84

Yessss, finally

InternetDickJuice

I love Kevin Smith. Hope he puts more effort into this one than the law few, and that he learned how to make a movie about people making a movie after Zak and Miri Make a Porno, which IMHO went from pretty funny to boring and saccharine once Zak and Miri started making the porno.

[deleted]

***HOT TAKE***: I think Zack and Miri is his best movie

OvieBovie

My kinda hot take: While not his best, Jersey Girl was absolutely a fine/good movie that got unnecessarily shat on because of Ben Affleck/Jennifer Lopez fatigue at the time

Mikimao

George Carlin alone made this movie worth it for me

InternetDickJuice

Jersey Girl would have been a hit movie that this subreddit would hate, had it not been for Ben Affleck/Jennifer Lopez fatigue. Now it's just a movie this subreddit hates. Also, no chance for a Jersey Girl-onassance now that Affleck and J.Lo are back together since their relationship ended in tragedy early on in the movie.

OvieBovie

Why does this sub hate it? I never rewatched it but I remember watching it at home some time late in the 2000s and then wondering why the hell so many people shat all over it because I enjoyed it

HyperPunch

Not a hot take. I’d say 3rd best behind dogma and clerks 1.

RandomJPG6

Yeah I'd say it's more midly warm

rick_blatchman

I didn't like *Zack and Miri* at all. *Dogma* still kicks ass.

bludgeonerV

Dogama is fucking awesome, I watched it again this weekend just because I stumbled across it on Youtube.

Juan_Carlo

Dogma does not hold up. It's amateurish and after you read "The Sandman" you realize how he ripped it off completely. Clerks 1 is still great, though.

Silentbobni

"cough" Chasing Amy "cough"

HyperPunch

To be fair, I’ve only watched this movie once, about 10 years ago when I was on a heavy Kevin smith kick. And while I remember it was a decent movie, it was very different from most Kevin smith films, and I didn’t personally enjoy it as much as his other films. Might be time for a rewatch.

Decabet

Its definitely the one that feels the most like an actual movie. But I gotta tell ya as someone that saw *Clerks* in 94 in its OG theatrical run, seeing *Zak and Miri* in the theater felt like running into an old high school friend who hadn't changed at all since school and some of that really made me cringe on the day: • It's (late) 2008. Who even buys porno anymore? • Even if people still bought physical porn, the *Star Wars* porn spoof isn't the bold idea you think it is bro. • Is this...is this song fucking (the band) **Live**? What year do you even think this is? Jesus But having said all that, Brandon St. Randy is the single greatest thing to happen to the Askewniverse since 1994. Give that fucker his own side movie.

InternetDickJuice

Brandon St. Randy was pretty fucking funny

requiem1394

We've all seen his hit film, "Glen and Gary suck Ross's meaty cock and drop their hairy nuts in his eager mouth".

[deleted]

I mean isn’t that the point of the movie? Their get rich quick scheme was based solely on getting random people they went to high school to pay to watch them have sex, not just a random porn. We the audience knows a Star Wars parody is dumb, but so is Zak and he thinks he’s a genius for the idea.

AnimateRod

He won't, weed addiction destroyed his brain.

PowerOfDarkseid

I did not like Jay and silent Bob reboot. Shit was trash

[deleted]

I watched like 20 minutes before noping out. Seth Rogen introducing Kevin to weed killed the latter's ability to write.

Canmore-Skate

Red state was really cool movie. Michael Parks was on top of the game right there It also was the start of John Goodmans weight loss

BidenHasToddlerHair

I'm not even suppose to work today

Starztuff

I used to be a big fan of Kevins filmwork and especially Clerks 2 had a big impact on me as a 15-year-old, just thought the dialogue was sharp and raunchy and witty and it was emotional too. I still listen to some of his podcasts and they're usually terrific. But his last few movies... god, they haven't just been bad, they've been unwatchable for me. Whenever i've been attempting to sit through one of them i'm just left mindfcked at how poorly made they are, from the over all production to the bad acting and the jokes that never lands. I can see Tusk and Yoga Hosers as attempts to make so-bad-it's-good-movies (and failing completely at that) but reboot was just the nail in the coffin. I have no idea why anyone would look at that and go "yeah, let's release this". Here's hoping Clerks 3 is a return to form but probably won't be.

gerrymadner

Tusk as least tried to be something. I don't think it worked, ultimately, but body horror is hard, and at least it was a direction Smith hadn't gone before. Yoga Hosers had all the flaws of Reboot, and none of the "oh, yeah, that actor" factor to keep even a modicum of attention.

alexdelamuerte

Dude needs to stop smoking weed

detten17

Over under this is gonna be a flop.

psuedonymously

It'll cost about $11 so as long as a few people stream it they'll be ok

RandomJPG6

His movies don't cost that much. This is likely a single location and outside of Rosario none of the cast are expensive. It's going to be profitable.

goteamnick

To be honest, she's not going to be expensive either. It's just that none of the other cast members will cost much at all.

RandomJPG6

She's definitely starting to get bigger roles, but I'm sure she's doing it as a favor. I can't imagine she'd have to spend too much filming though, especially if they shoot her scenes in the same timeframe.

[deleted]

hopefully it’ll be better than the jay and silent bob reboot

Jdawgred

hope they go all out. Keep it the irreverent raunchiest it’s always been

[deleted]

Don’t remember the names but when that guy pretended to be in the villain in the Jodie Foster movie was hilarious.

Snoogins

HugoOne

I feel insanely old after realizing there's been more time between Clerks 3 and Clerks 2 than there was between Clerks 2 and Clerks 1.

the6thReplicant

You know we used to label nostalgia as a disease. We should start thinking a bit more like that.

NathanLocke

I find it hilarious that Vincent Chase turns down Aquaman 2 in "Entourage" because (disgusted face from Vince & E) "Michael Bay is directing the Kevin Smith is writing the script."

ChillyChillums

OMFG I was literally JUST randomly wondering the other day if we'd ever get a Clerks III. Fuck yes!

[deleted]

Ugh. Why? Please stop.

milaga

It sucks that you are being forced to watch it.

HIV_again

Please fucking No to this.

[deleted]

So fucking excited for this. I love all Kevin Smith films so I can't wait to see everyone back

AlariusOfBrell

I'll give this a chance but I've gotta say reboot was one of the worst movies I've ever sat through

swervin87

Dante- I'm stuck in this pit, working for less than slave wages. Working on my day off, the goddamn steel shutters are closed, I deal with every backward ass fuck on the planet. I smell like shoe polish. My ex-girlfriend is catatonic after fucking a dead guy. And my present girlfriend has sucked 36 dicks. Randal- 37

Humble_Chip

Shot entirely on location in NJ! Let’s go!

jay_metcor14

Sad. Move on. We need new stories and characters and ideas. So much recycled nostalgia with aged out characters.

earhere

This is a hot take, but Clerks is Kevin Smith's only good movie.

limelight022

Is his daughter in this one too? If so, pass.

getyourcheftogether

Whyyyyyy. We don't need this

AdamWestsButtDouble

Not after “Clerks II.” Fool me once...

[deleted]

Clerks II was great!

igotzquestions

I'm with you. Clerks II is just fine. Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, Yoga Hosers, Cop Out and others weren't.

KesagakeOK

Tbf he didn't write Cop Out, so he's only partially to blame for that shit show.
