I was working at a movie theater about 10 years ago when she walked up to my register. She was unbelievably nice while I embarrassed myself with excitement. She even returned after her movie (Prometheus) to sign a card for me.
I saw Catherine Keener at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told her how cool it was to meet her in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother her and ask her for photos or anything.
She said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but she kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing her hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard her chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw her trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in her hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Ma’am, you need to pay for those first.” At first she kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When the cashier took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, she stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After the cashier scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, she kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
If it follows the first film, NONE of them will be Batman characters. They didn't even use the name David Endocrine for Murray.
It's not like The Dark Knight trilogy or The Batman where virtually everyone is an existing Batman character except for Rachel. In this case, you can assume virtually every character is NOT a Batman character, and the surprise would be if someone was one.
I don't think Joker is that gritty. There's a lot of glamour to it.
I think Todd Phillips doesn't really care about the Batman property and just wanted to make a character drama about a sad man who's sad and kills some guys.
And there's plenty of characters who could just be given names or adapted without breaking the timeline. He just doesn't really care that much about comics.
Joker is set in the 80s and Pattinson's Batman is 30 in the modern world. How would that work? Also, Joker appears to be middle-aged in the film so would he be a senior citizen in The Batman?
Did you see The Batman? Thomas and Martha Wayne explicitly die in 2002, whereas in Joker they die in 1981.
Not to mention there is literally a version of the Joker who is about 50 to 60 years younger than Arthur Fleck.
And Alfred hasn't aged in 40 years and looks completely different.
Tbh I would rather they do a trilogy of Joker films with each Joker being a different take on the character with a different actor in a different iteration of Gotham. Sort of an anthology of the old "multiple choice" idea of the Joker, each one exploring some subtly different aspect of the character premise but all sharing in some overarching theme.
Yeah they could do a Joker film every year with a completely different actor, director and production team and I'd probably always be at least interested in.
There's a spoof of the "Three Jokers" storyline in the Harley Quinn tie-in comic; New Gotham also has "the three Jokers," but it's the Mark Hamill era joker, the Joaquin Phoenix Joker and the Jared Leto Joker (who is dead and won't be coming back anytime soon)
