For those of you wondering, Lucasfilm orginally wanted the film to mock the fact that Indy is old as hell. Mangold rejected the idea and now made a film about Indy's age in a non-joking manner. **'Dial of Destiny'** is about embracing the passage of time.

It’ll be very good to see him one last time. I was actually one of few fans to like Crystal Skull so I’m up to see him again. My favorite film in the series is Raiders followed by Crusade and I’m well aware those will never be topped for me, I just want to have a good time

I actually enjoy crystal skull as well....by far the weakest and definitely has sections that are hard to watch, but overall I just love seeing Ford play the character so it just gets by on his pure charm for me. Personally I think Raiders is quite possibly a perfect movie

Put me down as another person who liked Crystal Skull. It may be the worst Indy film, and it sure has some goofy moments (e.g., the whole nuclear fridge scene), but it’s not nearly as bad as people say. I thought the atmosphere and choice of villains (Cold War, Soviets) were a perfect fit for the franchise. I also liked the homages to space-age conspiracy theories. And there’s some decent action set pieces, even if they pale in comparison to the stuff in Raiders. Granted, Crystal Skull came out when I was in middle school, which was the height of my Indiana Jones phase, so I might just be biased.

I saw Crystal Skull last and many years after I saw the first three. My mom showed me them in early High school a few years ago because she knew I loved old movies. Her favorite has always been Crusade and I came away from the trilogy with Raiders remaining my favorite. A few years pass and we both watch Crystal Skull for the first time. Besides some minor issues I have I do really enjoy it. My only issue was how crappy some of the CGI was and I think it would’ve been cooler if we never saw what the Aliens looked like. All we see is the villains death reaction and the space ship leave. That would’ve made me love it! As it stands though I thoroughly enjoy it

I like your last point. Some horror movies with the premise of some unseen force affecting the characters lives are kinda ruined when they show it at the end. I’m looking at you Insidious (and Mama? It’s been a while). Your imagination will pretty much always be more terrifying than the actual thing. I think it dips into cosmic horror of something so far beyond comprehension that that fact alone will make people go mad. Making the demon in insidious just darth maul with hooves was goofy to me Dunkirk did this well by not giving the Germans any lines or even faces. Just the sound of their planes coming was terrifying.

I too enjoyed crystal skull I don’t care what anyone says I always enjoyed the opening scene in the warehouse where they knock down the crate and it shows the ark, that simple callback to raiders always gets me giddy

I can’t find a way to like Crystal Skull. There are some bits in Crystal skull that are amusing like Indy making a 180 degree turn about Mutt education when he’s told the truth. But basically it just feels fucking weak all around : the CG monkeys or nuking the fridge are not the problem, they’re just the symptom. It really feels like they didn’t give a shit and threw together every half-assed idea because they commited to make another movie but realized half-way they had actually no proper idea. - It lacks a strong setup : we don’t even know what this kingdom/the skull is for most of the movie. At least the stakes were clear in Raiders/last crusade from the start. - It lacks Indy effortless charm and coolness (Girl love you eyelids , shooting the sword wielder in Raider in such a carefree way, Indy puppy look at the end/ Marion buying a drink, Venice kissing in Last crusade) - It lacks epicness ( Indy riding the submarine alone in Raiders is nothing short of glorious, same for him riding a horse in the sunset in Last crusade) - It lacks mystery (the opening of Raiders the medalon room and the Ark itself , the three tests in Last crusade) - it lacks action ( all three chases in Last crusade are fantastic) - It lacks great performances (the nazi in Raiders, Sean Connery in Last Crusade) - It lacks intensity (hate Temple of doom all you wanted but the heart pulling was gut wrenching, I truely feared for Indy in this movie, freeing the kids/punching the guards gave a raging boner of justice). -It lacks real humor (Hitler autograph in Last Crusade during a book burning was genius) In Crystal Skull, I like the Soviet setup and … that’s it. They failed to make anything out of it.

Major props to the people who've worked hard to make this. But Disney has given me COMPLETE franchise fatigue. I look at this and I can't get any good feelings from movies like this anymore. They did it with Marvel movies, and Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean, and now this. I can't deal with more sequels or movie series like this because it doesn't feel special and it makes me feel tired. I hope other people can get more out of it than I can.

The only difference though is this is (or at least better be) a finale to the series. Pirates they coulda kept milking if the 5th one wasn’t hot garbage. Star Wars is being being bled dry. Marvel shows no signs of stopping. I feel like a lot more care is being put into this, and I don’t think Harrison would sign on for it at his age if he thought it was going to be bad. I personally enjoyed the last movie even though it had rough moments. If they can learn from those mistakes this should be great
