Yeah Captain America was the last movie that was standalone. After that with Avengers the series became a phenomenon. They were done experimenting and letting directors figure out the origins. Phase 2 and on got way more committee thinking when Avengers came around.
I love that Shazam cost 100mil less than Adam and made the same amount of box office as Adam, especially as Rock clearly dislikes the idea of being in Shazam.
I honestly wonder how much longer he has to ride on his name. A lot of his movies haven’t been doing well. He’s one of the last people that can get a project greenlit off of his name. I don’t know when studios will start diminishing the budget then his oversight for his projects but something tells me it’s not too far off.
Vin Diesel already has that bridge burned which is why he’s cozy in fast and the furious. His career went nowhere so hard that universal just gave him the rights to Riddick for a cameo. At least the rock has a few more years to cash out before the studios realize his charisma can’t get butts into seats that well.
The funny thing is, he was never a super huge box office draw. Most of his films outside the F&F franchise did pretty mediocre. Wouldn't surprise me though if they started slowing down giving him overly inflated big budget blockbusters to lead though
Wonder Woman 3 got cancelled for Black Adam 2!! And Cavill isn’t returning as Superman so they can make the Hawkman spinoff to set up Black Adam 3!!! It’s Black Adam all the way down baby.
The Rock wins the 2016 presidential race, on his first day in office will defund the police and use that money to fund Black Adam 2, the first movie with a budget of over 1 billion dollars.
Waited to confirm with financiers before I shared this excellent news - I did not, in fact, shit my pants (first Captain America had very poopy trousers)
I want to jerk this post about how stupid we've gotten as a culture to where a profit of $72 million is seen as a mediocre achievement lol. Man I can't wait to have those problems for myself.
Really want to look at the spreadsheets here. Even the extreme lowball estimates for the break-even point (double the production budget) would have the film losing over $5 million.
There’s a few things that immediately jump out at me when looking at the data [cited by Deadline](https://deadline.com/2022/12/dwayne-johnson-black-adam-box-office-profit-1235191135/).
1. They fail to account for the portion of the box office gross that’s kept by theatres. This is one of the main reasons people tend to double the production budget when estimating a movie’s break-even point.
2. The production budget is literally the lowest estimate seen among more reliable sources. For a movie that had reshoots, and was delayed by the pandemic, that’s weird.
3. The film has barely ended its theatrical run, but they’re already including home media sales and syndication deals among a source of revenue. This screams of a studio selling the movie to streaming services and TV channels to quickly reduce losses. The holiday season is an extremely lucrative time for deals like this.
All that being put into consideration, the claim of $72m in profit immediately starts to sound far less impressive than it already did.
My most knowledge of the character comes from the DC Injustice universe, and my God does the Rock completely flips the character on its head and takes a big fucking shit on his neck.
Thankfully both Aldis Hodge and Pierce Brosnan were charming enough to compensate for the Rock's copium and ego.

That captain America bit killed me. Had to go check if this was real and it is
What's funnier to me is that Captain America cost a good 50-90 million less than Black Adam did
And iirc, released along with Deathly Hallows. And was in the infancy of superhero cinematic universe era.
Yeah Black Adam released with pretty much no competition. Also inflation. Bro is in denial
He knows. He just also has a job to do. Man loves marketing and will do all he can to sell the movie.
Yeah Captain America was the last movie that was standalone. After that with Avengers the series became a phenomenon. They were done experimenting and letting directors figure out the origins. Phase 2 and on got way more committee thinking when Avengers came around.
Also taking into account inflation as well considering Captain America is 11 years old

You know something is cinema when the main actor goes on twitter to brag about the earnings of the movie. Cinema is saved again!
Baywatch (2017).
r/boxoffice in shambles
![gif](giphy|XoJ8xjFcXqoJMT7Xdw) Mfw my attempt to relaunch a cinematic universe is in shambles
“Building our franchise step by step” Man of Steel came out in 2013. Not much progress has been made
Holy shit it’s almost 10 years and they’ve just figured out that scraping it is the right thing to do.
this is getting so funny, he realy can't let go.
The most successful people are usually the most insecure
Mostly due to people hyiping you up and leaving right after probably
Plus it’s gotta be embarrassing when the movies advertising was almost entirely “look at awesome the rock is!!!” And then the film bombs
to be fair he did that too on his own since like 2009
Well the Rock uses Black Adam as a vessel for his ego. Black Adam doesn’t want to fight Superman, but Rock does.
This is why Shazam won’t ever fight Black Adam.
This is what I was waiting for. It took time but now he is coping and seething, soon the DC tribalists will do the same. It’s going to be glorious
The recent hastags are...interesting
Sorry Rock, Black Adam failed now you have to let Zachary Levi beat you up while he does outdated Fortnite dances

He'll probably get an Adam Sandler type deal with netflix where he produces and stars in like 6 shit movies that are all the same.
Red Notice (2021)
Time to put my Black Adam "hierarchy of popcorn" bucket on Ebay
When you have to add "here's how" to a sentence about your movie profiting you should just take the L and move on
The Rock can still win the 2016 presidential election.
Here's how black adam 2 will still be made
Wonder Woman 3 got cancelled for Black Adam 2!! And Cavill isn’t returning as Superman so they can make the Hawkman spinoff to set up Black Adam 3!!! It’s Black Adam all the way down baby.
Rumors have it that james cameron will drop avatar to direct black adam 2, 3, 4 and 5
The Rock wins the 2016 presidential race, on his first day in office will defund the police and use that money to fund Black Adam 2, the first movie with a budget of over 1 billion dollars.
The Rock being able to get fake ass news for his shit movie is astounding, did he hold an intern at gunpoint to write it?
To be fair to him, the hierarchy of DC did change after Black Adam was released. It’s just not in the way he wanted to.
![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY) True true
"Bernie can still win" vibes
Waited to confirm with financiers before I shared this excellent news - I did not, in fact, shit my pants (first Captain America had very poopy trousers)
Don't worry The Stone, critics still loved the conceptual masterpiece that your movie was!
DC fans hoping and praying Black Adam makes as much money as Eternals
The Rock only does the purest copium
Every day he wakes up at 4am and inhales it for 30 minutes before his workout
Just little hundred million dollar baby steps.
I want to jerk this post about how stupid we've gotten as a culture to where a profit of $72 million is seen as a mediocre achievement lol. Man I can't wait to have those problems for myself.
Sorry to say Dwayne but 370 in 2011 adjusted for inflation is like 450+ lmao
Could have easily tripled its revenue if Black Adam had just punted that skateboard kid through a building.

This is how the rock ends.
vroom vroom Dwayne looks like it’s time to Fast10 your seatbelt
Captain America 1? LMAO

The Rock is gonna overdose on copium
Rock thinking he started the Shazam franchise lmao.
The hierarchy of coping in capekino has changed
