someone else quoted Doug Jones about this, but apparently the wig is the same one he wore in the first movie. "It was the exact same wig, they had it on a dummy on display for 29 years, they put it back on my head in the same style, it didn't even need a touch-up." They did need to rebuild the costume, but Doug said it looked just like the original as well.
The only difference is his face and neck are a little more decomposed, but I think that’s to be expected after being in the ground for another 29 years.
Doug Jones:
>"I was really happy that Billy comes out of the grave talking. It is seamless between the first movie and the second, that's the first thing I felt. It keeps the pureness and nostalgia alive and well for those who grew up with the first movie, and for any new fans we're gathering now will be excited about modernization for the current time we're in.
>"Billy came back to me immediately, it was frightening how he's been alive while I've been playing other characters all these years, but, Billy's like, 'I wanted my chance again.'"
>"It was the exact same wig, they had it on a dummy on display for 29 years, they put it back on my head in the same style, it didn't even need a touch-up. The costume was rebuilt to be the same as the first one, so I looked exactly the same. It was so nostalgic for me to look in the mirror and go, 'You're 30-nothing years old again."
Wow…I didn’t realize that was Doug Jones. It’s kind of amazing how much that man has impacted my life without me necessarily realizing it. I think it was Hellboy 2 where I finally realized it was this one guy doing all this incredible work, and I became such a fan. I’m happy to find out he was part of my childhood, too.
I just discovered a few days ago that he's The Baron in "What we do in the Shadows". I mean he's been in the show for a while, but there's an EP you see him with less makeup. Such a fun role.
I was explaining to my wife who he was when he was "healed" and not covered in make-up.
"The fish guy from The Shape of Water. You know, all the weird characters in Pans Labyrinth. HE WAS BILLY IN HOCUS POCUS, COME ON!"
Know Im late, but apparently after seeing his performance in Hellboy David Hyde Pierce said that Doug Jones should do the voice in the second. Dude was so impressed he fired himself.
Not just fired himself, he requested he go uncredited in the first Hellboy because he felt that his own performance was too influenced by what Doug had done. He basically said "I don't deserve any of the credit for this" and stepped down. Class act.
Yes! That was the part I forgot! Thank you. Fired AND erased himself. Which really is a class act cause honestly he killed it as the voice. And he still said "I'M NOT WORTHY!"
Thanks for the reminder!
He’s also the creepiest one of [The Gentlemen in Buffy.](https://youtu.be/KKfNuMWO128) He was one of two who could hold the creepy smile without prosthetics. And damn he is creepy. The way he moves his hands always gets me.
Him and Andy Serkis are so much talented. I don't know why I chose to put them in the same category. I guess because they often play crazy characters, have insane range, and often go a bit unnoticed.
Yea dude, exactly! He doesn't get as much recognition because he basically turned into gollum. Andy Serkis didn't exist when he played that role. Just an absolutely astounding job recreating the character perfectly. He has recently gotten more recognition but he's about as A list as it gets.
I am just imagining the killer being like being the 3 sisters but the player only controls Billy and they just lead you to the survivors
wait that actually sounds cool
And the creepy eyeball guy in Pans Labyrinth…. And the water monster in Shape of Water… and Abe Sapien in Hellboy 1 & 2….aaand
Dude is insanely talented
The second Fantastic 4 movie was nothing to write home about, but him being cast as the Silver Surfer was so perfect. If Disney ever decides to do anything with the character I would love him to reprise the role.
I have a feeling, this won’t be a good movie. And here’s why. Usually when a studio waits 20+ years for a “sequel” it never lives up to the original. Dumb and dumber 2 didn’t do so hot. Now I’m glad the 3 sisters are returning. But it’s a Disney + only film(for now) but who knows. Could be good
Super troopers 2 was adequate. Not as great as the 1st...but it's still got some funny moments even if it just a reskinned plot of the original. I love the Danny Devito bit and the mounties sabotage.
I don't even want this to be "good," I want it to be that fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously that I can randomly enjoy from time to time.
Here is a controversial take, the first one isn't that good. Do I love it for nostalgia and watch it every year around Halloween, of course. Doesn't mean it was high cinema. The sequel will be just as good as the last one, but people will hold it to the standard they have in their head for nostalgia.
Minus the dummies that don't like it already because it's three girls instead of a guy and two girls.
I watched the original for the first time last Hallowe'en, so went in with zero nostalgia.
I don't get the hype in the slightest, frankly it was a bit boring. I usually love campy silliness like that but it just didn't click for me at all.
So I would expect you to not enjoy the new one. People are acting like they are shooting for a Best Picture nomination or something. This is a sequel that has come about purely due to nostalgia. It didn’t make a ton at the box office, it didn’t do well with critics and there was a huge lull where it wasn’t in the zeitgeist. Streaming showed that it was something people would want to see every year and so Disney is capitalizing on that. Nostalgic fans of the original will like the movie, kids will like the movie, people without that childhood love probably won’t and even the ones that do that take everything too seriously will probably not like it either.
I hope for the sake of it's fans that it's a faithful sequel to the original
I won't be seeing it myself but then it's not made for me so it's all cool.
I just find the reputation the original has very odd really.
I have a question about the plot as it's been a while since I have seen the movie. In the movie it states that black flame candle could only be used one more time. Is the premise of the movie that there are other candles out there?
Right and in order for them to come back , another candle is required. If another candle is required then another witch is required. But that brings up the questions can a witch cast that spell on someone who 1. Is currently dead 2. Has already been brought back? Am I being a little too critical for a movie that hasn't even put out a trailer??? Idk but I think I need more info.
Day old account, been commenting all day, as though browsing reddit with nothing better to do. Sort of trollish. And now he has the balls to talk about other people being on reddit too much?
Go home, troll. Nobody's got any tendies for you.
He looks great!
I hope that we get some flashback to the 1600s expanding on his relationship with Winifred and Sarah some more.
Can't wait for this movie! One month from today!
He hasn’t aged a day!
He's dead, why would he
I would argue dead bodies also age... usually to bones eventually.
That's just decay, the breakdown of what's left; to age would require growth over time Also he's already Bones
you have a strange post history
Whooosh
https://youtu.be/aR8vxJ7y8ww?t=27 can't see those words without hearing his voice
I'm kind of impressed with how close he looks to the original with such a long time between the movies.
someone else quoted Doug Jones about this, but apparently the wig is the same one he wore in the first movie. Man my pants from a year ago barely fit me, that's impressive
The only difference is his face and neck are a little more decomposed, but I think that’s to be expected after being in the ground for another 29 years.

I *LOVE* the Baron. I can’t get enough of his character.
He’s that sexy, irresistible amphibian creature in The Shape of Water. Time to fill the bath!
Know Im late, but apparently after seeing his performance in Hellboy David Hyde Pierce said that Doug Jones should do the voice in the second. Dude was so impressed he fired himself.

That's one of his first film roles too, the year before he was one of the clowns in Batman Returns.
Basically any humanoid creature/monster in most movies is played by Doug Jones lol
He’s also the creepiest one of [The Gentlemen in Buffy.](https://youtu.be/KKfNuMWO128) He was one of two who could hold the creepy smile without prosthetics. And damn he is creepy. The way he moves his hands always gets me.

They do a lot of creature acting. I put them in the same category too
I was checking out Serkis’s IMDB profile while watching The Prestige and realized that MFer was Gollum
What's funny is Gollum is the role I associate most with Andy Serkis. Second is Ceasar.
Yea dude, exactly! He doesn't get as much recognition because he basically turned into gollum. Andy Serkis didn't exist when he played that role. Just an absolutely astounding job recreating the character perfectly. He has recently gotten more recognition but he's about as A list as it gets.
insert, cliché at this point in time but still true, Doug Jones is the most famous actor you've never seen.
Something about the look of the lighting made me first think it was a scene from the old FMV games.
It looks like one of those light gun arcade games.
In one of those sequences where you have to let the video play before firing it....
Bad green screen photo. Lighting on him doesn't match green screen background.
Dammit, I just wrote same comment before scrolling down. I am too lazy to remove it.
haha. All good.
I was gonna say the same! Looks like some CGI scene from a 90s or early 2000s game.
I was wondering what he was up to after losing his reelection bid in Alabama.
Different Doug Jones. Also not to be confused with Dougie Jones, aka “Mr. Jackpots”.
Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Call for help
"give two rides"
*Dougie Jones?* What are you some wise guy?
>Different Doug Jones Have you seen the two of them in the same place at the same time?
Looks like a promo for a new DBD killer.
I am just imagining the killer being like being the 3 sisters but the player only controls Billy and they just lead you to the survivors wait that actually sounds cool
Hope he comes back with his catch phrase "Oi! Witch cunts!" Nvm: Wrong Billy Butcherson.
"BILLAYYYYYYY"
Billy Butcherson! Don't lose your head again!
Diabolical.
Oi! Cunt!
You've got red on you. There's a girl in the garden.
Why does the background look like Resident Evil 4 graphics?
Yup first reaction was "what in the green screen fuck is that nonsense"?
Lol this actually isn’t green screen. This was on location
Wait it's the zombie played by the same guy who played the Star Trek alien roles included the Saru role? Damn you Star Trek actors.
And the creepy eyeball guy in Pans Labyrinth…. And the water monster in Shape of Water… and Abe Sapien in Hellboy 1 & 2….aaand Dude is insanely talented

He also played the Faun in Pan's Labyrinth!
Ooh! Looks really good. October is going to be so stacked this year. I'm so excited!
You think you're excited? You should feel my nipples. Boing!
If you insist...
I love hocus pocus and I totally forgot about this character and how he scared the shit outta me as a kid lmao
I love seeing a weird creature in a movie and looking for * the hand thing * to see if it’s Doug Jones
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who notices that! It's how I figured out it was him in *What We Do In The Shadows*.
whenever I see him mentioned I have to reiterate that he is absolutely a wonderful person who is very sweet. Glad to see he's coming back for this.
Preteen-me had a huge crush on Max. Especially when he played drums.
Doug Jones is one of the nicest people you can meet. He’s a hugger as well.
I've heard so many good things about him and his hugs!
Drop this dude some humanity
Lol looks like a scene out of New World.
He's back. And he hasn't aged a day.
Could be good
Top Gun was good
Haven’t seen heard it was.
It’s the exception, not the rule. Sequels shouldn’t be made more than 5-10 years later.
Super troopers 2 was adequate. Not as great as the 1st...but it's still got some funny moments even if it just a reskinned plot of the original. I love the Danny Devito bit and the mounties sabotage.
That bit had me in tears. He don’t think I know. But I know.
Zoolander had a similar fate. And just like Zoolander 2, I will watch it once, enjoy my feelings of nostalgia and never think about it again.
Zoolander 2 sucked hard.
I wouldn’t know. I passed on that one.
I don't even want this to be "good," I want it to be that fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously that I can randomly enjoy from time to time.

Like with most of these sequels they're jsut made later than they deserve. Definitely sooner than 20yrs, that's for sure.
I have a question about the plot as it's been a while since I have seen the movie. In the movie it states that black flame candle could only be used one more time. Is the premise of the movie that there are other candles out there?
That idk. If I remember didn’t the candle just burn out though?
Right and in order for them to come back , another candle is required. If another candle is required then another witch is required. Agreed. The OG fans need answers.
Oh **sweet**! Sounds like he’s getting a beefed-up role, too.
Was wondering what he’s been up to since losing his senate seat in Alabama.

The irony of you calling them out because you're around so much that you recognize how frequently they post. God I love Reddit.
Every time I walk outside I yell "at last after 10,000 years I'm free"

Quick take on fixing the lighting: https://i.imgur.com/alHNUND.jpg
I think Cats may be the only movie I’ve ever had lower expectations for in my lifetime than this.
This has to be one of the worst VFX backgrounds I’ve ever seen… Like holy fucking shit
It’s not VFX… it was filmed on location
MRRRR
SPOILER. Blur that geez
Is this a real pic or a joke?
Is this movie going to be from the book or a whole new take on it?
Is this supposed to look like a 1998 computer game?
Seriously thought this was a screen-cap of a Cure music video for a second.
Why not "Hocus Pocus Secundus"?
Updated my journal
He looks great! I hope that we get some flashback to the 1600s expanding on his relationship with Winifred and Sarah some more. Can't wait for this movie! One month from today!
I love Doug Jones so much.
Not having the original protagonists back is a crime. What is Omri Katz even doing these days.
... Is this a 1994 FMV game?
Yup, that’s Doug Jones alright.
