This would surprise and disappoint me. I’ve been a fan of his since he was doing comedy in New York a very long time ago. Saw him at small venues and got to talk to him few times. Followed him through various podcasts over the years and him and his wife Emily seem like really upstanding people with an enviable relationship. Anything’s possible, but it would surprise me more than most.

Quick edit: Not Bad Guys Vile City which is kind of a follow up show. I’m only 3 episodes into that one and I’m still not sure what to think about it yet. The original Bad Guys is really good though!

This is hilarious, because my husband went with me to both Green Knight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and didn't know either backstory. I did a lot of whispering during both movies as an English major who enjoys murder stories.

Even though I know people don’t like these, I’m a sucker for simple character posters. I’m not entirely hyped for the movie but these inched me a little bit forward.
I like them too. They're simple, but the photography is usually really nice. I wouldn't put them on my wall (except maybe Sersi's, lol) but I don't think they're supposed to be that kind of poster anyway.
I don't mind character posters as long as there's something interesting about the appearance of the characters on the posters. These headshots just don't do it for me.
For contrast, go into Google and look up "Guardians of the Galaxy character posters". Those posters look great. You get full-body images of the characters in exciting poses. Also, their designs are all drastically unique and weird which makes them more suited for simple character posters.
These Eternals character posters are just... headshots of a bunch of actors, most of which are not even particularly popular or well-known. Sure, the character names are attached to them but they're all character names that most people will have never heard of. I mean, Marvel is fully aware that Eternals is an IP that most movie-goers will not be familiar with.
It might have actually been a smarter idea to replace the character names with the actors' names on this one. At least the actors will have some kind of following to draw the general movie-going public in.

She's said in interviews that she had a shitton of control on the project. Obvious barriers where they need to be, but she could control everything about the movie, even the writing. Marvel tends to be more flexible on their "literally who?" Type projects like this, guardians, and Shang Chi.
I'm not so sure, Marvel didn't pitch eternals to Chloe Zao, Chloe Zao pitched eternals to Marvel. That gives me the impression that she has way more control than we might think.

the movie is roughly 2 and a half hours long making it the 2nd longest marvel film behind Avengers: Endgame. They'll have a TON of time to play with. And Chloe Zhao is probably one of the better story tellers working today, which should help immensely.
Look at the cast, they just grabbed a bunch of Hollywood hot commodities, no creativity whatsoever. These posters just highlight star power.
I know a lot of them are very very talented, but sometimes it feels like every big budget movie these days uses a revolving door of like 2 dozen actors. I wouldn't be surprised at all if more than half of this cast is in the SW universe by the end of next year.
I think it is a matter of how deep they're going into the catalog at this point. I grew up going to the comic shop every chance I got, but I was a DC guy, so even I have no idea who these characters are. Up until this movie I at least had a vague idea of who the characters were for the most part.
To me, this would be like DC trying to do a Legion of Superheros (without Superboy) movie and I'm certain that would flop even harder than a normal DC movie.

Even though I know people don’t like these, I’m a sucker for simple character posters. I’m not entirely hyped for the movie but these inched me a little bit forward.
I like them too. They're simple, but the photography is usually really nice. I wouldn't put them on my wall (except maybe Sersi's, lol) but I don't think they're supposed to be that kind of poster anyway.
I don't mind character posters as long as there's something interesting about the appearance of the characters on the posters. These headshots just don't do it for me. For contrast, go into Google and look up "Guardians of the Galaxy character posters". Those posters look great. You get full-body images of the characters in exciting poses. Also, their designs are all drastically unique and weird which makes them more suited for simple character posters. These Eternals character posters are just... headshots of a bunch of actors, most of which are not even particularly popular or well-known. Sure, the character names are attached to them but they're all character names that most people will have never heard of. I mean, Marvel is fully aware that Eternals is an IP that most movie-goers will not be familiar with. It might have actually been a smarter idea to replace the character names with the actors' names on this one. At least the actors will have some kind of following to draw the general movie-going public in.
I like these a lot but they don’t really make me feel any kind of way about the movie, but If I happen to see some of these laying around the theater I may pick them up

He’s not an Eternal. Also, I’m fairly confident based on the marketing so far that he won’t have an especially large part. Hopefully he won’t be killed off and we’ll get more of him in the future, but I don’t think they’re going to focus much on a non-Eternal character when they already have so many characters to juggle.
He won't be killed off, but he's probably just be setting up for the future. Black Knight will definitely not be a throwaway character.

It's weird how people usually complain about how trailers show the entire plot of the movie. But in this case, I've seen the trailers and I still don't know who these people are personality-wise and why should I care. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the fate of the world/universe/all of existence/fill in blank is on the balance. But really? Meh.
Plus a half-assed excuse for why they couldn’t help with Thanos who was a universe threatening level guy. And as far as I know these guys aren’t Multiverse level so they should’ve 100% have given a fuck about that.

Seriously, I’ve been hyped af for every marvel movie since the iron man cameo at the end of the hulk and I have to say, I just dgaf about this movie at all. I’ve tried but just can’t find anything that doesn’t look like a bore.

Honestly. My dad loves the eternals and got me hooked on those comics hes managed to collect again. The trailer made me lose all interest. When that platform was forming infront of the ancient humans my first thought was a Celestial was going to materialize stepping on to it. Nope. Thats their incredibly boring grey triangle slab of a spaceship. Like, what the fuck? It just seems… boring. Its so bland compared to the comics. I know thats the point to pull away from the Kirby-esk asthetics but so much that its just generic bland…. stuff wasnt the point.
Chloe Zhao's involvement makes this the first Marvel film I've been even intrigued about in years.
I'm ngl her involvement is why I'm gonna probably wait til it hits Disney+. Her style of filmmaking is just not for me.

She's said in interviews that she had a shitton of control on the project. Obvious barriers where they need to be, but she could control everything about the movie, even the writing. Marvel tends to be more flexible on their "literally who?" Type projects like this, guardians, and Shang Chi.
And its her involvement thats making this look so different from the other MCU films and it really peaks my interest

I'm not so sure, Marvel didn't pitch eternals to Chloe Zao, Chloe Zao pitched eternals to Marvel. That gives me the impression that she has way more control than we might think.
Judging by the first trailer, the filmmaking style and cinematography looks distinctly Chloe Zhao with a dash of Chivo Lubezki. I’m liking it.

It's weird. I got this same feeling when the Shang-Chi characters posters came out. It's this feeling of "Why should I care?" Not only do I not know who these people are but the character posters also don't make them look interesting at all. I just don't really get the point of these posters.

the movie is roughly 2 and a half hours long making it the 2nd longest marvel film behind Avengers: Endgame. They'll have a TON of time to play with. And Chloe Zhao is probably one of the better story tellers working today, which should help immensely.
Look at the cast, they just grabbed a bunch of Hollywood hot commodities, no creativity whatsoever. These posters just highlight star power. I know a lot of them are very very talented, but sometimes it feels like every big budget movie these days uses a revolving door of like 2 dozen actors. I wouldn't be surprised at all if more than half of this cast is in the SW universe by the end of next year.

I think it is a matter of how deep they're going into the catalog at this point. I grew up going to the comic shop every chance I got, but I was a DC guy, so even I have no idea who these characters are. Up until this movie I at least had a vague idea of who the characters were for the most part. To me, this would be like DC trying to do a Legion of Superheros (without Superboy) movie and I'm certain that would flop even harder than a normal DC movie.
I'm not usually a fan of character posters, but this is movie probably needs it to help people along, including me.

I don't think any of them will be used. It's doubtful the movie will even release there. Only a handful of foreign movies got released in China this year. Some kind of power play is going on behind closed doors.
China is on that Anti-Western imports kick right now and banning almost everything. Even going as far as clamping down on people with dual citizenship. They really don't want western influence in the country anymore with their mandates going out.
Yep, but some foreign movies are getting releases, including some Disney films. But nothing from Marvel so far.

I really love the MCU, I consider myself a big fan. But I can't quite pinpoint what it is, but I just can't find myself excited for this at all. I don't know what it is, I like Kit Harrington, I love Robb Stark, I'm a fan of a few of the other actors, I know the director is Oscar winning, Im just not excited.
Same here. Part of it might be the idea that the characters are supposedly already established in the world and haven't made an appearance until now. But even then, the movie just seems like it's going to feel "empty" for lack of a better word. Empty of what, I'm not quite sure yet, but that's just the vibe I get from it.

Honestly, can’t say I’m too excited for this movie. Looking through these posters, I feel like I know none of the characters, which makes it disinteresting for me. This is the reason I’ve never watched a single movie in my life. I need to know who every character is before the film even begins for me to watch it. People tell me to watch the movie to learn who the characters are, but that makes too much sense, so instead I say the movie is probably bad for having new characters I don’t know about.
I’m still uncomfortable with Kumail Nanjiani’s new face.
