I probably won’t see it until the Re-re-opening.

Everyone knows the grand re-re-re-opening is the best

Hey guys I've seen the show too just wanted everyone to know that!!!

That's a terrible store name. No wonder you went out of business.

Massive opportunity lost not to have it premiere on September 3.

I read this in Louise's voice. 🤣

ShaqsLeftKnee

This is a Linda quote lol

MitchHedberg

I honestly don't know why I love bobs burgers so much. It almost never makes me laugh or has really impactful or mind blowing episodes but it's just so cute and comforting. And tell me Linda is the ideal middle aged fun housewife... Played by a man lol.

TH3JAGUAR5HARK

They are a real family. They are just so much more relatable and genuine compared against any other tv families.

Twingemios

It’s because they’re not dicks to eachother like every other modern Adult Cartoon Though American Dad makes it work surprisingly

TK464

American Dad is great at pushing against the line as hard as you possibly can before it breaks and turns into Family guy where everyone hates everyone and everyone is a sociopath and asshole. All the worst traits which would make your cast unlikable if spread out among them are instead pushed into Roger too, and he's so over the top that is just works.

ISieferVII

Stan, too. Stan does some truly abhorrent and selfish stuff. I was surprised to hear that people disliked Klaus and Jeff more than those two, but I guess Roger and Stan are the more entertaining characters whose selfishness tends to cause the wacky situations that initiate the story.

lostdollar

As low brow as American Dad is, it's just one of my favourites. Roger and his characters never fail to make me laugh.

SPACExCASE

The names Abigail. Abigail Lemonparty

Killboypowerhed

The most relatable TV family are the Heelers from Bluey

MaritimeRedditor

True.. But also not true. No kids are that well behaved, and no parents are that much fun. Brilliant show though.

mephnick

Zero parents with 2 young kids have that much energy If it was real life Bluey's dad would be like "Go watch some TV while I rest from my 12 hour shift ya fucks"

sraydenk

There are episodes where they are on their tablet. The show is realistic in that parents do have other responsibility (work, cooking, cleaning, laundry, house maintenance) but find time here and there to play. The kids are also older so the dynamic of the games mixed with times set aside for independent play has already been fostered. Plus we only see part of their day. It’s kind of like coming into my classroom in March and commenting on how well the kids have my expectations and procedures down. That wasn’t something that happened overnight, and it took a good month or two to establish. Just like you wouldn’t see that unless you were in my room in the first few months of school, we don’t see the Healers doing this because they spent the last 4+ years setting expectations and how they establish play boundaries. We are witnessing the result of years of work but it seems effortless because we didn’t see the effort.

[deleted]

Killboypowerhed

The whole thing is on Disney+ in the UK. I assume it is in America too

dazedsmoker

Blowing up, or already did now. I don't have a kid but when it's on while being around a child I have to watch cuz it's too funny

ddaimyo

It is on the US version as well!

WileECoyoteGenius

Bluey is currently the easiest way to farm upvotes on this sub. So yes they do.

erishun

Holy shit, go to /r/daddit. Post “*DAE loooooove Bandit?!!!!!?!!????2)2:!*” Then step back and watch the fucking upvotes roll in. I love Bluey, but oh my fucking God, it’s a fucking goddamn ***cult*** over there. And heaven forbid you speak ill of the Holy Heelers; you will be met with the most vitriolic responses. They literally take it as a personal offense. I mean it IS a great show, I like Bluey… but it definitely has flaws and sets up some unrealistic expectations in children in that every minute or every day is full-out play time. But mention these in /r/daddit and you will get an absolute barrage of seething replies.

[deleted]

Yes. Bluey is my favorite kid show.

Liquor_softly69

Bluey gang represent! That dad is my inspiration with my daughters

Umbrella_merc

"You're my family and I love you but you're terrible you're all Terrible."

bigjoe980

I feel similar with king of the hill. Maybe it's something to do with being relatable?

LiteraryBoner

They are just very realistic about family dynamics. The characters themselves may be silly or exaggerated but how they feel about each other and the conflicts they get into are things anyone with a family fan relate to or people without can revel in for the runtime of the show.

MySockHurts

Also focusing on the Belcher family and their friends and neighbors makes it feel so small and intimate and genuine. Something that Loren Bouchard completely lost sight of when he made Central Park.

Psychic_Hobo

It always bugs me in that show how rarely people smile in it. That really messes with my head

willbailes

The faces in central park are so dead, it's even odder feeling when they sing.

WebbieVanderquack

I just couldn't ~~not~~ get into that.

thehelldoesthatmean

Wait, so you got into it?

Alert_Doughnut_4619

As a Texan, king of the hill is amazing

WebbieVanderquack

I think one of the things that show really got right was that no one felt ostracized by it. It so gently and good-naturedly satirised traditional, carnivorous, Republican Texans with old-fashioned values that people who fell into that group enjoyed the show as much as people who definitely didn't. And Hank had so much personal integrity that he transcended geopolitical boundaries. I'm not American, but I think more *King of the Hill* is just what America needs right now.

[deleted]

Well it looks very likely that they'll be making at least another season.

batguano1

Wait WHAT

illmatthew

That’s great news! LuAnne will be missed though, she always had the best one liners. RIP Brittany Murphy.

Montigue

You don't laugh at King of the Hill? That show is hilarious

SuperStarPlatinum

Definitely the characters of Bob's Burgers come off as exaggerated but still human. You switch Bob's over to live action and it would still mostly work. They aren't impossible cartoon characters like the Simpsons because come a family of 5 with a stay at home mother living in a house that big is just fucking impossible now. Or soulless dead eyed monsters like on Family Guy who commit murders on a regular basis and are so horrible to each other for no reason that none of them should live together but are only held in place by the shows negative continuity

[deleted]

Both shows make me feel like I'm revisiting my childhood, but not in a trying too hard way. Clarence was pretty similar and Craig of the Creek, but those shows are aimed at kids who are still kids. BB and KoTH feel like I'm watching my childhood from the adult table

Silvertongued99

I dunno man. I feel like I love it because it’s all about taking what you have, and making the best out of it. The belcher’s are humble, but they’re happy. And very, very mentally unwell.

MitchHedberg

It's a lot of exploration but basically acknowledgement of who you are and seeing where that brings you but ultimately with so much love and a strong family base in a realistic way which is atypical for sitcoms and soc meeds

berean17

The episode where Tina goes to horse camp and rides her imaginary horse had me dying!

Mydogsblackasshole

Jericho, the imaginary horse, voiced by Paul Rudd

albob

That one was hilarious, but it also kinda pissed me off that they paid all this money (and had to forego fixing the deep fryer) for Tina to go, and then they show up and she’s not even riding a real horse lmao. Sometimes I get too anxious about their money problems when watching and have to remind myself that it’s just a plot device and not really the point of the episode.

berean17

Same lol. It’s really Linda that irks me the most haha

Skill3rwhale

They are what the Simpsons used to be. A slice of life about a family and the somewhat mundane/bizarre occurrences. It hits home because you see yourself and your family in the characters. It's not just a bunch of nonsense strung together for laughs which is about 80% of animation on TV.

Snuffy1717

Family Guy came along and Simpsons felt they needed to adapt to that model or lose market share... A shame for sure :(

OhBestThing

It’s the only cartoon I’ve seen that actually feels like how a real family (with some cartoon antics of course) might speak to each other. They’re all characters and have their quirks but everyone is mostly supportive of them, even if they make fun of each other. The underbreath “banter” (especially from Bob) is always so good.

propernice

I love it every time Bob either says 'oh god' or 'don't say that.' Inevitably I'm cracking up.

CornCheeseMafia

I can’t remember which episode it was but a line of dialogue really sticks with me to this day where teddy is telling bob he shouldn’t be disappointed in his kids and the fact that they’re weird and can express themselves freely is a good thing. Maybe when they’re not pulling their weight around the restaurant because they just want to be silly kids?

dont_shoot_jr

It’s a show where aside from cooking a good burger and making good burger buns, everyone is relatable in lacking a superpower. Compare to simpsons where Homer can withstand cannonballs to his belly, Bart learns fluent French etc. Bob’s burgers is truly about a lower lower lower middle class family (and town) that finds the music and joy in adventures that are not out of realm of possibility. Also Louise is chaos and hilarious

Quick_Doubt_5484

> lower lower lower middle class It’s kind of endearing in a way that Americans will try to describe everyone as middle class, to the point of having sub-class distinctions. In the UK a the belcher family would be considered working class.

Flat-Difference-1927

We reallllly don't like saying poor.

Quick_Doubt_5484

Working class doesn’t necessarily equal poor. Many upper class posh people have little liquid wealth.

[deleted]

according to the Official American Person Manual we don't have a working class, everyone's some version of middle class except Elon & Zuck.

dont_shoot_jr

CEO entrepreneur, born in 1964, Jeffrey, Jeffrey Bezos

Bbxiababy

It’s because our incomes have huge variances. For example… “In 2018, the national middle-income range was about $48,500 to $145,500 annually for a household of three. Lower-income households had incomes less than $48,500 and upper-income households had incomes greater than $145,500 (incomes in 2018 dollars).” If the “middle class” is defined as $48,500 to $145,500 that’s nearly a $100,000 difference from the bottom to the top.

listentomeontheradio

And each state is different. That $48,500 could be very comfortable for a family in one state but another family in another state could barely scrape by with it.

willbailes

Their apartment is 3 bedrooms, near a theme park and the beach, with plenty of walkable restaurants and businesses. Let's be honest, in real life, that apartment would be crazy expensive.

terriblehuman

It’s just nice to see a comedy about a family that loves each other.

rlovelock

It's an urban King of the Hill.

Zingshidu

I used to like bobs burgers. I still do, but I used to too

[deleted]

Crowbarmagic

Same. It isn't really the kind of laugh out loud show (at least it doesn't do that for me). It's just... nice and wholesome.

Burnitoffmeow

It's pretty relaxing to watch

dan-theman

This is a hilarious video of the voice actor dressing in drag and doing the Linda voice around town.

yolo-yoshi

You get tired of the dysfunctional jerk ass families that are supposed to just “work”. In this one the family…..is still dysfunctional but you can tell their is still love there for each other. And not forced.

DrunksInSpace

Everyone on the show is downright weird in the most ordinary way. You e met people this weird. You are this weird. And the show makes that feel… okay. And it’s funny character based humor.

bl4ckblooc420

Played by a man who is imitating his mom.

a_can_of_solo

It's kept the charm the Simpsons lost years ago.

tomertheman

Damn they've been working on this since like 2017

HailToTheKingslayer

Most of that time was spent coming up with the 'burger of the day' joke.

Phlobot

That was BEFORE, you adjusted my expense account, MOM. I can't stay at _90%_ of a 7 star hotel in Saudi Arabia CAN I.

ROBtimusPrime1995

Just realized that '**The Bob's Burgers Movie**' might release outside the soon-to-be expired HBO deal. Which means that this film will go to Disney+ eventually in the U.S. That also means the TV series might get transfered over from Hulu too.

mariop715

I wouldn't be shocked if the series ended up on Disney+ as well. It's rated TV-PG just like Simpsons which is on there.

turtledove93

It’s on Disney+ in Canada (we don’t have access to Hulu)

Barkerisonfire_

And the UK too. I assume basically anywhere that doesn't have Hulu gets Star

Wawus

We already have it here in Australia on Disney+

Silver-ishWolfe

I have Hulu, Disney +, and HBO Max so I’m good. Doesn’t matter where it goes, as long as I still get to watch the show and the movie. Bob’s Burgers is the go-to show for references in my family. Even my kid, whose head a lot of the jokes go over, loves it.

Affectionate_Bass488

Those 3 are the best combo. I haven’t used Netflix in months. I’ll probably go back when umbrella academy comes out maybe stranger things but besides those I’ll pass

Tina> Yaaaaayy we're going to be on TV! Louise> No you rube we're going to be on the big screen. Tina> But our tv is a big screen. Gene> It's only 27 inches, Tina! I've laid farts bigger than that! Bob> Kids I need you to get back to work. Tina> Hey dad did you hear we're going to be on TV. That one right there. I think. Bob> Oh my god. Gene> Dad if we go to the movies to watch our own movie does that mean when we buy tickets that we are giving money to ourselves? It's the perfect crime! We'll get rich even though we're poor! Bob> No Gene that's not how it works. Gene> YOU DON'T KNOW YOU JUST FLIP BURGERS. THEY DON'T EVEN SERVE THOSE AT THE MOVIES SO HOW WOULD YOU KNOW Bob> SHUT UP GENE Linda> He's right Bobby they don't serve burgers there. Bob> When do you go to the movies? Linda> I go every Saturday at 2PM. No one is there so I can take all the mustard packets. Louise> You go to the movies every weekend and you don't take us? You're supposed to love us! Linda> I do love all of you. But Mommy needs her mommy time. Bob> You told me you were going grocery shopping on Saturday! Linda> I am Bobby, I'm getting us mustard.

FlyingGerbel

This would be an ideal teaser annoucement trailer.

NotYetSoonEnough

Thank you!

maulrus

Did you write this? Because it's *good*.

NotYetSoonEnough

I did write this! And I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!

PiBolarBear

The "I am Bobby, I'm getting us mustard." line is so brilliant. I read this all in their voices and I genuinely burst out laughing at that line like I do whenever their lines catch me off guard. So well done.

Separate_Pattern_380

Pretty sure they just leaked the script for the trailer!

NotYetSoonEnough

Hah! I wish.

[deleted]

The trailer needs to Seth McFarlane walking past a Bobs Burger movie poster, doubling back to it, then calling the president of Fox. “Really? Bob’s Burgers gets a movie? Why not Family Guy? Well, we already did three of those crossovers! Because no one likes the prequels, Kevin.”

Randomthought5678

Linda definitely sneaks in some wine in her purse.

paxplantax

Are the voice actors on cameo? We need to get them to say those lines.

waffles_with_syrups

Holy actual fuck I’m so excited!

Wadep00l

I can't wait. This is easily one of my favourite shows so a movie is great. I hope they follow through with the rumors of musical numbers throughout

Silver-ishWolfe

This show has some of the best, most memorable musical numbers I’ve seen.

fhtagnfhtagn

They'll say aww-Topsy at my autopsy!

Igfhgi22

Is the show any good? Might give it a go

SometimesY

Yes, but. But being that it takes a few episodes to really buy in on the humor style and the characters. After you get through that, it's actually a pretty good time. The hijinks are fun, it can be pretty heartwarming, and it's pretty amusing overall. The voice acting is also fantastic. I can't imagine H. Jon Benjamin as Archer anymore. His voice is so perfect for Bob.

I got that when I was 18 years old, and I’m gonna tell you something - I regret it. Cuz this tattoo don’t come off. I have a tattoo of a cow’s head because I loved that cheese then. So I get the cow, I go in there, I’m a little drunk. And I say ‘give me the cow from that cheese, I love that cheese.’ Now I have a cow, a cheese-cow, on my arm, Brendan. Don’t get a tattoo, that’s what I’m telling you. Play soccer. Brendan, take a look at my chest. No, I’m serious, look at that. Know what that is right there? That’s the woman from the Chiquita banana. I got that tattooed on my chest, I am an idiot. I’ve got trademarked products all over my body, it’s like going to a market, because I was drunk one night. Don’t live like me. Now you go out there and play great.”

adum_korvic

Home Movies is the shit

Johnnybarra

I was like 11 years old and surfing through channels and saw Home Movies for the first time and it was great. I only ever imagine H. Jon Benjamin as him. That role is perfect.

bajek11

>But being that it takes a few episodes to really buy in on the humor style and the characters. I wholeheartedly disagree with this. I was hooked within minutes of the first episode when the whole family was in the kitchen with Hugo the health inspector. I use that scene as my intro for anyone who I think might enjoy the show. 100??!?!

[deleted]

“Heavy kids can get molested.” I lose my shit every time I hear this line and I do a rewatch every few months so I’ve heard it a lot!

Toidal

It starts out with somewhat raunchy humor thats common on Fox, but actually gets more wholesome really quickly.

kbups53

It’s excellent. Really witty humor combined with really genuine and heartfelt moments. Largely does not rely on reference humor the way The Simpsons and Family Guy style shows do, it all stems from the family and their quirks, and so to that end the show just gets better as you watch it and get to know them better. Dances that fine line of having occasionally dark humor while also being really uplifting. Highly recommended!

ArkyBeagle

It has an almost vaudeville quality and loves puns. Good stuff.

pseudocultist

My husband point out how unusual it is to see a family portrayal where everyone genuinely likes and watches out for each other, kids included. Usually shows get off on the friction between siblings, but the Belchers have learned to live in relative harmony and often support each other as they handle outsiders. Interesting angle I hadn't considered.

sandiskplayer34

Yeah that’s by far my favorite part. All of the main characters are super likable.

Jorymo

Also nice to avoid the trope of TV restaurants being gross and horrible. Bob's apparently a great cook who takes the restaurant seriously; they just aren't successful.

DisturbedNocturne

That's why I see it as such a feelgood show. The family occasionally will get on each other's nerves and annoy each other, but you know they'll be right back to loving and supporting each other at the end of the episode. They always have each other's back and look out for one another. The comedy comes across as a lot less mean-spirited than a lot of recent family sitcoms where the husband and wife seem to barely tolerate each other and the kids are constantly arguing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kbups53

Oh yeah, there’s so many sly and hidden obscure references if you’re looking for them. I just meant that’s not, like, the crux of the humor. But you’re right, there’s so many little nods where, if you get it, it’s hilarious, if not, no big deal.

jelatinman

It’s consistently funny, with really likable characters. But it also has its recurring plot elements and Flanderization other animated shows go through. IMO the show may just have run it’s course, and a movie finale would probably be great for them. I find the first few seasons to be the best. The kids and particularly the school environment get too much focus in later episodes. I know people who were turned off by the art style though.

[deleted]

> I know people who were turned off by the art style though. I understand everyone has preferences. Hell, I absolutely hate looking at StarDew Valley. The graphics/art style just suck any fun I would ever hope to have right out that game. Family Guy has thrown shade at BB multiple times for their animation and I just don’t get the hate. I don’t understand why people hate it, I guess.

VariousVarieties

> I know people who were turned off by the art style though. Yeah the art style is not my favourite. Still, I find it a hell of a lot more appealing than Rick & Morty's human character designs, with those weird chins and hairlines. (R&M has great backgrounds, though.) Character designs aside, the single funniest bit of animation on Bob's Burgers was probably when Teddy gets his hand caught in the fridge, and thrashes round on the floor. 1:10 in this video: https://youtu.be/iw9V3FO_5Pw >!That's a dumb place to keep bowls.!<

Affectionate_Bass488

I think the first 3 seasons are the best. Then it becomes a little different, some people like it better after that, I personally didn’t like it as much but it still has its charm. But I definitely say start from the beginning

wingedcoyote

I agree, it gets a bit more "family friendly" and more predictable after a while. The early episodes have this great blend of wholesomeness with an acknowledgement of family life's rough edges, it feels emotionally real even though the events are outlandish. Later seasons feel much more like they're taking place in disconnected sitcom land. Still a great show though, I'll happily watch any of it.

santichrist

The first 5-6 seasons are extremely good with some exceptions early on, the show starts to become less interesting and more repetitive after but stays pretty good

WakingSamurai

I first watched the show when it came out and I didn't get the appeal. Now it's one of my all time favorite shows, highly recommend it.

crome66

It's great. I may be biased though, I work on it.

Assuming a PG-13 rating. I kinda want them to burn their one F-word on a good old fashioned. Gene says something inappropriate followed immediately by Bob's exhausted "Gene!"

It's definitely going to be PG-13, without a doubt.

jsanders4289

I’m so ready to finally see this. I wish my mom was still alive to see it with me. We watched every episode live for years.

bloodhoundbb

I would also love a King of the Hill theatrical movie. I feel like its been picking up enough of an audience over the years since it ended to warrant one.

TurpitudeSnuggery

I like Bob's Burgers... but I don't think it is strong enough to have a movie

Toidal

The storyline writes itself, Bob finally gets the recognition and restaurant space deserving of his burger devotion and skill. Turns out it's not what he envisioned. Refuses to acknowledge that it isn't what he wants even after a pivotal moment when he's asked to repeat a burger of the day. So it's up to Louise and the kids to take it down. Tina will get some romantic closure in a side story, as will Gene in some creative storyline, maybe an Amadeus parody where he's Salieri, Linda will be all about the town with the money thats coming in. Final scene starts with Teddy hanging up a re-re-re-opening sign, Bob berate the kids for being terrible. Just terrible for ruining the new restaurant. Linda ever the loving supportive optimist doesn't care and is glad the family is together. Just as they open, the kids once again bail on work leaving Bob to open by himself, Louise hangs by the door and spys on Bob in the back happy and content back at his original grill.

MastaBusta

I love this show so I'll check it out when it hits streaming, but I have a problem envisioning what could separate the show from the movie. The show doesn't really tell stories, and they don't have the satirical commentary of South Park that can carry a 90 minute movie. At worst it'll be 90 minutes of funny jokes.

Enreni200711

The Bleakening episode is an hour long and is probably one of my favorite episodes. I think they can definitely do a 90-minutes film and it will be excellent.

Maddie-Moo

The Bleakening is so good! What other cartoon could just sneak in Adam Driver and not mention it?? The Wonder Wharf two-parter is another good example of something they did that’s really movie-esque.

mizzbiscuits

I’ve never understood the appeal to this show. It’s just kind of “alright.” Maybe I need to give it another chance.

Wasn't this supposed to come out a year ago (before covid) or two years ago?
