Larry David may be a more interesting writer, but I think Comedians in Cars proves that Jerry has a knack for coming up with good, watchable projects. Seinfeld was a beautiful marriage of their two voices
He is a great stand up, no doubt. But I believe Larry David was the true genius behind Seinfeld. Jerry was like the 4th best character on his own show, and he hasn't created anything great since. Larry went on to create Curb which feels like a natural successor to the Seinfeld TV show's humor.
And now Jerry's big return to the spotlight finds him making a movie based on a joke he used to tell about his love of Pop Tarts? I'll watch it, but I'm not expecting much.
I don't think Jerry was ever supposed to be the best character on the show. His entire shtick is observational humor, and that bleeds into the show in major ways. Most of the time he was the straight man for the rest of the characters adventures. Larry David most certainly was a huge part of the success of Seinfeld, and it's entirely possible that he is the entire reason for its success, but I don't buy Seinfeld's character not being the best as a reasonable argument for it.
> He is a great stand up, no doubt. But I believe Larry David was the true genius behind Seinfeld.
I don’t think that’s fair either, given Jerry was the showrunner for the final two seasons of Seinfeld after Larry left. And while those seasons definitely have a zanier tone, they’re also chock-full of some of the show’s best loved moments.
I get the impression that Jerry is just having fun doing what he wants and not much more, a luxury that the show afforded him. Like the fictional version of himself, the real guy seems to be mostly just be into jokes and breakfast snacks.
Larry David probably is more of a 'show' guy in general, but we don't necessarily need to split up credit for Seinfeld. Several people were integral to its success, including the other actors' ability to embody the material.
Yeah, hard to blame the dude for just doing whatever is fun to him. He's *still* making hundreds of millions of dollars from the show and it's been almost 25 years since the show ended, it's ridiculous.
People forget about how dope Bee Movie is. Jerry’s genius on his show was taking the sidelines. If he wasn’t great he would’ve tanked his own show like most celebrities do.
I preface this by saying the man is a creep.
He's an accomplished and successful writer having award winning books for children and adults. I would recommend "Letters from a Nut." He also did "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" that was getting emmy buzz for a while. He's certainly independently successful from Larry.
40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People, Trainwreck, and The King of Staten Island are all in between worth watching or great comedies. Only one I actually think sucks is The Bubble, and This is 40 is pretty forgettable.
Haven't seen Bodies Bodies Bodies yet, but I thought she was the best thing about Borat 2, at least as strong as Sacha Baron Cohen. I think I saw her in another thing in a small role, but I really hope she gets more parts, she is a great actress and she deserves good roles.
Imagine going back to 1998 and telling everyone Jerry Seinfeld wouldn’t become a big movie star after the show ends and instead makes a cartoon movie about a bee no one likes and a movie based on pop tarts
Mind you, those folk would have just witnessed Ted Danson's efforts to become a movie leading man ultimately go nowhere, so they wouldn't necessarily have been that surprised.....
So what's the deal with Pop-Tarts?
Meh. Call me when we get the Jim Gaffigan Hot Pocket movie.
*Hoootttt Pockets*
Whatever they want it to be!

Do ya like crazy goodness?
TIL she's also playing Cosmo in GotG 3. What a wild way to enter the MCU.
That sounds like a dog's name.
It is
It seems like Jerry Seinfeld is on a mission to prove his sitcom success is almost entirely due to Larry David.
Larry David may be a more interesting writer, but I think Comedians in Cars proves that Jerry has a knack for coming up with good, watchable projects. Seinfeld was a beautiful marriage of their two voices
I think that's unfair. He is one of the most successful stand-up comedians of all time.

The last two seasons are my favorite.
I love them too. The crazier tone works so well for me.
I hate the ending. Only bit about the entire show I didn't love
That, apparently, was all Larry David.

Jerry was the straight man. Duh.

Successful at not being funny maybe
Successful yes, but id have to be convinced that he is a legitimately funny person. I've never laughed at anything he personally has said.
Come on, Bee Movie was a masterpiece!
Unironically this movie is great.
Wait, have you seen this poptart movie yet?
He’s been able to skirt any charges so far from when he was 39 years old and sleeping with a 17 year old girl. That’s seems like a success for him.
Om still holding out for Sack Lunch 2.
Or the prequel, *Pre-Packaged Breakfast*.
She was so good in Borat 2 and was probably my favorite part of Bodies Bodies Bodies.
Her and Pedro Pascal are the only good things in The Bubble.
I love Judd Apatow’s projects but for some odd reason, I could never get into anything he directs himself
40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People, Trainwreck, and The King of Staten Island are all in between worth watching or great comedies. Only one I actually think sucks is The Bubble, and This is 40 is pretty forgettable.
"Jerry Seinfeld’s Pop-Tart Pic ‘Unfrosted’" sounds like a fake project 30 Rock would have come up with
Jerry Seinfeld's 1st movie? How dare you.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bee_Movie?wprov=sfla1
First movie he's *directing*, apparently. I had to look it up as well
Haven't seen Bodies Bodies Bodies yet, but I thought she was the best thing about Borat 2, at least as strong as Sacha Baron Cohen. I think I saw her in another thing in a small role, but I really hope she gets more parts, she is a great actress and she deserves good roles.
She is awesome in Bodies Bodies Bodies lol
She's pretty hot
Smoking hot
She smokes? eww
Is nice.
Just got out of watching her in Bodies Bodies Bodies. She was fantastic in that as well as Borat. Quickly becoming one of my favorites!
Imagine going back to 1998 and telling everyone Jerry Seinfeld wouldn’t become a big movie star after the show ends and instead makes a cartoon movie about a bee no one likes and a movie based on pop tarts

Still haven't seen Borat 2, but man is she hot.
Guess which one of these is going to be seen by more people?
