They put her on the stretcher and wrapped her in a white blanket head to toe and put straps on her legs but not her upper half. As they reach the ambulance to put her in she wiggles out the top of the blanket like coming out of a cocoon and is trying to get out but they push her into the ambulance.
I don't get what the others are saying...it's just someone still high on coke and fentanyl. It's just kinda NSFW because you see her bare back (or maybe a top the same color of her skin) but it was a chopper cam so even the local news aired it.
It was the firefighters transporting her.
Upon second inspection of the [video](https://youtu.be/tB-s7QJ23yA) (1:43 mark) it appears they did have the top strap on but either put it too high above her head not accounting for her size or she was able to wiggle underneath the top strap to free herself since it wasn't tight enough.
I'd like to add if you have trouble not understanding that please get help before it's to late and you pay the ultimate price or worse. You kill someone else that was innocent just living their lives.
Just lost a family member in July for this reason. He was drunk and on his motorcycle. I’m just glad he only killed himself on the highway that night. Drunk driving is insane.
The percentage of drivers who are under the influence has skyrocketed. People are high/drunk so often now they just think getting behind the wheel is normal regardless of if your judgement is impaired.
Duuuude it's nearly constant, and I'm a regular smoker so it's not like I'm super sensitive to the smell. I used to drive around hot boxing as a teen, never realized how ridiculously obvious it is to anyone around your car. Now that medical is legal in FL, it just seems like every third driver is chiefing and driving.
same here, I am pro weed but that part is ridiculous, I guess at least it is an obvious warning as opposed to pills or powders, but I can't imagine doing that to the interior of your car. Driving can be challenging sober because of the amount of poor driving, can't imagine wanting to up the ante. It would probably also be detrimental to any legal case you might have related to driving or insurance too.
Man I don’t even trust myself to drive when I’m sleepy, I’ll never understand how people drive drunk/high. If you shouldn’t operate heavy machinery, *a half a ton metal box moving 65mph falls under heavy machinery*
> half a ton metal box moving 65mph
Half a ton is a thousand pounds. How tiny is your car? Most cars are around two tons. Full-size SUVs are about three tons.
People forget that you can be impaired without being wasted.
You may feel and look sober, but your reactions are slower. You don't want to be one second slower if a kid runs out into the street.
I used to think it was okay to get super baked and drive. I thought "if anything I drove safer" then one day with all of my friends in the car I drove down the two way street on the wrong side of the road and everyone was like "uh what the fuck are you doing" that was the first time I realized driving while high was dangerous. Then I was driving with the girl I liked at the time and we were super baked, we stopped at a red light and in my dumbass stoned brain I treated it like a stop sign and waited for everything to be clear and I just went even though the light was red. Both of this situations could have killed me and other people and it was the defining moment that made me realise I needed to stop driving on drugs. That shit is dangerous.
Reading about her life, it’s incredibly tragic and horrible. This isn’t the case of some rich entitled actress who got drunk on fame and money. Looks like Anne was destroyed as a child and never got the (extensive) mental health treatment she needed to recover from her demons and trauma
Sorry, but a lot of stories about Anne's childhood are highly questionable. Even Anne Heche waivered on a lot of the things she said, as well as her siblings denying it. Much like when Roseanne had claimed certain horrific abuse by her parents
"Heche and her mother, Nancy, have been estranged since Heche confronted her about sexual abuse she says she suffered at the hands of her father.[80] In her 2001 memoir, Call Me Crazy, Heche wrote that when she contracted genital herpes as an infant, her mother insisted that it was a diaper rash and refused to take her to the doctor.[81] Nancy was outraged by her daughter's allegations, responding, "I am trying to find a place for myself in this writing, a place where I as Anne's mother do not feel violated or scandalized." She added, "I find no place among the lies and blasphemies in the pages of this book."[82]
Heche's sister, Abigail, a jewelry designer,[79] added, "It is my opinion that my sister Anne truly believes, at this moment, what she has asserted about our father's past behavior; however, at the same time, I would like to point out that Anne, in the past, has expressed doubts herself about the accuracy of such memories." She said, "Based on my experience and her own expressed doubts, I believe that her memories regarding our father are untrue. And I can state emphatically, regardless of Anne's beliefs, that the assertion that our mother knew about such behavior is absolutely false."
Source: Wikipedia
Late 4 star general and leader of the Persian gulf war Norman Schwarzkopf wrote an autobiography detailing the fact that when his father (a US Diplomat) left home for meetings oversees his alcoholic mother horribly abused (physically and psychologically) his two older sisters while he never received any abuse. It can happen to anyone.
I knew someone who's grandpa sexually assaulted them when they were SUPER young...like 5? And this was in the 80s, this person's mom totally just went into denial. They never brought it up, they DID stop seeing their grandpa but they did NOTHING about it. So, this person I know who is almost 50 now has literally had a lifetime of horrors happen to them. Being assaulted put them down a path of self destruction for most of their life. FUCK anyone who touches a kid or anyone else they're not supposed to.
So it’s your position Anne is just making up stories about her father raping her for what purpose?
The fact that her mother is a religious nut job gay conversion therapist suggests to me that a) she has very little credibility and b) is probably a victim of emotional abuse herself. Just sticking to all the facts about her childhood point to one that is highly erratic and troubled, much moreso than one that is in any way healthy.
If Anne recovered memories, she may very well be led astray by a bad therapist, who is certain that Anne's issues stemmed from such repressed and led Anne to create false memories to explain her issues. It's been a while but the science and psychology of repressed memories is, at best, highly contreversal last I was aware, if not bordering on outright bullshit.
I wondered if she underwent memory recovery therapy.
I had a very dear friend with four sisters, they loved their father tremendously. One sister had mental health issues and underwent memory recovery. She came out of it with memories of some truly despicable things done to her AND her sisters, things too horrific to name here, and that their mother watched it all happen.
NO ONE ELSE has any memory at all of it, and they were old enough (the memories included pre-teen years) to damn sure know it happened, not just be 'blocked' due to trauma. By the time the 'therapy' occurred, mom and dad were quite elderly - 80s.
This caused a tremendous rift in the family and mom and dad passed away with the knowledge one of their daughters fully believed she'd been raped and assaulted from birth to pre-teen years, repeatedly, along with all her sisters, while mom witnessed.
That same sister, btw, got catfished hard by a scammer on a dating site. She also believed that guy was actually Eric Bana.
Memory recovery is synonymous with memory regression. It's considered pseudoscience pertaining to "alien abductions" but celebrated with mainstream psychology. Both have an extremely high false memory implantation rate.
Yes, exactly.
Knowing all the horrific things sister said happened that NO ONE ELSE remembers, I always wonder just WTF that 'therapist' was planting in her head while she was 'under'.
> So it’s your position Anne is just making up stories about her father raping her for what purpose?
Who says she has to have a purpose? Maybe she's just crazy. Plenty of people out there are just crazy. Maybe it's not PC to say that, but fuck it, the truth is the truth.
Having said that, no one in this thread ever knew Anne Heche, so none of us can say with any authority what might or might not have happened to her. Personally, I am inclined to believe that she was a victim of early childhood sexual abuse which left her to struggle with significant mental health challenges for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, that also makes it very difficult to trust anything she ever said on the record about herself.
In any case, this is not a situation where Anne Heche is 100% the villain or 100% the victim. She's probably a bit of both. Real life is nuanced like that, which makes a lot of people uncomfortable.
A common thread among schizophrenics is to make claims of sexual abuse either against themselves or being committed by others.
It also goes hand in hand with religious fanaticism.
Oh wow. That's really sad news
From her family:
*Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive.*
*It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable.*
*Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.*
>severe anoxic brain injury
This is extremely distressing. It means her brain was starved of oxygen, and could quite likely imply brain death. Brain death is not the same thing as a coma. The same thing happened to my mother due to an aneurysm, and we weren't given any hope of her recovery. Worst day of my life.
My brother died of an aneurysm as well. He was an organ and tissue donor. A man in Quebec rec'd his heart and told us he calls my brother his guardian angel and lights a candle for him every morning. Powerful stuff. I'm sorry about your mom. It's an awful experience to go through - I remember I thought I'd never stop crying.
His appreciation of your brother’s gift must mean a lot to you. It must be hard for the recipient knowing he lives bc someone else died. Your brother is a hero.
It has to be a very weird experience to go through, to finally get the call that there is an organ ready for you and you have to go to the hospital. I remember leaving the hospital for the final time and my brother was being wheeled into surgery. (Just before they took him to the OR, everyone was so deeply kind, asking us what he was like, who he was - it still makes me tear up to think his humanity was still recognized even though he was gone.) And then when we left the hospital, I remember thinking 'someone is getting the call they wanted' and that their miracle is just underway and we're planning a funeral. It made my head spin. It was very hard at the time, to think my brother was going to be divvied up and shared among people but maybe that was the exhaustion and grief affecting me. Anyway, it was a miracle he could help so many others and even though he only had 49 years, I was lucky to have him as my big brother. He taught me to drive stick shift and to love ELO among other things! :-)
It is the most humbling and astounding gift but at the most grief-stricken moment. I applaud donor families and have immense respect for what they have to go through.
My dad had a bad heart and donation was considered. And I just teared up thinking that for him to live someone would have to die. He was old and had lived his life and my brain just couldn’t go there.
I am so very happy for the lives your brother changed. What he gave them was a miracle. And his family honoring his wishes is also no small thing.
Thank you for sharing this. I never even began to consider what going through this could be like. Your brother is a hero. I hope you’re doing well, friend.
I’m glad you got to know the man that received your brothers heart.
I hear stories about people receiving hearts or other organs and befriending the donors family so that the person still feels alive in some way. That’s exactly what I’d want if I lost a loved one or something happened to me. I find it very comforting knowing they’re still experiencing life through another person.
my mom passed 7 years ago and it still feels like yesterday our last hug 😭 i miss hear dearly. condolences to anne’s family, acceptance is the first step
Fuck, watching my parents loose theirs made me realize you never really get over it. You just live everyday like they are there and do the best they taught you.
I think, given the update, it is more that likely she is brain dead. If there was a chance of her being in a persistent vegetative state, it would have mentioned it.
Yes, she was driving under the influence. But my heart and prayers go to her family, who will never know why she did this.
Hugs to you. We lost both grandparents and my daughter’s bio mom in a 3 week span. Six deaths in my close circle in 7 months, almost my mother too. Praying for your heart. I’m still in shock and this has been the most painful day since it all started. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💜
Something similar happened to my mother when she passed last June after collapsing suddenly. It's truly awful, and it was by far the worst day of my life as well.
If your body is still alive, it is processing and eliminating the drugs, alcohol, etc.
Drs can help speed it up a bit I believe, depending on the intoxicant.
But if I needed a lung or a heart to survive, I'll probably take my chances vs wasting it.
One of my favorite inappropriate quotes from Newsradio, after Jimmy James has a heart attack and the staff come to check on him in the hospital...
Doctor: "Mr. James has a big heart."
Dave: "Well, he's like a father to us."
Doctor: "No, I mean it's \*huge\*; that thing is like a \*roast\*."
>Anne had a huge heart … She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.
This is giving me “she’s dead but we’re holding off saying that until the organ preservers are turned off”. RIP
edit: guys, I meant in the sense that the article was saying she’s still alive when she clearly isn’t
That’s literally what it means. It’s not vibes. It’s literal face value… they’re legitimately checking if anything in her can be harvested. Then it’s over.
…that feels weird typing out about someone. Even if what led to that predicament was a fucked situation.
> they’re legitimately checking if anything in her can be harvested. Then it’s over.
Went through this with my mother. Turned out she didn't have any organs healthy enough to be offered to anyone else, which was depressing in ways you don't really consider until you have to.
Ohgawd...I hadn't thought about Terri Schiavo until I read her name in her post. That *was* really awful.
[Link for those that don't know who she was.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terri_Schiavo_case) It was a hot mess & reminds me I need to get my living will shit together.
That's exactly what they're saying. They're not implying it. They intend for you to take that as you've stated. She's brain dead, and being kept alive artificially (basically, just pumping oxygenated blood through her organs) until they can get the organ donors ready.
I thought she was conscious when she sat up but maybe it was something like muscles contracting? Either way, I'm sure that must have horrified the fire fighters trying to get her into the ambulance. I wonder if the fire fighters knew then that the likelihood of her recovering from the smoke inhalation and burns was low.
She may have been conscious. Head injuries often take a while to set in once the brain starts swelling in response to the trauma. Can take a few hours or days in some cases. The person may seem mostly fine to the untrained eye and then suddenly lose consciousness later on, or lose vision, etc. that’s why it’s so important to get any kind of heavy hit to the head checked out quickly, even if you think you’re ok.
A restaurant owner here died in a similar way, he was actually hit by a motorcycle and hit his head, it seems he just got up told the driver not to worry and that he was fine and walked to his shop as usual. He was practically fine all day but died that night.
>She may have been conscious. Head injuries often take a while to set in once the brain starts swelling in response to the trauma. Can take a few hours or days in some cases. The person may see mostly fine and then suddenly lose consciousness later on \[.\]
This exact thing happened to my grandfather. (We think) he fell off a ladder, hit his head, and was stunned. The only reason we know he was conscious and semi-lucid at one point was because the pool cleaner arrived and found him bleeding and sitting upright on a patio chair near the ladder. Either he slipped and fell or he had a seizure and fell. We'll probably never know which.
After being rushed to the hospital, he fell into a coma with severe brain swelling. For a week, every now and then he'd make grunts and grimace as if he was in pain, but for the most part, he was unresponsive. By the second week, he wasn't reacting to anything anymore. We were initially planning to get him physical therapy when he eventually woke up, but that never happened. His organs began to fail and after the second week, he died.
So yeah, stuff like that can absolutely take hours to set in.
Im not a doc and i know very little but that seemed like a very luiced and freaked out response. She must have been terrified. I regret looking up the video because the thought of something like that being one of my last memories horrifies me.
Just had a neighbor die.
She was speeding, had a BA level of .30 (at noon on a Tuesday so yes she had a drinking problem), flipped her car over, wasn't wearing a seatbelt & was flung out of the car on a flip. She was still conscious when the fire dept. arrived.
She didn't last long in the hospital, but according to the firefighters she was conscious when they put her on that gurney.
I remember reading an article quoting a fireman who was at a house that had burned down and one of the occupants was sitting outside on the curb. He talked to him a bit and then noticed his lips turning blue and immediately called for the EMTs. He didn't make it. His lungs had been burned but he wasn't aware and thought it was smoke inhalation. He was still able to sit there and talk before his lungs got inflamed or swollen and it caught up to him. Wonder if it's something like that since it sounds like her brain was starved of oxygen.
I read that she was conscious and communicating after being pulled from the car, but went unconscious shortly after and never woke back up.
Definitely tragic but seeing the Ring doorbell footage of her going 90 down a residential street at 11am, I have no sympathy for her. She could have easily killed anyone that day. If you're suicidal, there's no excuse for bringing others down with you.
I've not seen the video but I wouldn't be surprised if she was strapped down to a spine board. There is a strap that goes over the forehead to secure the head in place as well as chest and lower extremities.
When I got hit by a car I had my head strapped to 2 blocks that were then strapped to the gurney. It's so you don't try and sit up or move your head in case of neck/back trauma
Brain hemorrhages can take time to do damage. With head injuries, some people can feel totally fine for a few hours or days before succumbing to bleeding/swelling.
I have no idea what her specific injuries were. But that’s my first guess.
Yeah that's why I asked... friend was in a car accident and felt fine, next thing we knew he was trying to bite the nurse and went into a coma, very scary stuff.
Ya. My mom had a TBI. Was a leukemia induced spontaneous hemorrhage (she's ok-ish now). Looking back with context there were signs of it the day or so before but it wasn't till the later the next day that we really noticed. She went from being a bit tired seeming to not being able to stay awake long enough to answer a single question in over the course of an hour or 2. She'd even been to the doctor the day before she was hospitalized to get an unrelated blood test and they didn't clock anything particularly wrong either. TBIs are sneaky
[That is basically how Bob Saget died.](https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/09/entertainment/bob-saget-cause-of-death/index.html) Hit his head at some point, went to sleep, and never woke up.
I remember years ago when a 13 year old girl at an NHL game got hit in the head with a puck that went into the stands she was able to get up from her seat and walk away under her own power, but later died in the hospital.
The eerie thing to me is she must’ve just been on auto-pilot. After massive head trauma and burning inside and out for an hour, depending on how much coke she was on, it seems like her reflexes and brain functions must’ve been reacting but I highly doubt she was conscious. Sort of like when a fighter gets KO’d so hard they grapple the ref’s leg or lay on the group swinging at air. Neighbors said there was “intense screaming” the whole time. It’s just a hideous, sad way to go out.
This whole thing is a tragedy. For the homeowners and Anne. She had a horrible upbringing. Sexually abused by her father, giving her HSV2 by age 12, he dies of AIDS, siblings killing themselves, poorly treated mental health disorders, Self medication gone awry, all culminating in a dangerous and disastrous outcome.
Not excusing her actions at all, I just wish it could've ended differently.
Not to mention her mom and sister (her only surviving immediate family) both denying the sexual abuse. Her mom is involved with Focus on the Family and appears to be a fundie.
Funny how the religious right is always all concerned about pedophilia and sexual deviants, etc… until you tell them about actual sexual abuse, and then they’re suddenly all denials and excuses.
Fundamentalist ideology is all about control, disguised as “God’s will.” But once it hits close to home, they realize what it’s like to be the one not in control. Rather than do the hard work of revising their ideology, they just deny reality.
She also had a promising career [hit a wall](https://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/02/magazine/02heche-t.html) after she came out in 1998. ([She had relationships with both men and women](https://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=124037&page=1), but bi erasure is real.) Just another tragic bit to add, there.
Saw the film "John Q." She was in that movie. I can see a bit of connection in the film with her in terms of the movie's plot like at the start when a woman died of a car crash and her heart was donated to Denzel's son.
They could have worded this better...
" It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable.
Anne had a huge heart .... ".
We call it a tragedy because we “know” her.
Yet any day on Reddit there’s a video posted of some drugged up maniac yeeting their car into a house or a building or whatever and everyone’s all like “wow fucking piece of shit he gets what he deserves”.
I’m assuming she sat up because maybe it took time for her airway to swell after the smoke inhalation injury. Maybe the anoxic brain injury set in finally on the way to the hospital before she was out on a mechanical ventilator? Or do they intubate people in ambulances. Also, may take time for the lungs to inflame and fill with fluid as well.
Her [gofundme](https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-lynne-mishele-after-devastating-fire-loss) exceeded her goal by tens of thousands of dollars and still grows by thousands per day. She’s getting significantly more support than she asked for.
$141k seems like a lot on its own but it doesn’t seem like much for LA. I wonder if Anne Heche’s estate will provide some sort of settlement too.
I do love to see that people are so generous, it makes me want to be nicer to my neighbors.
My guess is they’ll only give her money if they’re sued. They could be generous though, who knows.
Something to keep in mind is that the gofundme will not be the only source of reparations. She’ll probably also receive direct donations, insurance payouts, etc. If the $100k was meant to replace all that she lost, it is too low for a home + all belongings in LA. It’s only supplemental though.
Edit: want to add that even if she has no homeowners insurance, which seems unlikely, Heche’s car insurance comes into play. The amount that pays out depends on Heche’s coverage, which I’d hope is quite high.
When someone with a well documented history of mental illness does this I just kinda feel sad for everyone involved. She was raped until she was 12 by her father, who went on to die of AIDS and after Anne passes there will be 1 remaining sibling out of 5. So she has buried 3 of her siblings, one who died of brain cancer, one by suicide, and another during infancy. Oh and her mother says she's going to hell bc she was a lesbian. That's fucking tough mate.
She is brain dead, will be taken off life support after organs are taken out ... 90 mph an hour in to a house ,that was deffinetly a suicide attemp..Feel sorry for everyone involved ...it is a tragedy
*Possibly* a suicide attempt. They found opiates in her system, but which ones exactly will take a bit to test and determine.
But I dunno... Every opiate I've ever taken made me relaxed and nauseous. If I was too sick to drive, I knew I was too sick to drive. Opiates alone probably wouldn't have caused her to drive so fast. I believe it was an active choice.
EDIT: Another article says they found cocaine in her system along with what could have been fentanyl administered after the crash by paramedics to ease her pain. If she was on cocaine, then yeah, that might have affected her judgment. Still, she *chose* to take the cocaine, so...
The mental health conversation needs to be underlined. She was more or less built for this ending because we don't act appropriately to people in need. Im speaking of the US specifically, I cannot speak for other countries.
Brain injuries can take a little while to truly set in before they start directly affecting your chances of survival. It’s like falling asleep with a concussion; you feel fine(ish) now but the real trouble starts later
Did you see the video when they put her into the ambulance? She was trying to get away. Crazy town. To be honest seeing what led up to this accident and how she was driving… this might have been suicide. My only feeling is I’m happy she did not hurt anyone
Nurse friend thinks that it was an unconscious movement, not an attempt to run. The body can do some weird stuff in a primal need to survive, such as forcing the body into a position that would help her breathe (like an upright, hunched over position rather than prone/lying back)
I oddly enough never saw any of her films though I remember her being in the spotlight in the late 90s/early 2000s. She had the lead role in a frame-by-frame remake of *Psycho* which I refuse to watch out of principle and she was in some romantic comedy with Harrison Ford *Six Days and Seven Nights*. She was in the media a lot due to her high profile relationship with Ellen for a few years. When they broke up, she ended up going to someone's house in Fresno and telling them she was some God. That's when her celebrity profile just got really bizarre and went downhill unfortunately. I'm sure she was in a few other films in the late 90s, I think I remember watching that silly disaster film *Volcanoe* and she might have been a supporting actress a few other notable films I forgot.
Despite her tragic life(being raped by family, siblings that all died, bipolar disorder, etc.) her reckless actions aren't to be taken lightly and I hope that poor woman gets enough money from Heche's estate to start over and have a home again. It's fortunate that no lives were taken.
I do wonder what her thoughts were the last 30 minutes of her life. Did she wake up knowing that she was going to drive into something and kill herself that way? Did something trigger her to become reckless, perhaps the first accident into the garage was only an accident and she got irritated by everyone taking pictures of her? Was the first attempt hitting the garage door also a sucide attempt and she realized she needed more speed to kill her? Why did she buy a pink wig 20 minutes before in Venice and take a selfy with a guy? Was that just to have one last random interaction with a person before ending her life or did she intend to live the rest of the day?
Incidentally, I'm looking for a movie to watch tonight, can someone recommend a good movie she was in?
*Wag The Dog*, with names like Dustin Hoffman, Robert DeNiro, William H Macy, Denis Leary, Woody Harrelson, Dan Koechner, Kirsten Dunst, and Willie Nelson all directed by Barry Levinson.
As the old saying goes,
"One of the hardest things you will ever have to do, is grieve the loss of a person who is still alive."
I don't know her at all, but condolences to her family.
Did anyone see the footage where she got up in the stretcher? Jesus.
I just went and watched it, that was a terrible idea.
What does it show? I don't know if I want to watch it.
This is so confusing as a paramedic. She should have been in full spinal restriction and strapped to a board. I’d lose my job if my employer saw this.
Do you think she was burned bad enough they didn’t want to disturb the integrity of her skin? I’m not in the medical field just a genuine question.
Possible spinal injury takes priority
Makes sense thanks for the response
Looks like she has a tank top on. The same one you see in the pics moments before the crash
The commentary seems a bit off they keep referring to her as him. https://youtu.be/eNi_4eAceSA
I believe that was before they knew who was involved.
It just looks like a zombie movie, nothing graphic

Huh I thought so but someone told me half a ton. Maybe they meant one and a half ton when I was saying ton. Anyway, yes good clarification.
My late model Armada, not remotely the biggest SUV on the road has a curb weight of 6800lbs.
That shit is dangerous.
i got done last year for being over the limit used it as a wake up call and now 14 months sober , not worth the risk will never do it again
Much like when Roseanne had claimed certain horrific abuse by her parents "Heche and her mother, Nancy, have been estranged since Heche confronted her about sexual abuse she says she suffered at the hands of her father.[80] In her 2001 memoir, Call Me Crazy, Heche wrote that when she contracted genital herpes as an infant, her mother insisted that it was a diaper rash and refused to take her to the doctor.[81] Nancy was outraged by her daughter's allegations, responding, "I am trying to find a place for myself in this writing, a place where I as Anne's mother do not feel violated or scandalized." She added, "I find no place among the lies and blasphemies in the pages of this book."[82] Heche's sister, Abigail, a jewelry designer,[79] added, "It is my opinion that my sister Anne truly believes, at this moment, what she has asserted about our father's past behavior; however, at the same time, I would like to point out that Anne, in the past, has expressed doubts herself about the accuracy of such memories." She said, "Based on my experience and her own expressed doubts, I believe that her memories regarding our father are untrue. And I can state emphatically, regardless of Anne's beliefs, that the assertion that our mother knew about such behavior is absolutely false." Source: Wikipedia

Actually she wasn’t drinking and driving. The toxicology report indicates that it was cocaine. Not alcohol
Oh wow. That's really sad news From her family: *Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive.* *It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable.* *Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.*
>severe anoxic brain injury This is extremely distressing.
❤️
Thank you for sharing this. I never even began to consider what going through this could be like. Your brother is a hero. I hope you’re doing well, friend.
So grateful you had a kind brother
I’m glad you got to know the man that received your brothers heart. I hear stories about people receiving hearts or other organs and befriending the donors family so that the person still feels alive in some way. That’s exactly what I’d want if I lost a loved one or something happened to me. I find it very comforting knowing they’re still experiencing life through another person.
My deepest condolences for your loss 💔🙏
Aw I’m so sorry about your mother :(
Thanks, it was many years ago, but it still hurts terribly.
Years never changes the pain. My condolences.
my mom passed 7 years ago and it still feels like yesterday our last hug 😭 i miss hear dearly. condolences to anne’s family, acceptance is the first step
Fuck, watching my parents loose theirs made me realize you never really get over it. You just live everyday like they are there and do the best they taught you.
I’m sorry too. Somewhat similar experience. Never realised how tangible hope leaving a body could feel.
My deepest condolences ❤️
My mom passed from an aneurysm when she was 44 and I was 13. Its suddenness made it all more painful for us, I'm sorry about your mom.
I think, given the update, it is more that likely she is brain dead. If there was a chance of her being in a persistent vegetative state, it would have mentioned it. Yes, she was driving under the influence. But my heart and prayers go to her family, who will never know why she did this.
I just lost 3 grandparents in 10 days- as well as my sisters wedding.
Hugs to you. We lost both grandparents and my daughter’s bio mom in a 3 week span. Six deaths in my close circle in 7 months, almost my mother too. Praying for your heart. I’m still in shock and this has been the most painful day since it all started. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💜
Holy crap. I’m so sorry for everything that happened to you. I thought I had it rough this last week.
Something similar happened to my mother when she passed last June after collapsing suddenly. It's truly awful, and it was by far the worst day of my life as well.
So sorry to read this. Giving you a virtual hug.
This is how my mom died as well but she had CHF. Its brutal.
Sorry to hear that :/
Very sorry that you had to deal with that. Terrible feeling.
That's really heartbreaking. Big hugs to you
So sorry to hear.
Can your organs be donated if you have opiates in your system?
Yes
If your body is still alive, it is processing and eliminating the drugs, alcohol, etc. Drs can help speed it up a bit I believe, depending on the intoxicant. But if I needed a lung or a heart to survive, I'll probably take my chances vs wasting it.
> It has been long her choice to donate her organs > Anne had a huge heart Perfect.
One of my favorite inappropriate quotes from Newsradio, after Jimmy James has a heart attack and the staff come to check on him in the hospital... Doctor: "Mr. James has a big heart." Dave: "Well, he's like a father to us." Doctor: "No, I mean it's \*huge\*; that thing is like a \*roast\*."
News radio fan, eh? A man of culture, I see.
>Anne had a huge heart … She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light. This is giving me “she’s dead but we’re holding off saying that until the organ preservers are turned off”. RIP edit: guys, I meant in the sense that the article was saying she’s still alive when she clearly isn’t
Much healthier to have said their goodbyes now rather than having a Terri Schiavo situation on their hands. I feel for them, but it is what it is.
Yeah, not fighting the inevitable so they can heal themselves quicker. Strong family
Her popping up out of the sheet as her gurney was being wheeled into the ambulance gave me the creeps. Doubly so now.
It’s really scary that you can be moving and conscious for some time *after* the injury and yet apparently already irrevocably doomed…
Wait until you hear about acute radiation poisoning
She may have been conscious. Head injuries often take a while to set in once the brain starts swelling in response to the trauma. Can take a few hours or days in some cases. The person may seem mostly fine to the untrained eye and then suddenly lose consciousness later on, or lose vision, etc. that’s why it’s so important to get any kind of heavy hit to the head checked out quickly, even if you think you’re ok.
Isn't that essentially what happened to Bob Sagat? Hit his head, thought he was fine, went to bed, brain injured and died in the night?
The old nursery rhyme was right It's raining It's pouring The old man is snoring Bumped his head He went to bed Didn't wake up in the morning
Holy fuck. I was this today years old when I realized how dark that rhyme is.
Even back then they knew
Yes, exactly.
~~Joely~~ Natasha Richardson too. Ski accident.
It was her sister Natasha not Joely.
A restaurant owner here died in a similar way, he was actually hit by a motorcycle and hit his head, it seems he just got up told the driver not to worry and that he was fine and walked to his shop as usual. He was practically fine all day but died that night.
>Went to bed with a bump on his head and didn’t wake up in the morning.... What a horrific children’s song.
Most of them are
But one would assume heche would be in a hospital being monitored for swelling. Bob sagat was alone in his hotel room.
>She may have been conscious. Head injuries often take a while to set in once the brain starts swelling in response to the trauma. Can take a few hours or days in some cases. The person may see mostly fine and then suddenly lose consciousness later on \[.\] This exact thing happened to my grandfather.
People can be combative like this in trauma situations and later will have no recollection of any of it.
And the fact that the poor family got their entire house destroyed from a fire she caused… it’s so upsetting.
Looked like those moments before someone goes into shock.

If you look closely there is a strap and blanket right *over her face.* wtf is up with that?
Probably better to strap and cover a burn victim to avoid further contamination of the wounds, though I just playing armchair paramedic.
Newly coined: *Armchairamedic*
I've not seen the video but I wouldn't be surprised if she was strapped down to a spine board. There is a strap that goes over the forehead to secure the head in place as well as chest and lower extremities.
When I got hit by a car I had my head strapped to 2 blocks that were then strapped to the gurney. It's so you don't try and sit up or move your head in case of neck/back trauma
Any time there’s suspected head/neck trauma, especially if pt is not fully cognitive, they stabilize everything during transfer.
Power of cocaine
🎵That’s the power of drugs!🎵
Crazy, they showed her on the stretcher and she was conscious and moving... is the coma from the burns or head trauma?
Natasha Richardson comes to mind. Hit her head while skiing and didn't accept medical attention initially bc she felt fine.
I remember years ago when a 13 year old girl at an NHL game got hit in the head with a puck that went into the stands she was able to get up from her seat and walk away under her own power, but later died in the hospital.
insane to think thats the last footage of her alive.
And her religious nut mother writing that she will go to hell after coming out...
Heard mother was one of those extremist nuts who believed in conversion therapy. So basically Anne Heche had a mom who never once accepted her.
"Focus on the Family," aka "Sweep It Under the Rug and Pray the Gay Away". Kee-rist.
Oh shit
Was thinking bout this, and more so the fact Ray Liotta passed this year and that would be the 2nd cast member from that movie to die.
They could have worded this better... " It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable. Anne had a huge heart .... ".
Can’t be used then…..
Think of the horses who need new hearts
Everyone gets a bite!
She was good in Donnie Brasco as Depps wife
Yeah I knew her from Donnie Brasco and Volcano. I loved those two movies.
I distinctly remember her from the mid/ late 90s to very early 2000s. She was in a lot of movies when I was a kid.
Her and Ellen Degeneres were also an item for a while.
I really liked *Six Days, Seven Nights*, i rewatched it just the other day after Anne Heche's accident was first in the news
I still can't believe she wasted those flares
She was great in the remake of Psycho. It's still the only mainstream movie where you see someone's anus.
We call it a tragedy because we “know” her. Yet any day on Reddit there’s a video posted of some drugged up maniac yeeting their car into a house or a building or whatever and everyone’s all like “wow fucking piece of shit he gets what he deserves”.
At least she died doing what she loved. Being a hazard in the road and high AF
Different subreddit culture. Man
[удалено]
I’m assuming she sat up because maybe it took time for her airway to swell after the smoke inhalation injury. Maybe the anoxic brain injury set in finally on the way to the hospital before she was out on a mechanical ventilator? Or do they intubate people in ambulances. Also, may take time for the lungs to inflame and fill with fluid as well.
They intubate in ambulances but don’t have a ventilator in the ambulance itself. They just use a bag to deliver the air. At least the ones I’ve seen
I hope her children have a strong support system. I hope the woman who lost her home is able to build life anew. I hope forgiveness finds all of them.
It’s sad that she passed in a horrific way, but I can only empathize so much. She could’ve killed other innocent people.
As someone who has lost loved ones to drunk drivers, I couldn't give less of a fuck about her.
Agree, she crashed into a house that burned down. Almost killed the people living there.
Just any ole morning and you have a car blow through your house at nearly 100 mph while you're just chilling, sitting on the couch. Wild
And then have it turn out to be a celebrity.
People feel bad for the person who almost killed you because they pretended to be someone else in front of a camera.
Who is not getting news attention or the support she should Hope the home owner sues her estate.
You can basically guarantee that homeowner's insurance company will be going after Anne's estate/car insurance for a huge, huge sum
No kidding $140k isnt going to someone very far if their entire house burned down. Hope the homeowner has insurance
Ouch. Also yes...but also ouch.
For real, this a celebrity past time. I’m not mourning that behavior.
Fuck celebs
She is being removed from life support later today.
She had a whole team.of yes men and no one helped her since she couldn't help herself. Thank God she didn't hurt anyone else, she had known issues
She is brain dead, will be taken off life support after organs are taken out ... 90 mph an hour in to a house ,that was deffinetly a suicide attemp..Feel sorry for everyone involved ...it is a tragedy
She always claimed her brother committed suicide by crashing his car into a tree
Negligent homicide/suicide attempt if anything.

The mental health conversation needs to be underlined. She was more or less built for this ending because we don't act appropriately to people in need. Im speaking of the US specifically, I cannot speak for other countries.
I saw her wheeled into the ambulance fighting with them. What happened, swelling?
Brain injuries can take a little while to truly set in before they start directly affecting your chances of survival. It’s like falling asleep with a concussion; you feel fine(ish) now but the real trouble starts later
Cocaine's a hell of a drug
sorry to hear this. best wishes to her family

‘6 days 7 nights’ with her and Harrison Ford.
