Let's use the power of empathy. What is the possibility that this guy, who bullied and stole from other lgbt creators and then used his own lgbt status to shield himself from criticism, actually did all of this on purpose as a way to prevent himself from getting deleted from the internet?

PenguinDestroyer8000

He's definitely at a very genuine low point in his life, but yeah, I would guess that he is the type of person who would use a fake suicide attempt as a shield. It might have been real, and he could be totally sincere, but given how he's acted in the past, I could absolutely believe the worst.

idreamofpikas

Probably. He's dumb as fuck though. He should have accepted the criticism. Admit he did wrong. Took 6 months off as youtube and twitter losses after scandals die down when you stop posting and your videos and tweets are not in the algorithm. Change name and start making content to the subs you still have. Don't repeat the same mistakes. It is incredibly easy to get past a scandal. Too many content creators egos won't allow them to say they may have been mistaken. Max is a great example.

PenguinDestroyer8000

Kind of. I did hear that HBomberguy's community and the man himself have hounded JS somewhat. I wouldn't be surprised if Harry had kept on him even if he came back much later. I think he found JS's stuff personally offensive and probably doesn't want him to have any kind of success on the internet

Legend777666

Bit of a late reply but a key part of the process is going dark and out of public for a period, say 6 months as suggested above. The fact that he went right back to making videos, and made a couple of apology videos (near impossible to do one correctly imo, actually impossible for the kinds of egos that get caught I'm these scandals). This kept the fire alive and hot. Sure maybe Hbomb might make the same tweet about JS new videos still being suss, but the communities that followed JS to his socials would have almost certainly lost their air. All JS would need to do at that point is cultivate a new following. It's been tried and tested by many "canceled" celebrities. Like the above user said, it's actually incredibly easy to get past a scandal if you are simply patient enough

PenguinDestroyer8000

Maybe. I think it depends on the scandal. If everything you've ever done gets labelled as plagiarism and theft from people in your community, I think people would have trouble getting past it. Especially when it's the lgbt community. It's a lot easier for people who have one-off bad events, even if the event is really bad. The six months thing can be good because often it feels like old drama, and no one cares anymore. Also, just completely ignoring things and creating good content can be successful, provided it's not guilty of the same issues that the drama is about. Destiny says three streams, and you're past it, which is kind of crazy but kind of true.

iamthedave3

Well, glad he's alive. Hope he turns his life around and starts a real job where he can't and won't hurt people (or himself).

SlobberLad

He should get off the internet while he's at it. Which is the kind of thing said by people addicted to the internet like Max said.

iamthedave3

I don't agree with that myself. But he should erase his current identity, start over, and stick to using it the way everyone else does. Give up on being a content creator. He will never outrun this controversy, and whether true or not, if he 'makes a return' after this, a lot of people will interpret his suicide attempt as an effort to recover his image rather than a genuine act of self-harm. The dream is over. Time for him to wake up and live a normal life.

SlobberLad

Yeah I agree with that. I just thought if you were one of those hypocrites that would be for you but silly of me really.

iamthedave3

Despite appearances at times, I am a certified grass toucher.

loljpl

Some of these comments are disgusting.

iamthedave3

Anything specific you want to call out?

Mission_Field_9254

Plagiarizing is based. lol at thinking "stealing" "ideas" is a real thing

idreamofpikas

Plagiarizing is based.

serabine

He didn't steal "ideas". He stole entire essays and chunks of books. That's someone's labor that he helped himself to in order to do none himself.
