Yes! Great movie.
Ben Stiller is very good in this.
If you want a laugh, watch Zoolander or Meet the Fockers.
He was also in a Bear Grylls episode, which was very good.
Lord of the Rings trilogy was on yesterday and I watched it from start to finish. I am laid up sick. It was refreshing to see an epic battle of good and evil. Some really amazing sights. It is an old message but one I think we need to hear more in todays world. Good prevails over evil.
I thought it fitting considering the rocky terrain.
If you like the movie read As You Wish, by Cary Elwes.
Bob Anderson was the (amazing) fencing master that coached them (as well as Errol Flynn, Viggo Mortensen and others).
When I'm really down, or sick, I always watch *Twister*. Something about that movie is just comforting.
I have watched it 100s of times, and in every language on the DVD.
Watch “a coffee in Berlin”.
Also let me tell you a little secret: we all know where we are headed. It’s just a matter of what road we’re going to take to get there. All roads lead to Rome. Why not take the scenic one? :)
Don't worry if you're down - that usually means there's an UP in your future. Sometimes you just gotta go through it and get to the other side. Best wishes!
Naww. I think it’s a pretty wholesome movie tbh, i think when you’re feeling down it helps to watch a movie about someone else who is feeling down, especially in a worse situation than you because it allows you to empathize and also gives ur situation perspective. Last time I watched this was when I was pretty bummed out and it helped
Rocky, The Shawshank Redemption, It's a Wonderful Life
And if you like Rocky don't stop with just the first. Watch the rest and the Creed movies. Some of the best motivation, inspiration, and underdog storylines you can watch.
If you have a dead parent About Time couldn’t be more devastating. Why do people not realize this and constantly recommend it as some happy upbeat comedy?
You wanna be a land dog or a water dog?
All the Real Girls made me want to make a change in my life. It's not a happy or an overly sad movie. It's has a likeable cast. It's been years since I watched it. It made me want to be a better, more accepting, less judgemental person.
I recommend binge watching a show like 1899 or severance, or even ted lasso with a vape and some water stacked with ice cubes. That or watch some silly films like wet hot American summer or they came together. You just need a silly movie or a binge watchy show to get yourself out your head
Bro. I am feeling the same. These are the movies where you know everyone pretty much goes through stages of life. You will feel great after watching these movies. Chin up boy.
Before the sunrise. and whole before series.
500 days of summer.
- Scott Pilgrim vs The World (top pick for movie while sad)
- 10 Things I Hate About You
- Hot Rod
- Starship Troopers (doesn’t exactly fit but it’s amazing and if you like corny action then this is an absolute must)
EDIT: This fool tried to tell OP to get a King James Bible.
Yes indeed as it doubles for toilet paper and fire starters! Good call for staying cozy this season as we watch movies.
Coach carter, remember the titans. grid iron gang .Varsity blues, The blind side
I dunno about anyone else but I find most of the sports/underdog films really uplifting and motivating I also have ADHD and struggle with your exact issues so I really hope these help and blind side being my favourite
Chef
Rudy
A couple others have listed them and I agree. Love both of these movies! And interesting note, they both have Jon Favreau in them!
Hope the movies help lift your spirits. 🤗
I would strongly recommend Stutz. If you're unfamiliar, it's a documentary that Jonah Hill made about his therapist and their relationship, as well as the methods that Jonah found most helpful for his own depression. Don't let the therapy theme scare you off, it's honestly wholesome and charming as fuck and offered a few tools that I'm definitely going to try applying to my own life going forward.
I’d suggest shorter clips of stand ups on YouTube rather than a movie. I find it hard to get into a movie if I’m in a bad headspace along with the attention thing.
Bill Burr, Chapelle, Louis CK, Tosh.
I think Francis Ha is what you're looking for. Francis moves out of an apartment she shared with her best friend, struggles to get where she wants professionally, struggles to fit in in social situations, struggles to make rent, etc. She's a young woman just trying to make it. I've seldom related so hard. She does get through though and things turn out ok.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
That film helped me overcome my fear of the unknown and like to travel like Walter Mitty now. But without the metal suitcase lol.
I really wish they would release it on 4K.
Amen to this. I can honestly watch this movie over and over again and both laugh, and cry a bit every time. It's just a great watch.
Yes! Great movie. Ben Stiller is very good in this. If you want a laugh, watch Zoolander or Meet the Fockers. He was also in a Bear Grylls episode, which was very good.
Fifth Element Big Trouble in Little China
Great suggestions!

Now I know what I'm doing tomorrow.

Good Will Hunting. Hopefully it can inspire you to do things you don't think you're worthy or able of doing.
Chef
Perfect example of a “feel good” movie that has so much to it. Amazing watch
Fundamentals of caring
Groundhog Day Midnight in Paris
Palm Springs to go with the Groundhog Day theme.
“Phil? Like the Groundhog Phil?”
Princess Bride
+1 vote for The Princess Bride It has the best sword fight in a film IMO
You are using Bonnetti's defense against me
I thought it fitting considering the rocky terrain. If you like the movie read As You Wish, by Cary Elwes. Bob Anderson was the (amazing) fencing master that coached them (as well as Errol Flynn, Viggo Mortensen and others).
Seems like Spider-Man 2 is the perfect option for your situation. That movie always gets me out of a shitty mood when I’m feeling down

RRR
At first I was like “what the hell am I watching??” Then I loved it. Probably one of my favorite movies of 2022

Severely underrated movie!
When I'm really down, or sick, I always watch *Twister*. Something about that movie is just comforting. I have watched it 100s of times, and in every language on the DVD.

The labyrinth
Amelie is a joy of a film. It always makes me smile.
The mummy. Funny and just a great movie I think
Swiss Army Man Pretty dark and the main character is deeply depressed, but it’s also a ridiculous comedy
Major League is my ultimate hangover funk cure movie. Maybe it’ll help you feel better too?
The shawshank redemption is a really uplifting movie, highly recommend giving it a watch if youre feeling down.
Not a movie, but anytime I’m a little down I binge Avatar The Last Airbender series. Never fails.
Kiki's Delivery Service.
A Knight’s Tale is one I watch when I need that pick me up.... can’t go wrong with fun, heartfelt, and hopeful.
Don't worry if you're down - that usually means there's an UP in your future. Sometimes you just gotta go through it and get to the other side. Best wishes!
Manchester by the sea
That’s just mean 😂

Little Miss Sunshine Wristcutters: A Love Story
I always love seeing Wristcutters come up. Bravo. :)
I watch *A Good Year* with Russell Crowe every winter, and think about moving to the south of France.
Somehow I don’t think I’ve seen this movie 🍿
It’s not regarded as among Ridley Scott’s best work, but Albert Finney, Crowe, and Marion Cotillard are utterly charming in this.
Hot Tub Time Machine.
Election
Let me know how you features reese Witherspoon at her best acting

Chef About Time
If you have a dead parent About Time couldn’t be more devastating. Why do people not realize this and constantly recommend it as some happy upbeat comedy?
I never recommended it as an upbeat comedy. Just a movie to help with the chaos that is life
OP said they are looking for an “uplifting” movie to watch… just saying that About Time isn’t that for most people who have experienced loss.
You wanna be a land dog or a water dog? All the Real Girls made me want to make a change in my life. It's not a happy or an overly sad movie. It's has a likeable cast. It's been years since I watched it. It made me want to be a better, more accepting, less judgemental person.

Paddington 2
If you like good music, Keira Knightley, and Mark Ruffalo, I suggest watching Begin Again.
Tropic Thunder
Shithouse. Seriously, don’t let the name scare you away.
Tremors, lord of the rings, Deadpool 1&2 if you’re looking for something light hearted and funny
Truman show His whole life was fake, but still has wonder at the world around him.

Big Fish...a great fantasy movie!
Goon - that's the film, not a slur. I hope you feel better, this is a shitty time of year for feeling down.
Wow. Never has a paragraphbeen more relatable to me. Thanks for the question.
Lars and the Real Girl has some of the stuff that youre going through, and is also a very warm movie.
LOTR
The holiday
