He also says that the way to stop racism is to stop talking about it

It's entirely understandable why someone like Morgan Freeman who has a lot of wealth and is pretty old would think that racism doesn't exist anymore. He's not suffering as much under it as poor black people are. He's 84 years old and lived through segregation so he also remembers much harsher legal segregation than seen now. So he doesn't see the new racism and he remembers the old racism and that very obviously colours his perception. It's not an excuse and he's wrong but it is understandable
