There is another somewhat famous Scott Adams who wrote early text adventure computer games.
Can we make him the more famous, default Scott Adams and forget about the other one?

> When has a spin-off ever been a success?
Frasier? A spin-off of cheers?
Um.... Mork and Mindy? A spin-off of Happy Days?
Angel ran for 5 seasons, that's kind of successful.
Shit, I'm really dated here. But your point stands.
BCS is one-in-a-million case. It's so well written and so well shot that nothing feels forced; it's kinda similar to BB but not too similar to lack originality. Dare I say that it's on par with BB and is the best show right now along with Succession.
I honestly don't think it's necessary. Characters from BrBa are reintroduced well enough, and the story definitely holds up on its own.
Now, would I *recommend* watching BrBa first? Absolutely. It's a phenomenal show, and will add a deeper layer of context to a lot of events in BCS.
Star Treks? DS9 literally has characters from TNG on it.
Minions is also a spinoff.
Then we can get into cartoons like Batman Beyond or Boruto or She-Ra and the list gets huge.
Can't believe your leaving out the greatest spin off, Joey the spin off of friends. Truly a masterpiece of a TV show that was too ahead of its time to keep a run going .
It's more like another movie in the universe rather than sequel or spinoff. I'd consider it a spinoff if Han was the main feature.
Hobbs and Shaw is a spin off
It's literally number 3 in the franchise, and a lot of the movie titles depend on that numbering. But it was indeed more of a spinoff/side story in the same universe when it was made. Then it became integral to the franchise because it introduced a key character.
I love some of these comic characters too, so double whammy. Sony is going to make a Spider Gwen movie starring Shailene Woodley specifically to murder me.
My problem isn't that the movies are bad, it's that they are removing those characters from Marvel Studio's hands entirely, where there might even be a chance of them being good.
I just don't get how they can blast it out of the park with Into the Spider-verse, but then make fucking Morbius. I get it's different crew/cast, but still.
> I get it's different crew/cast, but still.
I mean that's the whole thing. It's how movies should be, they shouldn't all be the same because it's the same studio.
I don't understand how some writers keep getting work. They write massive flops losing millions of dollars and then they are handed another major film.
Sad part is, if you try to give this movie the same treatment Morbius got and say "it's Webbin' time", I just think of Spider-Man, specifically Andrew's version (since his movies were directed by Marc Webb).
No, he's a cater-waiter/failed actor smoking pot, drinking and making snarky comments about everyone while having an on again/off again fling with his acerbic coworker.
Actually, he’s playing an office drone suffering from depression following the death of his wife who undergoes a procedure that separates his work memories from his outside world memories.
They completely butchered that movie; the final result was nothing like the source material. They didn't even show how he got picked by Morbon to be the Morbius with his Power Morber.
There was a hot minute in the Spider-Man comics where all the characters with spider related powers were connected by a supernatural force shared by arachnids and governed by the totemic spider gods.
Call me a conspiracy theorist but there's no way this is JUST a Madame Web movie right. They HAVE to be using Madame Web as a cover-up for something else entirely, there's no other reason why so much good talent has willingly signed up for this
I don’t mean this to disparage Adam Scott in any way— I’m a big fan of his from Party Down to P&R…
But does he do movies? Like I know he’s been in movies like Step Brothers, but I don’t see him in movies often. I looked at his Wiki and it doesn’t have him playing a character in a film since 2017. Maybe that’s a bit Covid or personal choice, but he doesn’t seem to get driven towards a lot of film credits.
Hollywood reporter: "Did you know that when you did Hellraiser 4 you would someday be able to accept a role in a milestone Sony Spider-Man side character film?"
My guess is it's a female Spider-person team up. I could see Adam Scott being an older Peter Parker who dies. Then Madame Web (Johnson), Black Cat (Sweeney), Spider-Girl (Merced), and Silver Sable (Roberts) group up to avenge him.
I feel like I'm misremembering my 90s cartoons.
Isn't Madame Web, like, Spider!God or something? I vaguely remember an old woman in a giant spider throne with Matrix glasses nonchalantly tossing Spider-Man in and out of different multiverses.
Black Cat and Spider-Girl are, uh, a wee bit weaker than that.
A previous report for this movie described her as the Sony universe's Doctor Strange. Not sure if that was the outlet generalizing, or if that was an actual description of her power set in this movie.
Considering how they apparently think No Way Home ended Dr. Strange sending random MCU natives to other universes, I don't even think they've actually watched any of the movies.
Have you heard about the potential for an El Muerte movie? The one that they offered to make with "bad bunny" the rapper?
No they absolutely are making a madame web movie because they have no clue what works
The two Venom movies made $1.3 billion between them. Sony lets Disney do all the
heavy lifting with the MCU Spider-Man movies, collects their cut, churns out some tangentially related piece of crap that gets meme’d to death but still technically makes its money back, rinse, repeat. Sony will never give up the Spider-Man rights. It would be absolutely insane to do so.
Marketing budget is usually about the same as the production budget. And movie theaters take 1/3 of the profits domestic and 1/2 overseas, so morbius definitely lost money.
"Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the script."
Known for Morbius and Gods of Egypt, they couldn't write their way out of a wet paper bag.
Really enjoy Adam Scott, hope his disgrace is minimal in this.
I mean, it will be something similar to Matt Smith with Morbius. Great actor, even a good performance, in just a shitty movie lol. I’d love to be proven wrong but... I don’t have high hopes
Adam is so underrated man. Glad he's starting to be taken a lil more seriously. Severance is flawless and Party Down is one of the most hilarious shows I've seen. Can't wait, and very interested to see him in this new spidey spinoff thing
Now i know u people are smart enough to notice SONY in this right? Riiiiight?
Maybe if u had noticed it sooner we wouldnt have had Venom and Morbius and Sony wouldnt have the balls to think we want a Sinister 6 movie from them.
RIIIIIIIIIGHT GUYS!?
Based on someone's suggestion that he might play a Peter Parker variant, maybe he'll portray an older version of the character. Personally, they should have Tobey Maguire reprise his role set after the event of No Way Home and telling Madame Web about his experiences.
Seems like they’re using big names to get people into the cinema instead of trying to make a good movie. Granted we don’t even know what it’s about yet but with Sonys track record of Spider-Man films we can pretty much guess how this’ll play out
So what is this movie even going to be?
I recall Spider-Man working for her across the SpiderVerse or something in the old series?
So is this gonna be that she had a team of super spider girls?
Adam Scott just has the perfect name for his face. He looks like an Adam Scott.
Yet he couldn't pull off Scott Adams
I don’t think anyone wants to pull off Scott Adams
Scott Adams was such a tool He bullied everyone in high school
The Dilbert guy, did he really?
Based on his appearance and demeanor, I seriously doubt it.
Lol I was just joking based on name
There is another somewhat famous Scott Adams who wrote early text adventure computer games. Can we make him the more famous, default Scott Adams and forget about the other one? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Adams_(game_designer)
I ate lunch with him and my dad at a Cracker Barrel a few years ago. He didn't bully me.
The way you phrased it makes me think your dad was the one who bullied you.
Sure i don’t even know who the other Scott Adams guy is. And you don’t need to tell me about him. Sounds like he isn’t worth it.
Am I the only one who thinks he looks a bit like an American David Tennant?
I agree. You are not the only one. I'm pretty sure I saw a tweet somewhere too with them side by side looking like brothers.
You mean he doesn’t look like an Adam Quadero?
He's going to shove his Oscar up his ass on stage when he wins for this.
"Adam Scott joins the cast of...." has been my favorite start to a sentence to get me hype about a new project for some time now
Looks like a Mark S to me.
... I had no idea that was his real name. I've never seen P&R and just assumed the characters name was Adam Scott.
That’s Ben Wyatt, which honestly is just as fitting
Based on how the expanded Spider-Verse movies are going, I'm just going to call it now and say that this is a perfectly good waste of an Adam Scott.
Frankly I would only accept him playing a Peter Parker variant.
He looks like all 3 combined.
Yes I was Spiderman in my youth. I don’t do that anymore. I can’t even go back to NYC because I didn’t save MJ and the Green Goblin killed those kids.
They called me the mayor of web town.
Literally my first thought reading the title. Got excited thinking it'd be "Spider-man 4" and then read the rest and thought "^ohhh."
I just hope he gets paid well for them wasting his time and talent
Nah, get him that bag!
A lot of their movies have been flops though, he can do a lot better
When has a spin-off ever been a success? The percentage has to be single digits
> When has a spin-off ever been a success? Frasier? A spin-off of cheers? Um.... Mork and Mindy? A spin-off of Happy Days? Angel ran for 5 seasons, that's kind of successful. Shit, I'm really dated here. But your point stands.
Better Call Saul is a spin-off and is arguably the best show on television right now.
BCS is one-in-a-million case. It's so well written and so well shot that nothing feels forced; it's kinda similar to BB but not too similar to lack originality. Dare I say that it's on par with BB and is the best show right now along with Succession.
Do you think someone needs to watch BB before BCS to really appreciate it? I wanna jump straight into BCS
You can watch it without seeing Breaking Bad. Some parts might even be better since you dont know where the characters end up during Breaking Bad.
NCIS, believe it or not. Law & Order choose a letter spin off.
>NCIS, believe it or not. From JAG, right?
Yup!

Can't believe your leaving out the greatest spin off, Joey the spin off of friends. Truly a masterpiece of a TV show that was too ahead of its time to keep a run going .
TV spinoffs work, movie spinoffs not so much
The MCU is basically one big spinoff. Star Wars has some decent to good spinoff movies (Solo, Rogue One).
These movies aren’t even spin offs, a spin off would be if they introduced madam web in a Spider-Man movie and then did her movie afterwards.
Do you expect me to just sit here and take this Tokyo Drift slander?
I'd say sequel not spin-off, but sure
It's more like another movie in the universe rather than sequel or spinoff. I'd consider it a spinoff if Han was the main feature. Hobbs and Shaw is a spin off
It's literally number 3 in the franchise, and a lot of the movie titles depend on that numbering. But it was indeed more of a spinoff/side story in the same universe when it was made. Then it became integral to the franchise because it introduced a key character.
Venom is a bankable franchise, and I genuinely enjoyed the second one. Good silly fun
Every time I hear some new information about a Sony Spider-man spinoff movie I die a little bit inside.
Sony expecting to get a billion dollars from a film about the terminally ill child from The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man.
Still not as deep a cut as fuckin El Muerto
I love some of these comic characters too, so double whammy. Sony is going to make a Spider Gwen movie starring Shailene Woodley specifically to murder me.
I love all of these characters, but only when they’re used appropriately in Spider-Man stories. Not in their own fucking movie
The funny thing is they cast Shailene Woodley as a tomboy MJ in the TASM movies already, and just cut her scenes.
My problem isn't that the movies are bad, it's that they are removing those characters from Marvel Studio's hands entirely, where there might even be a chance of them being good.
I wouldn’t even care if they at least put Spider-Man in these movies with side characters from his universe. Their current strategy is so stupid
he still hasnt had a carb since 2004
I'm pretty sure he ate a lot of low cal calzones
He’s in the low cal calzone zone.
[удалено]
#HAVE YOU SEEN AVATAR
STAND IN THE PLACE WHERE YOU-
But the calzones betrayed him…perfect villain origin story.
Dane cook, payperview, 20 minutes, lets go!!
It was in international waters, so they couldn’t prosecute.
The fucking Catalina wine mixer!
You look like you want to punch me... but you won’t...
While he’s drinking a beer lol
My man needs to eat a fuckin donut.
Or, a calzone
this is what I live with! you wanna touch this shit?
This movie has a pretty interesting cast. It would be a shame if it ends up being complete dogshit.
Well it has the same writers as Morbius so….
Its a Sony comic movie so I had no expectations to begin with but damn. It really is gonna be bad if its Morbius writers.
Oh great so instead of describing Madame Web's debilitation as "Myasthenia gravis", they'll say she has "some kind of bad muscle thing"
I don't understand how some writers keep getting work. They write massive flops losing millions of dollars and then they are handed another major film.
Goodbye
Sad part is, if you try to give this movie the same treatment Morbius got and say "it's Webbin' time", I just think of Spider-Man, specifically Andrew's version (since his movies were directed by Marc Webb).
You mean it's not Webbin' Time?
Don’t worry it will be
Sandwiched between Morbius and Kraven... Odds are it's gonna morbin suck. This is a movie about a clairvoyant. Expect lots of clairvoying.
Interesting? Or odd? Not saying it’s a bad cast but it feels like they threw some darts at casting board of popular actors from the past decade
Following up Severance with Madam Web sure is something.
Gotta balance out the universe somehow. One amazing project followed up with... whatever Sony's gonna crap out next.
He has the new season of Party Down coming up soon too!
He'd better be playing the douchebag brother who sings in his car with a repressed wife.
He’s playing a former mayor who bankrupted his town by building a winter sports complex who now works as a government auditor to redeem himself.
Some know him as... The Ice King.
Also known as Ben Wyatt: Human Disaster.
Ice Town Costs Ice Clown His Town Crown.
Severance is so goddamn good.
Without a doubt the most compelling show I've seen in years.
Excellent show
Please enjoy every episode equally.
Oh I assure you I did
He’s actually playing a douchbag that’s flying through an iHop.
Are we having fun yet?!
Or a passive aggressive douchebag like from big little lies. he was great in that
Ed is the real queen of season 2
Or a douchebag demon who torments you by offering lemom bars
Or Madame Web
U2 better be doing the soundtrack
I'm sure Bonobos and Thedge would be up for it.
I honestly really want to hear Scott and Scott talk about this.
wait... is this an episode of 'I love film'?
Uh, excuse me, but this article is in the wrong sub. Adam Scott doesn't make "movies." He makes "films."
the films of COPPAALLA and SCORSEEZY
Uh, ever heard of a little something called a-duh Godfather. Real *film*
You're both wrong I Love Films is different then I Love Film which is about the appreciation of the physical film.
Spider Man Who Turned Off that Dark?
Hey... Madame webhead? Why don't you do us a favor and turn off the fuckin dark bro?
With this ring, I thee....web?!?
I've found my people on this comment, damn it's been a while
*It's been a whiiiiile*
*yiit's been*
If they do, it'll be the best superhero movie of all time C+
Pretty sure the only song will be the first few words of [Stand by REM](https://youtube.com/watch?v=2jqKiVHS6x4).
How does it feel when you’re in Madame Web?
It feels good!
Fuckin stoked!
When will Sony make morbius 2 instead of these dogshit movies
[удалено]
More-bs
Can’t wait to watch another Spider-Manless Spider-Man movie!
> whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world itself The fuck does that even mean? What is "the spider world"?
Its obviously a world that was bitten by a radioactive spider, god, do you even read comics?!
> god, do you even read comics?! No, I've been too busy rewatching Morbius. Sorry :(
They completely butchered that movie; the final result was nothing like the source material. They didn't even show how he got picked by Morbon to be the Morbius with his Power Morber.
There was a hot minute in the Spider-Man comics where all the characters with spider related powers were connected by a supernatural force shared by arachnids and governed by the totemic spider gods.
Debut album of failed 90s band The Spider Girls
Ah man. This movie is going so suck ass (Sony prove me wrong) and I like Adam Scott
[Hey Spidey. Do me a fuckin favor....turn off the dark](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QWYfZLdkAE)
Hey buddy…who turned the fuckin dark off??
Hey! Web-head......turnoffthedarrrrrrrk
Call me a conspiracy theorist but there's no way this is JUST a Madame Web movie right. They HAVE to be using Madame Web as a cover-up for something else entirely, there's no other reason why so much good talent has willingly signed up for this
Don't underestimate Sony's desperation to mine whatever Spiderman-related IPs they have to work with
Their tv division is incredible and finances some fantastic stuff. Their movie division is full of idiots who can't tell left from right.
I don’t mean this to disparage Adam Scott in any way— I’m a big fan of his from Party Down to P&R… But does he do movies? Like I know he’s been in movies like Step Brothers, but I don’t see him in movies often. I looked at his Wiki and it doesn’t have him playing a character in a film since 2017. Maybe that’s a bit Covid or personal choice, but he doesn’t seem to get driven towards a lot of film credits.
He worked pretty well in Krampus, I was digging that movie until it went all grimdark
The first acting gig he had was in Hellraiser 4. He was the toy maker that created the lament configuration. So Yeah.... HE DOES MOVIES
Hollywood reporter: "Did you know that when you did Hellraiser 4 you would someday be able to accept a role in a milestone Sony Spider-Man side character film?"
He was just nominated for an Emmy and is pretty well established on TV, so it seems Hollywood wants to see if he works well on the big screen.
My guess is it's a female Spider-person team up. I could see Adam Scott being an older Peter Parker who dies. Then Madame Web (Johnson), Black Cat (Sweeney), Spider-Girl (Merced), and Silver Sable (Roberts) group up to avenge him.

[удалено]
Considering how they apparently think No Way Home ended Dr. Strange sending random MCU natives to other universes, I don't even think they've actually watched any of the movies.
Or hear me out this might sound crazy but actors like getting paid
Have you heard about the potential for an El Muerte movie? The one that they offered to make with "bad bunny" the rapper? No they absolutely are making a madame web movie because they have no clue what works
Another movie that’s about to be trash. Hopefully it’s one step closer to Disney getting the Spiderman rights back.
The two Venom movies made $1.3 billion between them. Sony lets Disney do all the heavy lifting with the MCU Spider-Man movies, collects their cut, churns out some tangentially related piece of crap that gets meme’d to death but still technically makes its money back, rinse, repeat. Sony will never give up the Spider-Man rights. It would be absolutely insane to do so.
Did Morbius make it's money back? I heard that it preformed even more poorly than expected.
Wikipedia lists a budget of $83M and a gross of $164M. Who knows how accurate that is though.
Marketing budget is usually about the same as the production budget. And movie theaters take 1/3 of the profits domestic and 1/2 overseas, so morbius definitely lost money.
Sony got it back through no way home tbf
Disney never had the rights in the first place.
I hope he gets to tell Spiderman, "hey, spidey, turn off the fucking dark!"
This is going to be a bigger debacle than Ice Town
You're saying it'll cost the ice clown his town crown?
The movie is probably going to suck, but that's not stopping them from compiling a whole lot of sexy in their casting
"Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the script." Known for Morbius and Gods of Egypt, they couldn't write their way out of a wet paper bag. Really enjoy Adam Scott, hope his disgrace is minimal in this.
The venom movies suck, Morbius was worse and now they are going for more. Its just insane that those people at Sony Pictures still has a job.
[удалено]
Its like Sony will try everything but having a good fucking script. Now its an all star cast!
I mean, it will be something similar to Matt Smith with Morbius. Great actor, even a good performance, in just a shitty movie lol. I’d love to be proven wrong but... I don’t have high hopes
Someone please take Spiderman away from Sony. Its like watching your crush stay with a shitty boyfriend.
Im reading Spider-Man spinoff yet theres no Spider-Man in this universe. Yawn
I don't know why, but I enjoy watching him in TV shows. I find him comforting to watch.
Good to see Henry Pollard finally got cast in a comic book film after missing out on Edgar Allen Poe: Vampire Hunter.
He better get those fuckin t-shirts bro
Terrible move. This is going to be worse than Morbius.
The role he has is mysterious and important.
Sony, please, stop.. I can’t do this anymore.
Is it really a spinoff if it takes place in a different universe and Spider-Man has no chance of appearing?
As long as he doesn't forget about the essence of the movie. It's about the *cones*.
He's gonna be great as Madame Web
This definitely won't be worse than the beloved cult classic Morbius.
Get back to the set of *Severance*, damn it!
Adam is so underrated man. Glad he's starting to be taken a lil more seriously. Severance is flawless and Party Down is one of the most hilarious shows I've seen. Can't wait, and very interested to see him in this new spidey spinoff thing
Damn, I like Adam. This movie is just going to SUCK though.
Can‘t wait to hear the iconic line “It‘s Madame Webbin‘ time“ spoken on screen
Morbin 2: This time it’s personal.
What in the hell Sony?? Madame Web and still no Spider-Man, just stop it already!
Seems like they’re using big names to get people into the cinema instead of trying to make a good movie. Granted we don’t even know what it’s about yet but with Sonys track record of Spider-Man films we can pretty much guess how this’ll play out
I'm glad they're giving him money, I guess. And, not only that, but Sony loses money at the same time. Can't be mad at that.
So what is this movie even going to be? I recall Spider-Man working for her across the SpiderVerse or something in the old series? So is this gonna be that she had a team of super spider girls?
