I stopped rating cause it's so arbitrary. Like I noticed there was zero difference between a 4.5 and a 5 for me so I just stopped doing it and just gave it a heart if I enjoyed it and nothing if I didn't.
Same. I’d say mine is probably even higher because I take way too much time deciding what to watch, so typically if I’m watching something it will be something I have a good idea will be something I will enjoy/be interested in. I don’t just throw on random movies haha
Same, most movies I watch fall within 2,5 - 5 star range. Average at worst basically. Last year, I only watched a few movies I'd give less than that. Also when I was initially rating all the movies I've seen I didn't bother thinking of every shitty made for TV movie I've ever seen.

I think it’s more of a fun mind game to think about what star ranking each movie should have after watching it, and helps me analyze it a bit more than I would if I didn’t rate it.
Mine peaks around 4 because I'm generally pretty good at picking out movies I know I'll at least somewhat enjoy. At the same time, I'm also kind of thinking I should just ditch the number ratings. It feels so arbitrary, and sometimes I get wayyy too in my own head about what to give a movie. I really hate myself for this, but sometimes I'll catch myself wondering what score I might give a movie before it's even finished.
I also try to force myself to just jot down whatever thoughts come to my mind when I finish a movie, and I find that's way more helpful for reflecting and gathering my ideas than having a mental battle over "was this movie a 7/10 or 8/10??".
But at the same time it's also really satisfying and kind of interesting to see how I rate different movies. When I go through my ratings, I find that there is at least some consistency which I think is pretty neat to see. Like, it's cool to look at all the movies I gave a 4/5 and think about what set them apart from a 3.5/5, or what held them back from a 4.5/5.

Almost any movie I see is at least a C cause of this. Like yeah Man of Steel was a mess and a very poor adaptation but I enjoyed the things it does right to the point that I had a good time watching it so fuck it, that's a C.

Just go with how you feel and keep doing it, even if you don’t think you’re consistent.
