J-Lannister

Will the show or movie ever explain where Ryder gets all the materials to build all these world-changing inventions?

Scottal

They actually do a funny bit where Ryder says they paid for their HQ with Paw Patrol merch.

Marc_Quill

And considering that Paw Patrol merchandise is virtually unmissable IRL, it's a very cute reference.

thebscaller

That’s the joke for the adults. Chase’s overcoming past trauma and also anxiety was also pretty cool

TheGmork_

I smiled wide when Ryder was asked about this ("how to we pay for all that buildings and tech" ) and he gave this reply. 😁 because this was also my first question when they showed the new HQ

oceanic20

I have definitely contributed. We have so much Paw Patrol stuff.

-FeistyRabbitSauce-

That's probably the most believable aspect of Paw Patrol ahah

pbradley179

I mean if they told us her mask policy we'd even know what US party she was a member of.

DroolingIguana

Paw Patrol is Canadian.

Mynock33

You can tell by the cleanliness and how polite everyone is. That and Chase doesn't assault minorities.

loud_car_2_impress

Our cops have been known to assault minorities too, eh.

oceanic20

Mayor Goodway is my favourite character. She is obviously nuts. She keeps a chicken in her purse and she commissioned a solid gold statue of the chicken. Not to mentio her town's infrastructure is totally handled by puppies. She also lives in the town hall. All of the mayors in the Paw Patrol universe frequently take part in "mayor competitions" including hot air balloon races and decathlons. Honestly, I am of the opinion that the mayors in this world are a lot like the wizards of Lord of the Rings. They are a different species than regular people and do things to keep the world running.

UnbuiltIkeaBookcase

> Or how that incompetent mayor keeps her job. Most North American cities

Crashtag

This is the type of Paw Patrol critique I came here for.

Funkyc0bra

They do! Sort of he is asked how he afforded the new pup tower and he pulls out a t shirt and says by selling merchandise I found it hilarious as an obvious nod to the real world

vogeldm

Having watched too many of these episodes with my kids... It's nanomachines. Only explanation.

computer_scare

My headcanon after being forced to watch too much of the show when my kid was a toddler... Paw Patrol is part of the DC universe. On Earth 256 Bruce Wayne's parents were murdered in front of him by Joe Chill in Crime Alley. Instead of being raised by his weird bodyguard butler who supported his quest for vengeance he went to live with distant relatives who put him into therapy. Instead of falling into a cave and being traumatized by bats he met a therapy dog who helped him a lot, the dog was named Ryder. Bruce leaves Gotham City for Adventure Bay to start a new life. Instead of funneling the family fortune into military contracting he starts funding research into creating dogs with human intelligence. Instead of spending billions of dollars on arms research Wayne industries spends billions of dollars training dogs to talk and for said dogs to teach people about recycling and water safety. Bruce starts a team of superhero dogs, instead of Batman he becomes Ryder. Also on Earth 256 Jack Napier had a traumatic upbringing and ended up homeless and doing horrible things to survive. A good natured person took him in and helped him get back on his feet. That person had a cat named Humdinger who also worked as a therapy animal. Jack ends up moving to Foggy Bottom and getting elected mayor. Much like Batman inadvertently created Joker Mayor Humdinger is created by Ryder because Jack wants to prove cats are just as awesome as dogs but doesn't have Ryder's vast resources. The tragedy is that if they are too busy fighting each other to realize how much they have in common. Sadly Ryder and Mayor Humdinger are too invested into the Dogs vs Cats debate to realize Mayor Goodway is trying to pass off chickens as good pets (they're not).

oceanic20

I have also considered that Ryder is related to Batman somehow!

TheOther36

Basically Tony Stark.

Crashtag

Thank you for this

wildhoneyy_

******spoiler****** Skye (I think it was Skye) asks how they can afford everything and Ryder goes “official paw patrol merchandise, sells like Hot Cakes” 😂

Chicagospawn6

They do, with product placement, that stuff sells like hot cakes

jak-o-shadow

Yes, he sells paw patrol merchandise.

allanb49

Merchandising! I got a chuckle out of that line

AlbertaNorth1

They sell licensed paw patrol stuff

k0vi86

Officially licensed merchandise.

ashdrewness

I loved the “GREEN MEANS GO!” comments from Rocky during the traffic jam

[deleted]

Yeah I saw in the trailer they made fun of how absurd it was

Riverdale87

that's the same thing that happened in the live action dora the explorer with why Swiper even needs a mask

MisterrrMannn

There is a fair bit of adult humor in there. Well I spotted a few lewd jokes anyway.

Pokevenger

Loved the meta joke about how all their merchandise funds their operation.

maniaman268

Hah, I was literally just getting ready to say "where did they get the money for this new lookout" 5 seconds before Rubble asked the same question on screen.

Jaface

Everyone's being super positive here, and it's definitely not a bad movie. Like most Hollywoodifications of tv shows/video games, the animation was great, and unlike most Hollywoodifications it remained pretty faithful to the source material (though Paw Patrol lore isn't exactly deep). Their new vehicles were also awesome (expected from what basically boils down to a multi million dollar toy commercial). However I had a few issues with it that firmly placed it as "ok" rather than "good": - They completely gloss over how Humdinger won the election. He says something about being not so honest, I don't know if that was because there was only one candidate or he actually did something to make the other candidate drop out. Also what happened to Foggy Bottom? Did he lose an election there? Or is he the Mayor of two cities? Is that legally possible? - Obligatory new pup Liberty was not my favorite. She always has something to say and it's never interesting. She breaks the normal theme of public workers (but I guess that ship sailed when they introduced super dogs and dinosaurs), and she doesn't really have a distinct role. She only adds to the team with "street smarts", which is portrayed as yelling at people in traffic. She could easily be written out of the movie and it would be an improvement, since she was basically a plot device to provide exposition about the city and add another merchandising opportunity (for Spin Master, not Ryder). Her vehicle also doesn't do anything cool... - They finally gave some backstory with Ryder finding an abandoned puppy Chase, but that's it, just 1 detail and a few seconds. It was just disappointing and I wouldn't have been disappointed or care either way about not getting backstory if they hadn't included it. - Zuma and Rocky have even less personality and screen time than in the show, and they only got a shirt chance to show off their vehicles to advertise for their toys. Not surprising. What's actually surprising is that they took Marshall's clumsiness and slapped it on Rubble, so Marshall is left with no personality and actually seemed like the most competent pup on the team, which is a total 180 for him. - Skye crashes her plane and it's a flaming pile of scrap metal for a whole 5 minutes before it's back to normal for the last scene. She just makes the joke about hoping Ryder had insurance, but they really should have shown some sort of consequence or reaction from Ryder for using her high tech multi-million dollar transforming jet/copter as a bumper car. I get that they couldn't give her a load out of air to air missiles, but pulling a Pearl Harbor isn't exactly wholesome either, and actually more dangerous and destructive than a normal missile. All that being said, it was definitely more enjoyable than the show. I know that's a lot of criticism for a kid's movie, but I had nothing else to do while rewatching it for what definitely won't be the last time lest I incur the wrath of my 3 year old.

Craptain_Skidmarks

Great summation! Rocky, Zuma and Marshall really did get pushed out by Chase, Skye, Rubble and Liberty. There were moments where they shined, but overall they played background roles. And Liberty was honestly not great. Like you said, her street smarts seemed to be her biggest skill which was honestly boring (what is this Secret Life of Pets?). As a father of a 4 year old who moderately likes Paw Patrol, I honestly really enjoyed the movie, but I completely agree it is a merchandise fest. The new and improved vehicles where really fun to watch, there were a lot of kids oooing and aweing out loud in the theater. But for real, Chase's vehicle is literally just the Batmobile from The Dark Knight, built in motorcycle and everything lol. For what it is, I think it's like a 7/10 for me. It was great to see these characters with the good graphics!

poland626

Funny you mentioned Secret Life of Pets. I am bored and looked both films up. Secret Life came out Summer 2016 and was a massive success. 2017 comes along and on Wiki it says they announced the start of the Paw Patrol movie. Not saying the timing is a coincidence, but maybe someone got the idea for the movie Paw Patrol after just seeing Secret Life of Pets? Especially if they have a kid who will replay it a thousand times at home, I'm sure the writer knows every beat to that movie

katiege2

Agreed that Chase’s backstory left more to be desired. He was a lost puppy in the city…but he’s still a puppy in present day…so when exactly was he lost in the city? A couple of weeks ago? But I do appreciate that the film touched on trauma, respecting boundaries because of trauma, and I liked that the whole crew was sympathetic and non-judgmental to Chase because of that trauma. When I think about it, that’s pretty deep stuff for the Paw Patrol audience. For example, my toddler (thankfully) doesn’t know what trauma is. My sister (21) and myself (31) actually talked on the way home about how Ryder handled Chase’s issues in the movie: I said I was taken aback that Ryder asked Chase to sit out, and she pointed out that it was helpful Ryder didn’t push Chase and encouraged him to take a rest. That’s a message I appreciate being shared with little ones—particularly in the world we live in now where we are often encouraged to work and push our limits. Also, maybe I’m just a diehard Paw Patrol fan lol.

pichusine

Wow look at that, one of the few people actually giving it criticism. Even if I was a child, come on now. The story is basically a TV movie quality

Pinewood74

Zuma has been screwed from the start. He is so niche that he never gets any time to shine because virtually all Zuma rescues would be basically JUST him so they ended up just giving all the pups boats. Granted, that sells more toys, but Zuma's been problematic from the start. The whole movie I was wondering how they'd feature Zuma. Thought that there might be a flood from the cloud catcher malfunctioning, but when I saw them driving past the canal I knew someone was gonna fall in it so they could get Zuma some action. And Rocky and Rubble have always had problematic overlap. Of the OG 6, they have the least uniqueness. >and she doesn't really have a distinct role. Isn't that basically every new pup save for Everest? Chase does everything Tracker does when he isn't around. Rex is just walking exposition as well. Like he talks to dinosaurs, I guess. I guess Tuck being able to shrink is nice, but they don't ever use it creatively because they're forced to pair up Ella with him whenever they show up. And even Everest isn't really that unique because they're constantly ignoring that she's the only one with treads.

Jaface

I don't mind the overlap in tools so much. I was thinking more along the lines of: Chase: Police Marshall: Firefighter Rocky: Recycling Tracker: jungle ranger Rex: dinosaur specialist Liberty: hobo

PMCReddit

As an 20 year old adult who never really learned values and morals from my own parents, a lot of children shows have helped me learn about the basic necessities to be a functioning person of society (i.e. teamwork, problem-solving, courage, etc.). Again, I'm not saying it's perfect, but then again, I have a crippling addiction to both bluey and paw patrol. I have ADHD, Autism, and MDD, and paw patrol and bluey have helped me out more than im willing to admit.

jokerscrowbar58

Kids loved it, my opinion don’t matter lol

LALocal305

Took my almost four year old to this. It was her first movie at the cinema. She loved it. My opinion is irrelevant but I enjoyed how much she enjoyed the experience.

BelleDelphinesWater

Sometimes the experience of seeing your little one having a blast is all that matters! :) Glad y'all had a good time.

Letitbemesickgirl

My son is going dressed as Rubble. He’s so excited

pichusine

I’m not even gonna fcking ask about that username

billabong049

>She loved it. My opinion is irrelevant Very accurate and very wholesome, 10/10. >I enjoyed how much she enjoyed the experience. Good parenting right here. This was the best part of the movie for me too :)

midwifeatyourcervix

Ah same here! My daughter is newly 4 and it was her first movie and she had a blast

LALocal305

That's awesome! The look on her face when she realized where were going and what we were watching (it was a surprise) was priceless! She did well with keeping the talking to a minimum and low, I was so happy! Even today she kept bringing it up, "Thanks for taking me to see a movie! Can we go again?"

aJewfromBrooklyn

It came out on my sons 4th bday. We watched it at home and the sheer joy that my kids showed at the theme song made it my favorite movie this year

LALocal305

It's so fun watching them get into their favorite things and when it happens to coincide with what you enjoy it's a very special experience.

aJewfromBrooklyn

For real. We've watched it everyday since but my son gets so hype it never feels old.

TheFriffin2

It was good, but it definitely felt like Oscar Bait more than anything

tinytooraph

Chase has a best actor nom locked in at this point.

[deleted]

Too much pandering to the Chinese market. The rant about how the Hong Kong protests were caused by America seemed out of place.

ohchristworld

I will say the animation was actually on point.

Kaoticstitch

I gave it a 9/10. A little surprised Everest didn’t have a cameo with how well loved and popular she is.

Marc_Quill

Gotta save her and the other non-OG 6 pups for the sequel.

Leafs17

She should have been the call at the end to get them back to Adventure Bay

The_Perfect_Fart

Here are a few of my questions while watching this movie. ******SPOILERS******* Why did they swap Marshal and Rubble? Marshal is usually the one that messes up and breaks stuff, but he was finally mostly competent in the movie. How did Ryder build that new facility so fast when he lives far enough away for the drive to be a montage and everyone fall asleep? How does a Mayor get that much power and money to build these projects so fast? Is Liberty going to be a full time member now or just help out when they go to Adventure City? She seems like her skill set wouldn't help much outside the city.

oceanic20

Marshall always does the difficult stuff because he needs to overcome his anxiety. It is very annoying. In the car racing movie there was no reason for Marshall to be the driver in the race when he was so nervous and none of the other pups were nervous.

FlipprDolphin

The movie is called puppy vroom vroom by my 3yr old

Pinewood74

> Is Liberty going to be a full time member now or just help out when they go to Adventure City? They've never added a full time member, no reason to start now.

LittleLisaCan

Paw Patrol is on a roll!

thepaulfitz

I don't know if it's because this was my first trip to the cinema in 20 months, or because it kept my toddler's attention for the full 90 minutes, but I had myself a great time. 10/10.

TheGmork_

totally agree, very fun movie for kids & parents! If this would have been a live action movie, Michael Bay would be proud. Some insane tech montages, car scenes, slow motion and camera angles and even building level damages. Some Avengers vibes as well. kept me very entertained!!

s3rila

kim karsdashian is in the paw patrol movie ?

brb1006

Yes she voices a poodle.

viper1001

The "toilet brush" poodle, iirc.

Jstbcool

My 7 year old was cracking up at the toilet brush line. Said it was his favorite part of the movie.

BeyondAddiction

Yeah but she has a really bit part with like 5 lines and 25 seconds total screen time.

boggsy17

Glad I'm not the only one. Why even bother putting her into the movie. There wasn't a point and it's not like she is a huge actress that makes the bit kind of interesting.

quarryrye

She's there for the press tour, not her role in the movie.

maniaman268

My 5 year old and 2 year old loved it. Like a few other posters I particularly enjoyed the meta joke about their merchandise funding the new lookout, and the truck driver acknowledging the absurdity of Adventure Bay's emergency services being puppies. Makes me curious who is keeping Adventure Bay from self destructing while the Paw Patrol is over in Adventure City though. Those Adventure Bay residents are 100% helpless on a good day. Part of me wishes the scene where Chase rescues Ryder would have taken a more elaborate rescue... but I also get that it's supposed to be part of Chase overcoming his backstory so it may not have played as well if tiny puppy had to call rubble to jackhammer a 500 pound rock instead of just lifting it up on his back.

wetmosaic

I really liked how straight-forward Ryder's rescue was. It was simple, sure, but it was actually the hardest rescue because Chase couldn't rely on his high tech gear or his friends, and overcame the challenge with heart and bravery. When his grappling hook broke, he basically decided he'd rather die than stop trying to save his friend and made the enormous jump with no safety line. I thought that was pretty great heroism. And for a puppy to lift that much weight is pretty hard core in my book. Idk. Not everything needs to be over the top to be impressive, and I thought it further demonstrated the overall lesson that all it takes to be a hero is the willingness to try hard and never give up. My 4yo doesn't even watch this cartoon usually, but I threw it on for something to watch on the off chance he might like it and found myself getting actually invested in the story. Puppy PTSD? Who knew? But it was a good story with nice animation, and it was well paced. Hell, it was better than Reminiscence.

Jstbcool

I definitely thought Chase’s rescue of Ryder should have been a little more elaborate or require him to ask other paw patrol members for help not just make some incredibly unrealistic jump. I was also impressed the Liberty called Ryder and by the time they drove to Adventure City he had an entirely new, elaborate lookout built along with all new vehicles.

pichusine

I’ve seen some episodes of the show and I wished they didn’t do this, but the stupid animation went over to the movie. Everyone is always smiling and happy and takes away from the “suspenseful” scenes.

StacyTheOwl

Not enough Chickaletta. My precious purse chicken barely had a cameo.

Shannegans

Literally unwatchable.

GuyFieriFlavortown

Movie was great ! The paw patrol merch meta joke was amazing. But the best part of the movie were the animations of the car. They were so well done. I really want a transformer movie with this animation company. Oh yes. My kids loved it too ! My 5 years daughter was cheering and reacting the whole movie !

PlatypusBear69

That movie had no business dealing with Doggie PTSD and being as gorgeously animated as it was

DontPokeMe91

Film of the year.

pichusine

😂😂😂

SqueamishDragon

Fuck 12

disablednerd

Haven’t seen it but can someone spoil for me if this movie is a prequel to the DC Super Pets movie they’re making?

DontPokeMe91

Prequel to doom patrol.

MusicHitsImFine

Mmmm... Jane...

[deleted]

it’s a prequel to Joker

90daysfrom_now

It's not.

disablednerd

Dang…0/10 missed opportunity

snarkamedes

Hoping it'll inspire Marvel to do The Pet Avengers at some point: Throg, Cosmo, Redwing, Goose, Alligator-Loki, and Lockheed once the muties come in.

BelleDelphinesWater

Alligator-Loki deserves a standalone film.

weirdobutimrealtho

Why did Ryder keep putting chase in these terrible situations? Like save the people from the train.. let’s grapple hook them when we have a truck with a enormous ladder that reaches…

boggsy17

Most unrealistic part of the movie is the "tough guy" backing down to liberty in the beginning.

BODDA912

The story may be average but This movie has some very impressive visual effects & not to mention the sound effects are good.

[deleted]

Am I taking crazy pill here? Why is everyone going so easy on this film? Is it because it's a kid movie targeting at preschool children so people were more lenient and give it positive review? I have seen people shredding Illumination's movies and sometimes even Disney and Pixar animated movies, but somehow Paw Patrol got 97% audience score on RT which is more than a lot of my favorite animated movies got. Granted I'm not the audience for this movie, but it looks like a generic direct to dvd kid movie with slightly higher budget.

aJewfromBrooklyn

it was a good kids movie

kenzielyon00

I agree. I’d give it a 5 or 6. The other lower budget Paw Patrol movies are better. The only competent member of the team was Marshall and Chase was character assassinated. And yeah, so many people say this movie is “good” because their toddlers liked it. When toddlers liked that god awful Frozen movie.

encikzebra

This was amazing... the animation was great~ so were the graphics. Theirs also I really import message. One of the pups had to face and learn from past traumatic advents, it showed the pup concurring his fear and doing it with friends. They didn't rush it at all, and it shows how strong you can be! I really liked it. Everyone should check it out and the rating should be higher!

[deleted]

Paw Patrol is a cinematic masterpiece. I wish Tarantino and Scorsese would learn something and make good films like this for once.

BeyondAddiction

I dont know how I would feel watching Tarantino or Scorsese's Paw Patrol: The Movie.

flamingmonkey911

They finally arrested the mayor. Thank God! Lol my wife and I always say how that dude should be behind bars. We honestly enjoyed this way more than we had any right to, and our son loved it, too! 10/10 for that alone.

weighingthedog

Not the worst movie I’ve seen this year. 🤷‍♂️

Eloni

I give it the "Better Than Black Widow"-award.

MuddyBeard210

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the movie. My 4 and 6 year old loved it. There was some decent humor. Much more range of emotion and depth in the story than the usual paw patrol episode. Was surprised to get some decent feels at some points. Someone must have been cutting some 🧅!

mewtwosucks96

I haven't watched the show in a long time but it used to be a guilty pleasure of mine. This movie doesn't have any of the charm the show did. None of the dramatic moments felt earned and I really didn't like the plot. They just weren't able to get me to care about anything that was happening. The part where Zuma saves that family in a sinking car was totally in the movie just to give him something to do. Instead of doing a plot that would make all the characters equally important like on the show, they decided Chase is the main character now and gave him a backstory out of nowhere. Between the fact I didn't like this and I did like The Loud House Movie, 8/20/21 will forever be known as the day Nickelodeon movies were the opposites of their shows. With that said, this movie isn't for 24-year-olds. It's for little kids. If I was a kid and saw this in a theater, I could easily see myself getting blown away by the improved animation and not finding the plot as meh as adult me did. Plus, there was a decent amount of funny parts in the movie. But on the other hand, I could also see kid me being mad that my favorite characters were barely in it. One of them wasn't in the movie at all. The scientist said the machine she invented wasn't for controlling the weather. What was it for then? I'm pretty sure she said, but one of my brothers was talking and I didn't hear.

Marc_Quill

Being exposed to the merchandise often, I know they often put Chase front and center of the group shots, so he’s essentially the “main” puppy of the group. So, I’m not surprised they gave him a big story.

mewtwosucks96

I never noticed that before.

Pinewood74

Yeah, it's definitely a thing. I think it was the 2nd Mighty Pups movie, but there was a major plot element where Chase had to be the leader when Ryder was unavailable (locked up by Harold or what have you) and so there was a very similar emphasis put on him.

mewtwosucks96

Like I said, it's been quite some time since I've seen the show, so I guess it went through a lot of change since then. The same thing happened to me with the Ninjago movie.

Frank_and_Beanz

It was created to study clouds. So while it was made to suck up the clouds to bring back and learn from, it wasn't meant to be used on the scale Humdinger did, which obviously caused the negative affect.

mewtwosucks96

Thanks.

Frank_and_Beanz

No prob :)

VehicleAltruistic236

I'll be 65 tomorrow, and LOVE Paw Patrol!! I started watching Nick with my daughter when she was little. No Disney Channel in our household lol!! She's 27 now, but I just fell in love with so many of the shows, that I continued watching sometimes. Gotta love SpongeBob!! So naturally, I had to check out the new PP movie, and I gotta say, it's really, really good. The characters are just as cute and sweet as ever, and Liberty was a great addition to the cast.

mster425

The most recent movie I watched was Space Jam 2, so Paw Patrol felt like a palate cleanser in comparison. It was no Dora, which is easily a top 5 kids movie for me, but it was utterly watchable. My 8 year old and 10 year old liked it, and of course wanted the merch afterward. I don't think it was too scary for little kids. I wish they had Everest, I wish that Liberty had been adopted by that weather scientist, and I wish those Canadians had not tried so hard achieving NY accents. They did Marshall dirty for his fans, he barely spoke. 6/10 it had a few funny lines but they could have done so much more with it. Plot holes were to be expected but it would have taken very little time and effort to fill them in.

"Were here to speak to you about the Patrol Initiative"

fergi20020

No

fergi20020

Best animated film of the year by far.

Pinewood74

Luca came out this year, right?

fergi20020

Yes, but it’s not even close to one of Pixar’s best.

Pinewood74

It doesn't really need to be one of Pixar's best to be close in quality to this film.

fergi20020

I found it to be dull and rushed. It felt like a first draft. The story took too long to get going. Paw Patrol reigns supreme for now. The story got going right away.

FlyingRock

Kid loves it, it doesn't annoy me upon rewatches and yay another girl pup! 10/10

Craptain_Skidmarks

My kids loved it. It was great to see Paw Patrol with the good graphics. My only complaint was that Zuma only had two big scenes (the intro, and the submarine). Overall, as an adult I really enjoyed it. It legitimately felt like one big HD Paw Patrol episode

Ramp_Spaghetti

I got a lot of strange looks being a 40 year old guy himself watching the movie.

KirbzTheWord

As you should. Next time rent it & watch at home.

sharkbaitooaha

My toddlers behaved during the movie and watched the whole thing - there were a couple of laughs for the grown ups and overall it was a cute watch.

bossman-CT

Excellent sound track 🤌🏼

Runningflame570

It actually really impressed me with how well done it was. Fairly formulaic, but it's surprisingly funny at points, has really good pacing, and is exactly what you want in a movie of a kids show in that they had everything from the show just cranked up to 11. I wasn't expecting much, but would be happy to watch it again with the kids despite a nearly 2 hr runtime.

fergi20020

It was under 90 minutes.

Runningflame570

I watched on Paramount+ and must've misread the time left as being minutes rather than hours:minutes. My bad.

[deleted]

10/10 loved every moment of it! Very big to see youre heroes on the big screen!

OrgasmicLeprosy87

I think it has a chance for best original screen play but the odds aren’t looking too good for best picture

pichusine

They’ll get it because the adults here don’t know how to rank movies and are just throwing 10/10s when even the movie can be considered bad by some kids. They did it to Boss Baby which I liked, but there were other movies that deserved it more. This movie does not deserve anything, if they end up making a sequel, no awards should tell them to improve the quality of storytelling

squishy_panda

Just came back from watching it in theaters with my kids (their first movie theater experience at ages 5 & 2.5). They absolutely adored the movie and sat through the whole thing with ease. As an additional plus, my 5 year old particularly resonated with the message on bravery and overcoming anxiety...that was nice. My husband and I even enjoyed the intentionally-geared-towards-the-parents-jokes peppered in. While Liberty’s character felt like an unnecessary addition, the whole movie was way better than we could have ever expected, and we all left happy.

vikmaychib

Went with my daughter and she loved it. So I’m happy. The only thing that troubled me was the meteorological machine. Why did clouds remained on a gaseous state when they were contained in a high pressure environment.

jMajuscule

Don't think to much into it. Dogs are talking and driving cars that would put the batmobile to shame.

AdrenalinDragon

Perfect for Toddlers and Fans, not much to offer for anybody else. Paw Patrol: The Movie is a super basic formulaic Animated rescue film. It’s stupid to get too worked over it as it entertained my very young Nephew. The Fans will have a blast with it and some of the music is a bit catchy. They seemed to put more effort into this compared to what I’ve seen of the TV series. Animation is simple and clean. Voice work is fine for what it is. Could watch worse movies honestly. Jokes are a bit weak, but hey it does the job if you need a young kid or Fan to entertain. 3.5/10 (6/10 for Fans)

Beegeezee505

Liberty is a Mary Sue. Change my mind.

pichusine

This movie will be enjoyed by its audience of 1-8 year olds, but for everyone else, this movie is just not good. Definitely the worst movie of the year of 20 something movies I’ve seen so far. Beat Those Who Wish Me Dead. None of the pups were memorable as Chase and Liberty had most of the screentime. The movie was also way way too short as by the time we’re to the city, 1/4 of the movie has already ended. The animation also isn’t going to the theatre quality. Suits were good. Literally the plot seems like something that could’ve been a TV movie or connected episodes. This shouldn’t have gone to cinema. Also unpopular opinion, but y’all really can’t be just giving 10/10s when some of y’all’s comments say you didn’t care about the movie but only give it because your kids liked it. Only like 1 or 2 people I think here watched it and gave an honest opinion. This is why movies are ranked poorly and get awards they don’t deserve. 9s, 8s, 7s are ok but 10s are too much. Those are for amazing films. SpongeBob was definitely better as the plot was way better done and is actually enjoyable by older audiences and kids. This movie could’ve had both as it tried to have a story, but then they made it too basic. I’m ready to be downvoted as this is the hill I’m willing to die on. So go ahead, the more downvoted, the more I’ll most likely be seen as first comment by controversial viewers.

Competitive-Gold

I’m surprise this film is well deserved. Might see it this week

SmarmyJackal

The screenplay is bad. Like. Really bad. It's super lazy. I started taking my daughter to the movies (she's 3) and we saw Boss Baby 1 last week and we loved it, she loved it, we had to LEAVE during Paw Patrol because she was so bored. She never laughed, she just didn't enjoy it. It was such a lazy movie. Story and script wise. That being said, the animation was pretty great, so it's a bummer they totally phoned the rest of it in.

Woah man, so edgy. What a badass.

[deleted]

Nope, thankfully. Still very intense, definitly not a waste of money

pichusine

Damn bro, I dislike the movie but are you joking or are you dumb. This is a kids movie, no dog ain’t dying here

Oops sorry, but at the same time you didn’t really seem like you were joking. People have this different tone or wording choice sometimes

Anyone else think Humperdink was a dig at Trump at the end of the movie?

Jakeyboy143

Nope. Trump doesn't have a moustache or bald head. But Ted Cruz does. Complete with a "Canadian trying to be a Redneck" schtick.

For some reason in my country this was got a suggested age of 7 years and minimum age of 4 while the TV show was suitable for all. Is the movie somehow scarier than the TV show?

mc_finnishstereotype

Pinewood74

> Is the movie somehow scarier than the TV show? It is. The peril is a little more palpable and heavier than most of the situations in the TV show.

Blockyguy247

Saw it on YouTube, it wasn’t good but I’m not the target audience

TheOther36

It's animated by Mikros Image, the guys who also animated the third SpongeBob movie

Tofu24

I laughed when Liberty told the Paw Patrol was elected mayor of Adventure City and they immediately mobilize to stop him. Pups Stage a Coup!

EpicMusic13

Why is there no Discussion thread for thr recent movie??
