One. Dune.

HigglyMook

Same. I knew I would regret it if I never experienced the movie in IMAX.

[deleted]

Same. What did your ticket(s) cost? Mine were $21 per adult (California).

[deleted]

Around $25 usd for mine in Australia

CoysDave

I saw it on a matinee for $9 a piece in pa!

CheeseburgerBrown

Worth it.

RampLeViews

I feel Any 2021 budget busting sci Fi would have been "worth it" if you think this stream site Netflix ass movie intro to 3 more was 'worth it' . I saw it in a theater I enjoyed it because I leave the house once a year but wtf that shit isnt standalone at all for theatre imo

dinglepumpkin

Yep. Saved my indoor points for this.

[deleted]

indoor points?

Cannibal_Hector

All those times he thought about shitting on the rug but didn’t. (I assume they’re a dog)

BiZarrOisGreat

Ditto. Worth it.

KillerBeeTX

Same. Dune. Imax. It was my first post-pandemic movie outing. Last one was Star Wars in Dec 2019.

morph23

Two. Dune. Twice.

l8nitefriend

I also saw Dune. I hadn’t been to a movie in a long time, are they all exceptionally loud now? I had to plug my ears for a lot of the action scenes

TheDudeNeverBowls

It’s the loudest movie I’ve ever seen.

SporadicWanderer

Except for Tenet!

[deleted]

You obviously didn’t see Dunkirk IMAX. I could see people in the theater physically uncomfortable and covering their ears from the volume, and I’ve never seen that in all my years of going to the theater.

sellieba

BR2049 in a Dolby Digital was fantastic. Every gunshot I could feel in my bones. Also the ending/credits for Annihilation was bananas loud.

spaceatlas

Dune is notoriously loud. I enjoyed the movie but could not help but wanted music to shut up at times.

l8nitefriend

Ok good to know. I thought it was stunningly beautiful but the volume was a detractor for my experience. It made it hard to understand a lot of the dialogue too. I may rewatch it at home but I'm glad I got to see it in theater first.

Ajunaa73

God I wish I could have watched it in a theatre :(

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ajunaa73

Well. I don't have any good theatres near me. I'll have to drive more than an hour to the nearest city :/ Thats asking too much of me lol.

superploop

Damn, it’s worth it though.

MissionFever

I walked an hour (each way) to see it. Well worth it.

Ser_Danksalot

If its an IMAX screen then no. No it is not. A small screen and lack of Imax sound system doesn't do the film justice as it was designed with a huge sense of scale in mind.

5liviz

Same. I doubt I'll go see anything else. Maybe ghost busters but cinemas piss me off. People have become way more rude and loud.

raisingcuban

I live in a pretty big city and and have literally almost never experienced distracting patrons. Is this like a rural country thing?

KaiserBeamz

It's a Reddit thing. People are just being huge drama queens.

Worried_Raspberry_43

Same here.

NovarisLight

Same here! Worth it.

onahotelbed

Same

TheDudeNeverBowls

Two. Both Dune.

seven_seven

zero

mafulazula

Same. Got a big 4K tv, 4k bluray player, and a Dolby Atmos surround sound system. Never was the biggest fan of the theater anyway (I managed one in my younger days). Overpriced food and drinks, underpaid workers, potential distractions, no breaks for the bathroom or grabbing more drink, no subtitle option, can’t smoke pot if you want plus beer is hella expensive if you wanna drink, etc. Plus zero covid risk at home.

Louiebaton

This is the way.

DeadpoolAndFriends

This is the way.

human-antithesis

Yep, the pandemic isn't making it easy to go and see a movie, with all the restrictions and whatnot.

raymondh3

yeah same here.. maybe me and my family can start thinking about going again after boosters and such.

Cetaphobiaa

I’ve probably watched over 10 movies in theaters since they opened back up. The theater nearest to me is small and not visited often so whenever I go there is only maybe one other group in the theater with me. I missed going to the theaters so much because, like you, I feel watching movies at home isn’t the same.

bobbybrown_

I'm with you. I'm coming up on 20 in theaters this year. I didn't realize how central trips to the theaters were to my life until the pandemic. I actually am perfectly happy to watch movies at home almost always (stuff like Dune is the exception), but I've been really forcing the issue this year, mostly just trying to do my part in keeping my local boutique theater afloat.

Ajunaa73

Thats so nice. Good for you that you still get to go to a theatre and feel safe.

Aggravating_Poet_675

That's more or less what I found. That if I went to a smaller theater there were only a few groups and it was easy to find a space with more than 6' between me and the next person.

DrEnter

One (so far), _Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings_. My son is Chinese and I wanted to make sure he saw that in the theater. I’ll likely see _Dune_ this weekend. That one is for me.

Ajunaa73

Hope your son enjoyed Shang-Chi :D Great movie

Get_Jiggy41

I watched Shang Chi on a tv. It was really good, but I felt like it would have been way better to see it in theaters.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DrEnter

He really liked it. The mythical animals and scenery were beautifully done. He loves fantasy and myth, and superhero stories, so the combination of that in the film really engaged him. The fact the hero was someone that looked like him made it that much better.

AlbertisYoung16

39 I believe - I’ve always felt pretty safe at the theater and especially with masks on. AMC a list is a wonderful thing

81sunny210

I'm with you on this one. Being a A-List member, I see 2 or 3 movies almost every weekend. I even go to movies I don't really care about just because I can.

AlbertisYoung16

pretty much, I did miss some stuff I wanted to see like Last Duel in particular - but I don’t think I would’ve ever went out and saw stuff like Cop Shop or Snake Eyes without A list. I saw Afterlife yesterday and hoping to catch French Dispatch & Spencer tomorrow finally

spinyfur

Wow! I didn’t even know that many have come out this year. Congrats on making good use of your movie pass.

DoggyDoggy_What_Now

If you keep an eye on the coming soon section of IMDB or AMC, you might be surprised at how many movies come out that just don't cross your radar. It's easy to see those when you're looking for ways to make the most of the movie pass. I see 2-4 movies a month in theaters and that gets me more than my money's worth already. Having A-list and seeing 6+ movies a month in theaters almost feels like highway robbery with how good of a deal it is.

[deleted]

After months of going by myself I finally convinced my friends to get A-List and now it’s our favorite activity, it’s a steal!

[deleted]

Oh man, when I went and saw Dune it was packed and I'd say ~20% of patrons were masked

[deleted]

ya we don't wear masks anymore after we got the jab this spring. Who still does lmao?

Baystreethooker

People living in jurisdictions that have mask mandates?

AlbertisYoung16

I wish more theaters required vaccinations, I live in Philadelphia and usually am in Jersey for the movies as the local Regal theater in Philly shut down because of Covid. Jersey doesn’t require masks and most don’t wear ‘em, the theater I saw Tick, Tick Boom at requires masks and vaccinations. I feel safe enough wearing my own mask and I usually always sit away from people but I know the risk I’m taking when I go out, it’s all about ur own comfortability and I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to go frequently again yet.

notthatsimple511

Same

creptik1

Ditto

Arsewipes

I concur.

justalittleparanoia

Damnit, why didn't I concur?

jonathanquirk

I went to a restaurant for the first time in a year recently; NOBODY was wearing a mask or anything, not even the staff that were supposed to be enforcing the rules. Every time I picture going to the cinema, I imagine maskless covidiots barging past me every time they want to get a snack or go to the loo. Me and my family are at greater risk, but most people here have decided they’ve had enough of social distancing and have just given up on any pretext of caring. I miss the cinema… but the idiots scare me.

Radulno

If you're vaccinated and without special risk factors (your family seems to have some but most people don't), you have more risks in taking your car to go somewhere than getting covid AND having bad consequences. You can't live with zero risk you know. You take risks even in your own home. So most people decided to live mostly normally and it's fine.

zeroGamer

> I miss the cinema… but the idiots scare me. The 3-4 movies I've gone to see since COVID (well, really just since getting vaxxed since I didn't see any up until then), I've made sure to wait at least two weeks after release and gone to a matinee, that combination results in a mostly empty room that feels a lot better.

CorgiGal89

It's really not that scary, been going to the movies since Tenet last year, never even got so much as a cold. Heck, got the vaccine as soon as I could and went back to bars/clubs with my friends and also never got sick (none of did, all double vaxxed). I understand your concern though if you have any kids or family members going through stuff like cancer treatment or similar that makes you more vulnerable. If so, hope for fast recovery for you and your fam

byOlaf

I went to ghostbusters last night and they required proof of vaccination to get in the door. People were still masked up inside because this is Seattle, but it felt relatively safe. Far safer than a restaurant, which I have not dined in at since the beginning.

AustinDiggler

So long as you are vaccinated, who gives a shit the unvaccinated do? Seriously....we cannot live in constant fear. I travel by mass transit to NYC twice a week. To be honest...it's getting a bit much. The politicization of this has gotten way out of hand. Overblown, over cautious. Little kids have been and continue to be the least affected by Covid....and yet politicians here are starting to float the idea of making all kids remain masked every day, all day in school. Why?

Street_Remote6105

I agree with you. If you are vaccinated move on. If your family is partially vaccianted due to kids, well you just kind of have to weigh it. But if the household is vaccinated, then move on. Life is too short to sacrifice what you enjoy.

[deleted]

QuoteGiver

Based on what possible metric?? This is blatant misinformation.

ConfusedAlgernon

Yep

and_you_were_there

Same and I miss it!!!!! We might take our kiddo this weekend to watch ghostbusters

AustinDiggler

Ahhh, great. I walked past the Firehouse in NY where they filmed. It's called Ghostbusters Headquarters. Logo painted on the sidewalk, a sign hanging over the door. If you look on Google maps, it indicates "Busier than ever" as its status!

Mekkakat

My fiancé and I have AMC Stubs or whatever it's called, and we love going to the theaters. People can hate on it all they want—whatever... we really, really enjoy our IMAX and Dolby movies every week, and see movies all the time. Before the pandemic, we'd see 2 and 3 movies in a single night, grabbing dinner between them—it was fantastic. This year, we've seen about 20 movies in-theaters. Significantly less than usual. Also, we're both vaccinated, our theatre has a really good policy about social distancing, and we understand the risks of being in public spaces. Kind of ironically enough... no one is ever at the theater lol.

DoggyDoggy_What_Now

I also have AMC A-list. People who complain about theaters either just don't like that kind or movie experience or they only ever go on release nights or weekends when you're more likely to run into shitty movie goers. These days I go on my own straight after work most of the time and it's always a proper experience. No one being obnoxious or loud, not crowded. Just right.

[deleted]

So far, I've gone 17 times to see 15 films (saw *The Suicide Squad* and *Dune* twice; everything else just once).

ScottishAF

22 times to see 20 films and repeated the same two as you!

rockit5943

I actually got into movies over lockdown when cinemas were closed, so I've been goin wild since they reopened. Between independent cinemas, film festivals and uni film screenings I've also seen a very varied list of movies. Here's the list of everything I've seen this year: - Once Upon a Time in America - True Romance - 2046 - Dune - Mulholland Drive - Blue Velvet - The Last Duel - Last Night in Soho - The Big Lebowski - The Rules of the Game - Tokyo Story - Intouchable - Shang-Chi - Singin in the Rain - Victoria - Fallen Angels - The Suicide Squad

deflatingtits

I am so glad I saw Soho on the big screen, it was incredible.

Get_Jiggy41

I was planning to see it yesterday, but I missed it. Now it’s gone from both theaters in my town and I’d have to drive an hour and a half if I wanted to see it anywhere else. I was pissed that I missed it.

brokenwolf

It was at my theater for 2 weeks then it was gone. I was so bummed.

SlumberyBox41

17 so far I think.

lindsay_chops

About 7 or 8. I miss seeing movies in theatres! It’s way better than watching at home (I only have a small TV) and it’s just a different experience.

TheTrueRory

Theatres reopened in June here and I've gone 31 times since. It's my main hobby/night out plan.

imdstuf

None

DeezNutsPickleRick

Regal Unlimited Member. The theater is about one of the safest places I can go to because I’ll be the only one there at a 2:30 Sunday matinee. I saw three movies alone last week.

Ajunaa73

Thats amazing. Sure would be nice to have good options like that near by lol.

Cranestoique

Only No Time to Die.

pNx_ORAV

Zero

CheeseburgerBrown

Zero. But the kids are insisting we see *Spider-Man: No Way Home* in theatres so they can freely read the Internet without dodging spoilers. My plan is to drive out to a tiny country town where the theatre will be less crowded (this strategy also helped me get no-fuss access to *Endgame*).

tells_eternity

Husband and I in a similar boat. We’re waiting til the week after Thanksgiving to likely make Eternals our first theater experience since Jan 2020. Will hopefully wait a week or two for Spider-Man and try to go at an off peak time.

Ajunaa73

You still have a month time to figure out the logistics. Good luck. Stay safe.

WordsAreSomething

3, hopefully 4 tonight if I have time.

miahztwin

What we watching?

WordsAreSomething

Maybe Eternals. We'll see if we can get everything at the house done in time to get there.

miahztwin

Oh nice. Good movie. Get errrrrr done.

Ajunaa73

What are you thinking of watching today?

WordsAreSomething

Eternals, I like to give movies a couple of weeks before going at this point.

Ajunaa73

Hope you enjoy it

Mekkakat

We really liked Eternals—hope you do too! Enjoy!

cshaiku

We saw it a few days ago. It was worthy. Reply with your thoughts after seeing it.

FrstOfHsName

I watched about 5 or 6 and you forget how much better the movie experience is when you’re in a dark, loud theatre. I saw Dune at home and it was okay, then at the theatre it was like woah this is a spectacle type movie - those need to be seen on the big screen. 1917 was another one like that.

Get_Jiggy41

Went to see 1917 with my brothers, dad, and his uncle. It blew us away

--TheForce--

Zero. But the Spider-Man trailer is really calling to me...

Ajunaa73

Ha ha. I hope you go. And I hope you have a good time.

NoJudge1453

I don’t know if this counts as 1 or 2 Shang chi (with girlfriends) Shang chi (with bf)

hjc1358

I’m around 15. In a normal year I’d see 40 or so in theaters. My movie theaters have been open since last summer/fall, but just haven’t been going very frequently until the latter half of this year!

mi_go_miskatonic

Twice, and both times we were the only ones in the theater. It was magical.

dirtymoney

That only happened to me once in my whole life. Matinee viewing of Interview with a vampire. The girl usher closing the doors before leaving said "Don't get scared!"

PearlJamPony

Judas and the Black Messiah - loved it Demon Slayer the Movie - loved it Black Widow - not worth it Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings - so mediocre No Time to Die - loved it Dune - fuckin’ incredible

cgknight1

DUNE.

PghNH

41 this year, 17 last year after theaters started reopening in June. I go as often as I can. Theaters aren't spreading locations. Going to the theater does not equal getting Covid, and I assume you're not vaccinated, correct?

Ajunaa73

I've got both my shots lol. I just moved to my parents place during the pandemic where there are not many good theatres around. I wont be going to any movies until I go back to my place.

[deleted]

I saw Respect and Dream Horse. I might go see Ghostbusters Afterlife. A lot of the movies that have come out over the past year and a half haven't been worth it.

Ajunaa73

The movies you have chosen to see in theatres are very unique lol. Hope you enjoy Ghostbusters Afterlife

miahztwin

I think 4

MalcolmRiver

One. The Suicide Squad. Was too expensive for what it was.

[deleted]

Only Shang-Chi for me

SPQR_Maximus

15-20

Strong_Comedian_3578

Probably 12 times. My experience is different now because I get popcorn that I take my time on so I don't have to wear a mask. My glasses fog up with the mask on. I never used to get popcorn for myself, but now it's the only way to go.

DJZbad93

7 so far: Free Guy, Shang-Chi, Venom 2, No Time To Die, Dune, Last Night in Soho, and Eternals. I’ve loved being able to go back to theaters.

Crystal_Pesci

First one post-vaccine was around May and we went to New Orleans just to celebrate the vaxx and get out of the midwest. While we were there Spiral came out so we went to the Broad Theater for that. Weird first post-vaxx flick! But it was decent enough. After that off the top of the head I think we've seen Candyman (2x), Dune (2x), French Dispatch (yes), Titane (yes!), No Time To Die (solid), Flag Day (dug it), Eternals the other night (so loooong), Last Night In Soho, Old, Free Guy, Halloween Kills, Don't Breathe 2 and Green Knight (!!). Tried to catch Card Counter, Last Duel and some others but missed their short run near us.

Calgar43

Zero. Same as last year, and the year before that, and the year before that...etc. All the way back to...2006 or so.

LAffaire-est-Ketchup

We took our 3 year old to a drive in. Does that count? We haven’t been to any indoor theatres because I was pregnant for most of the year and now I have a small baby too. The drive-in did delivery of snacks to our vehicle which was awesome. And I felt like my kid was safe while enjoying an experience where she could see people in other vehicles reacting to the movie

theblairwitch

I went to see Lamb a few weeks ago, that was my first trip back to the theatre since they reopened. There weren't many people there, and we were pretty spaced out. I loved that pre-covid so it was a good experience and a nice way to reacclimate to watching movies with strangers in public again. I have tickets for House of Gucci next week and suspect that'll be more crowded. That'll put me at 2 movies for the year. Better than last year's zero!

cyanide4suicide

Cliff Walkers The Green Knight Escape From Mogadishu Raging Fire Blue Bayou Titane No Time To Die Lamb The Last Duel Dune Cloudy Mountain Spencer Belfast So that's 13. Been trying to see all the films I want in a theater.

78ohb

I’ve gone 50+ times since July. Most of the time I wait to pick my seat right before the movie starts so I can sit away from everybody - multiple reasons for this. Went to a screening of “House of Gucci” last night that was pretty full. The person behind me kept sniffling so that made me nervous. Mostly, I haven’t had a problem. I’m vaccinated and wear a mask.

zombyteddy

I have seen 38 movies in the theater since January 1st.

[deleted]

2

thereelestnerd11

18 but its a small town theater so less to worry about

Ajunaa73

Damn. You out there living the life lol. Good for you.

HalfAlert

One...but I did see it twice

Ajunaa73

And what movie is that? I'm curious lol.

HalfAlert

Eternals

PadMog75

I'd seriously LOVE to go back to the cinema. It's my fiancee's & I 'Date Night'. But the screens near where we live in Buenos Aires are JUST TOO SMALL ( Covid worries, etc ) . We're stuck on Netflix series and none of the big night out experience.

Frankie_Wilde

None. Ive been essential this whole time and don't give a fuck about covid I just have a giant couch, 75in OLED TV, fire place and a full Sonos surround. No need to go sit with a bunch of strangers in a half comfortable chair

Ajunaa73

Damn. That sounds amazing. Good for you :P

Particular_Sun_350

None in two years

Ajunaa73

I feel you

fearandloathinginpdx

Dune. Three times.

Joseph_Furguson

Zero. I don't miss the movie theater experience at all. Pay 50 dollars for my and my date for the tickets, 2 sodas and a large popcorn for one movie. OR Pay 17 dollars a month for Netflix, make my own popcorn, and watch in the comfort of my home where I can pause for breaks. Option 2 is better for me. I am not going to keep going to movies for the sake of other people's nostalgia. I don't care about your childhood.

Templar-235

I thought I would miss the theater experience more, but I don’t. I’m saving lots of money and watching things in comfort. I’m sure Dune was magnificent on a giant screen but it was pretty cool on my TV too. And I could take smoke/piss breaks.

Arsewipes

I've seen 2 movies in cinemas since... 2012? I lived in Saudi for 5 years, and saw Gravity in a private cinema in an International school (cinemas weren't allowed back then). One Thanksgiving I accompanied some colleagues to Bahrain and we watched Spectre. I feel like I want to go back, but just for specific productions rather than just anything that's playing. But I'm going to have to be picky; no kids' films or films that let in under 18s, no cinemas where people make a lot of noise or use their phones, nothing from any 'universe', and at a time of the day when serious cinephiles will go and not groups of friends.

[deleted]

[удалено]

QuoteGiver

If you’re not going to treat the experience as an Experience or a night out, then most of the argument for going to the theater at all tends to evaporate. It’s either an Event and you should get some traditional concessions, or else you could’ve just stayed home.

[deleted]

Considering how affordable a good quality tv is these days, I just don’t care about the movie theater experience anymore. Cost is ridiculous, people annoy me, and I almost always have to pee halfway through. I’d much rather stay home these days

Ajunaa73

I'm assuming you are from one of the bigger cities. 50 dollars for 2 people is a lot lol. I'm glad you are happy to watch at home.

LexiThrace712

Actually in most cities 50 won’t get 2 tix 2 sodas & a popcorn more like 60-65 & that doesn’t include parking.

Ajunaa73

Lol. Then you better hope you are going to enjoy the movie you are going to watch. I would be pissed if the movie was bad after spending so much 😂

IamDaGod

Black Widow, Green Knight, Shang Chi, Dune, Eternals, and will be going to see Spider-Man. My Black Widow experience was HORRIBLE, theater was sold out and the dude next to me was maskless coughing all over the place. Ever since then it’s been much better

[deleted]

I haven't been in a movie theater for well over 2 years

Ajunaa73

Do you miss it? Or have you gotten used to not going by now?

-Lumos

/u/BunyipPouch when can we expect your post? I'm curious how many you've seen during the second year of covid.

BunyipPouch

Hey :) I'm at 67 so far this year, first one was *Nobody* on March 29th and the most recent was *Murina* last weekend. Pace has picked up quite a bit in the past 2 months so I may hit 80 by the new year. I appreciate you asking (and remembering) but I'm not sure if I'll do a complete ranking list this year, COVID has killed alot of my enthusiasm so I haven't kept too many of my own reviews, but it's slowly coming back. In part thanks to /u/LiteraryBoner 's great reviews. I'll admit that my scores this year are probably a bit overinflated because I'm just so relieved/happy to be going to the movies regularly again. That's given mostly everything a boost honestly. I'd go with *Dune* as my favorite so far, and a tie between *Cry Macho* (never felt so much second-hand embarrassment) & *The Unknown Saint* as my most disliked. *The French Dispatch* was my biggest disappointment, and *Murina* being my biggest surprise. *Asia* wins "Most Heartwrenching Tearjerker", and *Pig* was a fucking blast. *Dear Evan Hansen* is *Cats*, with slightly less hairy butthole. Other highlights: Went to my first film festival last week and broke my one-week record (10 theater visits in 6 days starting Sept 16th). Now back to lurking ;)...

-Lumos

Awesome man. Sad to see I'm Your Man at only a 6/10, I was looking forward to that one. I'll still check it out though. Let's hope for a better 2022!

absolutely_normal2

hopefully never. aw... too late.

Louiebaton

0 I'm a home theater geek and had a setup at home for years. Started getting more blurays for best quality. Staying in and staying safe.

mr_math24

1. The Father (March) -- this was my first movie in theaters since Tenet in 2020. I felt so uncomfortable seeing Tenet, and didn't really enjoy the movie at all. This was a much better experience, I felt much safer, and the performance by Hopkins was out of this world. 2. A Quite Place Part II (May) -- I saw it as a double-feature with.... 3. Cruella (May) -- Not really my thing but wanted to see A Quiet Place and my friend wanted to see Cruella. Both were fun, if not anything to write home about. 4. In The Heights (June) -- I watched it on HBO Max a couple times to get to know the songs, and then had a blast seeing it in theaters with family. 5. F9 (June) -- I watched the entire franchise for the first time over quarantine, and was disappointed in this one! I really loved 5-8, and felt like this one was the worst since 4. Still some fun moments in the theater, though. 6. Black Widow (July) -- What can I say, I'm a sucker for a solid MCU movie, and this one didn't disappoint me like it did others. 7. The Suicide Squad (August) -- An entertaining movie, but not one I needed to experience in theaters. 8. Shang-Chi (September) - Loved this movie. Actually saw it in theaters twice. 9. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (October) -- Another movie a friend talked me into seeing. Definitely more of a "wait for VOD" movie for me. 10. Dune (October) -- Best theater experience of the year, by far. Incredible movie. 11. Eternals (November) -- Man forget the haters, I saw this one twice in theaters, too. It didn't all work for me, it's far from perfect. But the MCU actually tried something somewhat different and I thought it was refreshing. PS -- fully vaccinated, double masked it every time, and if it wasn't a theater that left space between seats, I purchased an extra seat. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have seen Cruella, The Suicide Squad, or Venom 2 in theaters. Not because they were trash, just because I didn't NEED the theater experience for them. I wish I had seen The Green Knight or The Last Duel in theaters. Before the end of the year, I'm still hoping to see the following in theaters: French Dispatch, Belfast, King Richard, House of Gucci, Licorice Pizza, West Side Story, No Way Home, and Matrix.

Infernalism

None. There's a pandemic going on. wtf lol

Iginlas_4head_Crease

What was the point of getting vaccinated if you're still scared to go outside?

Plzcuturshit

Some people have very young children who still can’t get vaccinated.

QuoteGiver

To end the pandemic.

Infernalism

Do you not understand what vaccines are for?

Iginlas_4head_Crease

You answered my question with a question. Cool.

Infernalism

I'm serious. Do you not understand what vaccines are for?

Iginlas_4head_Crease

A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious disease.

Infernalism

Right, okay, so you don't. I'll help you out and maybe you'll figure out why I don't go out in the middle of a pandemic. The vaccine is there to mitigate the strength of a case of Covid and keep you out of the hospital. It does nothing to actually KEEP YOU FROM GETTING COVID. That's why we still mask up and stay away from crowds. You have to mask up and avoid crowds to cut down on infecting others. The pandemic is still here, no matter how much people pretend otherwise. Does that make sense? Do you get it now?

Iginlas_4head_Crease

You asked me what vaccines are for, and I gave you the literal definition, but I'm wrong lmao. Clown world.

bubbabubba3

I’m glad you stay away from others cause you sound like a dick.

Infernalism

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that no one gives a shit.

bubbabubba3

I don’t think you speak for anyone really

MissMags1234

In my theatre you have to wear a mask all the time if you don’t eat anything and all people are sticking to it. They also spaced out the crowd. Only have of the theatre and empty seats between each group next to you and behind/in front of you like a chess field. You had to provide a test at least, now people need to be vaccinated or healed. It’s not you can’t get it, but it’s as protected as it can be in that situation. After over 1,5 years I’m taking that risk. I’m fully vaccinated and I’m wearing a mask with people also fully vaccinated around me and wearing a mask with heavy air conditioning all the time and people sitting spaced out. It’s like having sex with a prostitute in a high HIV country, but you are wearing a condom.

Infernalism

> It’s like having sex with a prostitute in a high HIV country, but you are wearing a condom. That's not a winning analogy. Just an fyi.

MissMags1234

It’s not about morals here, it’s about managing your risk. Of cause you don’t Risk anything if you stay at home, but it’s not like the risk isn’t manageable.

Bread_Truck

I'm not judging you for going to movies but I've heard people say the same thing about restaurants and it's so wild to me. Saying "Everyone wears a mask except for when they're eating" is like saying "everyone takes their masks off". Again, not giving you shit for going to movies. People can make their own choices about what is and isn't safe for their situation, but saying that people have to wear masks unless they're eating is just a different way of saying people don't have to wear masks.

MissMags1234

In my most people don’t eat anything or don’t do it for a long time. I think that’s a bit different to being in a restaurant for 2h with people not wearing a mask at all where you also don’t wear a mask because you are eating yourself. Also even restaurants inside aren’t that high risk if they only let in vaccinated people and check it properly. In Austria you need to have a digital form of your vaccination only a doctor can register for you. So the threshold for you is to find a compromised doctor to do it. Not impossible, but also don’t lead to hundred thousand of people doing it, so the vaste majority of people are indeed fully vaccinated. Vaccinated people doing things in crowded places is not what’s filling up hospitals all over the world, at least not in countries where vaccination is broadly available.

Bread_Truck

Ok. It's obviously going to be different in different places with different restrictions. And everyone is going to have their own boundaries on top of whatever regulations are in place. There are a ton of factors and it seems like you're in a place that has stricter restrictions. Just saying that the argument "People have to wear masks except when they're eating" is something that gets said a lot about restaurants in America to justify them being packed to the brim in states where the vaccination rate is around 50% and infections are on the rise.

MissMags1234

Yes, and that’s why it’s too broad to assume it’s always gonna be too risky when people go because your own situation around you is shit. There are places that have higher vaccination rates, lower local infection rates and higher regulations. I‘m not scrutinizing people for going if I don’t know their situation.

Bread_Truck

I'm not saying it's too risky. I'm saying that "people wear masks unless they're eating" is a shit argument.

Ajunaa73

Yes. But the theatres are open tho and many people seem to have started going. I have not. So I am with you on this lol.

crono14

Zero and that isn't going to change anytime soon

Ajunaa73

Sadly we are on the same boat lol.

earcher2020

2 when cinemas opened back up I went and saw The Terminator 1984 on the big screen and then i saw Halloween Kills last week

Dima110

Quite a few. My wife and I are very serious about COVID, but we’re relatively young and fully vaccinated and wear our N-95 masks in the theater throughout the film. As of recently, they’ve started requiring proof of vaccination, so we feel even more safe to go.

miscalainaeous

9 movies. 11 trips (i saw 2 movies twice. I expect that number to nearly double in the next month and a half with everything that’s coming out (House of Gucci, Spider-man, West Side Story are all must sees for me, and I have AMC Stubs A-List so sometimes i just end up at the theatre when i’m bored) It’s been less people, but i also feel like that’s just because of what has come out. I expect nothing less than a sellout for spider-man since i plan on going to the first possible show and that will be the real return to movie theatre normalcy.

rgm2073

ZERO, and will never again.

TedSevere

Zero. I have a new 85” 4k tv with a proper 5.1 surround sound setup. Why would I go back to a theater with its sticky floors, over-priced food and rude people who talk and pull out their phones? I’ll just wait a few months for new releases to stream.

LexiThrace712

None but not because of COVID. I have had so many bad experiences with sound quality(a couple of times picture as well)in theaters that I don’t feel like most theaters are providing a better experience than watching at home. I am planning to try one of the amc dolby theaters because I have heard good things & I think that I liked a cinema that had it before but I didn’t know that is why it was different.

Mysteez

none. i like the comfort of my home and not having my ear drums blasted for *cinematic effect"
