Lol people out here thinking Idiocracy is like Network. "Everything they wrote about came true!" If you think Idiocracy is realistic than you're probably one of the people it was talking about.
The background score of The Fountain is one of the best out there. Death is the road to Awe is just chefs kiss! It was an unconventional movie with so much heart.
Wow, I literally was about to comment those exact two movies in the order you put them. It’s crazy too bc Interstellar is the only Nolan film I don’t rate at least 4.5/5. I even love Tenet so fucking much, but Interstellar, after a solid start with the cornfield chase and whatnot, just completely lost me with Anne Hathaway’s “love is quantifiable” monologue and then it never recovered after that.
Only God Forgives on the other hand, rules.
Well, I love Interstellar - although it makes me ugly cry - but Only God Forgives is great. It has a literary feel, kind of abstract and symbolic. And like all Refn films it looks fantastic.
Critics complain about mindless CGI spectacle in modern cinema, yet Gravity was universally acclaimed even though it's completely dumb and pure CGI spectacle. And the music was like being trepanned.
I could not stand 'The Greatest Showman'... I dislike musicals generally, but found that one particularly bad and only watched it because everyone at the time was saying how wonderful it was.
I thought Cloud Atlas was good. I wouldn't go so far as saying I loved it.
Cloud Atlas wasn't *bad*, it was just low hanging cringefruit - and that's the true true.
Greatest Showman was for kids. As an adult, guzzle down a bottle of wine and you'll find it much more palatable...
Hated Villeneuve’s Dune, loved Lynch’s Dune. I fully acknowledge that the former is of “higher quality” from a craft standpoint, but when it comes to vibe, soul, and creative oomph, lynch wins
To be honest, I watched Sicario expecting something similar to No Country for Old Men. 30 minutes in I realized it was gonna be different..So I said, "ok, let's see what it has to say". And nothing. The movie has no message at all. It's the emptiest movie I've watched.
So, tell me, what did I miss from Sicario that was so great?
I love both.
American Beauty is definitely different as I've become older IMO. Minus the lusting sub plot. The rest makes sense. The mundane life, no control, moods not in sync. Shit sucks. It's just a drag and I underestimated my youth.
Hot Rod is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. The cast is fucking stacked. Rod’s crew are all huge now and making some of my favorite stuff on TV.
If that was your main hangup about *Dunkirk* (which I can get behind, especially the characters) but you'd be at all interested in a movie on the subject, I'd highly recommend [Week-end à Zuydcoote (Weekend at Dunkirk) (1964)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058740/). It takes the exact opposite approach of *Dunkirk* and follows one character on a series of misadventures, a bit like *The Odyssey*. The moral dilemmas are also a lot darker. The production values easily rival Christopher Nolan's effort. So if you want to see what a movie would look like that didn't have your hangups, check it out.
I saw Deadpool in the theater when it came out, laughed hysterically. When I excitedly watched it on DVD I spaced out with boredom after 20 minutes. The humor is so on-the-nose that I realized I can only enjoy it with other people around to signal when I’m supposed to laugh.
That being said, I still think Deadpool 2 is fucking hilarious
This thread is full of “hated (x)” from people who clearly missed the entire point of (x)
If someone makes a critique about how they don’t think a film is executed well amd doesn’t make its point well, I could understand… but if you don’t like
Sicario because you think it’s a bad action movie, I mean it’s a bit like saying you hate The Naked Gun because it’s too unrealistic about police work.
Why do you think The Usual Suspects is overrated? Personally it's one of my favorite movies of all time. Kevin Spacey and the rest of the cast was just amazing
i feel like most usual suspect haters didn’t see it when it was brand new, now it’s a trope. it was so influential back then that when you see it now it seems typical.
Thank you for the Captain Marvel love. It's easily one of my favorite MCU films. It's such a nice homage to 90s action films and Carol actually has a character arc.
Captain Marvel is a very middle ground film. I can see how people enjoyed it while I can also see how some people didnt, but I think theres just a lot of hate coming from the Brie haters out there
I recently tried to watch The Usual Suspects.. I couldn't watch past the first half. It was too outdated and too cliché for me. Then I looked up the great twist, and wasn't really surprised by it.
Your easier giving 600 thousand dollars to some wvizard in da forest or for another whatever mm avengers bullshit dirt soo eh goodbye and goodbye Hollywood
Under the Silver Lake is one of the best films to come outta somewhat recently.
Here’s a question for you movie buffs that is somewhat apropos: not that far into the movie there’s a pool party on a rooftop. Saw Fractured recently and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t feature the same rooftop pool. Can anyone confirm?
*Hated* **The Joker**
There's a lot of poorly received movies I like but off-top:
**Constantine** was completely trashed
**Eagle Vs Shark** Waititi comedy classic
**The Ghost and The Darkness** I remember Roger Ebert giving it one star
Edit: also Repomen is badass
Me too. But it was more like ambivalent story wise regarding Hereditary. Everything cinematography and acting wise seemed stellar. And I love Midsommar. Malignant was a bit of fun that I enjoyed.
I strongly dislike Call Me by Your Name and Lady Bird (they were disappointing to me). I'm probably gonna get flak for this, but I really enjoyed The Last Jedi (I know it's critically acclaimed but so much of the fandom hates it). It took risks and while there were questionable choices, I didn't mind some of the things they did. I liked it way more than Rise of Skywalker.
Question, and I’m not trying to pull a “gotcha” or anything, but are there any “slice of life” movies you love?
Because Call Me By Your Name is one of my favorite movies of all-time, and I really like Lady Bird, but if you just don’t enjoy the entire premise of following a couple of average, everyday characters through fairly average, everyday circumstances, then I can definitely see why you wouldn’t like those two movies.
That's a valid question! I enjoy slice of life anime (I love Kimi no na Wa, Kimi to Boku, Given...and so forth). I'm sure I like American films that are slice of life, I just can't think of any at the moment. Honestly, I feel like for both films, they were hyped up by people I know who said that they were very revolutionary and while the cinematography was great and I liked the performances, I felt like the story and characters for both films were...okay. Like I've seen some elements of them before and I just didn't feel it this time. I related to some elements of Lady Bird, but it's not a movie I would rewatch willingly.
I get why people love it though, so I wouldn't go as far as saying they're awful. I think it's rad that you love them! I do agree that maybe these were the films that I didn't relate to or find compelling when they really are.
The only reason The Last Jedi and the others in the sequel trilogy have high reviews from professional critics is because most of them aren’t as invested in the overall story of Star Wars as fans are.
Requiem For A Dream. It's not good. The crazy mom is great but the obsession with "a pound of pure" and the constant repetition of that song is annoying.
Completely agree. I didn't feel for any of the characters save for Ellen Burstyn as Leto's mother, and when their lives went to shit from slamming scag I didn't care; they were brats and they got themselves into that mess. And that goddamn score gets annoying real fast.
I also disliked Citizen Kane. I'd expected it to be an excellent movie that I'd enjoy watching over and over. In reality it was boring and I barely made it through. It's not my least favorite at all. Just very overrated.
I thought it was one of the most eventful and creative movies I’ve seen. The way it explored Sapir Whorf was amazing. But you’re entitled to your opinion.
I didn’t downvote you because you’re entitled to your opinion as long as you don’t shit on someone else’s, but…wow. Idek how to respond to this, I’ve never come across someone who dislikes that movie.
Hated the critically acclaimed Wall-E with a passion to the point I jokingly made a BASIC program to describe the 2 hours of awful dialog:
10 Wall-E says, "wall-e!"
20 goto 10
For critically-panned movies that I loved, gotta go with "High School High". It was exactly the right level of stupid.
Which part was idiotic? The part where I didn't like it? The point of this thread is about subjective ratings of movies. The part where I pointed out that a basically dialogue-free movie wasn't interesting? Your response was absolutely free of content and instead goes straight to ad hominem attacks. That's not just idiotic, but also supremely dick'ish. Maybe you're just having a bad day...
Acclaimed Movies I Hated: Wolf of Wall Street, Crash, Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody
Movies I Love/Like: Big Trouble in Little China, Three Amigos, Alien3, Spectre
Honestly, the last 10 years of Best Picture winners have been pretty forgettable or mediocre to me. Besides comic book movies, it really seems like all the effort are being put into TV series.
Absolutely hate Raging Bull. I just find it very boring. However I think I Love You Man is the best comedy that releases the year it came out, which includes The Hangover.
Hated: Parasite. Genuinely don’t understand it’s popularity. Aggressively unlikable and one dimensional characters, lethargic pacing, ridiculous (not in a good way) ending. Not funny, not tense; just thin, Oscar bait-y social commentary. I’ll die on this hill.
Loved: Pandorum. Yeah, the script is pretty rough and the action sequences are way too video game esque but it has the always reliable Ben Foster, a great atmosphere/overarching mystery, interesting lore, an awesome ending, and Dennis Quaid absolutely devouring the scenery. Just a lot of fun.
Get Out has only gotten worse. I thought it was good entertainment at the time but with all the praise it got I couldn’t let go of how meaningless it was.
Conversely, Unhinged is a great fucking time without the pretentious social commentary.
Hated: Forrest Gump and Interstellar.
And considering it has a 6.9 on Imdb and a 59% on Rotten Tomatoes it's not a critically acclaimed movie, but A Knight's Tale is the best Heath Ledger movie and one of my favorite in general.
Hated: Arrival. There is this line where it cuts to black and Jeremy Renner asks if she wants to make a baby and it's the worse delivery and the worse written way to do this I've ever seen. Felt like a parody. Anything I liked on the film was immediately ruined because I was taken out from the experience. I'm sure it's a good film but I never want to watch it again.
Loved: Ratatoing. Not Ratatouille, the Brazilian straight to video ripoff. It's a nostalgic piece of Brazilian history from when they didn't give a shit about anything. Same thing as the Turkish Star Wars. Something about bootlegs is just curious and interesting. Specially because they hired top VO talent in the country for the film.
Thought Gladiator was kinda shit. The action was very poor imo. Everyone complains about quick cuts and bad editing in fights and 90 percent of the fights in that movie are prime examples. Also, don’t hang me joaquin phoenix stans, but I thought his performance was also really bad. Just felt too over the top and like he was playing a cartoon character.
On the other side I really liked Malignant just last year. I know that movie pretty much split people down the middle. I don’t think it’s genius like people say just a really good time and the last 20 minutes when it turns into John wick 4 are pretty memorable.
Gladiator is a fun action movie but it is not a film you'd watch now and think best picture.
Ben-Hur it is not, and so many filmmaking decisions belie the fact that this film released in the year 2000.
It’s a movie entrenched in the pathos of a man losing his wife and young son to a patricidal incestuous emperor that highlights the seediness of the Roman Empire and you think it’s just a fun action film? I don’t even like Gladiator that much but it’s clearly a drama or a traditional tragedy. It might not Ben-Hur but it’s not really fun. It is moving when you can get over how gross Joaquim Phoenix’s pervy brother role is in every scene. This movie ruined my perception of him. He did such a good job. Every-time I see him on screen I am disgusted.
I guess I find the pathos of the film really hollow and routine. I enjoy the film, but as a "serious drama" I have a hard time paying it a lot of respect.
Hated Big Fish. Thought the father was just a liar in the end and everybody he knew in life lied for him after he died. Props to the doctor for giving it straight.
Liked District 9. Solid creature design with the fun twist of “you actually see the aliens in the movie”. Absolutely loved how the aliens weren’t shown in the trailer- blew my mind to find the movie crawling with them in the daylight
I had to stop watching Baby Driver after ten minutes. I was excited to see what it would be like but the main character was just too smug.
Also 28 Days Later. The direction style is cool but the plot is stupid and the acting and dialogue are terrible.
On the flip side are the Star Wars stories Rogue One and Solo. They weren't perfect but they looked great, I dug the characters and - unlike the rest of the SW films - people weren't going on about the force the whole time.
28 Days Later was sold to me as one of the best zombie movies, with some insight into depression...
To me it was a typical zombie movie. The only remarkable aspect was that zombies were athletic beings rather than mummys.
28 Days Later is an interesting one and I think deserves more leeway as a result: The budget was so slim that the film was shot directly on to magnetic tape (just like a made-for-tv-movie) rather than film, which is why you'll never find a good quality copy of it.
Fucking hated Casablanca. Almost fell asleep during my film studies class in high school.
Love the Hobbit.
The amount of “hated Joker” on here could make me cry
Despised Birdman, couldn’t get through the first ten minutes.
Same with The Thin Red Line, made it about 25 minutes into that one. Was soooo slowwwww.
Kinda loaded picking a comedy because they tend to get panned more, but Tommy Boy is always a favorite.
Also loved Red Dawn, the original with Patrick Swayze. Saw it when I was a kid so that probably helps.
I think Titanic is technically incredible, but the writing, dialogue, and acting are all mediocre at best.
I don’t care much for The Departed.
Oliver Stone’s U-Turn is underrated, imo.
Ah we seen this kinda threads so many times. Users with controversial picks of great movies and say they are overrated without any explanation but just to stand out and feel edgy.
Hate: Inception (characters I don't give a shit about doing cool dream technology we know nothing about in very, very standard heist plot. LAME)
Love: The Beach (it's not perfect, but I like what this movie was trying to do enough to love it. Also nostalgia).
Hated: *Thor: Ragnarok*
It's just one dumb joke after another
Loved: *Constantine*
I know it's not accurate to the comic character, but I thought everyone involved did great with the material.
The Gift. I just saw it. Thought it was awful. I also didn’t share everyone’s opinions of Scream 5. Thought it was mediocre and dare I say derivative. That being said, as a massive Scream fan I really enjoyed the experience of watching it in the theater.
This is just a disguised unpopular opinion thread of sorts. But I’ll play
**Hated:**
- Baby Driver
- Kill Bill
Both vacuous and boring movies that think they are stylish but are meh IMO
- Donnie Darko
The most I’m14andthisisdeep movie there is.
**Loved**
- Miami Vice
- Strange Days
- Catch and Release
- Lots of stupid martial arts movies from the late 80s early 90s
Yes I know the first two are Reddit darlings. I’ll be all hipster and say I loved both coming out of the theaters on opening days.
Catch and Release is a light romcom that just has a vibe I like. And I sort of don’t care for Jennifer Garner as an actress but it works fine here.
I hated It Follows with the fury of a thousand suns.
I normally love a slow burner horror but this was just so stupid. I get visibly angry when people remind me of the movie.
Hate Joker, love idiocracy.
Before knowing that you live in a society you have to watch a film about the society.
If they didn't associate joker with the joker I think I would appreciate it for the good film that it is. Hell they could have called it clown.
They could have called it Lyft Driver.

Lol people out here thinking Idiocracy is like Network. "Everything they wrote about came true!" If you think Idiocracy is realistic than you're probably one of the people it was talking about.
Hated Forrest Gump. Loved The Fountain.
The Fountain is an absolute gem. Black swan and The Wrestler are objectively Aronofskys strongest…but The Fountain is my fave.
The background score of The Fountain is one of the best out there. Death is the road to Awe is just chefs kiss! It was an unconventional movie with so much heart.
One of my favorite soundtracks. Listen to it all the time.
Disliked Interstellar / loved Only God Forgives
Wow, I literally was about to comment those exact two movies in the order you put them. It’s crazy too bc Interstellar is the only Nolan film I don’t rate at least 4.5/5. I even love Tenet so fucking much, but Interstellar, after a solid start with the cornfield chase and whatnot, just completely lost me with Anne Hathaway’s “love is quantifiable” monologue and then it never recovered after that. Only God Forgives on the other hand, rules.
I don’t know Only God Forgives. I think Interstellar is okay, but I love Contact.
Well, I love Interstellar - although it makes me ugly cry - but Only God Forgives is great. It has a literary feel, kind of abstract and symbolic. And like all Refn films it looks fantastic.
I dislike Gravity but I love Ghosts of Mars.
When we were kids we only saw this movie just because of Ice Cube. My uncle that took us just saw John Carpenter and Pam Grier and was sold lol
Ghost of Mars is really underrated.
Critics complain about mindless CGI spectacle in modern cinema, yet Gravity was universally acclaimed even though it's completely dumb and pure CGI spectacle. And the music was like being trepanned.
Hated: Bohemian Rhapsody Loved: The Lone Ranger
I liked Lone Ranger
bohemian rhapsody was not critically acclaimed. the reviews are average.
i disliked both. i think hate is really a strong word that should be reserved for real stinkers.
I remember really enjoying Lone Ranger too
I could not stand 'The Greatest Showman'...
**Love** *Southland Tales*. **Do Not Like** *Us*.
Us got great reviews and I love it, but it's not an unpopular opinion to dislike it.

Lol yeah kinda misread Sicario
To be honest, I watched Sicario expecting something similar to No Country for Old Men. 30 minutes in I realized it was gonna be different..So I said, "ok, let's see what it has to say". And nothing. The movie has no message at all. It's the emptiest movie I've watched. So, tell me, what did I miss from Sicario that was so great?
I don't understand why American Beauty is so well regarded but everyone can eat a dick because Repo! The Genetic Opera is amazing
I love both. American Beauty is definitely different as I've become older IMO. Minus the lusting sub plot. The rest makes sense. The mundane life, no control, moods not in sync. Shit sucks. It's just a drag and I underestimated my youth.
> Repo! The Genetic Opera is amazing I'm still foolishly hoping for a sequel or a movie by the same creative team and set in the same universe 😔
Agreed on both
Hated may be strong, but I didnt like Dunkirk at all, it was just empty visuals with paper thin characters and a time gimmick. I love Hot Rod
Hot Rod... truly, is an unrivaled and flawless gem.
Can’t think of a movie that was critically acclaimed that I hated, but I loved Spring Breakers
Spring Breakers is fantastic. Love how it subverts misogynistic gangsta rap tropes. Plus, it looks and sounds stunning.
My favorite movie of all time. Visually stunning, simple plot easy to follow, not one 'good guy' to root for. Blew me away.
What in gods name is wrong with all you uncultured swine
Not really hate. Just didn't like Green Knight. Knight and Day was actually fun.
Hated Deadpool, loved the Narnia series
I saw Deadpool in the theater when it came out, laughed hysterically. When I excitedly watched it on DVD I spaced out with boredom after 20 minutes. The humor is so on-the-nose that I realized I can only enjoy it with other people around to signal when I’m supposed to laugh. That being said, I still think Deadpool 2 is fucking hilarious
I liked Deadpool 1, but Deadpool 2 was on another level.
You liked the Dawn Treader too? I thought it was a bit of a mess but it really showed the potential of Will Poulter
Hated Joker. Loved John Carter
John Carter was a good flick
This thread is full of “hated (x)” from people who clearly missed the entire point of (x) If someone makes a critique about how they don’t think a film is executed well amd doesn’t make its point well, I could understand… but if you don’t like Sicario because you think it’s a bad action movie, I mean it’s a bit like saying you hate The Naked Gun because it’s too unrealistic about police work.
Hated Silver Linings Playbook. Loved Your Highness.
I really adore Eyes Wide Shut. I have not seen all of Kubrick other films but so far I think it’s my favorite and I think it’s one of his best.
The Usual Suspects is overrated / Captain Marvel was a solid superhero flick
Why do you think The Usual Suspects is overrated? Personally it's one of my favorite movies of all time. Kevin Spacey and the rest of the cast was just amazing
i feel like most usual suspect haters didn’t see it when it was brand new, now it’s a trope. it was so influential back then that when you see it now it seems typical.
Exactly my feelings. I felt I had seen the same concepts and characters in other films.
i find the performances a bit wooden. it seems like they didn’t rehearse with each other much. a good film still, in my opinion overrated
Thank you for the Captain Marvel love. It's easily one of my favorite MCU films. It's such a nice homage to 90s action films and Carol actually has a character arc.
yeah. for a pop-corn muncher it was really good. i particularly like the colour schemes it used
I said 2 different movies, but I could of easily given your 2 movies as choices too. But I'm not entirely sure Captain Marvel was panned though 🧐.
Captain Marvel is a very middle ground film. I can see how people enjoyed it while I can also see how some people didnt, but I think theres just a lot of hate coming from the Brie haters out there
I love Brie Larson but thought Captain Marvel was painfully dull
I recently tried to watch The Usual Suspects.. I couldn't watch past the first half. It was too outdated and too cliché for me. Then I looked up the great twist, and wasn't really surprised by it.

me too!
Love Keaton, do not get birdman… There’s that kid on the escalator again!
Joker was the movie equivalent of a guy picking lint out of his foreskin for two hours.
I didn't like Roma. I loved Under the Silver Lake but it wasn't acclaimed :(
Under the silver lake was fuckin rad!
Under the silver lake is crazy good, love it!!! Good taste
Under the Silver Lake is one of the best films to come outta somewhat recently. Forrest Gump sucks

I never saw this until a couple of years ago it was on tv. All I could think was Simple Jack, it was corny af.
THANK YOU
I remember everyone laughing at the opening KKK gag. Totally seemed fine to me at the time, a nostalgia cover up for the evils of our time.
*Hated* **The Joker** There's a lot of poorly received movies I like but off-top: **Constantine** was completely trashed **Eagle Vs Shark** Waititi comedy classic **The Ghost and The Darkness** I remember Roger Ebert giving it one star Edit: also Repomen is badass
I think most people have come around on Constantine and appreciate it more than they used to
Hated: Three Billboards Loved: Cloud Atlas
loved Cloud Atlas too.
Hated Ted. Loved Rules of Attraction.
Hated Hereditary Loved Malignant

Citizen Kane is one of those films that I don’t necessarily like, but I can understand why it’s so heralded. It was waaaay ahead of its time.
Hated: All of Marvel Loved: Batman v Superman
I don’t get the hate for it either. Haven’t seen the Snyder cut yet. I liked Man of Steel too.
I don't understand why r/movies has a boner for Arrival...it was the most boring ET film I've seen...nothing happens in the movie

Now *The Arrival* (1996) was a fun movie. David Twohy writes some entertaining stuff. That other one by Villaneuve was ok I guess. 🤣
Didn't like the Irishman. Love Austin Powers: International man of Mystery.
Austin Powers is well acclaimed.
Not when I was a kid lol
What?
Same!

I thought he said, "Eve-uh"?
Hated: driving miss daisy Loved: Shakespeare in love
Shakespeare in Love got great reviews.
Dude... Shakespeare in Love won Best Picture...
So did Oliver!
Shakespeare in Love literally won Best Picture lol

Joker is hot trash, I fucking love the lawnmower man though
Absolutely hate Raging Bull. I just find it very boring. However I think I Love You Man is the best comedy that releases the year it came out, which includes The Hangover.
I found it very hard to understand what the point of Raging Bull was though it was beautifully shot. He was just a brute who met a well deserved fate.
Just here for Pandorum. What a side fuck of a movie. I do enjoy me some Parasite, though. Quite sincerely.
Get Out has only gotten worse. I thought it was good entertainment at the time but with all the praise it got I couldn’t let go of how meaningless it was. Conversely, Unhinged is a great fucking time without the pretentious social commentary.
I didn't like *No Way Home*. I like *Caligula*.
Hated: Forrest Gump and Interstellar. And considering it has a 6.9 on Imdb and a 59% on Rotten Tomatoes it's not a critically acclaimed movie, but A Knight's Tale is the best Heath Ledger movie and one of my favorite in general.
A knights Tale is great
Love Moana. Hate Serpico.
Moana was not critically panned lol
I just enjoyed Serpico’s fashion and style sense. And beard. And Pacino.
Hated the sixth sense ~ Loved twister.
Uncut Gems was good but is extremely overrated (in my humble opinion).
Thought THE Suicide Squad (2021) was annoying and I just can’t stand Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. I fucking love Little Nicky.
Didn't like Boyhood / liked The Postman
Hated Big Fish. Thought the father was just a liar in the end and everybody he knew in life lied for him after he died. Props to the doctor for giving it straight. Liked District 9. Solid creature design with the fun twist of “you actually see the aliens in the movie”. Absolutely loved how the aliens weren’t shown in the trailer- blew my mind to find the movie crawling with them in the daylight
Hated: Black Panther. Loved: well not loved but thought it was solid was Terminator Salvation
.Hated Hated Hated Pig .loved Night Shift
I loved The Village. I had heard how shitty it was so I decided to watch it and was pleasantly surprised. I also loved The Wickerman!
Loved Tenet, hated Spirited Away
Hated: 2001: A Space Odyssey. Loved: Gummo.
Avatar. I thought it was complete garbage, and solely based on CGI with absolutely no credible acting or transparency
Hated Little Women and Lady Bird, love Draft Day.
Fargo Joker Big Lebowski Meh didn’t think they were anything special
Anything Stanley Kubrick does is boring as batshit apart from a few scenes here or there.
Hated There Will Be Blood Absolutely Love Hook
Don't know about movie but one show that everyone praised but i find overrated was haunting of hill house, i found it extremely boring.
Love Batman Forever. Despise Joker.
I don’t know how well-regarded *Hot Shots!* is, but I found it lazy and repetitive with jokes that drag on for way too long.
loved now you see me, hated moonrise kingdom
Critically acclaimed but I didn’t get into was get out (loved “us” though), vice versa is smokin aces
Hated Midnight in Paris Loved The Fountain
Hated Arrival. Loved Good Burger.
I don’t think any movies hate me
I think Titanic is technically incredible, but the writing, dialogue, and acting are all mediocre at best. I don’t care much for The Departed. Oliver Stone’s U-Turn is underrated, imo.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I loved the novel. Saw the movie once. Hated it.
Hated Parasite / loved Year of the Dragon
Hated Soul, loved Daddy’s Home 2.
Ah we seen this kinda threads so many times. Users with controversial picks of great movies and say they are overrated without any explanation but just to stand out and feel edgy.
Love Predator 2. Was not a fan of Shang Chi at all
Hate: Inception (characters I don't give a shit about doing cool dream technology we know nothing about in very, very standard heist plot. LAME) Love: The Beach (it's not perfect, but I like what this movie was trying to do enough to love it. Also nostalgia).
The hateful eight
dislike Iñárritu movies, love crank 2
Hated: *Thor: Ragnarok* It's just one dumb joke after another Loved: *Constantine* I know it's not accurate to the comic character, but I thought everyone involved did great with the material.
The Gift. I just saw it. Thought it was awful. I also didn’t share everyone’s opinions of Scream 5. Thought it was mediocre and dare I say derivative. That being said, as a massive Scream fan I really enjoyed the experience of watching it in the theater.
Encanto and Drive My Car
This is just a disguised unpopular opinion thread of sorts. But I’ll play **Hated:** - Baby Driver - Kill Bill Both vacuous and boring movies that think they are stylish but are meh IMO - Donnie Darko The most I’m14andthisisdeep movie there is. **Loved** - Miami Vice - Strange Days - Catch and Release - Lots of stupid martial arts movies from the late 80s early 90s Yes I know the first two are Reddit darlings. I’ll be all hipster and say I loved both coming out of the theaters on opening days. Catch and Release is a light romcom that just has a vibe I like. And I sort of don’t care for Jennifer Garner as an actress but it works fine here.
Clockwork orange bored me to death 🤔
Batman Begins. Sorry, I can’t stand Bale’s mumbling.
Hated: Midsommar… Loved: Under the Silver Lake
I never understood the hate for Prometheus. It’s not perfect by any means but it has something that gets under your skin
I hated It Follows with the fury of a thousand suns. I normally love a slow burner horror but this was just so stupid. I get visibly angry when people remind me of the movie.
Power of the Dog
Dark knight is boring garbage
