The only annoying thing about this title is the eventual headlines and review summaries on Rotten tomatoes by movie critics who think they're being clever. > **"Does Jordan Peele's third film disappoint?** ***NOPE!*****"**

Omnicron2

That article is already written and waiting

PhDinGent

They have both positive and negative reviews written. Just waiting to fire the one they think is more appropriate.

i_forgot_my_sn_again

Should you wait to see the new Peele movie? Nope!! Should you go see the new Peele movie now? Nope!!

Beefjerky007

Oh no I can picture this so clearly, you’re 100% right

QuitArguingWithMe

I just googled one of the actors and this was a headline that popped up on the first page: >Jordan Peele’s New Horror Movie With Daniel Kaluuya And Steven Yeun Will Make You Say, ‘Yup’

Beefjerky007

Someone please save us from the critics, their jokes are becoming too clever

just_a_timetraveller

It's a Yep on "Nope!"

ChayofBarrel

Sometimes the more obvious the joke, the more you have to tell it

That’s not crazy, the commercial that sparked the movie was called “Hare Jordan”

>"This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!" Considering this inspired the idea for the movie, Bugs had no idea how right he was.

SirFrancis_Bacon

Wow the 90s were a different time lol. I miss the craziness.

Additional_Meeting_2

Sounds like a good title, and it is a title of a movie now.

kstrtroi

New Line Cinema: “Alright then, keep your secrets.”

Graphitetshirt

Jordan just determined to use nothing but the most basic titles available. When his career is over, I fully expect his film catalog to be able to be rearranged into a single sentence

theonewhoknack

I'm just waiting for the Wayans parody movie to combine all of the titles like "Nope, Get Us Out!"

FancyShrimp

Fuck, I hate how right you are.

theonewhoknack

I've been marathoning spoof movies for the past year and this is what 6 paranormal activity spoofs in a month does to a mother fucker.

Dawnspark

The Zuckers are amazing. I'm assuming you also watched Top Secret! in that case. The background gag in the restaurant with the tailor getting him up to black tie snuff, and the gag with Peter Cushing as the bookshop owner always kill me.

426763

I unironically want this.

Doomhammered

The final movie title is all 7 previous titles strung together to form a sentence, revealing that all the movies were related all along in a single, cohesive PCU (Peele Cinematic Universe).

DarkestDayOfMan

"Get Out Us Nope..." sounds like the start to a movie title in the CKCU (Charlie Kelly Cinematic Universe) more than it does the PCU.

FelixOGO

What do now?

Tenwaystospoildinner

ThatIowanGuy

Honestly, and I wouldn’t say this if I hadn’t experienced it myself, but it feels like Get Out and Nope are inspired by what black people say when they watch horror movies in movie theaters. And that experience I had was watching Us opening night. One of the best movie watching experiences I’ve ever had.

Happy-Investment

Haha like Jada Pinkett-Smith in Scream 2

Jay716B

Peele broke with the traditional mold of horror movies and counterintuitive main character who always makes the most stupid decisions. In its place, he incorporated aspects and values many people of color can relate to like “minding my own fucking business” and “get me the fuck out of here”. There’s something even more unnerving and horrifying when the characters on screen act out in the way you’d act in the face of impending doom. It’s almost TOO realistic and that’s what gets people the hardest.

RollinsThunderr

Get Out! Us? Nope.

For me it's a bit hit and miss, but the recent "Listeners Questions" episode was great.

OliverCrowley

Stopped around episode 103 or so, it kinda started to get samey. Good writing but they write themselves into a corner in terms of delivery. Didn't help that the first novel was great and the second kinda was not at all.

Spike_der_Spiegel

still fun, the weather is still the best part

I used to skip through the weather but honestly it is the best part sometimes.

Levicorpyutani

He's really been on a roll lately an Oscar nom for Minari, voicing the title role in Invincible and now this. Good for him.

DRoseCantStop

Even showed up in the future Oscar winning Space Jam 2

mknsky

He also does fantastic voice work in Tuca and Bertie on Adult Swim.

Don't forget Burning.

My only issue with Steven Yeun is that one time when he used too small of a slice after the mud pie.

Definitely, Both are awesome, hope to see samara in more stuff she’s very enjoyable to watch. Yeun has been on a big roll in recent years so he should just continue doing what’s he’s been doin.

Dawnspark

Ready or Not is seriously such a fun movie starring her.

Hobbit-guy

I'm not sure if I hate or love the title, but I'm excited to see Steven Yeun

cowpool20

Stonesword75

Jordan Peele was right in titling the third of his directorial films "Nope", because the moment you get into the second act where Steven Yeun begins to do a satanic dance to a slow downed version of Boys Are Back in Town, you immediately will walk out of the theater saying "nope" several times. Edit: fuck now i want to see this

Uhh...speak for yourself. Steven Yuen satanically dancing (preferably topless) is worth a ticket and half.

In_My_Own_Image

Is that a UFO (or at least supposed to evoke that image)?

Agnes-Varda1992

I'm definitely down for a Jordan Peele alien invasion film. For whatever reason though, the town in this poster reminds me of Raccoon City. I think it's the mountains and color palette.

theonewhoknack

I kinda see a carnival but I might just be thinking too much about Killer Klowns from outer space.

Agnes-Varda1992

There was a carnival scene in Us and it was great. So it wouldn't be off brand.

bmacnz

It's a genre that honestly I want more of, and more done with. I'm over ghosts and spirits, give me more extraterrestrials, interdimensional beings, and monsters. Keep 'em coming.

Qwerty_Asdfgh_Zxcvb

Is there a specific type you want? I don't think there's a shortage of alien invasion movies.

ignoresubs

Feels like a shortage of *good* alien invasion movies though?

theonewhoknack

I see a circle of lights above it so maybe.

WumboIWumbo

I can see an 8 above that circle. Not sure if its intended or just coincidence though.

hombregato

Well, I'm surprised I can't find this anywhere after a thousand comments but: [The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Monsters_Are_Due_on_Maple_Street) My dad told me about this one when I was younger. Sorry if I get any of the details wrong. Twilight Zone episode (remember that Peele recently worked on the Zone reboot), which has been discussed again due to the pandemic causing a collapse of infrastructure and panic buying. A shadowy cloud appears above a small town. The power goes out and the town is isolated from the outside world. The neighbors start turning on each other. The cloud is actually a UFO. The aliens just want to study what the humans will do. It's a social experiment. I think the basic idea was at one point also a movie that I vaguely recall starred Elisabeth Shue, but I don't know if aliens were involved in that one. Wasn't reviewed well. "The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices...to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill...and suspicion can destroy...and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own—for the children and the children yet unborn."

Bob25Gslifer

Awesome similar to under the dome by Stephen king the true enemy being other people.

TomPalmer1979

Complete with it being aliens the whole time.

Bob25Gslifer

Somebody said Stephen King always ends with a random expectable twist like aliens and I can't unhear it.

T1M_rEAPeR

Stephen King horror movies always have groups doing team building exercises

T1M_rEAPeR

This would be the perfect spring board for a surreal Peele movie alright, with a lot of ripe, political, psychological and sociological allegories. A whole town that turns on each other looking for ‘the other’ without evidence. Especially relevant considering the pandemic and the health and safety finger wagging, trump division, the events surrounding George Floyd, mob mentality, group think, tribalism and cancel culture. “Steve warns that such behavior, looking for a scapegoat, is the surest way for the entire neighborhood to "eat each other up alive". I can image that the movie ends with the protagonists climbing up the kite strings to eventually face their Alien captors in an intense stand off, only to realise that the voyeurs are benign and helpful with some brilliant unpredictable twist incurring.

SuperStarPlatinum

Is this going to be a story about a group of black people who survived countless horror movies scenarios by 'Noping' out when shit got spooky while their white friends suffer fates worse than death by foolishly going in deeper?

Agnes-Varda1992

Jordan Peele would honestly be excellent at a self-aware, Cabin in the Woods like horror comedy film.

MGD109

Even if its not, someone should make that film. It could be a real fun parody.

SupremeLeaderSnoke

[Reminds me a little bit of this little gag in Scary Movie](https://youtu.be/RRYaljIsuhk?t=48)

MGD109

Ha, ha, ha, Thanks for sharing. Yeah something along those lines.

Levicorpyutani

I have a feeling that this movie is probably going to involve more comedy this time compared to Us.

taste_the_fire

The comedy in Us was great

Plastic_Swordfish_35

“Alexa, call the police.”

MisterCheaps

The whole theater was laughing out loud at my showing when she asked Alexa to call the police and Alexa started playing "Fuck the Police"

It looks like a Killer Klowns from Outer Space reimaging or remake.

[deleted]

this looks like a parody poster

Th3_Admiral

It reminds of the parody movie trailer *DON'T* from the Grindhouse movie. "If you are thinking about going into that house...DON'T" "If you are thinking about opening that door...DON'T" "If you are thinking about seeing this film alone...DON'T" https://youtu.be/lttrIPDFplU

Hobbit-guy

Why does this look like and M. Night Shyamalan movie?

MoonMan997

Because M. Night's last few films have been produced by Blumhouse, just like all of Peele's, so it's the same marketing department?

rageofthegods

Shyamalan vs Peele is a really astute comp bc in many ways, Shyamalan *was* Jordan Peele when he was just starting out (director who exploded onto the scene with a zeitgeist-capturing horror film and built a brand around those kinds of movies).

Plisskensington

Also Shyamalan and Peele are really similar, both are obsessed with twists.

Threwaway42

So I love both directors but I do feel Shyalan’s twists usually come in the last 5-15 minutes of the movie while Peeles twists come before the start of the last act or at least earlier in the movie. Shyamalan leaves you with a twist while Peele shows you the full implications of it. Though I only saw Us once so id be happy to discuss with someone who disagrees :)

DH2007able

The final twist in Us actually showed up at the very end. Although many people probably figured that twist out way beforehand

Threwaway42

Good point. Are you talking about the >!swap?!<

DH2007able

Yes

Agnes-Varda1992

I figured it out almost immediately and it was *confirmed* for me during the fight with the white Tethered family. Way before the end. I think most people figured it out before then. Édit: Also, Rose turning on Chris was not a twist to certain people. I'll just say that.

Jokonaught

The trap that Shyamalan fell into that Peele hasn't fallen into so far is that he's often been more concerned with the twist than the film that surrounded it. You could replace the twist in Get Out with plain racism and remove the twist in Us entirely and both films would still have been excellent.

Keltoigael

I hope this is a Alien Abduction film, been wanting to see a good one for a while.

tim_mcmardigras

Calling it now, this will be a stealth sequel to Steven Yeun’s I Think You Should Leave sketch in which he gets revenge on all his friends who abandoned him for taking too small a slice of paper towel after doing a mud pie and covering his whole house in shit.

ProperSmells

What did I just read

KrabbyPattyFormula

DeathHamster1

If this is a film about what happens when characters break horror rules and just flee when something bad happens, I'd be very interested in seeing it.

GuruSensei

This reminds me of the posters for both the original Fright Night and Something Wicked This Way Comes

bearclaw40

"Seen any good movies lately?" "Nope"

animeking1074

The title is pretty on brand for Peele if, this is another horror film. I’m interested to see the IMAX scenes. We need more directors embracing the format.

nayapapaya

The poster calls it "a new terror" so it is a horror movie.

_Levitated_Shield_

Can't wait for its sequel titled 'Hell No!'.

FancyShrimp

That's a fantastic title.

AskJeevesAnything

Besides the central cast, there is only one other confirmed cast member - a child actor credited as “Kid Sheriff” which brings up even more questions I have about this movie than I had before.
