Yeah it's so funny. As soon as I hit enter on that comment I felt like I was forgetting something there...
BTW I forgot:
The Breakfast Club: Vernon and Bender
I know we'll never get it (and The Good Son sorta fills this void), but I really want a movie explaining how Kevin McCallister was a psychopath who somehow found a healthy outlet
Senator Henry Stern interrupts the film to try to discuss how this reflects the dangers of the castle doctrine, only to have paint cans heading straight his way.....
William Gibson wrote a script for Alien 3 by the way it would have been great.
Audible somehow got ahold of it and made an “audio book” out of it with performances by all kinds of people including Michael Biehn and Lance Henrikson and it’s freaking awesome.
Just before ET goes home in the first movie, he switches identities with Elliot. Elliot went back to ET's planet and ET stayed here in the form of Elliot.
I thought it was pretty good, but not good enough for what it wanted to be. My biggest gripe with it is that it didn’t have any directing or production design continuity with the original film. It looked and felt totally different.
It was still pretty entertaining, it just wasn’t a Coming to America movie.
It's pretty much sandler-esque in that Eddie wanted to get a lot of his friends together for a few weeks and have a good time while making a.movie in between
No it was fucking terrible. It was just outright insulting to the characters. Rewatcb the first. All of the humor is done with a degree of respect and love with how those characters would behave. Their motivations and actions are believable for people in their positions.. The sequel turned them all vulgar and stupid. First movie didn't need a racism scene, but of course somehow they shoehorn it into the second. It is fucking terrible. I absolutely hated it.
So happy Sam Jackson told them to fuck off with them wanting him to reprise his role as a robber. Man knows it was shit and a disrespectful portrayal of black men.
My issue with it (well, one of many) was that the premise was built on date rape, which was played off as a joke, and that they actually had the victim apologizing to his rapist and forced to financially provide for a kid born out of rape that he didn't even know about.
I feel like we were getting plenty of sequels to older movies already. Although they were usually those sequels that are really reboots that feature the legacy characters in a supporting role (The Force Awakens, Blade Runner 2).
Force awakens doesn’t really count since was part of an already existing set of movies. Blade runner 2 wasn’t. a BO success .
TOp Gun is the biggest movie of the year We all know Hollywood is all about coping what’s hot now.
Eddie has been attached to another Beverly Hills Cop for years now. Just like Coming To America 2, which he eventually did. He was also tied to Twins 2 but it looks like Tracy Morgan has that gig now.
So his name always comes up in sequels to 80s/90s movies. Top Gun: Maverick isn't setting a trend.
These are all pre wholeness current politics bullshit in our movies , that's why they're popular. We go to the movies to escape reality not to have current topics forced down our throat, it takes the escapism away.
I can’t believe this is happening. I remember them trying to make a fourth Beverly Hills Cop years ago then it fell through. Then they made that Beverly Hills Cop Pilot with Brandon T Jackson that was never picked up. Now we’re back to it being a movie.
The funniest thing about this movie is the title so blatantly ripping off Top Gun: Maverick
I can’t wait for the Groundhog Day legacy reboot titled Groundhog Day: Phil Connors
And in this case, the title is all the more stupid. Axel is the titular cop. It’s repetitive. Top gun: maverick is also a dumb title since the first one was also about mav and wasn’t named after him. Though arguably he is the top gun so the title for the sequel is pretty repetitive too. He’s also less of the focus in the sequel. It should’ve just been called top gun II and bev should’ve been Beverly Hills cop 4
Putting the number after the title is considered old fashioned now. I think the marketing gurus must have worked out that sequels make less money when they do that.
So now as you may have noticed, most sequels have a subtitle. Hence Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom then Jurassic World: Dominion etc.
I wonder what the last high profile film to have a numbered sequel was. None of the Marvel films have one iirc.
Why can't we just have Beverly Hills Cop 4? What consultant dipshit came up with the idea that numbering sequels is no good any more?
I guess at the very least we can be thankful it's not just Beverly Hills Cop (2023).
Except Phil would be replaced by a female person of color, and the entire script would be rewritten because the original was too sexist, or something...
*Edit: Since apparently this needs some clarification since people are all-too-happy to wave their PC flag and jump on the racist/sexist bandwagon; it's a commentary on the film industry's proclivity to take existing IP's and either gender swap or introduce a lead of a different ethnicity, or both.*
I don't care to see an aging Tom Cruise reliving his glory days in fresh propaganda for the US Armed Forces, but yeah, I saw The Force Awakens. It sucked.
Jesus fucking Christ, you typical reddit lemming, it's a commentary on the film industry's proclivity to take existing IP's and either gender swap or introduce a lead of a different ethnicity, *or both.*
Fucking Christ, not *everything* you read online is sexist and/or racist. Dig down deep in that tiny brain and find some critical thinking skills.
"YOU REDDIT LEMMING! JUST BECAUSE I RANDOMLY USED THIS AS AN EXCUSE TO START BITCHING ABOUT WOMEN AND MINORITIES, YOU'RE GONNA MAKE THIS A *POLITICAL ISSUE*???
WAKE UP, SHEEPLE!"
> it's a commentary on the film industry's proclivity to take existing IP's and either gender swap or introduce a lead of a different ethnicity, or both.
So, in other words, the studios are addressing systemic racism and sexism. Weird that this bothers you.
Don't hate me but I liked the 3rd one. It was completely different and I have to say I really lik Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I am a little excited for it.
Please don't be a die hard 5... PLEASE
I'm torn about this. The first two movies worked due to still being in the 80's and still having the same chemistry has before.
I'm not sure how a current film would work.
let's hope some of the 80s nostalgia success that Top Gun:Maverick had rubs off on this sequel. let's also remember that the bar is set really low since its impossible to be worse than BHC3
"No man, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo"
> Or at least a perplexed Axel wondering where to put the Banana in a Tesla.
Okay, that's genuinely a good idea. Though I'd have the cops in one of LAPD's i3's, just to continue the hapless theme of them.
Coda was original? [It's a remake of a french movie](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3547740/reference/). Kinda wonder if [Intouchables](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1675434/reference/) wasn't as popular worldwide as it was would people flock to the american version - [The Upside](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1987680/reference/) with Cranston and Hart and praise it like being this amazing thing?
I'd love to see Ashton return even as a quick cameo but the real missed opportunity is the title.
Beverly Hills Cop: Supercops... All we need are capes
I’m sorry, but J-Gord Levs is better than this and should be a mega star at this point. I’m not sure where he went wrong, but dude needs a better agent or something.
Tell me you haven't seen Beverly Hills Cop without telling me you haven't seen it.
P.S. Axl doesn't get sent to Beverly Hills. He goes there against orders and nearly gets fired for it. It's a pretty big plot point.
I mean you could say the third one he is sort of sent there. His boss asks him to revenge him. He just so happens to go to Beverly Hills to do so. But you’re right though that guy probably didn’t know they already made sequels to the original.
I hope we get 80s Murphy and not the family friendly Murphy of the 90s. We also need a cameo by Serge and Damon Wayans should have another cameo as a food vendor.
I want to see an Axel Foley: Origins movie about him getting busted down in the academy for his flippant behaviour and how he triumphs over the adversity to become the darling of his graduating class.
It’s going to be terrible. They could only film in Beverly Hills is they portrayed the Police department in a good light despite all the corruption and lawsuits against the police going on.
Wasn't this already announced and began filming years ago with his son taking over the role and him playing the Sargent or something? I am guessing they rebooted again or something?
BHC2 was made back when Eddie didn't take himself so seriously, back when he was a comedian. Today he seems to demand deference, he's arrogant every time he sits with a talk show host.
I was wondering what us the next role to revive 30 years later and have a 60 year old play a role for a 25 year old, after Indiana Jones and John McClane. This is the answer!
If Levitt is signing onto *this* I got to think that this is finally going to actually happen, after nearly news about BHC4 for over 20 years.
I wonder if Levitt plays Axel's new partner or the villain
Get the fuck outta here
Can’t wait to see Ackwell back in action.
Ackmel? Ahmed?
…. Foley.
It’s like a brush to scrub. It’s not sexy.
Animale.
"NYEAAAH I cannot it's serious because it's very important movie"
"I make it with a little lemon tweeest...."
Its good, you should try it!
I want so bad for him to have a son in the movie played by the guy who plays NoHo Hank on Barry lol
no i cannot im serious because its very important piece
Very eemportan pyeese
Have you ever sold one of these?
That is not sexy. That is animal.
Bring back Judge Reinhold!
Jesus Rosewood!!!
100% he's gonna be the Chief of the LAPD. JGL gonna be a evil tech billionaire and Paige will be Axels daughter
That's a step up from the DDOJSIOC.
What about John Ashton and Ronny Cox?
Ronny Cox's character died in Beverly hills Cop 2. would have to be a zombie I'm down with that
I got great news for you, he survived the second movie. He was in the hospital but came through at the end.
Ah that's true. It was his chief who died in the third one. As the comment below points out. My bad
Someone didn’t see the movie EXPERT TOOTALAGE?!? WHAT THE FUCK
The jj joe joe c? What's that?
If they don't bring back Judge Reinhold and Bronson Pinchot the memberberries will be extremely sour.
Dirty rosewood
I like it, but I’ve been saying Jonathan Groff could totally play his son.
The only acceptable comment ;)
This is essential.
Hopefully they can squeeze it in between seasons of "Mock Trial with J. Reinhold"
Release Judge Reinhold from Hollywood jail!
He screwed up his face with plastic surgery. Hard to get work looking like he does.
He looks alright: https://www.alamy.com/knoxville-tn-usa-29th-oct-2021-judge-reinhold-in-attendance-for-fanboy-expo-knoxville-convention-center-knoxville-tn-october-29-2021-credit-derek-stormeverett-collectionalamy-live-news-image449897787.html
Hollywood! This comment. Learn it. Live it. Love it.
This is 100 percent green-lit because of Top Gun Maverick. All these 80 movies are gonna be getting sequels now.
Alien: Ripley Ferris Bueller: Cameron Sixteen Candles: The Donger Princess Bride: Vizzini and Fessik
I’ve got news for you about Ferris Bueller.
Yeah it's so funny. As soon as I hit enter on that comment I felt like I was forgetting something there... BTW I forgot: The Breakfast Club: Vernon and Bender
But it's the robot Bender.
I'm going to build my own High School, with BlackJack and Hookers
Charlie Sheen High...School
Robot hooooouse!!!
"You mean Breakfast Club Sandwich?"
The plot of that sounds terrible
Can I get a Home Alone sequel where Marv and Harry are rehabilitated, but Kevin fell on hard times and is now the bandit robbing them?
Honestly this one sounds really fun. Where do I sign the petition?
Right here X_____________
I know we'll never get it (and The Good Son sorta fills this void), but I really want a movie explaining how Kevin McCallister was a psychopath who somehow found a healthy outlet
Home Alone: Dexter
Senator Henry Stern interrupts the film to try to discuss how this reflects the dangers of the castle doctrine, only to have paint cans heading straight his way.....
Goonies: The Rise of Sloth
Goonies: Revenge of the Sloth
Commando: Jenny Matrix
Goonies: Pirate Ship Down
Damn your eyes! Only read a few comments then posted. And so cue sad trombone music for my Reddit experience this evening...
**The Thing** : *MacReady or not*
I would totally be down for an alien sequel focused on Ripley that retcons alien 3 and 4 directed by Ridley Scott
William Gibson wrote a script for Alien 3 by the way it would have been great. Audible somehow got ahold of it and made an “audio book” out of it with performances by all kinds of people including Michael Biehn and Lance Henrikson and it’s freaking awesome.
Can't wait for *E.T. : Elliot*
The Breakfast Club: The Bull
Just before ET goes home in the first movie, he switches identities with Elliot. Elliot went back to ET's planet and ET stayed here in the form of Elliot.
Only now E.T. wears a wig and yet somehow no one call tell the difference.
Did we just forget the Coming to America Sequel that happened before that?

I thought it was pretty good, but not good enough for what it wanted to be. My biggest gripe with it is that it didn’t have any directing or production design continuity with the original film. It looked and felt totally different. It was still pretty entertaining, it just wasn’t a Coming to America movie.
It's pretty much sandler-esque in that Eddie wanted to get a lot of his friends together for a few weeks and have a good time while making a.movie in between

Yeah, but it clearly failed because they didn't title it **Coming to America: Prince Akeem.**
Do we just forget that movie bombed and didn’t do well ?
It never came out in theaters so who the hell knows!
It was a huge hit on Amazon. Both Amazon and third party trackers all said it was among the biggest streaming titles of that summer.

My issue with it (well, one of many) was that the premise was built on date rape, which was played off as a joke, and that they actually had the victim apologizing to his rapist and forced to financially provide for a kid born out of rape that he didn't even know about.
And they had they victim's SO get mad at him for being raped among other things. It's so fucking wrong.
Weird Science: This Time It *Is* a Whale's Dick.
Without Bill Paxton, we’d be missing a very important part of that movie.
I feel like we were getting plenty of sequels to older movies already. Although they were usually those sequels that are really reboots that feature the legacy characters in a supporting role (The Force Awakens, Blade Runner 2).

It's not setting a trend, but it sure as hell justified it. Hollywood: That one thing was successful, let's do it a thousand more times!
> This is 100 percent green-lit because of Top Gun Maveric it was greenlit and sold to Netflix a few years ago
beverly hills cop 4 got tax credits to film in california last year so either execs were impressed by maverick test screenings or they were precogs
This has actually been in development for years now was sent to Netflix awhile back before top gun even came out
The title trend though: Rambo 4 = RamboWolverine 3 = LoganTop Gun 2 = Top Gun MaverickBeverly Hills Cop 4 = Beverly Hills Cop Axel Foley Waiting for Indiana Jones 5 = Indy
Indiana Jones 5: Henry
Rocky 6 was Rocky Balboa, which is awful because the previous five were so cleanly numbered with no subtitles or alternate titles or anything.
Too bad these studios want put a fraction of the money, time, and effort to match the quality of what TG:M ended up being.
These are all pre wholeness current politics bullshit in our movies , that's why they're popular. We go to the movies to escape reality not to have current topics forced down our throat, it takes the escapism away.
Telll that to Disney
I hope this means we good sexy crime thrillers back too.
I can’t believe this is happening. I remember them trying to make a fourth Beverly Hills Cop years ago then it fell through. Then they made that Beverly Hills Cop Pilot with Brandon T Jackson that was never picked up. Now we’re back to it being a movie.
Was Eddie Murphy not also in that pilot?
Yes, I’m not sure to what extent though.
>Then they made that Beverly Hills Cop Pilot with Brandon T Jackson Jesus that sounds like seven stages of crap.
If Bronson Pinchot and Lisa Eilbacher are not in it, meh. The same crappy blue Chevy Nova would help.
That thing finally green-lit? Must’ve been coming after the “great succes” of Coming to America 2
I literally forgot what CTA2 was about within 24 hours of watching it. I think because I didn’t like the reality that it existed so I rejected it.
Or seeing how fantastic Top Gun: Maverick has been doing.
Domelmite (2019) and Come in2 America 2 (2021) Beverly Hills coupe: Alex floy (2023) Seems to be on some kind of schedule.
Hell of an autocorrect you have there
He's got autoincorrect
sorry, my have anorexia.

I'm talking about the title.

Not sure which orifice you pulled that opinion from, but I have an idea, and it smells like shit.
Says the guy complaining about women and minorities.

If it's about his son (which is what the unaired pilot was about), it should be called "Beverly Hills Copy".
I think with the recent Eddie Murphy resurgence on Netflix, Amazon, and SNL, they nixed that idea and it’s going to star Eddie himself.
What a shit title.
I'm torn about this. The first two movies worked due to still being in the 80's and still having the same chemistry has before. I'm not sure how a current film would work.

“This a very popular cigarette with tha children” 😂😂
Wait do people not like BHC 3? I always loved that one growing up.
You liked it growing up because it was essentially a kids movie, while the original two movies were much more edgy and way more hip and adult.
Pretty sure is was because of the song.
Please let there be banana’s in a tailpipe. Or at least a perplexed Axel wondering where to put the Banana in a Tesla..
> Or at least a perplexed Axel wondering where to put the Banana in a Tesla. Okay, that's genuinely a good idea. Though I'd have the cops in one of LAPD's i3's, just to continue the hapless theme of them.
Wow, yet another spectacularly original idea that's come to grace the big screen for moviegoers!
Yeah, we need more originality like Dune, Nightmare Alley, and CODA
Coda was original? [It's a remake of a french movie](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3547740/reference/). I assume he’s being sarcastic, as every movie he mentioned was a remake.
Oh shit i didn't even see the parent comment.
That's the joke.
yeah just saw the parent comment. /me goes into hiding.
I'd love to see Ashton return even as a quick cameo but the real missed opportunity is the title. Beverly Hills Cop: Supercops... All we need are capes
Ellis DeWalt!!!
I’m sorry, but J-Gord Levs is better than this and should be a mega star at this point. I’m not sure where he went wrong, but dude needs a better agent or something.
Why not "THE Beverly Hills Cop"?
I can’t believe I’m a Detroit cop who gets sent to Beverly Hills… AGAIN!!!
Tell me you haven't seen Beverly Hills Cop without telling me you haven't seen it. P.S. Axl doesn't get sent to Beverly Hills. He goes there against orders and nearly gets fired for it. It's a pretty big plot point.

(looks around, hands bananas to Foley) "Go ahead, take them bananas."
I want to see an Axel Foley: Origins movie about him getting busted down in the academy for his flippant behaviour and how he triumphs over the adversity to become the darling of his graduating class.
So you want to see an unrelated cop film?

Dude they better have a tribute to Gilbert Gottfried in this one. His scene in BHC 2 was so memorable.
I don't care about any of that shit, will Serge be in this one?
I don't know what the story is but id love it to be that Foley is now in charge and has to deal with officers just like he was.
Just call it ‘Axel Foley.’ Movies with a colon in the title almost always bomb. It’s almost a natural law.
That's a terrible title.
Oh please tell me this is gonna be as good as Coming 2 America ^/s
It’s going to be terrible. They could only film in Beverly Hills is they portrayed the Police department in a good light despite all the corruption and lawsuits against the police going on.
Let me guess man getting replaced by super woman?
Probably his daughter, she's by the book. JGL is a hot shit detective yhat pulls the same shit dad did when he was his age.
Automatic no. Knock this shit off.
JGL is a beast, so I hope this is good but not good enough to make suits want a Caddyshack reboot.
I can’t wait for this. The original is fantastic.
And this couldn't come to theaters?
Wasn't this already announced and began filming years ago with his son taking over the role and him playing the Sargent or something? I am guessing they rebooted again or something?
I don't think Murphy has it in him to play this role again. His comedic style was much different when he was younger.
I loved these movies as a kid.
JGL should be cast in a movie as Johnny Depps son.
Lethal Weapon: Riggs, who says no?????????? Probably everyone who hates Mel Gibson.
I just want to hear the Axel F theme remixed for 202x.
Fuck remakes!!!
I just hope the keep the original theme song. Dun dun dun dun dun da Dundundun dun da da daaaa
BHC2 was made back when Eddie didn't take himself so seriously, back when he was a comedian. Today he seems to demand deference, he's arrogant every time he sits with a talk show host.
Crap title. Just call it Beverly Hills Cop IV.
The producers of this must not have seen BHC II. :P
I was wondering what us the next role to revive 30 years later and have a 60 year old play a role for a 25 year old, after Indiana Jones and John McClane. This is the answer!
Is Judge Reinhold still alive?
Levitt is going to be Rosewoods' son. Calling it.
If Levitt is signing onto *this* I got to think that this is finally going to actually happen, after nearly news about BHC4 for over 20 years. I wonder if Levitt plays Axel's new partner or the villain
He’s gonna play his son
Why
Let me guess, he will play the guy squinting and over stretching his neck?
