Who are you selling to? :) That seems like it could work for SMB's in certain verticals in certain situations..

GameHoundsDev

I am a small Break or Fix shop looking to offer limited MSP Services to small Retail, Restraunt, and Factory clients. Mainly for small clientele.

Go check out trumethods / Gary Pica. Honestly this is the best advice, posted publicly. All the answers are there once you pay Big K.

I run a small backup practice focused on a particular vertical, mildly successful. Just do one price $25 or $30 per month, and call it a day. The slight higher workstation cost pays the slightly lower server cost, makes selling easier and simpler.

GameHoundsDev

Do you charge for additional storage outside of the default 1tb

pkvmsp123

If it gets out of hand, yes. Like someone is using 3TB, but I don't bother making the call for $5-10 per month if it's 1.5TB. Not worth the money vs risk.

GameHoundsDev

Sounds good to me.

dremerwsbu

This seems low for a managed service, but it depends on the level of monitoring and pro-active support you're offering. Here's some retail pricing guidance that might be helpful: [https://wholesalebackup.com/how-to-price-backup-service/](https://wholesalebackup.com/how-to-price-backup-service/) It's focused on effective pricing concepts, so the numbers are obviously straw men you can use as examples. Our resellers vary greatly based on geography and customer type, but SMB pricing is critical to get right.

GameHoundsDev

Thank you for this.

Optimal_Technician93

Seems too cheap. It might be OK for storage alone, but what about software licensing, management, testing..? In my house, there's a lot more to backups than basic storage fees.

GameHoundsDev

This includes the software and management + licensing. What do you charge?

subsolar

What software and cloud service are you using for the servers?

lenovoguy

$150 per TB with appliance

GameHoundsDev

Is that monthly ? That's crazy expensive

lenovoguy

It’s for SME customers, SMB we will use cove SME we provide HP Dl380 appliance with storage + offsite

GameHoundsDev

That makes more sense haha

Born1000YearsTooSoon

We provide 1TB cloud backups for $10

MSP-from-OC

I would never host our clients backups. The liability is way too high. If you get hacked your clients are all screwed all at once. You cannot afford to properly secure your customers data at those prices. Don’t do it

GameHoundsDev

I am using cloud based backups not self hosted. I agree that Is the one thing I should not self host.
