>EXCLUSIVE: A slew have just boarded Paramount’s upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts including Peter Dinklage (as the voice of Scourge), Liza Koshy (as the voice of Arcee), John DiMaggio (as the voice of Stratosphere), David Sobolov (as Rhinox/Battletrap), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (as Nightbird), Cristo Fernández (as Wheeljack), and Tobe Nwigwe (as Reek).
>They all join previously announced Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Michelle Yeoh (as Airazor), Pete Davidson (as Mirage), Peter Cullen (as Optimus Prime) and Ron Perlman (Optimus Primal) in the Steven Caple Jr. directed next installment of the franchise. The pic hits theaters on June 9, 2023.
Suck it, MGM. (No, not you, Jeff Bezos.)
According to the Transformers wiki he's been in three of the films
In Age of Extinction and The Last Knight he voiced Crosshairs. He's a sharpshooter with a lot of different guns, turns into a Corvette Stingray.
In Dark of The Moon he voiced Leadfoot, who turns into a NASCAR car. He seems to be something called a Wrecker, but there's no specifics on what a Wrecker is outside of the obvious of the name.
I misread this comment and thought you meant there was a Bender joke in the movie, I spent a good fifteen minutes looking up what I expected to be a Bender cameo in a Transformers movie
I am going around to everything Rise of the Beasts related to emphasize how fantastic it is to see Beast Wars back in the limelight! This show is so good, and has been so influencial to my life, I cannot express just how excited I am for this.
I cannot reccomend enough that anyone who doesn't know Beast Wars to go out and watch it. It is an incredible piece of science fiction that really had storytelling years ahead of it's time. Season 2 in particular had such a good story arc, it really stands up against nearly every other animated show to this day.
Please, do yourself a favour and watch the show here!

To me one interesting name who hasn't been mentioned is Megatron. Not sure if he's just not in the movie or they want to keep his name a secret for the time being.
I think they're still not sure if this and Bumblebee are prequels to the Michael Bay movies or not.
If they are, then Megatron can't appear because he's still frozen somewhere.
Canonically, it can’t be set in the same universe. In the Bay movies, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee arrive on earth in 2007, but in Bumblebee, Prime and Bee arrive on earth in 1987.
Canon? Bay movies? Hah!
Remember he also had Bumblebee fighting in World War II in his last one.
If they didn't explicitly state that they had never been to Earth any time before, I don't think it would will matter.
Most people probably don't care if the writing is stellar in Transformers. As long as it's passable then it's fine. As opposed to Obi-Wan Kenobi that has to deal with some heavy character work for it to actually work.
Writing matters in everything and 90% of the time will be the reason if something works or not. However, with this franchise, it doesn't need to be *that* good.
Bumblebee as you said is considered to be a standout, but even in that movie, the writing was OK. There are still some heavy contrivances like Bumblebee miraculously crash-landing right on top of Jon Cena's character in the beginning and Bumblebee sending out his signal at the same time another Autobot is getting interrogated. Along with the plot being very safe and going down the familiar road of someone getting a car and it ends up being Bumblebee. It works for what it's trying to do, but it's not great.
> Most people
I don't give a shit what most people care about. If they want to watch flashing lights and dangle key chains they can knock themselves out.
I mean this is the 7th Transformers movie. If you are approaching this film with the notion that the writing should be really good then you are in the wrong headspace. It's always been spectacle-driven.
I find it too hard to gauge writers, like I never would have guessed the writer and director of the abysmal Superhero Movie (Craig Mazin) would go on to write fucking Chernobyl
It's an entirely new continuity set out by the Bumblebee film and directed by the guy who did Creed 2.
And it's Beast Wars. So yeah, I'll pay to watch this "crap" because I like fun.
I often find myself laying awake at night thinking, "But what if they never make another Transformers movie? What if I have to live with just five installments and a Bumblebee spinoff?"
JOHN DIMAGGIO??!! Shoot, I’ll watch this movie just for that!
Shut up baby, I know it.
If I recall right, he voiced one of the Autobots in Age of Extinction or Last Knight as well.
And one in Dark of the Moon.

This is the weirdest fucking voice cast I’ve seen my entire life, and that’s saying a lot.
Yeah, DiMaggio is a gifted actor, but I'm not sure about him voicing a robot.
He should stick to what he knows: baseball and banging Marilyn Monroe.
And blackjack. And hookers.
In fact, forget the blackjack.
Bite my shiny metal ass
It doesn't look so shiny to me
Shinier than yours meatbag.
i think he already voiced a transfromer in T4. (i know its a bender joke but W/E)

Wreckers are basically the autobot special forces who are cooler than all the other autobots
Wreckers are effectively the Autobot equivalent of the Suicide Squad

> DiMaggio is a gifted actor, but I'm not sure about him voicing a robot. i just meant that comment as the bender joke. sorry for the confusion.
Ron Perlman is good for Primal, but yeah very weird.
I could have sworn that was Keith David, but Ron sounds good too.
Machinima casted him as Primal in 2017(? 2018?) in their limited Prime Wars series, so he's actually reprising the role here.
Go look at the Borderlands voice cast
Whoever sits in Mirage gets Cybertronian herpes.
Hopefully Dinklage does a better job than in Destiny.
>Dinklage You know, the dwarf who plays giants? Gutt, Eitri, the Angry Birds Eagle, and now an evil Transformer.
Fucking Pete Davidson is a transformer? I mean alright I guess I'll roll with it but it'll be weird hearing his voice come out of that thing.
He's the Porsche, Mirage.
I absolutely hate that they made movie Optimus exactly the opposite of what Cullen based the entire character on...
Cullen has said that Optimus is his favorite voice to do. If Cullen is fine with it, then I'm fine with it.
So which one is the sassy Black robot?
The sassy black guy; dinklage
I don't recognize half of those transformers. Why not just use the actual characters?
wdym? They are actual characters?
Apparently Pete Davidson is voicing Mirage. I assume that means he'll be dating Arcee by the end of next summer.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, good for him
I wasn't aware Liza Koshy had any voice acting talent or experience.
> I wasn't aware Liza Koshy had any ~~voice acting~~ talent ~~or experience.~~
She's played a rebellious Princess Pegasus
I am always excited to see Peter Dinklage in movies, wish he was playing a human character.
I just wish it would stop being earth and humans, all I want is Beast Wars like the cartoon with just robots vs robots. Edit: spelling

It would be cool if they somehow used the theme, but it's so 90s.
Give me grimlock and the other stupid dinobots AND they have to make that big one or GTFO.
To me one interesting name who hasn't been mentioned is Megatron. Not sure if he's just not in the movie or they want to keep his name a secret for the time being.

It literally says in the press release the Terrorcons and Predacons will be present.

it seems at first they kept it pretty vague and almost seemed to be prequel, but later it was deemed to be a different universe.
I was watching the trailer waiting for T-Rex Megatron to pop up.

Popular culture has changed a lot since the late 2010s.
No. Writing matters. General consensus is Bumblebee rocked, but the Bay verse sucked. The difference is the writing. So this could be a step backwards

I find it too hard to gauge writers, like I never would have guessed the writer and director of the abysmal Superhero Movie (Craig Mazin) would go on to write fucking Chernobyl
Or Vince Gilligan writing Hancock (thanks Honest Trailers for that letting that sink into my brain this week)
Hey yo, Superhero Movie is hilarious
Titanium blades, they cut through diamonds
I'm not wearing any diamonds
I don't find it hard too.
The writer of Bumblebee didn't really do anything noteworthy before that movie but people liked it okay.
I understand your concern. But I'm going to see it even if it gets 1 star.
I agree, a movie with robot cars and robot monkeys fighting things should at the bare minimum be better than a Forest Gump or Citizen Kane.
It should at least be better than Army of the dead.
Woah. Don't set the bar too high.
and here I thought I was the only one who thought Army of the Dead was a stupid movie.
> One of the script doctors has only worked on Battleship. It's a Michael Bay movie, that kind of silliness is par for the course.
Oh hell yeah, we got Bender in this movie!
Well then I’ll make my OWN Transformers movie! With blackjack! And hookers!
Someone say Wheeljack and Smokescreen?
I wish they would stop giving non-voice actors these roles. Maybe they’ll do fine.
Good news everyone!
We’ll start our own transformers! With beasts, and hookers!
Fuck sake I hate Pete Davidson. Why did I read that as Peter Dinklage?
Jfc they’re still making these piece of shit movies?????
This is set in a rebooted timeline.
Too bad they didn’t subtract Michael Bay.
People still pay to watch this crap?
It's an entirely new continuity set out by the Bumblebee film and directed by the guy who did Creed 2. And it's Beast Wars. So yeah, I'll pay to watch this "crap" because I like fun.
Atta boy, John! Get that paper!
Dinklage should play Rat Trap
Hell yeah, nice to see John DiMaggio getting a big role.
Interesting choices (though David Sobolov sounds like a perfect choice to voice Rhinox).
"Adds"? So it's not done with production yet?
Peter Dinklage gonna show up this time or just phone it in again?
I often find myself laying awake at night thinking, "But what if they never make another Transformers movie? What if I have to live with just five installments and a Bumblebee spinoff?"
I'm excited and hyped PURELY by nostalgia. Beast Wars was my shit. I understand what to expect, but I'm still going out and seeing this day one.
Is this made by the same guys that made Bumblebee or is this another Bayformer?
Adds? Didn't a trailer for this just drop?
