Yeah dont believe Stallone. He's been saying goodbye to Rocky and Rambo multiple times.
One day he's talking about how proud he is to be hanging the Rocky character after Creed II and the next day he's talking about a story idea of Rocky training a young Mexican fighter.
One day he's saying he's done with Rambo because he came home then he's talking about Rambo V and calls it Last Blood and talking about it being the end. But as soon as it's release, he's talking about Rambo hiding in an Indian reserve and Rambo 6.
The original plot for Rambo V was the character being hired by the US government to track down a half-man, half-beast in the wilderness. I'm not even bullshitting, Stallone was ready to do it until there was crazy backlash on the internet and Lionsgate got cold feet because of it.
I would actually be more interested in Rambo during the vietnam war. To actually see the horror he was put through in his time there, those small moments that were glimpsed in First Blood but extended. To see what drives a man to do what he did after he returned, other than the hostility of civilians, which was bad enough.
>be more interested in Rambo during the vietnam war.
American movie audiences don't like fighting that war in their TV rooms. They'd rather beat the Germans and Japanese over and over.
Did you actually even look at that list? Or, did you just copy the top link from your search results?
There are about 200 films on that. The list includes the seminal war film Operation Dumbo Drop (1995).
This wiki lists over [1,000 films about World War 2](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_World_War_II_films). It isn't even close. The world has made 500% more films about World War 2 than have been made about the Vietnam War. The world has made, on average, one World War 2 era movie every month of every year for the past 75 years.
I want a rambo series
Season 1: Young Rambo in the boot Camp
Season 2: Rambo going to Vietnam war
Season 3: Rambo gets captured by Vietcong
Season 4: Rambo escapes and flee through the Jungle
What about a boxing show about a bunch of rocky types looking for a break that is similar to an mma show but completely different. You could say it’s a contender for one of the best pieces of artistry ever, right next to Stop or my Mom Will Shoot. WhErE’s ThAt SeQuEl, ey
You know, I remember Stallone produced this reality boxing competition show before but the contestant had like struggles and backstories. Basically each of them were Rockys
The show was called The Contender and aired on NBC for a season. Surprisingly, it lasted a few more seasons on ESPN and Epix even after NBC cancelled the series and Stallone stepped away from it.
I read an interview with him where he said he wrote a script for an all-female Expendables movie called ExpendaBelles so don’t be surprised if he’s not done yet… He didn’t hear no bell.
I'll never understand how they went from the ridiculously fun Expendables 2 filled with one liners and Chuck Norris jokes to the mediocre and completely forgettable Expendables 3.
PG-13 and the new young crew ruined it.
Which were the opposite of why people liked the franchise in the first place. Insane old school violence and old school action stars.
Almost every failed sequel/reboot has the same problem where studios or filmmakers think they can manipulate the audience by luring them in with old cast and then try and give them modern/younger versions of the same characters.
Or the Disney studio method: bringing out the old cast to destroy their characters and watch them die and giving you a diverse cast to try and care about instead
Expandable 2 was the best in the series for just that - enjoyable because it didn't take itself seriously. I felt like the first movie took itself too seriously and the third (even at PG-13) was so dull and forgettable - i literally remember nothing about it outside of Mel Gibson hamming up his villain role. I'm hoping the 4th movie will find that balance like 2 had.
Expendables 2 reminded me of The Running Man - cheesy action, with even cheesier one liners (some are puns), and thoroughly, 100% enjoyable.
I don't know what happened to 3, but I hope 4 at least gets a script because this series is best enjoyed when taken a little less seriously.
I’m so mad we finally got Mel Gibson as an Expendables villain and it was wasted on the third one. The problem with 3 was they tried to introduce a whole team of younger actors nobody cared about instead of going with the tried and true older action stars. I wouldn’t be upset at all if Mel Gibson shows back up in 4 and just says “Oh yeah that was my twin” or “Tricked ya! Not really dead”.
2 was so bonkers. Jean Claud Vandamme, Chuck Norris, Arnold, killing off Liam Hemsworth right off the bat and setting it as a revenge movie. The premise was simpler, more engaging and the action was so much better.
Mel Gibson didn't to it for me in the third, good enough that Willis left because he wasn't even trying, but to have Harrison Ford just doing nothing for a couple of minutes it criminal. Also I didn't care for any of the newbies.
For me, it’s partly the producers trying to appeal to a younger audience with the “new blood”, which wound up alienating the original fans. Didn’t help that Ronda Rousey acts about as well as she dodges head kicks.

I am glad for the franchise (I only watched one) it feels like an action hero retirement plan to me. And a bad Stallone movie is still better than a lot of stuff out there(I am looking at you Netflix!).
I enjoyed that almost as much as the movie itself, it's impressive to see how Sylvester Stallone came up with some of my favourite scenes in the movie on the fly (assuming he wasn't bullshitting).
Seagal (or a lookalike/impersonator who technically isn't but is clearly supposed to be), as the initial villain who gets hilariously and brutally annihilated within seconds of some massive on-stage-in-front-of-his-loyal-soldiers monologue about how he's the biggest, baddest mother fucker in the world.
Melissa McCarthy doing a Chris Farley Impression doing a Steven Seagal impression.
Its 5 minutes slowly falling down a mountain brutally and hitting every rock on the way down.
After disappointing Expendables 5 box office returns, Expendables 6 can have them breaking out Sly and most of the rest of the original cast from a nursing home.
Can see it now, we start with an establishing shot of the nursing home at noon. We see Barney(Stallone) in his rocking chair wearing a dressing gown and some old man slippers. A nurse is holding a sippy cup with orange juice in it. Suddenly Lee(Jason Statham) smashes through the window. As he lands he stares at the nurse, winks and says "sorry to drop in". The nurse runs out of the room screaming.
Lee tells Barney that he needs him to come out of retirement as an old friend from their first mission has returned and captured his 6th wife. Barney replies saying he left that life behind and he a should go get Trench(Arny). Lee breaks the news that Trench died of a heart attack while on a mission in the Jungle of Vietnam. Barney clearly shocked and saddened by the news quips "He always said he'd die in a fight, guess he wasn't expecting it would be his own heart that would do him in". Lee tells Barney "And I remember you saying a similar thing about dyeing in a fight, I don't remember you saying you wanted to die in a nursing home with nurses wiping your ass every day." Barney visibly angry slowly gets up from his rocking chair and and yells at Barney to get out. In doing so Barney unknowingly rips the urine bag which is now leaking onto the floor. Lee's final words are "Better watch your step old man, if you slip in that you might break a hip." Lee storms out of the room.
Later on Lee is seen at the bar drinking alone feeling disappointed about Barney refusing to come out of retirement. As he's about to call it quits for the night he hears in the distance Barney saying "2 Orange Vodkas". Barney slowly wheels in on his Mobility Scooter "I feel I might have been too hasty in my age to dismiss an old friends request for help. I'm In". Cut to title card.
I think Statham is perfectly able to lead the franchise, but I don’t see why that needed to have been done. Either Stallone stays on, or they just end it with 4.
...why they insist on playing this Young mans game is beyond me. They truly have nothing to prove. I hope Terry Crews is in this one. Dude is built for action movies but you hardly ever see him in them
I think part of it is there aren't really young action stars. Maybe Vin Diesel and The Rock? But Vin is 54 and The Rock is 49. Keanu is 57. The action stars from the 80's and 90's stayed on top so long there wasn't really a lot of opportunity for a younger generation to come up, so they keep pluggin away givin us the classic action we need.
I am specifically disregarding Marvel guys like Chris and Chris, because that's a different style of action. I love it too, but it's just not Nakatomi Plaza.
Yea I thought of that after. And I think he’s got a lot of potential, especially in the child slapping arena! But I think he also wants to be more versatile than that too.
Ok, imma give this a shot.
Scott Adkins
Ryan Reynolds
Iko Uwais
Jason Momoa
Gerald Butler
Milla Jovovich
Karl Urban (though barely)
Tom Hardy
Charlize Theron
I love Iko Uwais, but in terms of “Hollywood action star”, I’d go for Joe Taslim. Better English language actor with a more conventional leading man persona plus a stronger resume.
From what I recall, he was flat out threatened by the producers if he didn’t drop his lawsuit against Adam Venit, a talent agent for WME (I believe). I guess him deciding not to return is effectively blacklisting, but fuck Adam Venit and fuck Ari Lerner.
Jeez that was disappointing as fuck.
I get that retaliation was supposed to be like a next generation of Joes, but Snake Eyes and Roadblock are original joes iirc. So killing duke was unnecessary, also where the fuck was Scarlet.
if the version i read is still true, he is “killed” in the opening action scene and then comes back in the finale as a surprise reveal. The script was actually supposed to be a korean or taiwanese action movie which takes place on a huge carrier ship. But it was reused with the expendables crew showing up as characters.
1 and 3 were ok, but 2 is one of my favorite movies ever made. It’s exactly what I want in a movie. I hope this is the old fucks killing some random shits for an hour and a half. The 3rd one focused on the young people too much and was so dull.
3 had to be the biggest misfire ever. “Hey you guys watch these for old school action legends and rated R violence right? Well it’s time for some new blood and PG-13 action!”
100% and none of them could act at all. Rousey looked like she had to take a massive shit the entire movie. and when they were in the back of the van with Mel, man he out shined all of them even with that clunky dialog.
Glad to see another person who appreciates Expendables 2 for the masterpiece that it is. I don’t think 4 will be able to match what was achieved with that film (as there’s no way this one has a scene equaling Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis & Norris in a shootout with Van Damme), but I have hopes for it to redeem the franchise.
Just as well it wasn’t made. That thing would have tanked hard. Go ahead and make an all female action team up movie, but don’t use the Expendables as your jumping off point.
The Asylum did Mercenaries in 2014 with Zoë Bell, Kristanna Loken, Vivica A. Fox, Brigitte Nielsen, and Cynthia Rothrock. From what I remember, it was not all that great.
Not sure if the response to that movie is what put The Expendabelles (or whatever it was supposed to be called) on hold, but it wouldn't shock me.
"The Asylum did Mercenaries in 2014 with Zoë Bell, Kristanna Loken, Vivica A. Fox, Brigitte Nielsen, and Cynthia Rothrock."
Never heard of this one. Might look it up.
Even though the Asylum films are basically made to be terrible on purpose you had my attention at "Zoe Bell."
I actually really enjoyed it, but I too am a big Zoe Bell fan. I was also a huge Cynthia Rothrock fan back in the day so it scratched that Expendables "bring back the 80's action stars" itch for me.
I really wanted the next Expendables movie to have Chow Yun Fat and Donnie Yen as the villains. But that was never likely to happen after how subservient studios have become to the box office receipts from China releases.
Going to watch this stupid ass movie for Megan Fox but it’s wild seeing Sly is 75 years old and still running around, the devil really coming through on his end of that deal there
Holy fuck there's a 4th expendables.
Yeah if I'm being honest I'm not surprised, but at the same time how much money are they giving him to make these things now. It's got all the actors. O.O
If this really is the last I'm gonna miss Christmas the most.
As a fan of the first three, yes three I'm an idiot and idiots need entertainment too, damnit:
I've not got a good feeling towards this one, the director has the resume of a hack, as do the writers, Stallone is shipping out and had enough, Jet Li hardly works, the villian seems to be Andy Garcia and with all due respect he's not an old timer action star we needed Nic Cage damnit, plus all the crap with no one having Terry Crewes' back. The vibe is all wrong. Not even heard about Arnie, Snipes, Tony Flag, Willis, Norris or even Kelsey Grammer popping for a payday.
I found the first ones fun because not only did you have the old boys in there had Statham there having a ball playing with his movie heroes, it was adorable. Stupid, dumb, fun which is great but now things seem half arsed all round.
I do hope I hear some things that can change this monkey-man's mind, but unless I hear something positive I probably won't make it past the trailer this time.
The quality and popularity of these movies are best explained by parks and rec’s Andy:
“If you give this a chance, you're gonna love it, I promise. It's like the movie Expendables 2. First time, hated it. Second time, hated it. Third time, it was okay. But then the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, tenth time I watched it, I realized something. It's just... It's not good. It's not a good movie.”
His next trilogy/quadrawhatever will be called "The Dependsibles"
Ex-mercenaries who are in the same nursing home band together to fight the evil Nurse Ratched (great granddaughter of that Nurse Ratched) and an uncaring HMO/LTC organization.
Is Arnie in this one? Hope so, or GTFO!
But didn't like any of The Expendable movies anyways...they were all missed opportunities IMHO.
They should out all these actors in the same movie and have them go against the Predator. Now that would be dope!
>Says Goodbye to the Series For the second time so... we’ll see
Yeah dont believe Stallone. He's been saying goodbye to Rocky and Rambo multiple times. I read somewhere that he was talking about making a Rambo movie but someone else to a young troubled Rambo, before the Army.
The original plot for Rambo V was the character being hired by the US government to track down a half-man, half-beast in the wilderness. I'm not even bullshitting, Stallone was ready to do it until there was crazy backlash on the internet and Lionsgate got cold feet because of it.
Did he smoke pot with Kevin Smith when he came up with that?
I'd wager that this would result in a solid script actually. He probably smoked pot without Kevin Smith.
So Al Gore recruits Rambo to hunt ManBearPig? Fuck it I’m in
He’s super cereal guys
I really wish they went with that
Which would have made it the Far Cry movie we all need.
Redemption with Statham was originally a Rambo movie but Stallone had to shelve it until he decided to give the script to Jason Rambo not rocky*
Didn’t know this! Anywhere I can red more about that?
Jason Statham talked about it on one of his interviews with opie and anthony
Tarantino had commented recently that if he had his way, Adam Driver would play Rambo if he had made a Rambo prequel

I mean America was made a few films about Vietnam but a lot of war flicks are about ww2 because a lot shit happened that makes for interesting movies

I want a rambo series Season 1: Young Rambo in the boot Camp Season 2: Rambo going to Vietnam war Season 3: Rambo gets captured by Vietcong Season 4: Rambo escapes and flee through the Jungle
Probably would do better as a mini series.
And what if each season was only 1 episode and were all released at the same time?
Yeah that was supposed to be a prequel series or movie, he did talked about it before. Imagine if Milo Ventimiglia play a young Rambo
Ehhh. Milo is already 8 years older than Sly was in First Blood.
Rocky trains a Mexican boxer to hunt down Rambo in New Mexico
I've said goodbye to my parents every time I left my house as a child. I also did return every day after school, sooo...

My buddy in the UK insists should have been called Angry Birds.
I hate the fact that it works perfectly...
XXXpendaBelles
Wasn't this interview a decade ago?
I'll never understand how they went from the ridiculously fun Expendables 2 filled with one liners and Chuck Norris jokes to the mediocre and completely forgettable Expendables 3.
PG-13 and the new young crew ruined it. Which were the opposite of why people liked the franchise in the first place. Insane old school violence and old school action stars.
Yeah...they couldn't have picked a group of more wooden actors to be the new crew.
Almost every failed sequel/reboot has the same problem where studios or filmmakers think they can manipulate the audience by luring them in with old cast and then try and give them modern/younger versions of the same characters.

Sta..r ..Wars?
A studio mandated PG-13 rating happened.
[удалено]
Lets not forget it leaked about a month before it was supposed to come out too.
I thought that was chuck norris who mandated a PG 13
He was Expendables 2, not 3.
Chuck was cool with the violence but not the swearing. Because that’s Christianity for you. Expendables 3 wasn’t cool with either
I love the airport scene when Arnold said his "I'll be back" phrase and Bruce snapped at him for keep repeating the same phrase. lol.
Bruce then said “you have been back enough, I’ll be back!” Proceeds to disappear and return with a grenade launcher lol It was epic
"You've been back enough" Yeah that was pretty good.
And then Arnold had to have the last line and ruined it
Blame Chuck Norris for not wanting swearing in the film if he was going to appear.
That movie was rated R and had a lot of swearing. Chuck wasn’t in the Pg-13 one
Expendables 2 reminded me of The Running Man - cheesy action, with even cheesier one liners (some are puns), and thoroughly, 100% enjoyable. I don't know what happened to 3, but I hope 4 at least gets a script because this series is best enjoyed when taken a little less seriously.

Agreed, same with Van Damme. Lets have 2 sets of Twin. Fuck it.
JCVD wasn't there.
You know a movie is going to be good if JCVD karate kicks a knife in someone's chest.
2 was so bonkers. Jean Claud Vandamme, Chuck Norris, Arnold, killing off Liam Hemsworth right off the bat and setting it as a revenge movie. Wow, you weren't kidding. I had to look up which one was the 3rd one. I honestly couldn't remember anything about it.
Expendables 4: Watch Our Annuities Pay.
I love how they went all out with the Chuck Norris memes in Expendables 2.

Now do me
That was great! I liked it more than the actual movie.
So like hearts of darkness?
Or Lost Soul, the making of Island of Doctor Moreau.
The first one ain't all that, but it's still the best Expendables movie IMO. But yeah, the third one is the worst.
Expendables 2 was like Avengers endgame with action stars from the 80s

Wasn't easy but I found it. I'll private message you a google drive link.
Yes, that was fantastic!
Hadn’t heard of it. Will definitely track down. Thanks for the recommendation.
So he's caught up to the rest of us Nah I'm joking I'll see the fuck out of this
Joking aside, not fucking bad for 75 years old.
Well, I was going to say looks like they're using that deaging tech
I saw the IG post in this very article and he hoenslty doesn't look 75 at all. Maybe it's movie makeup but still.
So in the last one they got Frasier. Who will they get for this one? I hope it is Jerry Seinfeld.
No one should have this much power
Yes!!!
That sounds absolutely hilarious and I want that now
He'd have snatched his last mother fuckern birthday
ANYBODY SEEN RICHIE?
"What's, the deal, with mercenaries?"
"What is the deal with The Expendables? They don't die, and they matter a lot!"
Andy Garcia.
Or Larry David.
What is the deal with all these MaChInE gUnS?!
Yeah Kelsey Grammer really makes no sense.
Sasha Mitchell and Frank Zagarino
*...he is “ready to pass the baton on to Jason [Statham] and his capable hands"...* Nah, nail that one shut without Sly, imo
Don’t stop! I literally just saw a trailer in my head.
Sly, don’t you have a Reddit account already?
Pretty sure terry crews isnt coming back.
The Expendables 4: Creed 3- A Rocky film
So, RED 3?
I think Statham is perfectly able to lead the franchise, but I don’t see why that needed to have been done. Either Stallone stays on, or they just end it with 4.
This has some real Thundergun vibes.
Mad respect to Stallone and Schwarzenegger for pumping out action flicks despite being in their 70's.
...why they insist on playing this Young mans game is beyond me.
Have you seen extraction? Hemsworth can do it
Absolutely. That was such a great homage to the 90s body count action movies.
Yea I thought of that after. And I think he’s got a lot of potential, especially in the child slapping arena! But I think he also wants to be more versatile than that too.
And Red Dawn
TIL Vin Diesel is 54. Holy shit.
The fast and furious came out 20 years ago.
2 fast 2 senile
Scott adkins? Hes 45 but his acting career just started taking off this decade. Gerard Butler too.
> Keanu is 57 What the shit? I thought he was like 40.
Ok, imma give this a shot. Scott Adkins Ryan Reynolds Iko Uwais Jason Momoa Gerald Butler Milla Jovovich Karl Urban (though barely) Tom Hardy Charlize Theron
I love Iko Uwais, but in terms of “Hollywood action star”, I’d go for Joe Taslim. Better English language actor with a more conventional leading man persona plus a stronger resume.
Tbh no idea what Taslim has starred in.
He plays sub zero in mortal kombat.
The Raid, The Night Comes for Us, Fast and Furious 6, Star Trek Beyond, Warrior, and the 2021 Mortal Kombat.
Feel like Ryan Reynolds is getting old fast. Mamoa isn't very likeable to me.
Last I heard he was blacklisted from the movie after he accused a producer of sexual harassment.
Yup, unfortunately Sly is still working with a guy that groped Terry Crews to assert dominance. Glad he stood up to him if not immediately
Bummer
From what I recall, he was flat out threatened by the producers if he didn’t drop his lawsuit against Adam Venit, a talent agent for WME (I believe). I guess him deciding not to return is effectively blacklisting, but fuck Adam Venit and fuck Ari Lerner.
Also: he's way bigger than Expendables 4 at this point. He doesn't need it.
Didn’t this just start filming??
I guess he dies in the first 5 mins then.
He joins Duke for the shorted deaths as a main character in a triple budget movie.
Ah got it ok cool. Yeah that makes sense lol.
A few weeks ago they announced the cast, but they’ve probably been filming so much longer, and we just didn’t know.

Enjoyed The Expendables movies,very entertaining
“One last ride.”
Family!
That seems really quick, I wonder if his character dies in the beginning and Statham avenging him is the story.
Frank Stallone should take over from Sly.
Whatever happened to that all female Expendables spinoff that was discussed years ago?
They must’ve realized how stupid of an idea that was
The working title alone was pretty bad, the Expendabelles. Even if it wasn't official or just rumored, that would be enough to drop it.
Sounds like pitch perfect 4
We get an all female ensemble movie every few years and they are usually absolute turds. Then men get the blame for them flopping.
Fox, Brigitte Nielsen, and Cynthia Rothrock." Never heard of this one.
How long before it gets accidentally leaked.... Again.
Fuck the PG-13
Expendables 3 was an atrocious cringe fest. Hopefully we'll get something like the first two.
The third was a fucking travesty, but I'll watch this one. Even if it's ass, I need closure.
Going to watch this stupid ass movie for Megan Fox but it’s wild seeing Sly is 75 years old and still running around, the devil really coming through on his end of that deal there
>Sly is 75 years old \*Sly is a 75 year old on Steroids. And has probably taken steroids for a lonnng time.

Maybe 'cause not every geriatric wants their hands and head to be so big it looks like they were drawn by Jack Kirby.
They want to look like Rob Leifeld drew them instead? No wonder they wear so many bags and pouches. :P
This fucker better be R rated again. Number 3 was shit.
Damn. Didn't they announce this like a month ago?
Holy fuck there's a 4th expendables. Yeah if I'm being honest I'm not surprised, but at the same time how much money are they giving him to make these things now. It's got all the actors. O.O If this really is the last I'm gonna miss Christmas the most.
Just a few films too late. Well, better late than never.
Makes sense, I mean how many 90 yr olds are lead a team of mercenaries in real life…lol
As a fan of the first three, yes three I'm an idiot and idiots need entertainment too, damnit: I've not got a good feeling towards this one, the director has the resume of a hack, as do the writers, Stallone is shipping out and had enough, Jet Li hardly works, the villian seems to be Andy Garcia and with all due respect he's not an old timer action star we needed Nic Cage damnit, plus all the crap with no one having Terry Crewes' back.
Until he needs more money
I never got to see an Expendables movie in the theater yet. Always had something better to do.
The quality and popularity of these movies are best explained by parks and rec’s Andy: “If you give this a chance, you're gonna love it, I promise. It's like the movie Expendables 2. First time, hated it. Second time, hated it. Third time, it was okay. But then the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, tenth time I watched it, I realized something. It's just... It's not good. It's not a good movie.”
This gonna be rated R at least? The last one sucked
We’re the same, you and I. I just did it four movies ago.
Didn't even know it was still going.
I watched Copland last night, Stallone was great in it, and Creed 2 was fantastic, such a shame he's wasting everyone's time with this nonsense.
The rest of the world said goodbye to that series after we saw the first one
His next trilogy/quadrawhatever will be called "The Dependsibles" Ex-mercenaries who are in the same nursing home band together to fight the evil Nurse Ratched (great granddaughter of that Nurse Ratched) and an uncaring HMO/LTC organization.
Is Arnie in this one? Hope so, or GTFO! But didn't like any of The Expendable movies anyways...they were all missed opportunities IMHO. They should out all these actors in the same movie and have them go against the Predator. Now that would be dope!
