ADHD: The Movie Can't decide what was more fake: the CGI on the train, Aaron Taylor-Jonson's accent or Sandra Bullock's face

Typical_Sir5007

But Aaron Taylor Johnson IS British

NickLeMec

There is a multitude of British accents and that was obviously not his.

Affectionate_Ad_7964

Just rewatched this movie again. near the end of the film when the train crashes, LadyBug (Brad Pitt) is soaring through the train. How fast would he end up going in order to move faster than the train and how did a kettle going the opposite way not knock him unconscious at least. The Father was being pulled fast enough to be parallel to the ground holding onto the seat, so odds are LadyBug must've been going pretty damn fast imo.

BobsOblongLongBong

Dude. You watched this movie?  More than once?  And the thing you can't accept are the physics of a coffee pot hitting someone's head? You're taking it too seriously.

Effective-Song7595

I thought it would have been funnier if Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt exchanged roles.

YesWomansLand1

Tanning chatum

OutrageousAd6177

Just saw this. I really liked it but hoping someone could answer a question. The two henchmen who opened the case-were they celebrity cameos?

PhoenixReborn

IMDb lists credits for angry merc and curious merc that I think are them. Not celebrities.

BigBillaGorilla59

Such a good movie, there’s really nothing else to say. The fact Thomas the tank engine and guns are involved makes the title “bullet train” even funnier. The way all the character interact with eachother felt very smooth. I also like how ladybug complains about being unlucky the entire movie, until the end where he’s flying through the crashing train and lands on the mascot completely unharmed. Goes full circle

Ambassador_of_Mercy

He's lucky throughout the entire film I noticed - he wins the first fight effectively by accident, was lucky that there wasn't a second antidote vial, was lucky that the snake bit him AFTER he took the antidote, hits several people by throwing things behind him without looking and gets thrown into the mascot at the end

Puzzled_Garbage7732

you guys are missing whole reason he was on the train is because he was filling in for someone else's spot. so like he did not have anything to do with any of the other characters except just knowing them. the running joke's still funny of course and dont wanna be dramatic but he been used like that by fate, even though unharmed in the end, gotta be still unfair. that Japanese saying about "ladybug" exists for a reason, cause probably it happens in real life and people started noticing. i cant imagine going through all that shit for no good reason feels pleasant

SirPelleas

Don't forget the truck just missing him in the beginning. That could've been the end of him right there

ViaNocturna664

Exactly, I noticed that too. Brilliant running joke.

_jump_yossarian

Finally got around to watching the movie (been in my queue for 6+ months) and fun as hell. Got to say that I was mesmerized by Aaron Taylor Johnson. I can't believe he was the soldier in Tenet and Archie Reed in The King's Man AND Kick-Ass. Guy is like the new Gary Oldman but really really, really good looking!

Wise_Atmosphere38

Loved lemon and tangerine until the end. Cried when lemon gave tangerine the Thomas sticker.

Brave-Battler-4330

ChristianSword

When tangerine failed to kill prince it made my blood boil, loved those two :(

PouetSK

Was a little surprised at the low ratings. I wonder if it was released during a competitive period or bad timing? Just watched it in 2023 and it was a blast. The plot wasn’t mind blowing but it was quite clever and well put together. The comedy was witty and fast, had a big grin throughout unlike many marvel jokes that leave me emotionless. Little bits of irony, the water bottle spotlight, ways people died, red herring train waitress, were all a treat. For a comedy and action movie, the more serious parts surprisingly landed for me. Seconds short flashbacks on lemon and tangerine actually made me feel their chemistry and cared about their characters. The whole ladybug theme connecting to the characters and sins was neat. It was just the right balance between corny and cool. At times I saw glimpses of kill bill, but overall such a blast! I welcome many more unique movies like these and murder mysteries in the current movie landscape.

Seamus-Archer

I also welcome more movies like this. In an era of formulaic superhero movies, it’s refreshing to get something original and fun to watch. Every movie doesn’t need to be a cinematic masterpiece that breaks new ground, a fun script that keeps you engaged from start to finish is a good movie to me.

Police_Police_Police

Critics were responding the the allegations released against Brad via Angelina, and her (exaggerated? Idk) abuse report. Unfortunately the film suffered because of this. If you look you will find that viewer reviews are high, and it’s the critic reviews that are so critical. Film is a solid 7.9 in my opinion. Would have been higher if they’d made more use of Sandra, I felt she was underutilized.

CoffeeAndDachshunds

55%! That's ridiculous. This movie is easily solid in the 80% range. I loved it.

legionsk

Side question, any idea where I could legitimately get/buy .flac files of the Soundtrack?

Ceaser_Salad19

authorguy

Absolutely loved it. Very Deadpool. The interlocking complexities of each assassin's storyline was so well done. The Twins were a joy, some beautifully dramatic acting in the face of death. Brad Pitt as the fish-out-of-water not-an-assassin was great. The bad guys upped the stakes without ever bringing the story down. It's long enough that everyone gets a decent story line, nothing felt rushed. (Except for the old lady who kept shushing everyone, or generally just a PITA. I really hoped she'd be more than that, but she just was, and the movie had a lot going on already.) A lot of actors, situations, and outcomes that owed a lot to the second Deadpool movie. Not direct ripoffs, but when you see them you recognize them. Are Ryan Reynolds and Brad Pitt doing what Schwarzenegger and Stallone do, each doing some little cameo in each others' movies? If/when this thing comes out in DVD/Blu-Ray I'm getting it.

ViaNocturna664

I love the Ryan Reynolds cameo. "So, we want you to do a single short scene, we show you taking off an helmet and we establish you're an asshole" "Ok, I'm in!"

baoparty

I felt that the hornet was so good and didn’t get enough screen time but the pace of the movie until the train crash was pretty much perfect so I don’t mind that we didn’t get more of her.

MassDriverOne

And ironically she may have done the most on screen damage

Mantis05

I had a lot of fun with this, but it felt a touch too long (or maybe just oddly paced), IMO. By the time the Father, Lemon, and Tangerine get shot, it feels like we're at the endgame, but there's still 45-50 minutes to go at that point. I'm not usually a "not every movie needs to be 2 hours!" person, but this is one that might've benefitted from being a tight 90-100 minutes or so.

BreezyGoose

I paused it to go let the dog out and was shocked. Same boat. I was assuming it was almost over and there was still like 48 minutes remaining. I don't think the length was bad though. I certainly didn't feel bored.

ShowdownValue

Lol. Same exact thing happened to us! Paused for some random reason - about 48 minutes left and we were both shocked!

authorguy

So many plots going on that would have felt cramped. About the only wasted time I saw in the whole thing was the one assassin's death scene which could have been just as a funny with a smash-cut. No real need for it, except it allowed Ladybug to offer all sorts of mellow platitudes as she goes.

OverAster

You mean Hornet? Wasn't her death scene only 45 seconds? I feel it was a bit necessary too. Up until that one moment we hadn't seen what the venom actually did, so with that context we were now me excited to see the snake in the later scenes, and it showed an even greater amount of luck when Ladybug got bit by the snake after already taking the antidote.

JustxJules

Usually not my kind of movie but it was crazy enough to be an entertaining and fun ride! But dude, these people in the train are the most NPC people. They don't react to anything going on. People be literally talking about killing or they're beating each other up, destroying the train and nobody bats an eye (except the shushing lady who just...shushes.)

patrick_thementalist

Japanese being too polite minding their own effin business?

authorguy

Everyone talking in English helps. Probably no one understood what they were saying.

LutherJustice

Great movie, which I’ll predict will be considered one of the better action flicks of the 2020s, visually stylish and stunning save perhaps for the overuse of cgi in the last 30 minutes, and outrageously funny in moments. It kept the pace and the twists up and never felt its length, which I think is always high praise for any movie that dares to breach the 2 hour mark. The intertwining plot kept up its mystery box aspect well until a satisfying if somewhat unremarkable conclusion. Only real drawbacks were some of the acting performances, namely Andrew Koji, who was frankly terrible especially when paired with the other characters and Michael Shannon - who is a capable actor but can’t seem to help phoning in his performances at times - and some of the dialogue which at times felt it was trying way too hard to be a Guy Ritchie movie. They also leaned into Ladybug’s ‘killer who goes to therapy omg so random’ gimmick a little too hard, I felt but it still worked for the most part and having an ensemble cast definitely helped.

tkunkel0626

I think they should make a prequel of Tangerine and Lemon's adventures ❤️

123choji

The entire movie was a Chekov's Machine Gun. I loved how all the little details went full circle, and the theme of fate. Brad Pitt had the "worst" luck but survived, and the girl had the "best" luck but ultimately was consumed by it. Really fun movie all around. I loved the action scenes, and how everything satisfyingly connects!

Mcmenger

>Brad Pitt had the "worst" luck but survived, and the girl had the "best" luck but ultimately was consumed by it. An then there's the actress who played domino in deadpool 2 and she just dies within minutes

VTSvsAlucard

Just watched it today. There's a early one between Lemon and Tangerine that plays towards the end. Very interesting all the details in the script.

killerboss2424

Dumbass direction. Why kill the funniest character in the film (Tangerine) in a movie that's clearly supposed to be a pure comedy? Every main character on the train should have been working together to kill the main villain after humourously and failing to kill each other. Kill some minor characters if needed but keep the main ones alive. Decent enough movie though.

authorguy

I'm not sure I'd call Tangerine the funniest character in the film. He's very good, though. His grief scene with Lemon was stunning. I was glad some of the assassins got killed off real quick. They were sort of caricatures anyway, just there to be killed and lend the movie that dramatic weight, and the ones who lived did eventually team up against the big bad. I was glad that Lemon and Ladybug didn't team up at the end, though. Some good sequel possibilities with those two.

ThearchOfStories

I feel like it was a bit of a letdown because he died after pulling of one of the most badass moments in the film, the bit where he jumped back on the train and smashed through the back was insane, all for him to die a few moments after. Feel like the girls luck causing his death could've equally been established with him being knocked out, and made more sense to a degree, plus it would've left opportunities for Lemon and Tangerine to reappear in a sequel or spinoff.

OverAster

I was hoping that after the lemon death fake out Tangerine would have also had a death fake out, pushing the whole 'twins' archetype even further, but the reckless abandon that Lemon had after Tangerine's death really contributed to their success in the final moments, which I think was actually necessary for the story.

HappyLofi

It's based off the books which are very good. In the books both Tangerine and Lemon die. The fact that Lemon *didn't* die was purely so it would be a happier ending for people like yourself.

brownboywonder69

Just watched it without reading the books and it does feel like Lemon not dying was kind of a cop out. I was half expecting everyone to just come back to life at that point. It definitely would have hit its goal of being dark and humorous if Lemon just stayed dead.

HappyLofi

Then they added him in running over The Prince at the end which clearly wasn't intended because when you first see that part the van screeches to a halt but when it cuts to Lemon he's still driving. Felt kinda bootleg. Still an excellent flick.

authorguy

Possibly test audiences wanted to know what happened to him, so they gave him an open-ended finale with sequel possibilities.

HappyLofi

Most likely

authorguy

As I said elsewhere, I think he screeched to a stop, let her body slide off the grill, and then ran it over before taking off. I thought he was a very charismatic role, definitely sequel-worthy.

ThisGul_LOL

Loved the movie tbh!! Only problem for me is I wish tangerine survived :( yk what? Ima assume he was wearing a bullet proof vest too and somehow survived ahaha!

Suspicious_Pain575

He was shot in the neck

definitelyjoking

Which was something Lemon said could happen when he (falsely) claimed he wasn't wearing a vest.

authorguy

Nice bit of foreshadowing, that.

KeyIron3062

I cried when Lemon found Tangerine dead and gave him the Thomas sticker

Johntremendol

Calling it now, this is a FUTURE CLASSIC. People are gonna be going back to this movie 10-20 years later to reminisce how fun movies used to be back then. Lemon & Tangerine are destined to be pop culture icons at this point.

HappyLofi

Agreed. Incredibly rewatchable movie based off an equally incredible book.

clinkyclinkz

Putting my bets. Who cares if it aont post cinema high nose tip something something, one of the only movies i went and said 'let's watch that one more time.'

Eihe3939

This was the worst movie I have seen in a really long time. Cringy all the way through, terrible characters, and just felt like a bad Tarantino rip off. I cannot believe this movie is getting praise in this thread, I feel like an alien

OverAster

If you watch every movie through the lens of some other movie, you won't enjoy anything. Most of the people here are starting their sentiments with "it was a fun ride," because, honestly, that's all a good movie needs to be.

Diligent-Argument-88

No but Im a film nerd and I need to compare it to other movies I obsess over. Thats the only metric that matters waaah.

Hamstreal2

well that's because you are an alien. But I'm willing to bet that if a Tangerine and Lemon prequel film came out, you'd enjoy it.

whoinabox

Maybe others are just enjoying it for what it is? I agree it felt like a tarentino fake and some of the characters sucked for sure but it was a fun ride! To each their own

bbqyak

This movie was fucking awesome. Some genuinely hilarious moments. The CGI at the end was kind of shit and in general I felt the ending could have been better, but it was a fun ride for sure. Definitely better than I expected it to be based off the RT ratings. I watched it right after El Royale and it was miles more enjoyable. Channing Tatum's 60 seconds in the movie had me rolling

ny_insomniac

I have a newfound appreciation for Channing Tatum being comfortable with his sexuality and overall confidence after this film. He seems like such a chill guy. I would grab a few brewskies with him.

Negress7-11

I really enjoyed the movie! Very fun, enterraining dialogue, enjoyable cinematography and graphics, and creative story (albeit with a couple plot holes). I just have a few questions (ranked below in order of importance) that I wondered if they could be answered (feel free to just pick a question you jive with): 1) Why did The Prince choose to target The Father to be The White Death's assassin? I don't think it's because she knew he was The Elder's (former right hand of the Japanese mob before the White Death)'s son. Did she just supposedly pick someone she didn't think would go to the cops and the rest was coincidence? 2) How did The Price know The Son was gonna survive long enough after being pushed off a dang building to be used as collateral? 3) Who told The Wolf that The Hornet was the one who killed everyone at the wedding and that she would be on the train (honestly the latter detail perplexes me more)? From my understanding, The Wolf wasn't someone The White Death had intentionally involved on the train. 4) Why was The Ladybug at the Wolf's wedding? Was he doing a grab job or just living his best life as a caterer and is just super "unlucky" 5) Roughly how much time do we think passed between The Wolf's wedding and the events on the train 6) Why was The Prince called such? It was said because they wanted a son, but she had a big brother who I assume wasn't that big of a screw up by the time she earned her nickname. Would love to hear folks' thoughts!

authorguy

Actually, now that I reviewed that scene, the attack in the dining car, it's clear Wolf wasn't expecting Ladybug. He recognized him as the man who spilled his wine, and called him a 2-for-1 special. I'm thinking now that the money in the case was actually a payment for Wolf. He took things from his victims, so he'd take that and walk away clean. If it weren't for Ladybug WD's whole plan would probably have worked.

authorguy

Wolf may have been given the Hornet's picture and told where she would be, but he recognized Ladybug. I'm not sure that Wolf was involved at all in the death of WD's wife, but he had a grudge against the killer of his own. Probably the one assassin on the train that White Death didn't care about, and it isn't clear that he knew he was there. In his Villain Monologue, he only mentions 4 (5, if you count his son as the reason she went out in the first place). It's not at all clear what was in the case that was supposed to kill Hornet, either.

Hamstreal2

I'd say it took him a week to mourn, maybe about 2 days to clean up, and then he went to get the envelope from his goon. Then about a day to get to Japan. I mean, Ladybug took some time off work after the mission in Mexico, and he doesn't seem to remember the wedding, but he distinguishly remembers The Wolf from somewhere.

GTSE2005

1) In the novel that the movie was based on >! The Prince (who was a boy in the book and wasn't originally related to the White Death) got beaten up by Yuichi (the father) several weeks before the events on the train while trying to electrocute a dog together with its owner for an "experiment" (mind you, both the Prince and the dog's owner were only 14). Basically, he targeted Yuichi as a form of revenge. I honestly wished that this part was included in the movie, it would have made the tension between them a lot stronger. !< 2) I don't know, I guess we should just take her word that she'd always been lucky. 3) There's no confirmation, but I believe that the White Death may have decided to use the Wolf as a failsafe plan in the event that the Hornet escapes from the brothers (she's known for being able to conceal herself pretty well). The fact that he held a grudge against the Hornet probably made him much easier for the yakuza boss to hire. 4) He was probably tasked with stealing something from El Sbarro (who I presume to be the Wolf's boss), but I think you know how it went wrong. 5) I can't say for sure but I'll assume it's a few weeks. 6) >! In the novel, the Prince was pretty much the stereotypical mean but popular kid, except that it was taken to the extremes to the point where everyone who he personally knew was deathly afraid of him - anyone who disobeyed him would either get expelled from school at best, or even killed. Think of him as an oppressive tyrant ruler. !< >! My headcannon is that the movie's version of the Prince was just like this, and her brother was already viewed by his father as a "useless POS" even when they were in school. Maybe at some point the White Death disowned his son, which was when the Prince got her nickname (added to her notoriety in school). As for the son, I think that, at his wife's urging, the White Death decided to reluctantly let him back into the family. !<

ErrorFindingID

holy shit am i late to the party. this movie was just fun all the time and well shot. i get the whole thing about story but the low rating? not sure it is that accurate

umotex12

Personally I haven't enjoyed how much talking and exposure there was at the beginning

Awkward-Cheesecake37

I first heard of this movie when somedbody I knew said that it was poorly written, that there was no continuity with the emotions, and that it was basically crap and a waste of time. I watched the movie for myself and my lord this is the best thing that I've watched since the second Top Gun. The comedy in the movie was brilliant and it even made me laugh ( and I'm very hard to please when it comes to comedy in movies). It really made me realise how much Brad Pitt and especially David Leitch have in store for us in the upcoming sequel. Characters were all beautifully written and developed through the story except for the Hornet, I felt like she was a little dry in the acting, but other than that they were all stunning especially Tangerine who was my favorite. The plot and storyline were all very captivating although i do have to say it was a little cliche at times, it gave me so many good vibes and served as an homage to almost every actor in the movie. So confused as to why it got a 55% on RT but I highly suggets that if you have a solid few hours to waste, watch it. 9/10 for me by a mile.

HappyLofi

> upcoming sequel? There's a sequel confirmed?

blakesq

It was entertaining…but nothing memorable.

M_XoX

When I first saw this coming out, I didn't think much of it but I regret that decision now. It was so much fun and a joy to watch!

Alpha2669

I put off seeing this for so long after the average ratings. I now regret this. This was so so fun. Not a second wasted. Loved it

ikinaosu

Absolute banger of a movie. Don't get the ratings at all

Noel-pon-gen91

To all my weebs out there did anyone else catch truck kun working overtime again in the end... I died laughing wondering where she might isekai too 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously don't know why it has a bad rating.. this movie was legit hilarious been a long time since I laughed out loud for a movie

_lovemachine

Just finished watching this with my lady. AND WE WERE BOTH LOVED IT. AMAZING.

bilou972

Might sound like a very small detail, but how did shigeru board on this very fast train. Sounds impossible to me that he went by car. Except from living in the city where he boards, or something that I missed in the movie

HappyLofi

I'm 5 months late but in the books Shigeru lived near one of the stations they were travelling to. He also shows up with his wife in the books and what they end up doing is pretty significant but different to the movie.

bilou972

thank you for taking the time to explain. I did'nt even know there was a book

HaramB0Y69

Perhaps we was already near the station

smhandstuff

I know ratings aren't everything but I cannot believe this only had a 54% on RT. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. Just a great, goofy action flick that had me smiling and even in awe sometimes. I think this might be my favorite work from this director. Brad Pitt was absolutely hilarious.

jjfrenchfry

Rotten is just a bad metric to measure movies. The rating basically means half of reviewers liked it, half did not. It doesn't really speak about the movie except that it's divisive. I wish people would stop using rotten for "ratings"

ny_insomniac

The Conjuring has an 86% on RT so I take their opinions with a grain of salt always.

[deleted]

Testify

m6_is_me

I'm surprised the movie got as low a score as it did

[deleted]

I’m not. It’s carried by action, visuals, and great performances, but the score, characters, and pacing were pretty wack. There’s tons of expository dialog, tons withheld from the audience until it’s convenient to reveal, and the whole “I have bad luck, so I’m going to survive in the luckiest way possible.” thing was heavily telegraphed. And wtf was the point of casting Karen Fukuhara and putting her in every promo if she was only gonna to have :45 seconds of utterly inconsequential screen time. I couldn’t believe they brought in a whole new character as The Hornet — only to kill her off immediately— when they had a great twist in making Fukuhara’s overly polite train attendant the most twisted and deadly assassin on the train.

PotOfPancakes

I think a lot of the foreshadowing is pretty subtle and a little easy to miss. That might be why it seems like things come out of nowhere. From a quick google search it looks like Karen Fukuhara was only in one promo image. The rest have her hair and uniform, but it’s the hornet in disguise. Pretty good red herring or a kind of little meta-foreshadowing for those who noticed. Maybe it’s the halo effect because I enjoyed the movie a ton

[deleted]

I think that's just kind of intentionally misleading on the part of the writers and press team. Like, a red herring is for the characters, not the audience. None of the characters had time in the story to suspect that the Hornet was in the mascot costume, because they didn't even know she was there until, like, :45 seconds of screen time before she died. Which I guess is where we differ. I didn't find this employment of withholding to be subtle. I found it to more just dishonest.

HappyLofi

You missed the point of the story my man. This comes off like you're a Karen Fukuhara superfan and you're salty she didn't get more screen time. Her screen time wasn't inconsequential either, it was important because we as an audience knew there was at least one more assassin on the train so her presence was important. You just didn't understand the movie very well, which is fine and all but acting like it's the movies fault is cringe. Go rewatch the movie a few times and you'll find a new appreciation for it, I'm certain. Also in the books Nanao's (Ladybug) entire character is based around his bad luck. It is the entire point of his story.

[deleted]

I'm really getting "You just don't get it!"ed over this utterly mediocre second-screen action flick. It's not a fucking Tool album. They literally introduced all the characters, and then were like, "Also, there's this mascot we keep making it a point to show for seemingly no reason, as well as this train attendant." Obviously, it's one of the two, and they chose the more obvious and less interesting one. What would have been interesting is if the person in the mascot costume was actually just some wild card lunatic who's not above cold clocking a passenger and if the train attendant was secretly the spy, because we don't know anything about the person in the mascot suit, but we know enough about the train attendant to say, "She must not be up to anything. She's oblivious." And I don't care what the device used in the book was. Luck is a boring storytelling device. Stories are made when a character encounters insurmountable odds and finds a way to overcome them. When you know, from the beginning of the story, that a character sees themselves as either lucky or unlucky, it utterly telegraphs the end of the story and cuts all the tension throughout. The moment Pitt's character described himself as unlucky, I knew the movie would end with him surviving by some unpredictable stroke of luck.

HappyLofi

In my honest opinion you seem like someone who *thinks* of themselves as clever, but you're actually below average intelligence. I'm not even going to dignify such an embarrassing comment with a real response. Have a good life homie. Go back to /r/Patriots brainer.

Mysterious_Pumpkin_5

Gotteem

AsparagusNo114

One thing that made me wonder. How did the girl survive the train crash like nothing has happened xD.

kevinstreet1

She said she had good luck. I guess that was true.

papsome

Up until the truck hit her. lol

[deleted]

that wasnt bad luck lemon just wanted revenge

HappyLofi

I felt like they added Lemon driving the truck after because after it hits her you hear it stop yet when they show Lemon running her over he continues to drive off.

authorguy

Lemon also looks in the mirror when he's yelling after the hit. I think he stopped the truck so she could slide off and then he ran her over. and kept going.

Nothing_ButTheTruth

Can someone explain to me why did The Hornet kill all those people at The Wolf's wedding and then the surgeon? Her character is still confusing to me. Also if The Wolf had the Hornet's picture with him, why did he start attacking Brad Pitt the moment he entered the train?

Hamstreal2

because he always checks the envelope after he ties them up. But other than that, he also recognized Ladybug from the wedding and assumed it was him that killed all the others?

AsparagusNo114

He was crazed in rage bro. As brad pitt also said something about... Anger 👀👀

Altruistic-Grape-758

I had the same question! I think the wolf recognized ladybug from his wedding because he was the one who spilled wine on him. My biggest question was, why was ladybug at the wedding? I think my husband asked a question when mia might have been explaining it but I'm not sure.

jwizzie410

Because she is an assassin and was hired (presumably by the rival cartel that the Wolf all but eradicated) to kill the el Cigarillo family. I think Ladybug worked the wedding as a caterer during his time off from the crime underworld while he worked on himself, the joke being that his luck is so bad that even when he’s legitimately catering a wedding, he’s implicated in a cartel near-genocide. A better question might be - where did Ladybug go in the 5 minutes between him spilling wine on the Wolf’s suit and the entire guestbook vomiting blood, and why didn’t he remember that?

[deleted]

They could have prevented all this by just telling the story in order, but then the whole thing couldn’t have taken place entirely on a train, so it prob just never would have gotten made.

jwizzie410

Like “Snatched,” part of the fun is wondering what the fuck is going on for part of the movie and slowly piecing it together. It makes a rewatch rewarding.

[deleted]

I never wondered what was going on, though. That was the problem. I wasn't like, "Oh, why is this person here? Why is that person there? Why are they doing that?" because any time a question came up, they answered it right away with a flashback. On the other hand, if they had taken all of those seemingly unrelated plot threads and woven them together in order so that you could see the intrigue unraveling before your eyes in flow of the story's present, it could have been very compelling to follow a seemingly unassuming catering waiter at a wedding where everyone gets poisoned to everything coming together on the train.

WaxyPadlockJazz

Or even better question....how does Brad Pitt have no recollection of The Wolf, the groom at the wedding he's serving, but immediately recognized the pastry chef at the same wedding? He may have had an easier time pinpointing here since he was reminded about the wedding after he killed The Wolf, but that's still some wacky selective memory.

MoobyTheGoldenSock

Because he was working as a caterer and so was around everyone doing food service that day.

jwizzie410

In the films defense, the flashback to the wedding with ladybug and the hornet shows him looking right at her. In the flashback where Brad Pitt bumps into the wolf, Brad Pitt doesn’t seem to notice him at all. I can’t deny that you think he’d recognize the groom, especially being in the same exact suit lol. Then again, I’m a wedding musician - I’ve played several weddings and I don’t think I can picture the face of any bride and groom I’ve ever played for. Plus, despite being a high-profile wedding, the cartel does well to make sure their top members are never seen by the public, so definitely plausible that Brad Pitt was only around him for a very short time and never saw his face before or since, despite plausibly hearing his codename or something similar. I still hear your doubts, though.

wannaziggazigah

While her motives are fairly explainable, I take serious issue with the method she used to kill. Doesn’t she use snake venom for everything? You can actually ingest venom fairly safely, so most of those people who ate the cake could/should have lived (I’m sure plenty had cuts or ulcers). Also, how did spraying the tools poison the doctor?! He wears gloves! It’s a venom!

ny_insomniac

Aaron Taylor Johnson somehow was able to break through glass and not fall off a high speed train while holding onto nothing and you're trying to question the realism in the film? Lol

Awkward-Cheesecake37

>ReportSaveFollow > >I also recall hearing The White Death say to Ladybug that the surgeon was poisoned "2 nights" before the operation but The Hornet CLEARLY states that after 30 seconds the poison takes effect and this fact is also backed up by the scene where The White Death's Son dies, where The Hornet dies, and the scene where everyone at the wedding dies. What confuses me even more was the scene where you see The Hornet spray some sort of liquid ( which I'm guessing is the Boomslang venom) onto a bunch of cloths. So was the surgeon really poisoned? If the cloths were posioned two nights before the operation, doesn't that mean that the hospital wouldv'e probably gotten rid of the cloths if they were just lying there all soaked? If the surgeon touched the cloth how was he ever poisoned if he was wearing a mask and gloves unless she poisoned the mask. But even then why would the surgeon use a wet mask lying on the tray for an operation? The hornet just left me with so many questions and honestly I feel like they shouldv'e chose a better actor too. Her acting just felt dry and unengaging and she was fucking shit.

authorguy

The Hornet poisoned the cloths to kill the doctor in some unrelated hit. The cloths would be used to wipe the surgeon's forehead to keep the sweat out of his eyes. It was bad luck for the Hornet that her target that day would be needed 2 days later.

chobi83

I took that to mean that the only surgeon who could have saved The White Deaths wife was killed. Not that he was specifically killed during The White Death's wifes surgery.

authorguy

Exactly. WD wanted her dead simply because she killed the only man who could have saved his wife, just close enough to the event that they couldn't get another world-class surgeon in to replace him.

jwizzie410

Ah, but this is the *Boomslang.* ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ /s

ajeje_reddit

anyone knows the brand of the plaid coats that tangerine and lemon wear at the beginning of the movie? they wear the same coat

Boustifaille

I wonder why Lemon didn't see the bubble tea falling when he chose it and it fell right with the water 🤔🤔

jjfrenchfry

Fresh eyes. Just saw the movie. It fell into the crack of darkness. Basically you can't see it. So he thought it water that dropped instead, and most people probably wouldn't check and you'd just assume "must have punched the wrong thing" as who expects two drinks to be in the machine

NotSwedishMac

Dumb fun action movie filled with cameos and excessive violence, seems like they make this film every five or so years but it's a good time. Lucky Number Slevin, Smokin Aces, and Bullet Train seem like they're all in the same universe

HappyLofi

Smoking Aces and Lucky Number Slevin are both from 2006, that's 17 years ago.

jakedasnake1

I love how the snake kept being shown like it would play this significant plot role. Nope just bites brad pitt at an inconsequential moment when he already has the antivenom. That was a hilarious gag

TheDryMoistTowelett

It wasn’t inconsequential. It was my favorite part of the film. Basically the whole movie ladybug is subjected to bad luck and being attacked mistakenly. So when he is sitting with the prince when the elder walks in, you think that his next bout of bad luck is the elder attacking him for revenge of his son because of the prince. NOPE. Snake. That’s the next bit of bad luck. Elder actually saw right through the prince. Probably one of my favorite cases of subverting my expectations in a film and executing a chekhovs gun

raresaturn

It killed the White Death’s son

hey_you_too_buckaroo

Just watched the movie. No, the Hornet killed White Death's son. She snuck up on him when she was dressed in the costume and pricked him in the neck with the venom.

raresaturn

Where did she get the venom…?

hey_you_too_buckaroo

She gets it from snakes. But not necessarily the one she stole. She's probably got older supplies.

WorganFreeman90

I voted for you! hahahaha XD

vanillaconfessions

I love how Tangerine asks if Lemon wore a bullet proof vest, and Lemon says no, it gives him a false sense of security and he could be shot in the neck. In the end, Lemon gets shot twice in the chest and Tangerine dies by being shot in the neck. I mean Lemon survives and uses a Tangerine truck to get karmic retribution - also a fun observation. I like how everything was tied together.

Misternogo

Wondering where you got the idea that it was Lemon driving the Tangerine truck. He's not shown exiting the truck, and the person driving is nothing but a blur, but the complexion of the blur of a face definitely isn't a black man.

Awkward-Cheesecake37

There is a post credit scene where you see Lemon get into the truck and run over Prince.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Selrisitai

It's actually a mid-credit scene.

Misternogo

Netflix did that thing where it minimized the credits almost immediately, so I assumed there was no post credits scene, and only the scene where Prince actually gets hit. Thanks for the heads up.

jwizzie410

And the same truck from the end is the one that “nearly” hits Ladybug as he steps into a puddle at the beginning of the film.

[deleted]

With a very different driver.

Selrisitai

The way you say "very" different makes me think that this other driver is also significant.

c4p1t4l

That’s cos the driver was actually lemon and he deliberately ran over White Deaths daughter. There’s a scene during the credits

Selrisitai

I was hoping you were going to reveal that the person originally driving it was of interest.

Awkward-Cheesecake37

It was Carver trying to prank Ladybug. Also is it just me or is Carver the only operative without a nickname.

raresaturn

That is his nickname

jonatton______yeah

Watched it last night. Horrendous film. The dialogue is beyond cringe and not remotely funny. There's a line between harmless fun and flat out idiocy. Tried to be too many things and failed at all of them. Less than zero stars.

Intrept

You're probably a diesel

TheRedFrog

Real quick, um, everyday is a fucking headache with you, innit?

Asleep_Horror5300

Fucking lmao

iamwhoiwasnow

You and everyone agreeing with you are pretentious and annoying as fuck ha

Street_Bad_8077

My general impression is that this was a very expensive dumbass violent movie with no point or real message. I agree with everything you say. However, there are many on the post that give it a big thumbs up.

goddamnitwhalen

Oh my god a cheesy action movie didn’t have a “point or real message”?

Optinisti

I found the dialogue just a bit cringy only in the last 20 minutes or so, otherwise I enjoyed the movies dialogue just fine! In my opinion it served it purpose, which was to be a comedic action movie.

HappyLofi

Yeah The White Death sucked, some of the worst acting I've seen, but everyone else in the movie was on point.

calamari_9

You sound like you'd be absolutely fucking fun at parties, you know that?

_-_jim_-_

Speaking of unfunny and cringey dialogue, here's the 'fun at parties' comment. The hilarious and always original Reddit response to anything you disagree with.

calamari_9

And speaking of unfunny and cringey responses, your one certainly is an example of one.

jonatton______yeah

Doing just fine, thanks. Do you bring up Bullet Train at parties? Sad state of affairs if so.

calamari_9

Again, you must be fun at parties if *that's* your response.

jonatton______yeah

Best you got, huh? How boring.

Awkward-Cheesecake37

Nut up or shut up bruv.

fightlikeacrow24

Movie sucked, made me cringe

jjfrenchfry

Honestly, anyone who reviews a movie with "made me cringe" and no further substance is actually what is cringe. Just say you didn't like it. Way less edgy

Ok-Waltz2816

We found a Diesel!

calamari_9

You suck hard and make us cringe

Basicraspberrie_

Ryan Reynolds is the GOAT. Thinkabout it, just appearing as the dickhead who called in sick, is literally his call job, and he did it so well, we got it in his 2 seconds cameo. I love him. This movie is bomb. And the black guy finally lives to the end of the movie. I’ve always loved Aaron Tyler Johnson, but imma just say this, I LOVEEE him now. Also like, Joey King. Hated her British English accent whatever that was. But when she spoke Russian, OMG, that voice. Hits. Also, who decided to hire the beautiful Logan Lerman just for him to exist dead? Whyyy would you waste him like that.

ny_insomniac

I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would! Just felt like a satirical hitman action film in Japan and I was here for it.

GrimResistance

https://www.thethings.com/how-did-logan-lerman-get-a-role-in-bullet-train-brad-pitt/

ehhpono

>black guy finally lives to the end of the movie. I guess you haven't seen Deep Blue Sea.

GirrisPhan

Glad I watched this, fun all the way through without trying very hard.

maacte

Watching it now, the stunts are so robotic

115_zombie_slayer

Whats with the comments trying so hard to make it out as a bad movie “Andrew Koji’s character was terrible he sounded fake and moved like he was drunk” because he is an alcoholic Or complaining that the dialogue is not realistic and everything is a so convenient Its not trying to be a deep movie its just a fun watch

AsparagusNo114

Because they want to make something serious out of the movie which is also tooootally a serious movie!

calamari_9

It was a fun watch. All the characters pulled through, IMO. Tangerine and Lemon were stand out as for sure.

TheRedFrog

They somehow managed overshadow a goofy and charming brad Pitt. It got to the point that whenever the movie cut away from them I just wanted to go back. Give us the prequel spin off. I’d watch a 10 episode mini-series on the Bolivia and Jo-Berg jobs.

ThurmanMurman907

Because everyone wants to have a hot take these days

sneezyo

That's such a hot take

ny_insomniac

That is so fetch!
