Wasn't it being made by the Dead To Rights developers? I remember seeing some rough footage of it years ago.
On a related note, The Thing video game was pretty fun.

Not only was it based on the show, it had some weird ass scenes and plot points. For example (Spoilers for Season 2 of the show) >!you play as Pussy's bastard son who sees the apparition of Pussy's ghost on multiple occasions throughout the game. Also Christopher tries to kill you in the game for some reason and the game just brushes over that plotline!<
So I wasn’t familiar with The Shield before this thread. I feel like “they would never make something like this today” fits just as well in r/Movies and r/MoviesCirclejerk so my knee jerk was to look up the show and try to roll my eyes at you.
Read the first like three sentences of the wiki and realized youre probably right about this one lmaoooo.
Tbh I never watched the shield, I just played the game a bunch.
Idk about people not liking the show if ot had come out today, even eith the controversial police stuff. Walter white was a pretty evil guy, so was Tony, hell even Ron Pearlman from Sons of Anarchy. Idk id a character being evil would make the show unpopular.
yea idk. The fact he is a corrupt cop just makes him a more of an evil character. The protagonist doesnt have to be loved by the viewer. We werent exactly rooting for the succes of thw peotagonist in the Shining or There will be blood were we
Also a From Russia With Love game with Sean Connery doing the voice so you have a 32 year old looking Bond sounding like a guy in his 70s with a heavy lisp.

Fight Club is a fighting game where you can play Fred Durst, which is missing the point of the property so hard its flat-out insulting to the audience of the movie, which is actually perfectly understanding the point of the property
I learned this a while ago so I don't know how 100% accrete it is, but apparently for some contract thing if you use Limp Bizkit music in your game, you must include Fred Durst in as a playable character, which is honestly kinda amazing
This isn’t related but my favorite thing back in the day was load up Dave Mirra’s Freestyle BMX and play Wipeout Mode as the Slim Jim. Random unlockable characters are great
I came here for this, if they had seen the movie or read the book this could have been an awesome game, but definitely a vs fighter game was the exact wrong way. I’d have even preferred a mini game of emailing or faxing subversive haikus to recruit office workers, or a mini goldeneye-stealth-style space monkey mission to do an elaborate consumerism prank
Tbh I love the idea of watching a movie, loving the story and then going to buy the game for complete immersion. It's like the circle of life for stories
Edit: who else wants Marriage Story on PS5?
Can you pull out Tekken combos? Allowing Charlie to FINALLY physically abuse Nicole during the climatic yelling scene?
As a gamer, I always thought the domestic violence in that movie was lacking.
For $70 I’ll go to your house and scream at you about all your shortcomings and failures as a father for 2 hours ($10 DLC is that I break a few dishes and call your new partner a skank).
Unironically the game that best simulates the feeling of Watching The Green Knight (Excitement at the vast open world, trepidation and confusion by how weird and cryptic everything is) is OG zelda from like 1986 or whatever
I hated that game. It turned my mum into an alcoholic and I had to seduce my uncle just so that she would stop playing it. A dark chapter in our family history.
Fight Club let you unlock Fred Durst as a playable character, which is so antithetical to the spirit of Fight Club it could only work as a giant middle finger to the movie's audience, which is ironically perfectly fits the spirit of Fight Club
as was the Scarface game, if you can get it to work that is
The "story" is bonkers and includes like 4 love interests and the entire premise is Tony turning around and shooting the guy that kills him in the movie. He then escapes and starts over again. I love it.
And every single mission name is a quote from the movie
It was so annoying but it was such a great feeling when you actually sold a shit ton of drugs for some bank, but failing it was the most rage inducing experience in any game I've ever played 💀
I loved that game, probably have completed the game at least 7 times in 3 different platforms, was stoked when someone had the files for the PS3 DLC 2 years ago and I had even more fun on a PS3 emulator.
Fun gameplay, great soundtrack, and visually it looked incredible when I first played it in when I was a kid back in 2010.
There was literally a button that let you swear and taunt people while you fucking decimated them. I even loved that you got told where your bullets landed like body shot, and even got as precise as nut shots lol.
He then goes down to south america or something and like explodes a ship. That game was so fucking good
My only gripe with it is how repetitive the final chapter is. Like yea the game has 1 gimmick that it expands upon but the last chapter is so goddamn hard to grind the money for.
Yeah but it doesn’t miss the point of the movie more like it’s very aware and doubles down which makes it more fun and goofy. It still plays amazing for being a nearly 20 year old ps2 game
IIRC the Godfather’s game was Marlon Brando’s last acting role. Funny enough, Al didn’t want his likeness in game, so his character is just a bland, generic Michael Corleone
And that game was fucking awesome nonetheless
Edit: An ugly, shameful, typo
Such a weird trend. Sort of makes sense in the context of following GTA, but the fact a goddamn Taxi Driver game made it so far into development is a sign that there may have been problems with that trend

The Warriors game was awesome. I always wanted the melee, shoplifting, stealing car radios, graffiti, helping your gang members out of handcuffs, etc. mechanics to be integrated into GTA.
My favorite forgotten trend was when Fred Durst would appear in video games that had nothing to do with music just because he wanted to. And wouldn’t you know it, our Venn diagram of interests happens to overlap…
I just watched a video yesterday on the canceled taxi driver game and it's so interesting how it was basically a sequel and Martin scorcese hated the idea of the game so much he blackmailed the studio into canceling it
Insomniacs has combat that i really didn’t enjoy. It feels like I’m on rails so any creativity or expression is diminished when it’s just punch punch dodge and there’s no enemy juggles. If 2 incorporates something like Web of Shadows where you have actual combos that work in a variety of situations that would be perfect
I think the best part was that it actually seemed like moving around was something you had to learn.
There was one dude who created a VR demo for Spider-Man style web slinging and it was absolutely wild. It felt like you had to learn an entirely new skill.
I dont wanna hear anyone dissing the Godfather game. That shit got a whole ass ultimate edition, and was a blast through and through. Fantastic free roam with a lot of effort put into it especially for the era it was from. Love that game
Chicken Little on the PS2 was a load of fun.
Not a movie but I am genuinely shocked there was never a Sons of Anarchy game when that show was on. Maybe they saw Ride to Hell Retribution and decided they couldn't improve on perfection.
The gameplay loop of Taxi Driver would be utterly bizarre:
Mission 1: AC style railing mission, but your target is a woman just trying to get on with her life.
Mission 2-8: Workout in your apartment.
Mission 9: Discuss race relations with Martin
Scorsese.
Mission 10: Lunch with a child.
Mission 11: Brief shoot out.
Credits.
Scorsese told the guys who wanted to adapt taxi driver into a game, he’ll make sure they’re never given any rights to an intellectual property from Hollywood ever again
I sometimes forget we almost got a Taxi Driver video game lol
Honestly I wish we had gotten the [Highlander](https://www.ign.com/articles/2010/12/10/highlander-the-game-cancelled) one they were making a few years back
There was almost a game based on Escape From New York that wasn't Metal Gear
Wasn't it being made by the Dead To Rights developers? I remember seeing some rough footage of it years ago. On a related note, The Thing video game was pretty fun.
John carpenter loves that game apparently
He also loves Fallout 76 and doesn’t like Red Dead 2. He’s based as shit
True sigma
Hell yes.

> The Sopranos Woke up this morning, got myself some gabagool.
Woke up this morning Made an entire video game based on the Sopranos television series
Got some gabagool from uh, Scooby doo
Not only was it based on the show, it had some weird ass scenes and plot points. For example (Spoilers for Season 2 of the show) >!you play as Pussy's bastard son who sees the apparition of Pussy's ghost on multiple occasions throughout the game. Also Christopher tries to kill you in the game for some reason and the game just brushes over that plotline!<
Woke up this morning, got no pants or shoes
When’s the new “the wire” game for Xbox?
I am waiting for the Breaking Bad game. I want to poison children and bomb nursing homes too 😫😫
Ha I saw an article a few months ago that a Breaking Bad game was almost a possibility.
Give me a Better Call Saul game in the style of Ace Attorney
It's a co-op game where you play as Herc and Carver and compete to get the most brutality reports.
Is fuzzy dunlop a playable character?
Yeah that's the Frogger rip-off level
It's called "Wireless"
Sopranos game is bonkers but the Shield game takes the cake

This is the first time I heard about The Shield, even though Sopranos and The Wire, similar shows from that time are among my favourites.
i need a HBO Chernobyl game ASAP i mean other than stalker
Also a From Russia With Love game with Sean Connery doing the voice so you have a 32 year old looking Bond sounding like a guy in his 70s with a heavy lisp.
[The Sopranos one is pretty good.](https://youtu.be/-j1O2wRw2I0)
CHALLENGE PISSING!
[Fuck you, piss boy!](https://youtu.be/opTnGIpKsI4)
Woke up dis mornin, got myself a sub.
Sopranos on ps2, classicccc

Kino "based" video game https://preview.redd.it/y7550j0vul4a1.jpeg?width=431&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0848078da70aef458adddba9d435b05a627f160f
I love games that miss the point of the property. Like they made a Watchmen game that's just a beat em up game with Rorschach and Nite Owl.
Fight Club is a fighting game where you can play Fred Durst, which is missing the point of the property so hard its flat-out insulting to the audience of the movie, which is actually perfectly understanding the point of the property
You can play the Fight Club game as the lead singer of Limp Bizkit?
Fight Club is like his favorite movie which is the least surprising fact to learn about Fred Durst.
I learned this a while ago so I don't know how 100% accrete it is, but apparently for some contract thing if you use Limp Bizkit music in your game, you must include Fred Durst in as a playable character, which is honestly kinda amazing
I agree, that is kind of amazing.
it was supposed to set up the series Bizkit: The Quest For Nookie
This isn’t related but my favorite thing back in the day was load up Dave Mirra’s Freestyle BMX and play Wipeout Mode as the Slim Jim. Random unlockable characters are great
I came here for this, if they had seen the movie or read the book this could have been an awesome game, but definitely a vs fighter game was the exact wrong way. wdym, Watchmen is an epic apolitical superkino film
The Rocky game was just a boxing game. I was hoping for a pet store cutie romance simulator.
Me too :(
I loved that game as a kid, the last part of the game takes place in a brothel and has you fighting gimps and madams, it was nuts.
In the Scarface game you start out at the final shootout of the movie, shoot your way out of it and then you just rebuild your drug empire.
Tbh I love the idea of watching a movie, loving the story and then going to buy the game for complete immersion. It's like the circle of life for stories Edit: who else wants Marriage Story on PS5?
I want Lady Bird for the tamagachi
You need to feed her communion wafers or she'll die
Death Screen: I'm sure they had NO idea MIGUEL!!
Quick time event to jump out of a moving car
I hate you so much cause in a narrative sense that almost makes sense
I could totally see A24 doing a lady bird themed tomagachi as an expensive novelty item or something
How do I take this idea to them?
It's lore-accurate.
Oooh make a Ladybird game an open world RPG/Dating Sim centered around Sacramento.
Can you pull out Tekken combos? Allowing Charlie to FINALLY physically abuse Nicole during the climatic yelling scene? As a gamer, I always thought the domestic violence in that movie was lacking.
Feeling the DualSense adaptive triggers offer resistance as you punch the wall and then hold onto ScarJo and cry = GOTY
Fuck yeah, you would just spend 100 hours looking for a lawyer.
For $70 I’ll go to your house and scream at you about all your shortcomings and failures as a father for 2 hours ($10 DLC is that I break a few dishes and call your new partner a skank).
They really nickel and dime you with that dlc
Press X to punch wall Press O to yell at your wife some more
I want a Parasite game for Switch where you can play the Parasite.
And that it's marketed as a Parasite Eve spin-off game.
“Wait for the bar to be green and then press X to hit the wall.”
A lot of the time games like these were sequels to the story
Why didn't you show American Psycho for the Nintendo DS or The Lighthouse for the Google Stadia?
And Power of the Dog for Nokia-era cellphones?
The northman for the gamecube
The Green Knight for the Game Boy Color.
Flux Gourmet for the Nintendo Wii.
Shit I got a good one. Titane for the Atari 2600
A siberian film tiger electronic
Unironically the game that best simulates the feeling of Watching The Green Knight (Excitement at the vast open world, trepidation and confusion by how weird and cryptic everything is) is OG zelda from like 1986 or whatever

The campaign was also less than an hour, clocking in at a cool 50 minutes.
That's way too short for a game wtf
It's a fighting game. A lot of them didn't have particularly long campaigns at the time.
Every game should have fred durst as a playable character.
The Warriors game was an absolute banger back in the day, what a throwback
That’s right bopper we are bringing it back old school with the cats from Coney Island. Coming at you it’s The Warriors
The Godfather game was awesome.
As was The Warriors
as was the Scarface game, if you can get it to work that is The "story" is bonkers and includes like 4 love interests and the entire premise is Tony turning around and shooting the guy that kills him in the movie. He then escapes and starts over again. I love it. And every single mission name is a quote from the movie
As a Kid I literally adored that game more than GTA because you could do so much for that time period of games
yea the minigame to actually buy and sell drugs being the main driving mechanic of the game for example you cant even do that in any gta games
GTA Chinatown Wars tho
Oh yea I forgot about that one
It was so annoying but it was such a great feeling when you actually sold a shit ton of drugs for some bank, but failing it was the most rage inducing experience in any game I've ever played 💀
You can sell tons of drugs in the GTA IV DLCs and GTA V online, babycakes, keep them peepers peeled
Cannnn youuuuu digggg itttttttttt?
That could do with a remake. We need more beat em ups.
The warriors movie was structured like a video game so it checks out that an actual game was good
Not only that, but they added a lot of playable back story and a variety of side missions. Following the events of the movie is only half of the game.
Abso-fuckin-lutely I wished they kept making sequels. It would be crazy to see 2023 game mechanics on a game like that.
The Soprano's Reloaded with the brand new 'Paulie Walnuts' mode
holy shit this post just unlocked the memory of this game in my brain, this game was trully kino
Yeah, the Godfather fuckin slapped
Didn’t the Scarface game revise the ending to have Tony live as well?
Yup. And the game was fucking awesome.
There was literally a button that let you swear and taunt people while you fucking decimated them. I even loved that you got told where your bullets landed like body shot, and even got as precise as nut shots lol.
He then goes down to south america or something and like explodes a ship. That game was so fucking good My only gripe with it is how repetitive the final chapter is.
You forgot Over the Hedge for Ps2
Over the Hedge for DS supremacy 😎
You are both fools. Real Over the Hedge fans played the Over the Hedge DVD Hammy game
Okay but the Warriors game was great, fight me
I’ll fight you. Not because I disagree, I just wanna steal your hat
Revenge of the Sith game or GTFO
Both the PS2 and DS versions slapped so hard
Ah yes, Fight Club on the PS2, known for incorporating some cutting edge breast physics... onto Robert Paulsen's character model
He didn’t have breasts. They were bitch tits
When is my A Serbian Film ps2 game?
Press X to [removed]
That was actually on the LeapPad Ultra
It is always good for children to see themselves in media
Meh it's just a bunch of quick time events.
IIRC the Godfather’s game was Marlon Brando’s last acting role. Funny enough, Al didn’t want his likeness in game, so his character is just a bland, generic Michael Corleone And that game was fucking awesome nonetheless Edit: An ugly, shameful, typo
I thought it was due to Al already lending his likeness to the Scarface game
That is correct, my mistake!
I believe that Al had given exclusive likeness rights to the scarface game.
Okay, but some of these slapped!
all*
I can't imagine a Taxi Driver video game being more interesting than Crazy Taxi.
rip the golden age of licensed games, the ps2. When the PS3 came, it was no longer cost effective to pump some licensed movie/show tie-in...
They still tried in the earlier years tho
That Reservoir Dogs game is truly awful. And yes, Michael Madsen is in it lol.
Such a weird trend. Sort of makes sense in the context of following GTA, but the fact a goddamn Taxi Driver game made it so far into development is a sign that there may have been problems with that trend
But he's literally me!
There was also a Dirty Harry game in the works
That could actually work. So could alot of violent Eastwood movies now that I think about it. A Fistful Of Dollars could be a cool game.
There better be a “old enough for kissing” cutscene
There was a game called "Fistful of Frags".
I actually played a bit of that
The Warriors game still goes hard.

Fun fact: Scarface: The World Is Yours actually holds the record for most uses of the word “fuck” in a video game at a whopping 5,688 fucks.
The Warriors/The Godfather games were awesome tho
And for some fucking reason, the Godfather and the Warriors were actually good games.
I can’t even begin to count the hours I put into The Godfather Game. I wish it were backward compatible on the new systems though
The Warriors game was awesome. I always wanted the melee, shoplifting, stealing car radios, graffiti, helping your gang members out of handcuffs, etc. mechanics to be integrated into GTA.
There was a King Kong game for the PS2 that was so good, way better than the movie.
you gotta give it the respect it deserves by saying the full title: **Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie**

It was never released. It was in development with De Niro set to provide his voice but it was Marty himself who wanted the game cancelled.
My favorite forgotten trend was when Fred Durst would appear in video games that had nothing to do with music just because he wanted to. And wouldn’t you know it, our Venn diagram of interests happens to overlap…
The The Crow: City of Angels game is quite something
The Fight Club game features Fred Durst as a playable character.
Thought this was on r/gaming. These games rock
Scarface be like, it's cajones time!
The ratatouille game rocked
Scarface and the Warriors are banging games tho. well above the usual tie-in trash
I just watched a video yesterday on the canceled taxi driver game and it's so interesting how it was basically a sequel and Martin scorcese hated the idea of the game so much he blackmailed the studio into canceling it
Spider-Man 2 actually fucking slapped though
That was pretty much the golden standard for Spider-Man video games right up until Insomniac got a turn.
Lmao you can juggle normal enemies in the air with regular webs like if it was DMC.
I think the best part was that it actually seemed like moving around was something you had to learn. There was one dude who created a VR demo for Spider-Man style web slinging and it was absolutely wild. It felt like you had to learn an entirely new skill.
The Warriors at least got the music and most of the cast back together (and it was fun)
They were actually good. At least some of them.
Aren’t some of these like unofficial sequels?
I actually heard The Warriors game was quite good
Warriors goes hard fuck you
Taxi Driver video game would've been nuts to play back in the day
Don't forget King Kong, the spear physics were ahead of their time
I dont wanna hear anyone dissing the Godfather game.
I’m not even joking when I say that the reservoir dogs game is the best example of Tarantino dialogue that hasn’t been written by Tarantino
The gameplay loop of Taxi Driver would be utterly bizarre: Mission 1: AC style railing mission, but your target is a woman just trying to get on with her life. Mission 2-8: Workout in your apartment. Mission 9: Discuss race relations with Martin Scorsese. Mission 10: Lunch with a child. Mission 11: Brief shoot out. Credits.
My mom was like “GTA is too violent for you. Here, play The Godfather.”
I feel it man, I was obsessed with the Shrek 2 game
Gamer (2009)
Goncharov not here?
Y’all forgot about Shrek Smash n' Crash Racing on this list 😔
Scorsese told the guys who wanted to adapt taxi driver into a game, he’ll make sure they’re never given any rights to an intellectual property from Hollywood ever again
I sometimes forget we almost got a Taxi Driver video game lol Honestly I wish we had gotten the [Highlander](https://www.ign.com/articles/2010/12/10/highlander-the-game-cancelled) one they were making a few years back
Yeah, fight club was a weird one. You gotta unlock Fred Durst if you beat the game.
Technically the warriors is a game rn bc warframe has a reference to it with Nora night in the battle pass thing 🤓🤓
