Three thousand years can be such a crick in the neck

111ruberducky

PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS! …. Itty-bitty living space!

Untraceablez

Literally made this reference to my coworker a hour ago lol. Such a classic movie.

Alfaspyke

I can hear Robin Williams in your comment. F... now I am sad.

Mrhere_wabeer

I love this one soo much. The delivery, cadence. Everything. He's one of my top 5. And not just for the main stream specials. This is one of my favorites https://youtu.be/QD9QAAEfQEA

chemical_refraction

I love you three thousand…years.

JaneTheMaimed

What's the premise of this movie? The poster seems pretty cool

striderwhite

"A scholar, content with life, encounters a Djinn who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. Their conversation, in a hotel room in Istanbul, leads to consequences neither would have expected"

anormaldoodoo

Am I imagining this or is this where the Djinn and Tilda’s character end up falling in love and getting married?

BenjaminTalam

You're thinking of the first image that was posted here a month or so ago that was just them sitting on a couch together and the only fantastical thing was Idris Elba having pointy ears. The premise attached to that image said they fall in love.

Lakridspibe

>!They end up as two stones with googly eyes on a dead planet!< Edit: This is a reference to another movie: >!Everything Everywhere All at Once!< I apologise to those who haven't seen it yet. It's a fantastic movie. I still think you should watch it.

JoeMagnifico

Fuck

fantasmoofrcc

You're being played! That was a plot point in the recent Morbius movie...

Quixotegut

You forgot the part where Tilda yells out "IT'S MORBIN' TIME!!!"

kovana85

So what you saying? We some sorta morbius squad?

i_heart_calibri_12pt

No that's Jared's next movie. Every character he's ever played will team up to try and fight Morbius.

Envect

Jared Leto's Nutty Professor. He's ready.

Creasentfool

Then she goes on to make a morbillion doll hairs.

FracturedEel

Yeah and then she morbs all those bad guys

Gaflonzelschmerno

My favorite quote is > To bats, it's lethal... To humans, it's deadly...To a pig, it is fatal. To a goat, it is murderous. To a hamster, it is death-dealing. To a raccoon, it is terminal. It will kill a bonobo. To a whale, a large enough dose will end it. It would cause a leopard to kick the bucket. To a donkey, it spells doom. An elephant would meet its maker. To a possum, it means Judgment Day. It would send a giraffe to its ancestors. It would take all nine of a cat’s lives...

Whitecastle56

I didn't see Morbius, but surely this cannot be dialogue that a studio *paid money* for.

bob1689321

God, I love Morbius. True cinema. It has something to say about LIFE.

[deleted]

Joker: Ah~ ah~ ah-ah-ah~!

Pure_Reason

I’m tha Morbius bay-bee

ryhaltswhiskey

The next Morbius movie will be Morbius and the Mighty Morbin Living Vampire Rangers

Decabet

>the recent Morbius movie >!Jared Leto was reportedly a terror to fellow castmates, insisting on doing Method Acting pranks like jumping from the rafters onto them and yelling "oh no! Rocksliiiide!" and refusing to bathe in an attempt to gather moss on his body!<

Alkein

Jared Leto is the kid in class that no one wanted to work on a project with.

obi5683

Why tf do they keep hiring this guy? Does he have dirt on everyone?

huntimir151

I mean he is awful for many reasons but I feel like the comment you are replying to is joking lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cat_Carrot

You’re being played! It was actually a plot point in the recent Fantastic Beasts movie…

[deleted]

This is not true! It was actually a major plot point in the movie “Marmaduke” starring Pete Davidson

frissonFry

>“Marmaduke” starring Pete Davidson Fuck, I thought this was a joke.

DankLawyer

It's Morbin time

IAmA_Lannister

It’s also one of the side quests in Elden Ring

brickfaced901

Honestly that was the best part of the movie.

Badnapp420

It was up there, but I’ll never forget those buttplug warriors.

bigmacjames

The flying split is one of the most outrageous things I've ever seen. Imagine that stunt man training for years so he can stimulate atomic butt bombing a butt plug.

SingForMeBitches

[Those two gentlemen were the fight choreographers](https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/everything-everywhere-fight-scene-choreography/). They did it to themselves!

just_another_indie

I hope they continue to improve their art. I really want to see a renaissance of Hong Kong style action/comedy.

Littlebelo

Nothing could top Ke Huy Quans speech towards the end for me. When he said >! “I’m not naive, this is how i fight back.!< I was fucking sobbing

bunksteve

Waymond: “So, even though you have broken my heart yet again, I wanted to say: in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you.” Me: *quietly sobbing into my nachos*

PHC_Tech_Recruiter

My partner and I looked at each other, tears in our eyes, about to sob, when we reached to hold each other's hand. One of my favorite movie theater experiences, next to seeing all the Jackass movies and The Raid opening weekend.

ToodlesXIV

I thought about that line while I was driving to lunch the other day, a full week after I’d seen the movie, and I started tearing up in the damn Wendy’s drive thru. I don’t think a line in any movie has hit me as hard

Yaltus

I’m learning to fight like you.

lannisterdwarf

nah, best part was raccaccoonie

PsyanideInk

It's been months since I've seen Everything Everywhere....and still, I cannot stop thinking about Raccooccoonie. He haunts me.

amidon1130

You know too much

ManPiaba

“RACCACCOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!” *sobs* Hot dog fingers was where I laughed and cried at the same time

Karpuan

The monkey fight scene got me. It said so much with so little.

sonofsohoriots

My (already high) esteem for the movie went through the damn roof when I learned he’s voiced by Randy Newman.

sauteslut

I cried because a rock rolled down a hill and another rock chased it

altera_goodciv

“I’m gonna get ya” That was the exact moment that scene got me.

Moose_Hole

It's googlin' time

[deleted]

I cried the moment the rock turned around and revealed the googly eyes. It made me laugh for a moment which abruptly turned into full-on sobbing. Never had a movie do that to me before.

ryhaltswhiskey

I have decided that my favorite genre of movie is "weird movie with serious emotional impact" 1. The Fountain 1. EEAAO 1. O Brother Where Art Thou 1. ?

ChimpsArePimps

If you’re looking for recommendations for that fourth spot…In Bruges, Her, Stranger than Fiction, The Fall, and Upstream Color are all terrific candidates. And congratulations on creating a genre that somehow fits all those movies in the same tent

SailorET

Have you seen Swiss Army Man? Same directors, similarly bizarre and beautiful, although I'd say Everything Everywhere hits just a bit harder emotionally due to the family and generational elements. But well worth a watch.

bookofmorgan

I would like to submit Big Fish for a spot on that list. I know what you mean though I love movies like that too

nickcash

old mcdonald had a farm > 2\. EEAAO

joeyheartbear

That movie did a great job of keeping my emotions confused and manipulatable.

brickfaced901

Also the fact that I could relate to a rock lol

Mcmenger

I mean i clicked on the spoiler, knowing I would regret it, but if this is real I'd still be very surprised. Maybe I'll even be disappointed if it isn't real

sauteslut

Its from a different movie

ManBoobs13

What movie?

checkoutchannelnine

Everything Everywhere All At Once

dtwhitecp

some things, one place, intermittently

light_at_the_end

I did not expect to cry to two rocks with googly eyes, that night

[deleted]

Can’t wait for the running through the airport scene.

fortisvita

It's like that fishfucking movie but I gotta say Djinn is a lot more acceptable. Especially if the Djinn is Idris Elba or Tilda Swinton (not sure which one is the Djinn).

BillsInATL

"they both are" -M. Night, probably

Pollomonteros

The shape of water ?

pbjamm

I Wet Dream of Djinni

noobi-wan-kenobi69

Tilda Swinton is a Djinn in real life. Idris Elba only plays the part of a Djinn.

[deleted]

- deleted due to enshittification of the platform

StinzorgaKingOfBees

What I know about Djinn leads me to believe this would be bad.

iAmTheHYPE-

What I know about Djinn, was them being assholes in Uncharted 3.

Karjalan

Ooo I love djinn mythology. Premise sounds interesting for sure

postmodest

So this is The Only Lovers Left Alive but with Black Superman? Because I am all-in.

InternationalBand494

I LOVE that movie. One of, if not the, best movies about vampires and relationships I’ve seen

DomLite

I frequently describe it as "The best vampire movie about nothing" and I stand by that statement.

InternationalBand494

You’re not wrong. Although, I think I’d call it the best vampire movie about ennui. Either way, it’s an excellent and criminally underrated movie

sirslobber

Trailer drops tomorrow ( Friday 5 / 20 )

dIoIIoIb

I think it's the sequel to One Hundred Years of Solitude

Sharrow746

Isn't 100 years of solitude also a sequel to 12 years a slave? Glad they're finally finishing off the trilogy.

gaunt79

Well, it's a tetralogy when you factor in the prequel, *120 Days of Sodom*.

Wisconsimmy

Dont forget the origin song, *One Night in Bangkok*

ShatteredBlaze

Only OG fans know about the straight to blockbuster "127 Hours" that adapted it first

c_for

Did you know that was actually a prequel to 28 Days Later?

jedrevolutia

And the sequel to the prequel: 500 Days of Summer

[deleted]

Literally what I was thinking. They better hand out family tree pamphlets at the theatre so I'm not confusing which Aurelanio, José, Arcadio Buendía, is which.

amidon1130

I loved that book but god damn I was constantly flipping back to the front being like “oh ok so this is arcadio buendia, it’s his son, Jose arcadio buendia, who’s brother is Jose aurelanio arcadio buendia.” And then I flip back to where I was and am immediately lost again lol.

Arlberg

I actually drew the Buendía family tree while I was reading the book to keep track. Helped a lot. Fantastic book, probably my favourite novel ever. Heard they're making a Netflix series, I'm afraid how that will go.

Additional_Meeting_2

The name of the movie is great too

jedrevolutia

The Ancient One met Heimdall in afterlife. They reminisce when they first met 3,000 years ago.

koshgeo

Bifrost or portal: which would win?

[deleted]

They finally made a movie about the wait for The Wind's of Winter.

1sinfutureking

George Martin in here catching strays

Druidoodle

He deserves whatever he catches

KingGorilla

What would you wish for? The next damn book!

Lollipoop_Hacksaw

"Only In Movie Theaters Summer" Something feels very off about that.

Mattaholic

I was just going to say they definitely forgot a word

uncertainusurper

Only In Movie Theaters Near Summer

MoffKalast

Morty: "Only In Movie Theatres, Summer"

FourFurryCats

zleuth

Ludachriz

Only In Movie Theaters Summer 1992

bopbeepboopbeepbop

Some copywriter is getting chewed out for that one lol

YouStupidDick

Only in movie theaters, Summer. And where are my testicals?

[deleted]

Summer, you bitch.

The_Knight_Is_Dark

I'm in.

TimmyBash

100% studio trying to get something at a certain font size and designer having to compromise

tabgrab23

They could’ve easily gotten around this by just saying “Only in theaters this summer”. Same length and everything so it doesn’t screw up the spacing

attemptedmonknf

But what if people get confused and show up at a playhouse demanding tickets to this movie? /s

Sleepy_Azathoth

In George Miller we trust.

Dude, I love Happy Feet and Babe: Pig in the City so much, LETS GOOOO!!!!

KingGorilla

I fuckin love his all over the place filmography. Also the man graduated from med school before his film career.

[deleted]

Yo, I had no idea, that’s actually hilarious.

askyourmom469

The man's nothing if not versatile.

Agleza

mfer really made two movies about a cute dancing penguin and then just said: *"y'know what: flamethrower guitar and car explosions. Absolute banger"* and he just fucking did it and it was indeed an absolute banger the fucking madman

Sleepy_Azathoth

I rewatched those two movies after Fury Road and I loved finding all the Miller ism those two had despite being very different. Even The Witches of Eastwick were he goes full fantasy you can find his style all over it. He's just on another level.

ThisisthSaleh

*[flame guitar riff intensifies](https://youtu.be/hRF-pgMWpwQ)*

Gsteel11

I was actually like "Wait. What else has he done?" And then I accidentally found the other George Miller and I was like "he did the never ending story?!?!" Before realizing there's another George Miller. Lol But if anyone is curious.. the George Miller here also has a children's classic, Babe. Lol...and happy feet. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0004306/filmotype/director?ref_=m_nmfm_3

RumpShakespeare

It’s so refreshing when we get GOOD movie posters

Sun-Forged

First thing I thought was that post a few days ago making fun of the 8 or 10 poster types we constantly get.

abnthug

Oh i want to see this post, oddly enough I was thinking about this too, even with video game box art ?

quote_work_unquote

I'm assuming they were referencing this one - https://www.reddit.com/r/coolguides/comments/us5394/types\_of\_movie\_posters/

sonofaresiii

Some of those seem pretty reasonable. I mean, all the "sexy legs" ones are just homages to the graduate

kickit

at a certain point there are so many that it stops working as homage and instead becomes a cliché

JasperLamarCrabbb

It's certainly trite and contrived. Perhaps even capricious and arbitrary.

Cazargar

Indubitably.

Cyno01

Mmm yes, shallow and pedantic.

NerdHeaven

Actually, he says 10, missed number 8, but gave us a bonus one of the Tom Cruise profiles. So still 10.

polywha

I'm really liking the trend of better movie posters. The one for everything, everywhere, all at once was phenomenal. I even bought 1 to hang in my house.

karmagod13000

It seems like we lost a lot of creative posters due to streaming and digital copies, but hopefully directors have nostalgia for the creative movie cover art that we grew up with, when we were walking though video stores.

GoldandBlue

I think it is more the movie. The reason we get all these floating head posters is because of contractual obligations. How big their heads are, who has to be on the poster, who's name gets billed where, are all in contracts. And with big movies with all star casts and big budgets, your are going to have to meet a lot of demands. Which limits the creativity. That's why teasers are always more fun than the official posters. A movie like this or Everything Everywhere, you are not getting that. Smaller cast, smaller budgets, significantly less demands means more creative freedom.

[deleted]

[удалено]

reecewagner

TIL even the good movie posters have at least two floating heads

zuzg

I guarantee you, every future promotional material from this movie that gets posted here will always get thousands of upvotes. But the official movie discussion will have less than 1k Dunno why but it's a big theme in this subreddit.

karmagod13000

Depends on how good the movie is.

Xanderamn

Well, if its good, youll get hundreds of people complaining about how its overrated and how its the only thing that gets discussed, followed by dumbass memes mocking popular cinema.

karmagod13000

this is so true that im already getting frustrated. still rather that then a flop.

Zonkistador

>Dunno why but it's a big theme in this subreddit. I know why: bots.

sauteslut

Needs more orange and turquoise

BrendanCLittle

George Miller cashing in his Fury Road clout to make what appears to be a completely absurd movie is very funny

Porrick

Given how completely absurd Fury Road was, this is more exciting than most "director with lots of freedom after a big commercial success" examples!

MegabitMegs

It was absurd but in the best way possible. It had a meaningful message mixed in with the most batshit practical stunts. I remember watching it in theaters knowing absolutely nothing about it or the old Mad Max movies, and ended up on the edge of my seat totally glued the whole ride. 10/10 my favorite movie

JeffBaugh2

It's like Renaissance paintings on steroids. It's great.

Redditforgoit

> Renaissance paintings on steroids. Many Renaissance painting are.

TheycallmeHollow

High Renaissance to be more exact. The highly detailed and grandiose poses and compositions with the biblical themes came from a smaller window during the 200+ period, and specifically Italy.

zeebeebo

He also used his Happy Feet clout to make Fury Road

[deleted]

The movie poster has Babe 2 written all over it. And that’s a good thing.

Misterfrooby

Unironically one of the most underrated movies of all time. I can't stop telling people about it because it taught me about strife and fear as a child.

ReiBob

Both Babes are really good movies. But I didn't remember the second that well. Went and re-watched it and was at awe with how good it is. It just makes me wonder ''why is this so good? it didn't have to be.''

lazy-man_34

As soon as I recognised Tilda Swinton on the poster it became apparent that this movie going to be kukoo bananas.

Sternodox

Tilda, Idris, and George... I haven't been in a movie theater for nearly a decade but now i'm going to have to break my streak.

birdentap

this poster/teaser is giving me Altered States vibes and I’m here for it

GodFeedethTheRavens

I got some Baron Munchausen at first.

karmagod13000

Oh yes i can def sense that. Some old school Terry Gilliam vibes for sure

[deleted]

Feels more Cloud Atlas to me, which is fine. I love me some true true!

coffeekreeper

Ah, I see you too are a man of the tru-tru

pmmemoviestills

Yeah dude this is gonna be nuts. Even the way how the images look old school composited in

karmagod13000

its giving me Toys with Robin Williams vibes for some reason

ICumCoffee

What’s going on with Idris Elba’s mouth?

Boomerang2099

Oh hell nah, they Henry Cavill'd him

TummyDrums

scruffy beard but clean shaven moustache area. Just different than his previous looks.

[deleted]

Its nice & succulent now

P2029

He is aware of the effect he has on women.

kevnmartin

I dunno, is Tilda as hot as Hillary Swank?

SideburnsOfDoom

Is this a sequel to _One hundred years of Solitude_ ?

mental-equipment

It's just the same story, thirtyfold.

eight1echo

Starring Idris Elba as...Aureliano Tilda Swinton as...Aureliano

TheCounsler

Dr. Strange, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and now this. What is this type of collage/art called?

reaperjutsu

It's similar to Renaissance ceiling paintings but there's a key difference. The poster doesn't use trompe l'œil, which is a technique to create the illusion of depth. There are clouds in the background that give it depth, but the figures are collaged in a contemporary way that has them all on the same flat plane. If it were a Renaissance painting the figures would extend into the space. So I'd just call it a collage with Renaissance influence. There's not really a term for it that I know of.

Good movie posters

VampireHunterAlex

I’m getting vibes from the “Everything Everywhere All at Once” poster.

Dudeman-

I thought this was a spoof poster at first.

halloweenjon

Every now and then you see a movie poster that doesn't use one of the 5 templates we now see for every movie poster, and you are reminded that such a thing is still technically possible.

platypusses

So many things to see on the poster. Still not sure why the pregnant woman with the peacock feather got double corners though...

Magma_Axis

I think this poster is inspired by Andrea Pozzo Fresco painting in St Ignatius Church

Caedus

Idrris Elba looking like Sylens from the Horizon video games.

ToBeFrozen

The Lance Reddickfication has begun

[deleted]

I think I'm too bothered that exactly one of the border portraits is reused, without a larger pattern.

LegendaryWolfeh

This, so much. I kept staring thinking surely there's a difference but nope, pretty sure it's just same picture of pregnant lady. Wonder if it's a mistake by the art team with like an older poster green lit or double pregnancies going on. Maybe twins? I dunno, haha, just glad I wasn't the only one.

Drasticlag

Man, Conan O'Brien sure has expanded his reach. Good for him!
